I've come on 2 separate occasions, so I will speak on both. This location is in a weird spot between apartments and behind a bank and to the right of a plaza. But there's parking so that's a plus. The location gives very upscale vibes and the decor and ambiance match it. I went a little before Christmas and it was beautiful inside, the decor was top-tier, very dim lit place and very cozy and on the quieter side even with a lot of people. My first experience Kendrick was my waiter, very genuine and kind and attentive. Did an amazing job. Said all the specials word for word no menu- impressive. I got the lobster ravioli special and it was delicious! That day everything was very good even though Kendrick had tons of tables - so stuff took a little bit, but I understand. Now I also came today. I ordered stuffed mushrooms they were very good. And ordered the snowflake mimosa- so cute and very yummy, edible glitter yes please! For my meal I ordered the pasta with clams (forgot the official name), I took all my clams out the shells and put them on my pasta. Took one bite of my clam and tasted sand, gross. Now I know how clams can eat sand but personally I know you have to rinse them and wash them several times to get the sand out. So I chucked it up as a bad clam, bit into another one and same thing, spit it out and was done, that's gross. Lost my appetite and told my server Mia, she apologized and was sweet from beginning to end! The manager on duty I guess came over and apologized and asked if I wanted anything else, told her no. The sand taste isn't pleasant/ so you'll lose your whole appetite. Told them it was okay. They insisted on giving me a menu and seeing if I wanted anything else. I say fine- and grab the stuffed mushroom to go. At this point everyone ate and I wasn't going to order and sit there eating by myself. Bill came, the pasta was removed (as it should I didn't eat it), but they charged for the stuffed mushrooms that they constantly asked if I wanted anything else. I wouldn't had got it if it wasn't gonna be comped- especially after a mouth of sand. Don't see myself coming back not after that sand situation, I'm very careful with seafood. read more

Chicken and waffles and Corner Beef Hash and eggs! Very yummy! The fry on the chicken was light yet crispy. The chicken was so tender it fell apart. This was my first visit to Trattoria in Johnston. I never seen this restaurant, it's easy to miss as it nested behind a bank. We had no reservations but were seated right away this was at 1:00 pm so only a few people inside. There is also a bar with a tv. It is a little dressy so I felt out of place as I had sweats on. The waitress was attentive and sweet. The prices are a bit higher. The snowflake mimosa was my daughter's and she has had it before and enjoyed it. My appetizer was the octopus it was ok not what I had in mind. I did try the stuffed mushrooms and wished I had gotten that instead. I really wanted lasagna and was a bit disappointed it was not on the menu so I went with the meatball sandwich. I will say the meals are big in portions. My daughter ordered clams with linguine which she went back as it contained lots of sand still in them. The waitress and the hostess did come and apologized, they asked if she wanted anything and after a few no's she decided to order the stuffed mushrooms to go. When the bill came they did charge for the additional which we thought would have been complementary for her meal but I guess they didn't charge for her entree so we just accepted that. We decided to take a friend and his mom, who was visiting from out of state, out for dinner. We hit Trattoria. First off the queer o meter was a solid 10. All the staff was great. Ohhhh Trattoria!!! I'm grappling with this review. I adore the location - there's parking, some outdoor seating and a very nice decor. The tables have table clothes and nice settings; the "walk in" appearance is def upscale. My first run in was the table. Most of the 4 tops should've been a 2 top - we were taking things off the table to make room for the burrata board. We literally had to take the lamp off the table to be able to manage at all. And when 2 drinks came, along with 4 waters forget it. It was crammed. The burrata board was delish!! Nice presentation. My only con was I personally like my crostinis toasted and unseasoned - bread in its pure form. These were slightly over oiled and seasoned. Speaking of bread, the bread for the table was top notch. Soft and warm inside with a wonderful crusty outside. Perfection. The shrimp cocktail came with 3 large shrimps and cocktail sauce in a stemmed glass on ice. Nice. They were delicious. The entrees breakdown: SPAGHETTI E POLLO GENOVESE - is what I got sub shrimp and fettuccine noodles. The flavors were a high pitched "good!" You know "how's everything?" Good! Not great not terrible. I wanted a little more depth or pop from the sauce. More garlic? More pine nuts def! Splash lemon? Maybe. I couldn't pin point it. But it was good. The others got PAPPARDELLE ALLA BOLOGNESE TORTELLONI RIPIENI ALLA PRIMAVERA And POLLO FRANCESE 2 things happened here. 1. We wanted grated parmigiana. With the decor, authenticity of the menu and prices, I expected a high quality hand grated cheese. It was spooned out of a bowl and pre grated. 2. The pasta of all the dishes were gummy. I'm unsure if they were all overcooked? Or what happened here but all of us commented on the texture of the various pastas. They were all different too. Odd and off putting. As for the sauces of the other dishes they all said they were delicious but off set by the pasta, unfortunately. At the end we got decaf cappuccinos, decaf drip, lava cake and some strawberry dish special. This was the best course of the night. The cappuccinos were GREAT! Deep rich frothy. Perfect! The little spoon was plastic. Odd. The desserts were yummy. I would've liked homemade whipped cream, again for the prices and appearance I expect a notch up. The table size was a problem throughout. We couldn't get something without having to give something away. Anyhoo... here we are. Food 2.5 the extra 1/2 star to 3 was because I loved the sever. A real sweetheart. In summary for $250 (plus tip) for 4 people with only one getting a beer, I want more. It's sooooo close to tipping into being a home run. Unfortunately I can't take a $65pp risk on a maybe. You can do it Trattoria! I'll watch reviews to see if it ticks up and possibly try again, until then Ty for the hospitality and kindness. You do have a wonderful staff. CHEERS! read more

