Pizza heaven! This was my first time trying the personal pizzas and they did not disappoint! The service was top tier and they even put my Favorite show on the tv, I will definitely be back!

Shel D.

We decided to take a friend and his mom, who was visiting from out of state, out for dinner. We hit Trattoria. First off the queer o meter was a solid 10. All the staff was great. Ohhhh Trattoria!!! I'm grappling with this review. I adore the location - there's parking, some outdoor seating and a very nice decor. The tables have table clothes and nice settings; the "walk in" appearance is def upscale. My first run in was the table. Most of the 4 tops should've been a 2 top - we were taking things off the table to make room for the burrata board. We literally had to take the lamp off the table to be able to manage at all. And when 2 drinks came, along with 4 waters forget it. It was crammed. The burrata board was delish!! Nice presentation. My only con was I personally like my crostinis toasted and unseasoned - bread in its pure form. These were slightly over oiled and seasoned. Speaking of bread, the bread for the table was top notch. Soft and warm inside with a wonderful crusty outside. Perfection. The shrimp cocktail came with 3 large shrimps and cocktail sauce in a stemmed glass on ice. Nice. They were delicious. The entrees breakdown: SPAGHETTI E POLLO GENOVESE - is what I got sub shrimp and fettuccine noodles. The flavors were a high pitched "good!" You know "how's everything?" Good! Not great not terrible. I wanted a little more depth or pop from the sauce. More garlic? More pine nuts def! Splash lemon? Maybe. I couldn't pin point it. But it was good. The others got PAPPARDELLE ALLA BOLOGNESE TORTELLONI RIPIENI ALLA PRIMAVERA And POLLO FRANCESE 2 things happened here. 1. We wanted grated parmigiana. With the decor, authenticity of the menu and prices, I expected a high quality hand grated cheese. It was spooned out of a bowl and pre grated. 2. The pasta of all the dishes were gummy. I'm unsure if they were all overcooked? Or what happened here but all of us commented on the texture of the various pastas. They were all different too. Odd and off putting. As for the sauces of the other dishes they all said they were delicious but off set by the pasta, unfortunately. At the end we got decaf cappuccinos, decaf drip, lava cake and some strawberry dish special. This was the best course of the night. The cappuccinos were GREAT! Deep rich frothy. Perfect! The little spoon was plastic. Odd. The desserts were yummy. I would've liked homemade whipped cream, again for the prices and appearance I expect a notch up. The table size was a problem throughout. We couldn't get something without having to give something away. Anyhoo... here we are. Food 2.5 the extra 1/2 star to 3 was because I loved the sever. A real sweetheart. In summary for $250 (plus tip) for 4 people with only one getting a beer, I want more. It's sooooo close to tipping into being a home run. Unfortunately I can't take a $65pp risk on a maybe. You can do it Trattoria! I'll watch reviews to see if it ticks up and possibly try again, until then Ty for the hospitality and kindness. You do have a wonderful staff. CHEERS!

Went to this beautiful restaurant located in the heart of Johnston. We had a great round table so easy to talk n enjoy a birthday family dinner. We started with drinks which everyone loved then a burrata board which was incredible and great for a lil each party of 8. Thier house made bread was fabulous too. We all had different items for dinner and everyone raved about it . Finishing with dessert that was so good we forgot to take photos sorry ::/ We had a fantastic waitress she was so personable friendly and great service! We would say about $65 pp with a drink too! Great place with a few locations in RI so find one & go you will love it !

Beautiful ambience

This restaurant has such a great vibe. It reminds me of what Federal Hill used to be in its hey day without the aggravation of navigating the city parking, but with all the ambiance, service and attention to detail with the menu. We enjoyed a great burrata board which was teeming with tomatoes, prosciutto artichokes and olives and of course fresh burrata. A great special! Unfortunately, We had a swing and a miss on a red snapper special but I should have stuck to the great standard menu of Italian specialties which have never disappointed. Stick to the menu-it's what they do best! Sean, our server, was attentive. Right on top of things. Three stars because this spot really is a great place to enjoy good food and good company with a better choice on my behalf off menu.

Fettuccine Alfredo with lobster!

Omg. We called every where. All the restaurants slammed. But here. Walked right in. Sat right down by the bar. The drinks, ohh boy. Only had two. All you needed. I had fettuccine Alfredo and asked for lobster mixed in. Omg Fkn die for. Absolutely a munchie killer. Ate everything. The food, Top notch. The dessert, we ordered one of each. All gone. Darian the waiter from LSU! Nice son! Definitely be back!

