Another great dinner and drinks at Reali's, Johnston, RI. We had early reservations, and were the first ones in the restaurant Saturday night. Staff is always pleasant and friendly. It looked like only 1 waitress and 3 other bussers working together like a well-oiled machine. They were rock stars! We started with our usual zucchini fries, which are hand cut. Sooo sooo good!! Homemade hot bread and oil came out, as well as our sangria's, one white and one red. Delicious!! Oh, and filling! I had eggplant canneloni, with a side of pasta. It was very good, and I have lunch for tomorrow! My husband had chicken Italia, which also looked delicious. He wouldn't share a bite!! The place isn't super big, and there is a bar, and it was filling up by the time we left. We weren't rushed, the waitress ( I wish I could remember her name ) checked in with us often enough, and we were very happily satisfied when we left. Haven't been to Reali's since the pandemic, but were frequent customers before then. My margareta tasted like gasoline and chicken saltimbuca was not prepared in the classic way, there was no mozzarella or demi sauce, just grated parm cheese sauce and little shreds of italian ham, it was pretty awful. The bread was great!. The building could use some freshening up, old, dirty carpeting and the door was crying for fresh paint. Off our list. read more

We have added Reali's Restaurant to our regular rotation. In fact, we have been dining there almost every week. The food is excellent, and so is the service. Some of our favorites are chicken and veal parm, eggplant (which they offer two ways), ravioli, chicken marsala, and last night I had the linguini in red clam sauce, and it was absolutely delicious. We're Italian, and my husband is pretty fussy about his red sauce. He loves the sauce at Reali's, and the bread cannot be beat. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, and there is plenty of parking. It's VERY small. Like 10 maybe 12 tables and is always packed. Secondly it's so busy and they typically only have one or two waitresses working so it can be a bit on the slower side getting drink refills or more bread, things of that nature. Lastly for the price which mirrors many other Italians joints in the area entrees don't include salad. Even Olive Garden includes it... just some food for thought. We came for dinner, there were two of us. If the review was only based on food, I would have given it a 5. I had the eggplant cannelloni and it was delicious. It was cooked perfect and came with a side of pasta. I really loved this dish. What brought my review to a 3 was the service and employees. A few things that happened... The server counted her tips in front at the bar. We wanted refills on our drinks, but the server was on her phone at the bar. None of the plates were cleared from the table until we got the check at the end. My coat had fell behind my chair and no one ever mentioned it, the server and the bus person walked by it. We could here the kitchen staff swearing, laughing and yelling. An employee was telling a story at the bar and swearing loudly. The restaurant is small and intimate inside, but the staff gave it a bar feel. read more

This is a cozy little spot with a great menu. It doesn't look like much from the outside. Located in a short strip mall, there is ample parking. There's a small bar, dining room and kitchen. The service was amazing, the portions fairly generous and the drinks reasonably priced. We called ahead (on a Friday evening) and they recommended a reservation for 8:00pm. There were a few empty tables when we arrived. The bread basket is worth mentioning: A nIce, crusty loaf that was soft and warm in the middle. Individual pours of rosemary-infused olive oil were perfect! I initially ordered one of the nice variety of entree specials, but they'd just run out. I settled, instead, on Chicken Fra Diavolo. It was a piping hot bowl of linguini topped with chicken tenderloins, black olives and hot pepper rings. The spicy marinara was thick and delicious. The dish offers a lot of heat and could probably do without the pepper rings, but I like it hot. It was delicious and I couldn't finish the pasta, which made a wonderful doggy bag. My date decided upon the Jumbo Cheese Ravioli, also piping hot and smothered in their thick, delicious sauce. Luckily, I live nearby. We can't wait to return! read more

Good Food, Small Portions Went to Reali's for the first time after driving by it for many years. I was pleasantly surprised! I went with my wife and we were very happy with service and the food. Our server was great. She knew the menu well and since this was our first visit we asked her several questions about the meals and she described each dish withoutany hesitation. We each had a main course which were all equally as good but the appetizer which was Bruschetta was outstanding! It was a busy Friday night and it did get a little loud but our server did not rush us in any way. We will be going back in the near future. The only issue is that we ordered a fish meal to split and the portion was pretty small, seeing that this is a RI Italian restaurant which portion are usually huge, this was surprising. 2.5/ Average at best. Paid $54.00 for Veal Parm and Chicken Francese. Waaaay overpriced and it's most irritating because the menu online is not accurate in regards to pricing or menu options. You don't get a soup or salad just seems unreasonable to pay $54.00 for what we received. Also, maybe it's just me but I've never heard of a Francese dish served with pasta and red sauce on the side. This dish should be served with a white wine lemon sauce. This just caught me off guard but to be fair, I did not read the description before ordering. I went here on a weekday night at about 6:00pm and the place was half full (but its a small intimate type restaurant). Its dark and has a cozy feel to the restaurant. The table we were seated at was a 2 seat table, but it was very small and there are no booths in the restaurant, which I personally prefer. The chairs are arrow back type chairs and hard, no cushions. One drawback from our table was the bright neon light in the window creating glare. The service was quite good. I had a glass of Berringer White Zinfandel, and then they brought the crusty warm from the oven bread which was perfect. I had the Sole Francaise and a side of ziti with sauce, my friend had the scrod creole and spaghetti. We each had a chocolate mouse parfait for dessert. The pasta was good, maybe could have been a little more Al Dente, but the sauce was very good, and being Italian I'm picky about sauce! I enjoyed the Sole Francaise too, excellent. I purchased a groupon for Reali's to try something different. The restaurant isn't too large or too small and while its tight it still has a cozy feel too it. I had the chicken parm and my girlfriend had the chicken Giovanni. The chicken parm came with a generous portion of chicken. It was tender and well fried, just slightly oily. The sauce was ok, to me, a very standard pasta sauce. The chicken giovanni was equally well cooked but the peppers and mushrooms were noticeably salty. The service was good. My only knock is that I ordered penne rather than linguini and before my dish came out the waitress came back to ask if I had ordered the linguini and I said no, I ordered the penne. When the dish arrived it came with linguini. I didn't make a stink as I typically don't unless something really egregious happens, but was surprised it happened despite the correction. In all the food was good, but to me, it didn't separate itself from other places I've gone to and it didn't rise to the level of being among the best I've had. It was also a little more expensive than other restaurants I've been to. I wouldn't discourage someone from trying it, but it wouldn't be on my top 5 list of Italian restaurants I'd recommend. read more

