If I can give a half star I'd give 3.5 stars. First impression, the restaurant is very grand and has lots of room. Staff were friendly, service would get 4 stars. Cocktails were decent, presentation wise it was excellent. Food was hits and misses (forgot to take pics of entrees). The chicken Marsala was on the sweet side so you can skip it if you don't like food to be sweet. Duck entree and clams appetizer were the stars of the night. Lots of selection for desserts. Can't go wrong here, a great place to mingle. I'd definitely come back to try more dishes for sure. read more

Great service and nice restaurant. Sat at the bar on a busy booming Saturday. The bartender in front of us was making drinks the entire time we were sitting there. He was like a machine !!! lol. His arms must've been killing him !! If he reads this he needs to know he's a rockstar. Anyways for food we got the ribeye and the rigatoni with short rib ragu. The flavors were all delicious. I do wish there was a little more short rib on mine but that's really my only critique. I got the spicy tequila drink it was fantastic also. I will also say the menu here is very small. Amazing tiles on the walls, the ceiling had plant boxes, and just overall beautiful table/booths Rolls come in a paper bag with oil and they were great, they're made fresh throughout the day. We got the Eggplant rollatini appetizer and holy moly melt in your mouth good. The sauce was unbelievably good and had a deep robust flavor. It was a light item that came with 3 rolls. That's where the good part ended honestly. When it came to the meals, it was very lacking and disappointing. My friend and I got the tortellone and it had zero flavor. My other friend got a salmon dish and the salmon was good but everything else on the plate was bland and did not get finished. read more

Scutari on the South Shore! First time dining here at Scutari, one of the many restaurants in the Alba family. We had Erisa as our server and she was lovely. The restaurant is large with 2 different sections: bar and casual dining. Since it was our anniversary we sat on the casual dining section. We started off with a split of Veuve to celebrate. We also had their eggplant rollatini as an appetizer. It was fantastic! We both enjoyed it. For entrees, I ordered the Chix Piccata and my husband had the Pappardelle al Ragu. Headed to Alba's third foray into its restaurant empire. This one may be the best of the three. Well-done Italian-American fare seems to be their style. If you want innovative --this isn't your place, but I'll bet you will leave happy and satisfied. The place is much larger than I anticipated. The tonal coloring helps to ground the place and also evoked a feeling of a Tuscan countryside. The tree decorations on the ceiling might have helped that feeling along. On this particular Saturday night, room was buzzing. Dishes rolled out in quick succession and amidst it all our server very attentive and patient. As with any newer place, there were some hits and misses but on balance (and in the words of Tom Cruise) the hits kept on coming. Swordfish was well-cooked and the Castelvetrano olives were a trendy but good choice as they stood up to the firmer texture of the swordfish. Could have done with less parmesan in the "creamy" polenta which pushed the dish a touch on the saltier side. Lasagna, straight forward and cooked well. A nice balance of meat and cheese. Arancini? - nothing to see here, but ok for what they were. A special mention to the focaccia bread which the owner has served in a bag. I am still thinking about what that signals... Dr. Jekyll asked that I try by itself the house made sauce sitting around the arancini. Bitter -- perhaps overcooked (I didn't ask). Mr. Hyde was fine with the same sauce around the lasagna (perhaps the bechamel helped it). I intend to try it again on return. Did I like my tequila, blood orange, jalapeno-infused currant drink? Not really -- the sweetness won over in the battle of ingredients, so perhaps less would have been more here. I'll be back -- and this time asking for a Negroni. read more

The waitress was very attentive although I had no silverware for the first 40 minutes there which was slightly strange and then when they brought me some, they didn't bring me all of it. The ambience was nice very beautiful inside there was tons of space although the food definitely left some stuff lacking the bread came cold in a paper bag even though I knew it was coming in a paper bag and I heard it was gonna be cold from other reviews. I didn't think it would be, but it was . They gladly swapped out the pasta in my dish, and I thought my dish was delicious although my girlfriend and her friend were both supremely underwhelmed at their dishes and they honestly didn't even look good I didn't take a picture of my friends. It looked like beef stew on top of pasta. She ate two bites so overall I would say that it is OK to go there but if you can find something better in the area I would go although if you do go at least get the shrimp scampi. read more

This is a beautiful restaurant space that needs a focused and quality controlled Italian menu. Decent cocktail program and bar staff for a place that wants to be a bit upscale. Good waitstaff but after 6 visits, the food has been wildly inconsistent. Not always clear if it's even an Italian restaurant. Sauce is a cornerstone of such a place and it seems different every time and mostly not in a good way. Also avoid the pizza. Dough is a very decent Neapolitan style but over priced and they construct the pizza with a comically huge outer crust leaving very little real estate for sauce and toppings. Get a real Italian chef/menu program in there and it would own the Italian restaurant scene south of Boston. Not a player as is though. read more