We were seated immediately for lunch - no reservation, no wait. Our server was very attentive and super friendly. Our order came out rather quickly. The food overall was excellent but also on the salty side. Portions were large for lunch. I would absolutely recommend for a nicer lunch. Parking was easy in the lot.

Chicken, roasted peppers and cheese calzone

So, I have realized I reviewed Trattoria Romana ( I couldn't fix the restaurant name!), not Pizzeria Romana! This pizza restaurant is in the same plaza, but this review is for Pizzeria Romana. Stopped in here for dinner tonight. We came for sandwiches, but I ended up with the Fettuccine Genovese special. It was very good, but I would have liked more pesto! I was actually surprised at the amount of chicken there was in the dish. And it was good-- not dried out. Even though I enjoyed it, I'm not sure I would order it again. My husband had a calzone with chicken, roasted peppers and cheese. When he finally got it, I was practically done with my meal. He enjoyed it, but felt like he was eating alone! We weren't sure what to think; that had never happened before! Everytime we thought it was coming, it didn't. We will surely be back though, the food is too good to pass up!

My friend knows much more about wine than I do, so he was the decision maker for our wine choices and we ordered a 1/2 bottle of red which we both found to be very delicious. Of course, we had to try some food too and the small bites menu was perfect with something to satisfy nearly every taste. We opted for the meat charcuterie, and it was beautifully presented with enough for the two of us to share. There is also a cheese charcuterie on the menu, but unfortunately there is not an option for a combined meat and cheese plate. We sat, sipped, and tasted for a while and never felt rushed. The atmosphere was so comfortable and we'll definitely consider going back here again.

I can browse a liquor store & pick out a bottle that exactly fits my preferences, my mood, & my budget. I can bring it home & uncork the wine, checking the cork for freshness. I can pull out my special glassware & pour myself a glass of wine & enjoy it on my own couch. So why go out to a wine bar, if not for the wine? For me, it's for the ambience & the experience. Both of those things at Providence Wine Bar were lacking. The lights were too bright (overhead & fluorescent) & the music was too loud (& just bad). The employees seemed both bored & nervous, with not much to do to occupy themselves. I was one of the only people in the bar, so I felt like I was under scrutiny - I'm certain this wasn't intentional but it was unfortunately how it came across. I brought a book but couldn't focus because of the lights & the music. I even caught myself with my fingers in my ears, trying to muffle the sounds of 2010s hyper pop. I have nothing against 2010s hyperpop, it's just that there's a time & place for everything, & maybe that isn't at a wine bar at 8 PM on a Wednesday. I just wanted to be done with my glass of wine so that I could leave. All of that being said, I wish them the best. It seems like they need a good manager's touch.

The space itself is interesting -- I understand the location has even been used as a filming location for a movie -- and the coffee and food we had were both quite good. What stood out, unfortunately, was the atmosphere created by the staff. During my visit the café was less than half full, but employees were very actively directing where people could and could not sit in what otherwise appeared to be open seating. At one point I watched a staff member speak sharply to a customer while waving a sign that said "No laptops at the bar." The confusing part was that the customer didn't appear to have a laptop at all. The interaction felt unnecessarily confrontational and awkward to witness. Taken together, the tone of the staff came across as petty and uninviting, which really undermined what could otherwise be a pleasant place to stop for coffee. The drinks and food were good, but the atmosphere made the experience feel tense. Visitors may want to keep in mind that seating and house rules seem to be enforced quite strictly.

"Walk in as strangers, leave as friends."…read more If that's not a saying that makes you want to head there now, then I don't know what is LOL! Obviously, there is more to the new renovated location of La Cantina than this saying but I will say I was pretty impressed when I saw it and knew I had to add it to my review. Let's just say it is pretty accurate. We did leave as friends since we made a few at the bar and then some. Just saying! La Cantina winery in Franklin, MA used to be a small wine bar that offered wine tasting flights and minimal food. BUT, now it is in a stunning new location (not far from their old stomping grounds). Fun Fact: It used to be a Mechanic garage. Well, wait until you see how it has turned from fixing cars to wine making and tasting. YOU HAVE GOT TO COME HERE! Parking is easy with plenty of spots. They have a lot of room at their gorgeous bar, but they also have high tops and tables for families or a large group. And, they host events here too; birthday parties, bridal showers, and anything in between, this place is it. I actually want to hold one of my milestone birthday parties here but well keep the number a secret for now. Service: Alana was our bartender and she was wonderful. Always asking us what we needed and how were doing. You don't get this upscale service any where else. And, when I wanted another sample of something she gave it to me without a fuss. Always with a smile on her face, she was the best. Wine: They have an excellent wine menu to choose from and they offer flights for about $25 pp. Flights are the best way to try multiple wines. I personally loved most of the red wines with Petit Sirah being my favorite. My husband loved their Barbera! I did sample their Sauv Blanc too which was nice but it was too cold to have a full pour. Food: Their menu is great with a ton of options from charcuterie, to tapas and some entrees. I will say some of their items can get expensive but definitely worth it. We started with a few cheeses and prosciutto. Then we ordered one of their popular pizzas called La Cantina. Everything was fresh, made in house with their beautiful pizza oven right smack in the middle of the bar. You have got to see this thing, its huge! Overall: If I could give this place 10 stars I would. We had the best time and we can't wait to go back. Franklin is not far from where we live but still a good 30 minute drive and also not far from the Wrentham outlets. We didn't have to make a reservation for a Sunday afternoon but I bet Saturdays can get pretty busy. I just loved everything about this wine bar and I know you will too! Cheers~

