This was my first time at Vine Bar and probably my last. We started with the small board and it was a generous board of sliced meats and cheeses. We ordered the Gnocchi and Goat Cheese Salad to share. The food was enough for two however both are inedible. The Gnocchi was way too salty even for a salt liver like me and the Goat cheese Salad with Citrus vinaigrette was all vinegar. We were there 9/6/26 with reservation for 7. It was loud -- could deal with that. There was very noisy group in the lounge area. Bit of a bummer to not be able to converse normally but can work with that. What drives this review is fact that it took over an hour to get steak bavette and risotto. Restaurant was not crowded. I understand kitchen gets backed up. I'm that case the server needs to come by, explain, make sure drinks are full. Didn't happen last night -- he came by about 35 minutes after we ordered. Didn't offer my son refill and very wish washy with me. This is wine bar -- with the wait, push the wine. I asked him about timing and he said kitchen was backed up. He never came back. Runner delivered the food. Son finished and went to bathroom. Server cleared his plate & brought me bill while I was still eating. No check in on quality of long awaited dinner. No offer of dessert. No offer to comp anything. Goes without saying the tip was more modest than my typical tip. I understand kitchen can get backed up and that end of summer staffing can be questionable. Even offering grace for those things, this was bad service. Food was good -- but wouldn't have ordered if we knew it would take 70 minutes to get it. read more

We've been to Vine Bar before - on trivia and non-trivia nights - and have always been pleased. We particularly enjoy the opportunity to sample interesting and unique wines and to share a variety of small bites instead of the traditional large entrees. Location is also great, decor is inviting, etc. Over the last two visits, though, we have seen a real drop in service. During our most recent we were sitting at the bar, and there were maybe 12-15 guests total in the restaurant. Even still, it was almost impossible to put in our drink order. The bartender spent most of the time at the far end of the bar chatting with the manager. Yes, it appears that's where the drink orders come in, but he wasn't monitoring the rest of the bar, and she wasn't monitoring the rest of the room. I was channeling this phrase in my head: "look up!" They are going to have to up their game to keep up with the competition on Front St. Credit where credit's due: food and wine were still great! read more

My husband and I decided to try Vine Bar on a Friday night without a reservation. Despite a ten-minute wait due to understaffing, we were offered seats at the lounge area, where we were told we could order drinks. Unfortunately, we waited quite a while for someone to take our drink order, and when we finally flagged down a hostess, she seemed unsure of how to assist us. Eventually, we were seated at the kitchen bar (which would not be our first choice in the future). The restaurant's atmosphere felt chaotic, with staff members seeming disorganized. Our server finally took our order: a spinach dip appetizer for us both, and a catch of the day (cod) with vegetables and a minced sauce for me, while my husband ordered a steak. While we were still enjoying our drinks, our food arrived in an unexpected manner. The steak and spinach dip were brought out at the same time, and when we questioned the server, they apologized and offered to take the spinach dip off the bill but we could still have it. However, my husband declined, and I was left waiting for my main course. When my food finally arrived, I found the fish and sauce to be delicious, but the Brussels sprouts were undercooked. I felt the meal lacked a substantial side dish like mashed potatoes to complement the sauce. The meal itself isn't very filling so to address this, I asked the server if we could still get the spinach dip that we had ordered and was still on the counter, and they gave it to us, which helped fill me up.My husband enjoyed his meal, except for a hair he found in his carrots. By this point, we were too frustrated to mention it. We considered ordering dessert but decided against it due to our overall experience. While we appreciate the restaurant's ambiance, we wouldn't recommend it for a full dinner. The menu choices for their larger plates still seemed more focused on smaller, tapas-style dishes, which might not be ideal for those seeking a substantial meal. We might give this place another chance, but we'll likely visit during the day for just drinks and appetizers rather than a full dinner. read more

Went back recently... new bartender kinda stinks. Older guy free pouring drinks. Very mediocre Manhattan and their signature gin cocktail was a miss. Been coming here for a few months and when I saw the layout of the restaurant I was intrigued, feeling a bit like I was at a European specialty. The staff was friendly and happy to help me choose a wine that was both new to me and similar to the reds that I enjoy in the colder months. Since I have now been in a few times, I am delighted to see the new additions to the menu, both for food and wine. I'll be back again and again. Great place! read more

Phenomenal new restaurant on Front Street in Scituate. The owner also owns a wine and craft beer store in Cohasset and is super knowledgeable about wine. The wine list here is fantastic (as is the craft beer selection), and the staff will help you pick the best wine to pair with your food if you want. They also do have a full liquor license if you are interested in cocktails. As for the food, there are a lot of tapas-style plates of shareable items and different size charcuterie boards. Everything we ordered was beautifully presented and delicious. The French onion grilled cheese was particularly amazing. The staff that we interacted with were all friendly and helpful. Very cool decor and ambiance as well. We will definitely be back, and I see this becoming a go-to destination on the South Shore. read more

