We live close to Trattoria Express so I've been here a few times now. Each time I feel as though it's been just okay. The restaurant itself is beautiful. I love the decor, deli, and the bar. It's a nice addition but I feel as though it does make the restaurant a little cramped. I stopped in last night with my partner and my dad. We had Ryan for a waiter and I think he was spread a little too thin as I had seen him behind the bar the whole night. He was by no means rude and clearly busy but it definitely seemed as though he didn't check in as much as he could have. As for the food itself it's always been nice. Not stellar and by far not my favorite Italian places but serviceable. The prices are borderline reasonable to pricey, with my meal being $25. I would say $25 is a little steep for two pieces of chicken. However, the portions are gracious enough to leave you full but not bursting and the food always does taste fresh. My Chicken Sorrentino was good but I didn't get a lot of prosciutto which was disappointing. I'll keep coming here because it's close but if you want amazing Italian food try Federal Hill in Providence. read more

Fabulous entrees for dining in or you can choose from their wide selection of food that is offered for takeout. I had the parpadelle made with truffle oil, mushrooms, asparagus, and prosciutto and it was delicious. My friend had the tortellini soup and the veal Marsala and she really enjoyed it. We finished with mini cannolis made with amaretto cream, very tasty. Their bread was a type of rustic sourdough and it was superb! I was told it's provided by a bakery in Brockton called Montilios. you can purchase the bread from the restaurant which is what I did. I really enjoyed my meal and so will you! read more

Kind of bummed. This restaurant group is always consistent and the food is always fresh and very good. Second time at this location and both times the food was gross. First time I ordered a lemon torte dessert that did not taste home made and had a stale chalky taste to it. Today I got the Italiano sandwich, about $12 without tip, and there was nothing to it. There's a small portion of meat, couldn't taste oil & vinegar, and it was bland. It's disappointing for how expensive everything is right now, that they knock it out of the park for complex dishes but not for the basics. I would've rather spend the extra $6+ and gotten a pasta dinner dish that was tasty and filling. Would recommend the actual restaurant next door or the pizza place over this location. Excellent. If you are looking for a cute, comfortable cafe with indoor and outdoor seating, variety and great food this is the place. They're known as Trattoria Express or TR Ginger. Its basically a more casual cafe version of Trattoria Romana. I had a classic cheeseburger with steak fries, and an Italian orange soda. The cheeseburger was so tender, juicy and flavorful. The fries were great too. They also have enthusiastic and professional staff, Italian type music, and food to desserts to smoothies. Waited service starts after 3pm. This is my favorite I think of the 3 in that Lincoln place. It has so many options on the menu. Do I want a fun cheese board and meats kind of lunch? Do I want a sandwich? How about a nice heavy pasta meal? I could get drinks and just some bruschetta?!? Honestly so many options it's hard to choose. The atmosphere is clean and bright, tables very close together but this is their lunch spot or a quick dinner spot. You want intimate, have dinner after 430 next door. Our waitress on 3/23 was SO nice and so kind to my baby girl. It's a little expensive, out lunch h came to $120 with tip for 2 adults and an infant, but that's our fault because we got apps and 2 desserts. Speaking of desserts, they have so many in the case!!! I wish they were able to do in-house and have a pastry chef, I do think it would take this place even higher, but the options are plenty and I'd say they're great to take home, desserts like a 3/5. My cheesecake was amazing but my brownie wasn't so great. Overall this is a great spot in the local chain. It's quick, but full service. Oh and I must mention, I hate salad, lettuce just isn't my thing but the salads I saw keep passing my table look like works of art! I had been having a hard time finding a decent carbonara and constantly being left disappointed at various places we went to. My girlfriend works not too far from around here and came here one day on lunch and told me we must come back back I will not longer be searching for a good carbonara, and she was right! Last night we had to wait maybe ten minutes, the hostess was on top of game as two other women arrived after us and played the "we knew you mother" and "how much of a rush they were in" card but they were told they would still need to wait after us. Our waitress was very friendly, we have had her in the past. During the course of the dinner another waitress walked over and asked how our meal was and made small friendly talk. After her, I and I'm not sure if she is an owner, or manager, another lady approached us and asked how our meal was. I like this in an establishment. The desserts here are amazing! We usually end up taking home dessert because we always leave stuffed! My girlfriend took home the Coconut Cream Cake, and I took home the Alpine Chocolate Cake. read more

We live nearby and get take-out occasionally. I really enjoy the interesting variety of salads they have. My family enjoys the linguine with white clam sauce and the authentic crusty Italian bread. I like that they offer an option of vegetables in place of pasta. I do find the pricing to be a little high but the quality of the food is there. Food a #1since i burned the roof of my mouth eating the beef stew & soup not very tasty. 1st timer with a friend who highly recommended eating here this past thursday around 4 pmish. Ordered the squash salad which was tasty along with the crusty bread. I didn't like the pasta soup and the wait staff was happy to replace it with the beef stew. The beef stew was watery, not much flavor. The soup was so piping hot it burned the roof of my mouth. Finally healed by today Sunday. That was my very 1st time burning my mouth from soup at an establishment. I didn't say anything to the wait staff. Me and my family get 2 Alfredo's (one with shrimp one with chicken) and 1 chicken Parm to go and we eat at home. the first thing I noticed when I opened the To-go box is that there was no shrimp visible in my food. After some digging I find 3 measly shrimp the size of my thumb in my food(10 dollars extra by the way), in the other alfredo the chicken was cut into baby sized pieces. And the alfredo itself was not good, I found that the pasta has 30% cheese and 70% butter which was quite distasteful. If it wasn't for the chicken Parm then this place would deserve 0 stars. I could have probably spent the same amount at the restaurant Nextdoor trattoria romana. Very disappointed, I hope this restaurant makes big improvements for the future read more