The outside is deceiving because once you walk into this place, it is gorgeous. You can tell by my pictures I clearly love the decor, but the food was amazing as well. Tasty, fresh, and great portioning. The presentations for everything was beautiful and out server was super helpful with deciding what choices to be made (because there were so many good options). We even chatted for a bit. The ONLY reason I didn't give a 5/5 is because the desserts were beautiful, but not as tasty as the dinner. At least, the tiramisu wasn't which was so sad. Just not good. But beautiful inside. Had a Caesar salad, three pizzas. Kids cheese, margarita, one other, and something with pasta and red sauce. Salad was meh. Margarita pizza had so much greasy/oily cheese and the basil was burned to dust that no one wanted to try it. Looked disgusting. The last pizza similarly had so much cheese the sauce wasn't visible. Just like oil on burned dough. No one tried that either. It looked like a future stomach ache. We all tried the kids cheese and was very forgettable. The pasta and red sauce was bland. Truly don't think it was homemade. It tasted like spaghettio's or something canned. Didn't realize it was more than a pizza place. Much better Italian food five minutes away in any direction. Well we were so looking forward to dining here as we heard good things about it. We generally look at the menu prior to going to restaurants and pretty much just need to hear the specials if there are any. We had picked the octopus appetizer and 3 entrees of which we would have chosen 2 for our dinner. Arrived for our reservation at 6:30 and was promptly seated and the server appeared immediately which was very nice. Ordered our cocktails and put in our appetizer order at the same time. My martini was perfect and his wine was a nice pour. The octopus was the worst. We eat octopus everywhere we can find it and whoever was in the kitchen this night had no idea how to clean an octopus before serving it. They left it's slimy gelatinous skin on it which made me spit it out into my napkin! I was beside myself to be honest. We tried slicing it off but it was still there. Now to the entree... all three we had chosen prior to going were SOLD OUT ALREADY!! It was 6:45! How can this be??? I know it is fairly new but it was Saturday evening which is a big night for most restaurants. Someone clearly was not paying attention. We entered up with Chicken Marsala for me and sweet Italian sausage with broccoli rabbi and pasta. Both were good but not what we wanted for sure. I will say the portions are generous and restaurant is lovely inside. Will wait awhile before going back. Hopefully they will read this review and rectify the issues! read more

This restaurant has a nice open, airy atmosphere, a seat near the door would be nice while you wait. The fresh warm bread was delicious. We tried the market green salad and it had an odd tasting dressing, salad was basically lettuce, needed cheese or nuts or cranberries? The Margherita pizza was delicious and tasted fresh with a nice crust. The Ricotta Gnocchi was sticky, needed parmesan and was skimpy with mushrooms. Our waiter was friendly but a bit pushy taking away things when we were not even finished. Hoping they can make some improvements here. read more

After reading some of these positive reviews, maybe I should try again. Perhaps we went on a bad night, but my wife and I were very disappointed. The green salad looked beautiful but was quite bland. I had the short rib. The sauce was so salty it was almost inedible. The kind of salt that makes your mouth hurt. That along with the incredibly salty prosciutto made me almost send it back which is something I've never done. My wife has spinach ravioli which did have a nice flavor but were beyond al dente. Chewy was more the texture. Our waitress was perhaps just inexperienced, but she kept trying to push the $56 stuffed lobster and a full bottle of wine. She actually sat visibly to the side watching when I said I needed more time with the menu and then pounced when I put it down. The place was not busy. Back off please! We ate outside and it was nice , the pizza had prosciutto topping and it's Neapolitan style, very tasty. The hostess was super nice - she said the dining room was full for the rest of the (Saturday) night but told us a high top table in the bar area was about to open up, so we didn't wait long. Our waitress was great too but that's where the good stuff ends. The house-made bread was served in a paper bag. Odd. And it was COLD, like it had come out of the fridge. The butter served with it was hard and nearly impossible to spread on cold bread. The calamari app was so salty I barely touched it. And the house-made pasta in my entree (pappardelle with short ribs) was not cooked enough. The short ribs were fatty and also extremely salty. We are out of MA visiting for our granddaughter for a dance recital and found out many of the restaurants are closed until 4 or 5 on Sundays or serve only brunch. We wanted to eat after the recital at 2:30 or 3 and Scutari was open! What a Wonderful Experience! The bread and olive oil to start were delicious. We moved to the entrees and the Chicken Piccata was for 2 in our party and so well served and fantastic! The Rigatoni Bolognese was the best my husband has tasted! The flavors and meat came together so well! The waitstaff was excellent and attentive with having our water filled when needed. Awful. Noisy, overpriced sub par food. The bread comes in a bag and it was right out of the fridg. It was under cooked so there was a layer of goo on the bottom. We tried Scutaro for the first time on a late Saturday afternoon. Great vibe to the restaurant with two separate sides... the bar & Dining Room. We started with an excellent Caesar Salad, which the kitchen split for us (putting all the anchovies on my wife's plate, as requested). We both really liked our entrees... a tasty and beautifully plated lasag a d an excellent Chicken Marsala. Both entrees were reasonably priced and offered both quality and quantity. My wife brought home enough Chicken Marsala for another complete meal. Service by Brian and the support staff was also excellent. We had a reservation on busy Saturday night, got seated promptly and ordered drinks. Service was fast and attentive. After the delicious eggplant parmigiana and mussels, we had our entrees in. The server was always making sure to refill waters and then offered wine suggestions. Our entrees were cooked to perfection. The lasagna was very tasty and such was the braised short rib. Having enjoyed Scutari 3-4 times previously and have always had an amazing meal and drinks at ALBA. Went to Scutari last night and sat at the bar for dinner with a guest. Eggplant Rollatini which is always a favorite came out very quick however just luke warm. Not wanting to complain, we finished and assumed a small oversight. My guest had the Veal Chop special and it was amazing. I ordered the Sammon and was very disappointed. The Broccoli Rabe was cool to cold in spots, butternut risotto lacked flavor and very starchy tasting. Unfortunately half way through the Sammon it was not cooked thoroughly, could not finish it. By the time the bartender came by to check on our meal one of the other staff members had cleared the plates. He had asked how dinner was and I expressed my experience with my dinner and not much of a reaction, somewhat disappointing. I have enjoyed the dining there in the past but probably not rushing back.
