It has been a while since I posted a review for Reali's. My wife & I stop on almost every week. Have had probably 60 to 70 % of the menu in the time we have been stopping here. Strongly recommend calling for reservations since it is small (awesome). The staff are top notch, every single one of them. For our taste, any of the chicken selections Jim and crew cook up cannot be beat. Also, any other choice will not leave you wanting more. Give yourself a treat and stop in for dinner soon. read more

If it wasn't for Groupon, I would not have discovered this restaurant. In summary, there are much better options for Italian food within a 5 minute drive of the restaurant. The 2 stars are for the service. Server was friendly (on a slow weekday) and attentive without being overbearing. The food missed the mark. Calamari was bland, the pasta was uninspired. Perhaps the other reviewers who had such a fantastic dining experience at Realis had a different chef... if not, and they really believe the food to be that top notch, then I would advise they check out the Olive Garden. Visited because we had a Groupon and were very pleased with everything. Our waitress was super friendly. They had a great menu with lots of different options. Food was good. WOW! Had no idea based on the outside of this location how amazing the food would be. Had a Groupon for this restaurant, very small place so I would suggest a reservation unless you go here on a Tuesday night as I did. The waitress was so very friendly and energetic, just one of those people that truly love who they work for. She told us all the specials so we decided on a cup of the chicken escarole soup and the special of the day (chicken, prosciutto, spinach, sun dried tomatoes, and zucchini over linguine). The soup was enormous, nice and hot, lots of fresh chicken, escarole, and cannelli beans. The meal was delicious! Loaded with veggies and chicken, huge portion. The bread they start you off with is extremely warm and comes with a side of olive oil (I added shredded cheese and pepper to it). We also got the dessert, chocolate lava cake served with vanilla ice cream. We were full before it came but the waitress was so enthusiastic on their food we gave in :) Great dessert to split. I was very impressed with the food quality there and yeah the decor is very dated but it is a cute place for a date night, you don't feel rushed, and the food is incredible! read more

We thought we would get a good deal here because we used groupon. However, after adding chicken to our pasta, a $15 dish turned into a $23 dish (for a small portion of grilled chicken). This was a very unreasonable price and I don't remember it being advertised on the menu. To top it all off, this place is small. You can get better bang for your buck elsewhere. read more

We went here for the first time tonight and although the food was delicious and up until the time we paid the service had been good, our last impressions has left quite a negative experience for us. We went using a groupon and for the price we paid were a bit disappointed that the meals do not come with salad. The staff was friendly however each time we thanked the gentleman who served us water, instead of a thank you we got an affirmative grunt of sorts. (kind of a turn off) The meals came quickly and were nice and warm though out our dining experience. When it was time to pay, we noticed we were charged more than the check balance showed once our groupon was deducted. We asked to see the original check and when we inquired with the server Sarah about the additional $1.00 we were told rather rudely that if the charge is less than $15.00 a $1.00 service fee is applied. Since this was our first time here we told her it would have been nice to know this and her rude response was "it's only a dollar and it's posted in the hall when you enter." Again, being first time diners here it would have been professional to let us know when the check arrived so we could have made the decision to pay by cash instead. And, to make matters worse, the sign is posted on a side wall rather than the door you walk through into the restaurant. Perhaps a note on the menu or a mention by the server at the beginning of the meal would have been a better choice but to justify by saying "it's on the wall" in a rude tone and commenting while laughing "it's only a dollar" is not only rude, but uncalled for and unprofessional. We would have expected a professional server to check with a supervisor or respond in a more pleasing manner. Users of groupons and others beware. If your total after discount or just your total in general is less than $15.00 you will be charged this $1.00 processing fee as they call it. Not to mention if you are a server then you know you are tipped on service. You're tipped better for good service and less for poor. Well, what's a customer to do..... if it really only is a dollar, then deduct it from the tip, because after all Sarah, as you said with a laugh, it's only a dollar! read more

Found this place on the GPS while the family was disintegrating from hunger. What a find. The service was great, real busy night and when i explained what was happening they fit us in without a reservation. the chicken parm was the best I've had and everyone else thought the food was good too. The only cons: a little pricey and the raviolis, while not bad were not the best I've ever had. The menu may be uninteresting but definitely have more than an appetizer :-) read more

I order takeout from here about once a week. The food is pretty good and authentic. The chicken Luigi is an amazing dish. My go to is the chicken Parmesan. My son enjoys the angel hair pasta or the penne. I never had a bad meal from here. I would give 5 stars but they need to add or update their menu! We need more choices! This is an exceptionally great Italian restaurant. I had a seafood marinara dinner and my wife had a chicken parmigiana dinner. The meals were amazing. We asked to have our food out quickly because we had two young children with us and the food was brought in a flash. The dinner was so good we got an extra dinner to go. The kids loved the food. This place is great. The service took a bit to get going but once we got a server the experience was top notch. Highly recommended. read more

Pros- Food was excellent, we had the Veal Vincente, stuffed mushrooms, and Chicken Marsala. Staff was very friendly. Groupon. Cons- 2.99 for ice with soda with no free refills. Two of the chairs were wobbly. Seating is a bit crammed, I heard the conversation from the table behind me better than the person I was with. I'd go again just for the food! Definitely a hidden gem for the area. Very unassuming on the outside but don't let that fool you. I went with my husband on a busy Friday night. We had a groupon, which you can frequently find for this restaurant. We made a reservation which I suggest you do because they always seem to be packed. When we arrived we were seated promptly. They only thing I noticed was that two large tables next to us were left dirty with food for over half our visit before being cleaned. But again it was busy so perhaps they were understaffed. We ordered an appetizer of Calamari Italia and it was amazing. The calamari was tender not rubbery and it was topped with prosciutto, sharp provolone and hot pepper rings. The portion was more than enough for us to bring some home. They also served warm crusty bread with seasoned dipping oil which was also really delicious. I ordered the chicken colavita which was heaven. The portion was huge and more than enough for one meal. My husband ordered the shrimp Alberto. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and the other ingredients were top notch. The server kept our drinks full and we had an enjoyable evening. The prices can be steep but again look to groupon to keep prices low. Overall this is a great restaurant and we won't hesitate to go back. read more