Calamari was outstanding with marinara sauce and red cherry peppers perfectly cooked and breaded calamari. Chicken parmigiana with angel hair very good and you won't be disappointed. Alfredo with added chicken and broccoli the same. Nice fresh bread with extra virgin olive is amazing. Deserts very good and you can see them in the dessert chest in front of you. I stopped by Trattoria Express yesterday and picked up a big slice of lasagna and some risotto balls for dinner. The risotto balls were amazing, the lasagna was so salty we couldn't eat it and ended up throwing it in the trash. I was so disappointed as we frequent Trattoria Romano often and have never had a bad meal there. I don't know if the chef staff changed or what the deal was. Ordered a sandwich and the counter man checked his watch and said, "OK, you have time, just order over at the other counter", which I did and had a Tuscan chicken sandwich along with a side of fries... I ask when should I pay and was incouragrd to pay before I got my food... it took payment, finalized the deal gave me my receipt and I guess left... I sat waiting for over 50 minutes before asking the state of my order and the new crew which had come in had no idea what I was talking a I produced my receipt they all checked with each other and eventually found my order... rookie mistake to which they attempted to make right by offering a cannoli but I'm diabetic and the fries were already more cards than I should have been eating. The food was just alright and I was I little disappointed with the chicken sandwich but it was not bad... just not anything to write home about. The original experience really set the tone... the eventual server tried to make up for the oversight but I was the only person in the joint and I was busy on my computer so time got away from me too but still had I not said anything???? 50 minutes for a sand and side of fries... with no one else to be cooking for... not good read more

First, the restaurant was really nice inside. It was really busy at lunch, and the deli cases were filled with a wide variety of cold cuts and prep foods. It all looked great. The guy ahead of me ordered an Italian sandwich, it sounded good, so I ordered the same. He was offered a choice of regular or hard roll.. I had a different server, and was not offered a choice of bread... and just got the regular roll, although I would have asked for the hard roll. The sandwich was pretty good, except for the sharp stem on a hot pepper ring that was sticking into the roof of my mouth. The stem had the texture of a wooden stick. That stem kinda ruined the enjoyment of eating it a little, like having a thumb tack in your sandwich would. I'll probably come back again and give it another shot, but I'll order something different.. because, sharp pepper stem aside, the sandwich was just average... especially for the price. read more

I have going to trattoria romana for over 15 years. we decided to have lunch at trattoria romana express today 5/20. I had a salad with chicken on it. I asked if the chicken could be spicy or blacked. They charged me for the Salad with the Chicken , and then again for the blacken chicken. The manger wouldn't take it off the charge, and wound not even speak with me. I guess i should have asked for the other chicken to take home lol. As they say it only takes one person to ruin the reputation of the firm. Its not about the money but the principal. The waitress was wonderful. Not sure if i will come back. read more

We ordered one large meatball and 3 arancini for $25. The arancini was mush inside not sure if it was mushy rice or mushy breadcrumbs. The large meatball was mushy, wet inside, the consistency of a raw mix uncooked. We tried cutting the meatball into four smaller pieces and cooking it more to try to get rid of the mushy consistency but it was still too wet and mushy. The sauce had a tin like taste and was a disappointment as well. The picture I took of the inside of the meatball shows how disgusting it was . I previously reviewed Trattoria Romana which is the "fancier" sit down whereas this is more of a deli and takeout spot. Although they have a few tables, I can't imagine I would dine in - the tables are awkwardly placed between two deli counters. I think I will stick to takeout. One thing that stood out to me was that staff were much friendlier at this location. 2nd visit here. Went with my wife (her 1st time) after having a business dinner and food was really good. The food is 5 star in taste + portions. The rosemary chicken wings are ridiculously awesome. That's were the good ends. Saturday night reservation for two, confirmed by name & phone. We get there and they can't find our reservation. "We have 5 restaurants maybe you chose the wrong one" Really?! Have a drink at the bar & we should have a table shortly. The "bar" was jam packed & the bartender SUCKED, holding a $20 and being visible we were ignored. Decided on the Insalata Alla Romana which was SUPPOSED to be the following: Wild arugula, Prosciutto di Parma, pine nuts shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese & drizzled with lemon & extra virgin olive oil dressing. Went here for a quick sandwich to go. Quick is not their strong point. And the menu boards are very confusing. And, they're pretty pricy. That being said, the sandwich was amazing...I'll give them that. And the staff was friendly & professional. Place was very clean too. Also, I feel like the table were a little too close to each other for my comfort. Base on that, I would come back to try more of their menu...but only when I have more time...and probably just as takeout...lol! Though, I hear the oysters are fantastic.
