    Chicken Parmesan with Bolognese sauce
    Victoria S.

Had high expectations for this place and it still managed to exceed our expectations! We had such an amazing lunch here with amazing service - one of the chefs even came out and shared the specials with us. The restaurant is very small, so definitely recommend making reservations especially for dinner. Food was extremely fresh and portions were big! Loved how they had olive oil, red pepper flakes and Parmesan cheese set up at the table. Will definitely be back here soon!

Wow, this place was absolutely amazing for a cozy Italian family meal. The place is spilt into two adjacent suites. One was perfect for a night date night, the other a more casual cafe, which worked well for our toddler. Service was great, with friendly and knowledgeable staff. As for the food, we were brought a couple of white bread loafs, with extra virgin olive oil waiting on the table for us. Then we ordered the fried Mozzarella and the evening special salad. The salad was well put together with a generous amount of protein and fruit . The dinner portion sizes are HUGE. And I really enjoyed the pink Vodka sauce. For dessert, I ordered a key lime tart which was amazing. I'd highly recommend stopping by with the family, or dropping in for a quick treat from their cafe.

It's telling that the drive to this diner was an experience in and of itself. Soaring through the streets of Warren and Swansea, flanked by woods and water, were just the beginning of a magical experience. Then came the destination: at first, I doubted myself because I thought I was just looking at a bakery. When I pulled into the parking lot and opened the front door, I finally began to understand what "hole-in-the-wall" truly meant. Not only was the family ownership and honest-to-goodness service in place the minute I entered, but the sampling of lightly-seasoned bread with olive oil was the definitive way to begin dinner. When I came here last weekend with my stepbrother and his gf, I had finished a workout earlier that day, so the idea of a chicken parm dished mixed with bolognese sauce sounded killer; all of us had ordered that exact dish! Boy, was my hunch trustworthy. A comforting mix of seasonings, a breading with a well-done crispness around the edges, and a quality of meat that felt wholesome without being overbearing were the elements that comprised a hearty serving of cheese-stuffed ravioli. The following Saturday, my mother and stepfather were more than happy to reserve seating (when you're a small restaurant with a penchant for legendary cooking, even the weekdays are bound to be packed). While my mother gorged on a plain chicken parm and my old man was enthused with his seafood platter, I dove into creamy pink vodka sauce and smoky sweet Italian sausage. The bacon-y flavor of the sausage complemented the sharp cheesiness of the broth, culminating in a spectacle of flavors that never stopped short of excellence. While the Nutella-filled egg dessert I had on the first day was nice, I was told that most of the offerings provided in the bakery were crafted by a Boston-based confectioner. What was homemade, however, was a fruity pie carefully designed and baked by the proprietor's wife. The crostata, as it was called, tasted just as scrumptious as the description of apples and raspberries and gooey gelato that I had been provided. One of the reasons I support small is because there's no conglomerate overreach to corrupt the flavors a competitive small-town scene can offer, which Spaghetti Lane perfectly embodied. When Mike the founder had been so uplifted by vocal enthusiasm for his business, he was generous to provide me with a Spaghetti Lane-branded shirt. I told him he truly did not have to offer such a generous gift, but I thanked him nonetheless afterward. I must also point out the ambience of the restaurant. The place was comprised of two dining rooms: one of which leaned into the elegance of Italian spirits stacked neatly on shelves and the hypersonic drift of Italo Disco filling the air, the other was a contemporary-style cafe setting with a dessert cashier and a giant cabinet lined with cannoli, cheesecake, and whoopie pies. For some reason, my soul lit up when I heard the Umberto Tozzi version of "Gloria" as I was chomping on my penne. Now that's a vibe. That's my TED Talk. Thank you, everyone!