The staff at Sapphire (Melissa, Marc, & Shiv), as well as the guest bartender (Vannaluck), went above & beyond to make the experience interactive & memorable. We were greeted immediately with a French 75 made with cognac - Did you know that the original French 75 called for cognac, as well as many other classic cocktails? No? Neither did I. The welcome aperitif was a great lil' treat to kick the night off with. We were given a mini charcuterie selection to keep us busy until the main event, which began about 20 minutes after we arrived. Vannaluck talked us through the history & characteristics of cognac. We were given 3 small pours of different cognacs to taste as well as a serendipitous, bonus mini pour at the end. Throughout the night, the kitchen sent out a variety of tapas that UTILIZED COGNAC. Cognac glaze, reduction, brine, etc. Fascinating! We were a party of three, but it could have been a party of six with all the food we ordered. We had the first reservation at 5 PM. We parked on the street, but you can park in the lot and they will validate your parking for you. The service was a 5/5 and the ambiance can be casual or fine dining. The lighting is perfect for a romantic night out and the view of the Providence River right over your shoulder. We made our own board: Umbriaco di Raboso "Drunken Cow" - amazing cheese, very high quality, sharp, not over powering. Definitely get it! Provolone - sharp very good quality provolone cheese Proscuitto di San Daniele - sliced very thin, soft and flavorful. I was very pleased with the portion size and the flavor. A must have! Spicy Olives - assorted olives with a spicy olive oil. All of the olives were fantastic and there definitely was a good kick from the spice. They threw in the pickles, jams, nuts and honey, all were fantastic. I really liked the blueberry jam. The warm tapas came out at all different times. Fried Bolognese olives - Although these were unique and delicious, I would skip these next time. The Bolognese is just a pinch on the inside of the olive. It would be a game changer if there was a side of Bolognese sauce to dip them in instead. Eggplant - Definitely a must order. Super simple sauce packed with flavor and the buffalo mozzarella is to die for. The pork belly is also a must order. Tons of flavor and not a lot of fat, which surprised me. It was a good sized portion too. Now of the the pizza...we ordered Pizza Salumi. Very thin dough, wood fired for the flavor and the crisp. There is a good amount of sauce, which can make the crust floppy, but it's so worth it! The flavor of the sauce is so good. All fresh and top quality ingredients. The soppressata was perfect, taking this pizza to the next the level. It was cut super thin, as it should, and gave the pizza the flavor a margarita is missing. It would be tough not to order this next time. So just as we should have been walking out of the door because we were so full, we had the duck and the wood fired NY strip to split among the three of us. The duck - The duck dish came with the two legs so it was the dark meat with crispy skin. The duck was flavorful, moist, tender, and had some sort of apple based sauce to accompany it. The mashed potatoes were great and the Gorgonzola chunks were a treat, especially while sipping the sangiovese/cab red wine blend that we ordered for the table. The NY Strip was my favorite. The steak was tender and came with the flavor from that wood fired grill. The sauce was so good that I dipped every piece in it, trying to reserve some for the mashed potatoes. I ordered the steak medium rare + and it came out just how I wanted it. We ordered the lemon tart for my mom's birthday dessert. I would skip the dessert next time, but I always skip dessert. My mother loved it...very fresh and vibrant. I would have to say that Bacaro is my favorite RI restaurant, especially for a special night out. It is also a perfect spot to go and grab a snack or two with friends after work with a drink. It is affordable as you want and can find high end alternatives as well. The bottle of wine was $48 and you couldn't have asked for a better pairing with all of the food.