I've eaten a lot of Italian food in my life and I can honestly say Reali's is some of the best. I had the Pink Penne Alfredo and added grilled chicken (not a menu option) with no problem. The wait staff were friendly, attentive, and accommodating which made the family-run vibe of this restaurant really shine. The décor is a little out-dated, but the food is delicious and authentic so don't judge a book by it's cover! My dinner was excellent, with a huge portion and a reasonable price. My husband and I tried Realis for the first time last night. Although we were about ten minutes early for our reservation we were promptly seated. The waitress was sweet and attentive. The menu has something for everyone. I had the scallops which were a smidge undercooked otherwise quite tasty. My husband enjoyed his special. Ordered cheesecake for dessert and it was disappointing. The restaurant is small but not terribly loud so we could have a conversation. Would I hurry back? No. But it's a great option for Italian comfort food. read more

Came here for the first time tonight with my boyfriend and was HORRIFIED by the quality of food and the level of service. The appetizers took 45 minutes to come to the table while the restaurant sat empty on a Friday night. They finally arrived soggy and disappointing. The mozzarella triangles were drenched in a pile of soggy, distasteful tomato sauce. Next comes the entree, we decided to split the chicken parm with pink vodka sauce. We were shocked to discover that they served us a "pink vodka alfredo sauce" without conveying this verbally nor written in their menu. Their "pink vodka Alfredo sauce" tasted like Kraft macaroni and cheese. It was white and chunky in appearance. We were confused by this and the waitress just insisted they had their own recipe for this sauce. It was completely inedible to say the least. We asked for the bill and just wanted to leave at this point. The waitress returned without even taking the entree off the bill!!! As the General Manager of of a very successful restaurant in Providence, I was mind blown that they did not take off the entree that we did not eat one bite of! I confronted the waitress about this and asked to speak to a manager. She then informed me that she was the manager! So, what happens when the food is great, but way overpriced? I give it a decent review, but probably won't choose to go back. That's unfortunate. I ordered shrimp with pink sauce and my husband had chicken francaise. Both were tasty. Service was friendly... Once we sat down. We didn't make a reservation. We didn't know it was mandatory here. There were plenty of open tables, but we were made to stand at the bar and wait until someone decided to seat us. It was a bit ridiculous. I don't need this type of pretentiousness. With all of the amazing italian options in Rhode Island, Reali's is my favorite. I have become a regular here and have never had a meal I didn't love. The chicken parm is out of this world. My other favorites are the chicken amanda (pink sauce, chicken, hot pepper rings over pene) and the shrimp and chicken fantasia. This restaurant is amazing. Found it on groupon because I had a credit left over. They offered a special which was half off, you pay 20$ & get 40$ worth. Anyways we went in & got seated right away. The waitress was efficient & energetic. Actually the whole restaurant knew what they were doing. The food came out quickly. There were people to bring food out & take plates away. The food was good. We ordered the calamari special with the balsamic sauce on top it was amazing. They give you big portions! Also a whole loaf of bread to start (warm & fresh with olive oil on the side). Yum!!! Absolutely delicious! This quaint Italian restaurant is so warm and welcoming it's as if you're in a family home! Everything was fantastic! From the oil for dipping bread to the amazing bean bruschetta we barely had room for the main course! The chicken cannolini was perfect! Realis is a small restaurant and although outdated there is something nice about it. The menu offers just what you need when you are looking for good Italian. The wine selection isn't great, but for a glass it will do. Their sauce is pretty good, everything was cooked well and I love that it is made to order. The staff is friendly too. read more

Have been here twice. First time we sat at bar and were told we couldn't use our Groupon as it was Valentines Day and therefore a holiday and exempt. Large typical Italian menu but completely over priced for the outdated dingy Interior. Very limited parking as well. Tried to use the groupon tonight- after calling the restaurant several times to make a reservation, it rang and rang, no answering machine so we gave up and just arrived early at 4:30- which is when they supposedly open for dinner. We arrived to find a crudely written sign in crayon on door stating they were closed for vacation! You'd THINK if closing for vaca- you should have some type of answering machine informing people!!- but NO! Total lack of consideration!! No room on the table between glasses, DIRTY silverware for much else. Server was friendly, but appeared overwhelmed with tables. She forgot drink refills, sauce requests. Dinners ONLY come with grilled(?) cabbage and baked potato NO other choices or with pasta. Eggplant rotini appeared to be frozen and reheated, ALL breading. Steak was drowning in garlic and shallots and not cooked as ordered, but with such poor service, never got to tell anyone. We were never offered dessert or coffee. I'd definitely return! This is my first time here and I was very impressed. It's a family owned restaurant and the servers are very sweet. They do a lot of work so be sure to come when you're not in a hurry. The specials were great, everyone at the table ordered at least one. Tonight our table favorite was the seafood lasagna! The bottles of wine are reasonably priced at $30 and $50/60 for a higher end bottle. Dinners ranged between $15-30.