First visit to Spaghetti Lane and I almost drove past it! It's unassuming and tucked away but well worth the visit. We met my parents for lunch in the area with the dessert case, wine bar and coffee bar. There were a few tables, a huge dessert case and so much wine! It's so cute in that area and completely different from the other area that is dark and perfect for an intimate dinner. I always order specials when they sound good as you never know when you will be ably to try them again. I started with the conch salad, which was gigantic. My parents both had garden salads that were also huge. They took half of them home! My mother and father had the caprese sandwich, my wife had the Italian grinder and I had the chicken cutlets special with tomato, mozzarella and pesto mayo. All the sandwiches were enough for two servings and served on the most amazing bread! I'd like to go back and try the rest of the lunch menu. All the pastry is from Modern in the North End with the exception of a shelf of baked goods that the owners wife makes. The cannoli was GREAT! We took home a magic bar, a brownie and Reese's cookies. All baked by the owners wife and all fantastic! We had so much left over food that we had two bags for us and one for my parents to carry out! Our server was also great. He said he normally works the kitchen and you would have never known that he wasn't a server as he was so attentive. We will be going back for dinner in December. This place is definitely going to be part of our normal rotation.

Another delicious lunch today! One of the specials on the menu was chicken Melanzane. That was my choice and I can tell you it was over the top! Usually I've had it with only arugula and dressing . Not here it was served with cherry tomatoes, slices of parmigiana and a tasty dressing! The chicken parm with spaghetti for the hub. A must go to when you're in the Barrington area. You'll love Casey she's an awesome server and you feel like you're part of the family! It's a cute cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. There's also the dinner dining area attached to the cafe . It's a must try you won't leave hungry!

We went back and didn't heed the advice to make a reservation but...all was not lost. We were able to be seated and enjoyed a lovely dinner We started with a small salad (large enough to share between two people). I opted for the bolognese with penne - delicious. We sat on the cafe side which has pleasant vibe. I'm looking forward to going back with friends. We'll plan better and make a reservation

Difinately worth the hour drive to Barrington RI! The food and service by Casey were outstanding and I look forward to going back. Make reservations as the place is not big at all. Casey the waiteress was so genuinely nice. We started off with some appetizers; 3 meatballs with Ricotta which were delicious and the Zucchini Flower Appetizer which my wife and niece truly enjoyed. My niece and I shared a garden salad.... and thankful for Casey to suggest we could share one iinstead of ordering one each. The salad was huge and I loved the Italian dressing. Dinner portions are also huge!! We each brought take home boxes. My wife had the Lemon Mascarpone Pasta which she enjoyed and I also loved... actually might get it with some chicken. My niece ordered the Scallop Shrimp Truffle Ravioli special which she very much enjoyed. Myself and my niece's husband ordered the Chicken Parm which was very good and both of us had lots to bring home. For dessert I had a wonderful Carrot Cake and everyone else ordered the cannoli's. Overall a wonderful experience. Already making plans to take my sister for her May Birthday gift. Great vibe! Highly recommend!!

Squash flower special appetizer. Sorry, we ate four before I took the picture.

I came here for the first time with my wife and in-laws after seeing that the Prov Journal listed it as number one in Italian restaurants in Rhode Island. That's a tough thing to live up to in RI. It's almost unfair to raise the expectation that high. I would say they don't qualify for that title based solely on the fact that they don't use fresh pasta (which is why they got 4 instead of 5 stars from me-I would have gone 4.5 if that was an option). Other than that, everything was excellent. We ordered a bottle of their house Chianti ($29) that was very good. No full bar (I would have liked a Manhattan, but it's not a deal breaker). We started with the appetizer special, an order of squash flowers for the table. They were crispy, light and delicious. My wife said they were the best she'd ever had. They came on top of their red sauce, so we got a preview of that. The sauce was spot on. My in-laws both got the veal parm. It was flawless. Super crispy, a perfect amount of sauce and cheese, served on top of pasta, they choose spaghetti. My wife got the scallop penne special with mushrooms in a (possibly truffle) cream sauce. She loved it. I got the veal/eggplant parm. Like the veal parm, it was great. Everything arrived hot. The service was perfect. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Even if we hadn't split the squash flowers, I doubt anyone would have been able to finish their entree; the servings were huge, so huge, in fact, that none of us had room for dessert. Next time. And there WILL be a next time. From the Yelp pics, it looked like you ate in the cafe (display cases, etc), which was the reason we hadn't eaten there sooner, we were looking for a date night vibe and the Yelp pics only showed the cafe side, but there's also a restaurant space that's open Tuesday - Saturday from 3 pm - 9 pm. This information is on their website, so it's my own fault for not digging a little deeper. It was a bit chilly near the window but bearable. Best Italian Restaurant in RI? Maybe, for some. Awesome Italian restaurant worth trying? Definitely.