In fact, as evident in other reviews, many parties came in while we there were familiar with the wait staff - I assume repeat customers. I had the gnocchi Alfredo which was a bit salty but I ate every bite. My wife had the chicken marsala and she raved about it. We had dessert which was not the best decision because A) we were full and B) it was pretty standard. Lastly, try to avoid being seated at the two person table against the wall directly across from the front door. Very good classic Italian food. It's a small little hole in the wall place that you probably drive by all the time and wonder about. That's how I found myself here. The waitstaff looks young, but they are definitely professional and we had great service. (My only minor gripe is that my chardonnay was a bit sweet... I don't think it was what I ordered, but I'm not picky so I didn't care too much.) Before dinner, the serve you a boule bread with some EVOO. This is absolutely the best bread I've ever had at a restaurant. We started pulling pieces off, but had to slow down because it was still steaming hot! So very fresh. We totally devoured the whole thing without stopping for a breath. I ordered a baked scrod topped with bread crumbs. The fish was fresh and the butter/crumb topping was great. I opted for potato and vegetable as my sides, which was a baked potato and braised cabbage. The cabbage was SO good! Normally I am not excited by cabbage but this was good stuff. The added in some roasted red peppers and it really made it happen. My boyfriend got the eggplant parmigiana with a side of pasta, and he said it was excellent. Somehow we made room for dessert when we overheard that they had chocolate lava cake.... so good. We'll be back.... My family was recommended to try Reali's by a friend and we're so glad that we did. Don't be fooled by the lack of décor outside of the restaurant, it's totally worth your time. The wait staff is friendly and the food is amazing. Right when you walk in, they throw bread into the oven so that it's always warm when it comes to your table. Make sure to reserve a table, as they typically only take reservations and refuse walk-ins (sometimes you can be lucky but it's pretty much a 50/50 shot). I didn't like this place, and I won't go back. Having said that, it wasn't the fault of my waitress, who was very friendly and attentive. Rather, it was the poor quality of the food and odd overall vibe. Prices are quite high for portion size, and none of the dishes we ordered were worth it. A shrimp dish had so little seafood that I had to break out my Holmes Magnifying Lens™ to find it. The veal had an almost putrid odor. Spinach was all stem, and I felt like I was eating raw fronds on Palm Sunday. When we arrived, the place was empty, yet still the hostess asked if we had reservations. It seemed presumptuous, but the worst was yet to come. At the height of the meal shortly after the food had arrived, an older female employee blasted Windex on all the nearby tables. It's not worth the money even with the groupon you spend $40-$50 out of pocket regardless after paying $25 for the $40 worth of food on a weekend or weekday before 830 pm. Been here a couple times with the wife and kids. Food is pretty consistent. I always leave with a full stomach because there portions are quite big! Good for a guy like me with a big appetite. However I have to say the service was so bad last night (Tuesday) of visiting that I almost question if I should come back. I got serviced by a woman named Josie or Josiah if I remember correctly. On top of her lack of service, she smelled of marijuana and cigarettes. She was very smiley but seemed all over the place and confused. I really quite enjoyed the food I got from here last night. I got stuffed mushrooms and tortellini carbonara. The bread I have to say was my favourite part lol, the stuffed mushrooms were alright due to the odd tasting mornay that went with it but to their defense I ate it colder due to getting take out and then proceeding to wait to eat . the tortellini was great, it just needed some peas to truly make it a carbonara. My friend ate there today with her mother. When paying the bill her mother asked for the manager. The owner came to the table. Her mother told him the food was great but the drink prices was a little ridiculous ($7 ginger ale). His response "get the fuck out lady". My friend was already waiting in the car. Her mother told her what happened was they were leaving so she called the owner and told him he should be ashamed of himself talking to her. Mother like that. His response "go fuck yourself". I will never step foot In this place! They don't deserve the business. Groupon has already been contacted and they actually refunded my friend because of this awful treatment. This restaurant has been near my house for 26 years and I never bothered to give it a shot. I saw that they had a great Groupon deal and finally decided to give it a shot. My friend and I started with a bottle of wine and realized that their selections were mainly cheap wines from the local liquor store. The appetizer we split was a special that night - stuffed peppers with mozzarella. They were fantastic. The entrees were both fish based. She had the salmon and I had another nightly special which was a baked cod with shrimp. We both had potato and vegetable as a side. The food was well prepared but we could count the number of potatoes and vegetables we had in our plates on one hand which was unfortunate.