They also order all red and red/white as well as wine and Prosecco options. Thoroughly enjoyed the vibe and the staff was very friendly and informative. This is perfect place for glass of wine with friends for a small nibble or a entree from there inventive menu. They serve flights of wine which my wife enjoyed (Naty) 4 glasses of delicious whites. My Wife thought 3 of the selections were excellent and the 4th was very good. I enjoyed a perfectly prepared Old Fashion and a awesome Vitamin C IPA. Vine Bar I moved to Scituate late summer of this year. Going into Vine Bar for a drink and to check out the beautiful ambiance with my friend after finishing up my move turned into becoming a regular at the establishment. Since my first visit, the food, wine cocktails, and food have been consistently outstanding with each visit. The staff and the chef go above and beyond to accommodate my multiple allergies so I can eat a high quality meals/snacks safely. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about food and beverage. The beverage menu is extremely unique. The food menu is seasonal, so there is always something delicious and new to try. I have loved every food item I have had at Vine Bar. The wine flights and Cosmos are my favorite! I have brought friends & family from out of town into Vine Bar and the staff always ensures that my guests and I feel welcome. I have eaten there many times since they opened, the first 3 or 4 times we enjoyed our food and drinks, then as time went on the food seem to get less and less appetizing, the last 2 or 3 times it was downright un-appetizing and also more and more expensive. I've been treating myself to dinner out once a week around Scituate and trying different restaurants. Vine Bar is one that I won't go back to. I got a nice table by the front window and ordered a drink. After I got my drink, I didn't see my water for a long time. The restaurant was busy so I was trying be patient. I finally asked the hostess to let my waiter know I was ready to order. She came back with her electronic pad and took my order for Mac and Cheese. I waited and waited and waited. Someone came over to check on me, and I said that I was getting ready to leave. He went to check on my food order, and voila, it came out about 5 minutes later. A few people came over to apologize - the bartender, the manager (maybe), the server. Apparently my ticket got lost. The food was good, but I kept waiting for someone to offer me a free drink maybe or a free dessert, but nope. After I was finished eating, I waited for someone to bring me my check, and I decided to start putting on my coat, hat, and gloves hoping that someone would notice I was ready. I finally asked the same hostess for my check. Paid, left, and walked home. read more

I got married last night and after having my after party crew get turned down from a different bar, my bride and I felt helpless and like our wonderful wedding was going to end on a sour note. But NOPE, out pops Jenn and Shannon from Vine Bar who invited us in and then threw us the best party of our life! The staff and owners were unbelievable, dancing with us and having the time of their lives while joining us in having the time of our lives! I am so excited there is a new place in town that actually cares about service and their patrons. It was such a cool and beautiful bar with cool and beautiful people working there. I'm not usually the type of person to leave reviews but I have been very disappointed by the staff at the Vine Bar. I have been twice to this establishment. The first time, they gave me some trouble over not having a reservation. When I tried to explain that I couldn't get through to their phones they were dismissive of that issue, but I let it go because they were newly opened. The second time I went in was more recent. I went in with some coworkers on a Thursday evening after a long day at work. We were, admittedly, dressed down in sweatshirts and jeans. On this day, the restaurant was quiet and we were seated right away. Upon sitting, we all ordered a drink but did not order food. Big mistake. Within 20 minutes a different waitress came to us to let us know that in the future, if we were not planning on eating food we could not have a table. She also let us know that they had a reservation coming soon so we should "keep this in mind". Later, we were asked to move to make space for the people coming in. We complied, and ordered another drink in our new location. However, once we received the second drink, we were informed that we only had about an hour in our new spot before someone else needed our table. All in all, we were reminded THREE times to hurry along due to other customers coming in. Yet, when we left the original table we had been seated in still was not filled. So, my point in writing this is to ask the Vine Bar staff to please- do better. Unfortunately, I left wondering if our being underdressed was the real problem that night as it was not busy but yet we were scolded, asked to move tables, and informed of the importance of other people's reservations three times. Had a great experience at Vine Bar this weekend. We made last minute reservations on a Friday night and were able to get in on a cancellation. Rather than wait for our table open, we took two seats that opened at the bar. Mike, our bartender was fantastic! Personable and attentive. He clearly enjoys his job. The menu is small plates and shareable dishes - think tapas. We sampled a small charcuterie board, Just nuts, the panzanella salad and a Solomillo sirloin steak dish! The food was well timed, perfectly prepared and delicious. I'm not typically a wine drinker so it can be intimidating finding something I like, so I typically steer clear. Jenn, their GM and Advanced sommelier was amazing! I didn't feel foolish, instead she put me completely at ease, asked what I like or don't like and we settled on a wonderful Riesling! She explained that while some wines may pair better with certain foods, there is no right or wrong choice. In the end it's about personal taste and what you like. Her selection was perfect for me! First of all, I am 54 years old and since I was three years old I travel by restaurant. I have lived in Scituate half of my life and I was excited about this new restaurant. I had the worst experience there ever. At the hostess Stand, they stopped me I was just going for a drink at the bar and the person said that they were on the phone and thought that the two seats at the bar were taken and then they gladly told me I could go. She was hot and sweaty and clearly unprofessional! My bartender was amazing. Subsequently, My daughter and her friends went there, because i said, maybe i caught them on a bad night. Not only was the hostess rude, once again, they told them to leave they could not accommodate them, they would have been fine waiting outside till a bar seat was available, but they weren't given that option. They left and went to TKO Malley's, because I told them to and they were very disappointed. read more

You can close early if you want to, but maybe have rolling end time instead of putting customers on a time crunch. Came in on a Sunday 3 hours prior to close. Wait staff told us we had less than a half hour to get food in because kitchen staff was closing early. she gestured around and said there was no one there and they wanted to close at 7:30 instead of 9 PM. So we went into a rush to get food in and we were all hungry, so worried about gauging how much food to order in short period of time. They were planning on closing early due to lack of customers, yet waitress kept her back to us majority of time so we couldn't get refills/additional food promptly. Watched the waitstaff get annoyed and roll their eyes when multiple other patrons came in through our time there, since they wanted to leave early. Can you not update your hours on Google then? Maybe just change your hours for Sundays permanently. read more