I had cheese lasagna after I had an antipasto and my friend had eggplant Parmesan after how salad. Everything we had was so delicious.

They have a daily menu, and I've had some friends suggest this place as their favorite restaurant. We parked blocks away due to the lack of adequate parking. Once we walked in, we were greeted with pleasant smiles from the staff. The menu was short, which we attributed to a focus on quality. We ordered a French onion dip and a littleneck entree as an app for the table. We were served with lukewarm water, neither cold nor hot. The apostle John might have been somewhat disappointed (Rev 3:16). The dip was decent but was somewhat lacking in great onion flavor. But nothing to complain about. The little necks were served in a small bowl and lacked a bit of salt. Rather pricey for $26, but this place charges $6 just for bread and butter, so maybe it's just inflation? Enter the entrees. They apparently were short on chicken legs so they asked to substitute chicken breast. Two of us got burgers. First the $20 burgers, which were served with an aioli with no offer of ketchup or other condiments. In short, both burgers were terrible. Far worse than we make at home. It's always a disappointment when you realize you're paying all this extra for food you can make better at home. The buns were shockingly flat, like someone smashed them by hand. Or in a McDonald's box. Come to think of it, the flavor was similar, though overall the hamburger was somewhat bitter, salty and lacked an appetizing flavor. Wow. We all agreed they were terrible. The fries were also burnt and over salted. My daughter quit on her $30 chicken, so I tried it. The sauce wasn't bad, and it was served with a decent brocollini. But the chicken was some of the driest I've had in a restaurant, with no crisp skin and a uniformly poor texture. No wonder no one finished their entrees. And I hate wasting food. So, as much as we would have wanted to give this place a great rating, we just won't be back. The service, although with a smile, was slow and terrible. Our candle burnt out in the middle of dinner. It was never relit. Our glasses were empty halfway through dinner. No refills on the tepid water. The entrees took an hour and a half before they came out (we were warned the chicken could take 30 min). Generally a very disappointing experience. Hard to explain the rave reviews but our Saturday dinner was a sad bust. The cold wet madeleines they provided in a doggie bag didn't do anything to help. Oh well. Hope y'all have a better experience if you go here.

We were having a lovely dinner in Warren and stopped into Bywater for a quick after-dinner drink. It was a bit cooler out but since they had no seats in the extremely limited bar area, we took the plunge and sat outside near their fire pits. They did not have many wines to choose from BTG which was disappointing. The one I had which was Cinsault was just ok. I had to dump out most of it since I did not enjoy it but that was my fault since sampling it I thought I liked it. My friend had the bartender make her a cocktail with grapefruit since they did not have pineapple. She was looking for a French martini but seemed to enjoy what they made her. My husband's espresso martini was very good I thought and light but could've used some bailey's. We already had dessert so we did not plan on anything else but I know I am interested in returning for dinner. The restaurant is very small inside but I loved the warm lights and decor. It was a very sexy and attractive vibe! If you are ever in Warren I highly recommend coming here for either drinks, dinner, or both. Dress warm if you plan on heading outside to sit near the fire...it does not give off that much heat! Cheers!

I can browse a liquor store & pick out a bottle that exactly fits my preferences, my mood, & my budget. I can bring it home & uncork the wine, checking the cork for freshness. I can pull out my special glassware & pour myself a glass of wine & enjoy it on my own couch. So why go out to a wine bar, if not for the wine? For me, it's for the ambience & the experience. Both of those things at Providence Wine Bar were lacking. The lights were too bright (overhead & fluorescent) & the music was too loud (& just bad). The employees seemed both bored & nervous, with not much to do to occupy themselves. I was one of the only people in the bar, so I felt like I was under scrutiny - I'm certain this wasn't intentional but it was unfortunately how it came across. I brought a book but couldn't focus because of the lights & the music. I even caught myself with my fingers in my ears, trying to muffle the sounds of 2010s hyper pop. I have nothing against 2010s hyperpop, it's just that there's a time & place for everything, & maybe that isn't at a wine bar at 8 PM on a Wednesday. I just wanted to be done with my glass of wine so that I could leave. All of that being said, I wish them the best. It seems like they need a good manager's touch.