Went to this beautiful restaurant located in the heart of Johnston. We had a great round table so easy to talk n enjoy a birthday family dinner. We started with drinks which everyone loved then a burrata board which was incredible and great for a lil each party of 8. Thier house made bread was fabulous too. We all had different items for dinner and everyone raved about it . Finishing with dessert that was so good we forgot to take photos sorry ::/ We had a fantastic waitress she was so personable friendly and great service! We would say about $65 pp with a drink too! This restaurant has such a great vibe. It reminds me of what Federal Hill used to be in its hey day without the aggravation of navigating the city parking, but with all the ambiance, service and attention to detail with the menu. We enjoyed a great burrata board which was teeming with tomatoes, prosciutto artichokes and olives and of course fresh burrata. A great special! Unfortunately, We had a swing and a miss on a red snapper special but I should have stuck to the great standard menu of Italian specialties which have never disappointed. Stick to the menu-it's what they do best! Sean, our server, was attentive. Right on top of things. We went for hubs birthday, so it was a special treat. And what a treat it was ! The restaurant is very welcoming and it is a the perfect setting for a date or special night. We started off with some warm bread dipped in oil. I had a very yummy lemon drop martini. For dinner we both had the chicken parm. It was cooked well and a large portion. We both took leftovers home. The food was less than adequate and the service was not great either. I'm giving two stars for the sangria because it's just always good. We were promised bread and not served it. I had chicken Parmesan and it was soggy and not one crispy part. The pasta was mushy and overdone. For dessert we split the molten chocolates cake and it tasted straight from the store. Oh My this restaurant is great! The food is out of this world! Specials in the afternoon! ....Great specials in the afternoon. Both the hostess and the waitress would come up asking if everything was good. And never caught us with our mouths full. Like they were trained for perfect timing. The Ambiance is nothing but class. The sangria was perfect, the old fashioned had her mmmming the first sip. Seriously the pricing is not crazy. I came here very recently, ordered the SPAGHETTI ALLA VONGOLE VERACI as did another member of my party. I used to order this dish all the time because it was always so delicious and one of my favorites This time, it was ok, but there was something off with it. There were these big white lumps of something attached to the clam shells. The other person who ordered the same dish had the same thing. I went and checked out the menu to see if they had changed their recipe but nothing indicated what would cause these somewhat large lumpy white things clinging to the shell - it was not on all the clam shells so I didn't notice it right away or I would have sent the dish back. It was kind of freaky and I don't think I would ever order this dish again, or come back to this restaurant again unless someone can explain what was clinging to the shells. I wish I had taken a picture so the restaurant and other patrons wouldn't think I was crazy. The only other people who saw it were the ones sitting at our table. read more

Stopped in here for dinner tonight. We came for sandwiches, but I ended up with the Fettuccine Genovese special. It was very good, but I would have liked more pesto! I was actually surprised at the amount of chicken there was in the dish. And it was good-- not dried out. Even though I enjoyed it, I'm not sure I would order it again. My husband had a calzone with chicken, roasted peppers and cheese. When he finally got it, I was practically done with my meal. He enjoyed it, but felt like he was eating alone! We weren't sure what to think; that had never happened before! Everytime we thought it was coming, it didn't. We will surely be back though, the food is too good to pass up! read more

We also loved the bread that they served. Dessert was a very nice gelato. The only disappointment was the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp had no flavor, just tasted like water. The price was reasonable. The cream sauce was so good and the pieces of lobster in them were a good size. I wish they offered it as a meal. My coworker and I split to meals, the salmon ala vodka and the swordfish special. Ordered a couple of pizzas for take out. They were absolutely delicious. Ordered the Corina and the BBQ Chicken-1/2 with pepperoni. This is right next store to the main restaurant. Easy parking in the plaza. Super clean and friendly staff. Dessert case, prepared food case and some market items. I did have to cook one of the pizzas a little longer when I arrived home. We first came here when it was Osteria Toscana. Would've given two stars then won't get into that. Decided to come back after the name change and menu revamp. I'm kind of stuck between 3 and 4 stars (let's call this a 3.5). I got a shrimp and scallops dish over capellini in a tomato sauce with a touch of cream and cognac. It was just ok. Honestly tasted like a light red sauce. If there was any heavy cream or cognac ya fooled me. Hubby got chicken parm. Two big pieces but def not the best we've had. It is a beautiful spot but for the prices the food did not wow. We won't return there are too many other restaurants in RI with that wow factor. read more

One of these last minute - in the area - feel like Italian visit. Located in what looks like a small shopping center, we weren't expecting much, but once you walk in, you know it's going to be more. In a nutshell, very classy, seems upscale, but actually affordable for the quality of food. Restrooms are clean, as is the whole place. Only thing, is salads are optional, and IMHO, they should be part of your dinner entree. The salad is on the small side, but I believe that this is a no no in my book, to charge for this.
