I enjoy diners and this one is an authentic, old school, diner. Yes!. Located on a corner, there are a few parking spaces on the side-street side of the building and a parking lot at the back. Walk up several steps into the diner vestibule. We were greeted when we entered and told to sit any where. It was a chilly, twent-something degree, January afternoon during our visit and trust me when I say there is *zero* insulation in those walls. Guests were wearing hats and sweater inside. Do dress warmly if visiting in winter. The menu has lots on offer. We chose a couple of burgers which come with fries or coleslaw or pasta salad or potato salad. So options. I ordered a regular burger which allears to be a premade patty, cooked 'well done'. This is literally a burger on a bun. No mayo, mustard, salt, pepper, etc. Add lettuce & tomato or cheese for a dollar each. Ketchup was brought to the table, but if you want some other condiment, so ask. My companion ordered the southern, aka bacon cheese burge. This also has no condiments so do be sure to specify. Fries are tasty, crispy outside, fluffy inside and delivered hot. The Caeser salad was fresh cut lettuce with a nice amount of mild dressing, crunchy croutons and grated cheese. A very nice side salad portion. The waitress was friendly and capable. Classic dinner place. The dinner is small with a few booths and counter seating, but they turnover the booths quickly. We sat at the counter and were served quickly. The waitress was quick and very sweet, great disposition. My girlfriend had a ham, egg and cheese sandwich in an English muffin. I had a grilled cheese with bacon and tomatoes. The linguica was cooked very well and they didn't just put the peppers and onions on top without them being cooked. My eggs was cooked over medium with no white running and it hard to get them cooked right. Thanks to the service of Roberta everything was cooked the way I like it and she made sure my linguica was not undercooked. The ambiance is an old seaplane and an old diner mixed together. A lot of the waterfront employees go here for breakfast so it's a very casual atmosphere. I will be back it's well worth your money. read more

Happy Saturday Everyone!!!! My weekly review of somewhere to eat! For some reason I woke up earlier then I do and found myself scrolling in the Yelp app looking for a place and then I found this cool diner which I remember during my clubbing days! Seaplane Diner! I don't remember much about this place except for the cool seaplane on the roof which was still there! I flew over the bridge from Riverside and grabbed a parking spot in the back ( parking is tight but manageable). Took some pics of outside and headed in. I looked around and was going to sit at the counter and I asked the very polite wait staff if I could grab a booth (was just me) and I kind got the vibe of not really but they asked if I wanted to sit at a small table in the corner which I said sure no problem. They came back after a couple minutes and asked if I wanted coffee at which I said just ice water please, they then asked if I was ready to order, I asked them to give me a couple minutes. Looking over the menu which seemed like a standard diner menu I settled for ( shocker here) the Eggs Benedict with a side of corn beef hash. The wait staff came back and took my order. I think I waited about 6 minutes. Here comes my pipping hot food. It was literally steaming. On to the review! - Ice water, standard water with ice in it, in a red clear clean cup. Providence tap water I assume so it wasn't the best tasting. - Side of corn beef hash, super pipping hot, had a nice crispy outside texture with the standard melt in your mouth in side texture. Maybe didn't seem homemade so nothing really that special. - Eggs Benedict, What happened to the Hollandaise sauce, watery and pale in color, not much taste at all. The eggs were poached well, the ham really had no flavor and the English muffins were kind of soggy. :-( thank heaven for Franks hot sauce! I was bummed out. We came here around 8am and it was pretty empty. As it got later, our waitress Stephanie knew everyone who walked in. It definitely is a place with a lot of regulars, which was a good sign. We still till about 9am and it was full by the time we left. We came here for breakfast for the first time and the portions were huge and the price was very reasonable. I got chocolate chip pancakes and my partner got the western omelet with homefries and rye toast. Stephanie was nice and friendly and we had great service. Returned after a year for breakfast as we were in the area. A quintessential dinner still picturesque and unchanged. The inside remains original. Back in time and design. A pleasant place. Although a weekday it was full of young and older people. We ordered hearty meals -various eggs, fries and a side order of pancakes. And coffees. The helpings were large and we took some of the food home. Our server, Stephanie, was cheerfully attentive. The bill was very reasonable, under $20 per person. After living in Providence for the past 9.5 years, I finally visited Seaplane Diner last weekend. Slightly kicking myself that I slept on this diner for so long! I finally came because someone on Reddit insisted this was the best diner in the state. I totally agree with this person. You walk in and wait to be seated (unless you grab a table at the counter, those are up for grabs). There are about a dozen to 15 booths aligned next to the window and decorations galore. One of my favorite features is the family photos displayed in the front. This shows me the diner cared for the families of staff that work for them (a great sign!). I had the Seaplane Breakfast, a short stack of pancakes, and linguica. All cooked very well, if not a little salty (but that's why the ice water is so refreshing!). Coffee is refilled often and food comes out swiftly. Can't wait to visit again! read more

While you are going on I-95 there is an easy ramp off too get to the Seaplane Diner in Providece RI. The service was professional yet casual. The food prices were in range of other diners. The menu choices were plentiful. The are open for breakfast/ lunch at 5am to 3pm. I had the linguica and cheese omelet with white toast and home fries. I am full. First of all if you've never eaten here before don't be scared off by the way the neighborhood looks, it's very industrial & does not appear safe but it is. As we entered we were quite impressed with that "vintage" Diner look, a throwback to the old days. We also loved the Jukeboxes sitting at every booth, although I believe they are for display purposes only. As for the food we ordered 2 Omelets ( Ham & Cheese as well as the Pepperoni & Cheese ) I love Pepperoni but It absolutely doesn't belong in an Omelet so I shouldn't have ordered that but everything else was great. Our server, Stephanie, was very attentive & did a terrific job of taking care of us. One final note is the prices were quite inexpensive ( 2 entrees, 2 beverages for $ 28.26 ) such low prices are almost impossible to find nowadays. The wait staff is so very friendly, classic older waitresses who make you feel right at home. The diner coffee flows like water and there is a general contented clank of forks on plates. It's not far off 95, but the area seems a little rough. Parking was tight. If there is a wait when you get there you give them your name/number and they ask you to wait out in your car for them to call you. Luckily, we got a table right away. It was a cool and rainy day when we were there and they had the AC on full blast. I was freezing! And my coffee got cold so quick. Service was okay, took a while for someone to come by and take our order but once they did take it the food came out quick. I got two eggs over medium with bacon, home fries and toast. Went there for lunch today to have the fish it was the worst fish and chips we ever had I had the chowder I think it was from a can tasted like snows clam chowder and I had a seafood plater the fried fish had more batter on it then fish the bake fish had a topping on it and it was not good the cold slaw was warm not cold the breakfast is good here but it's a no go on the fish I won't be going back to many good restaurants out there the two diners and chowder and a coke cost 54 dollars find another place read more

Seaplane is top shelf in ever aspect. Food is always consistent and very good. Big portions and very reasonable prices. Service is always a A+. If you want to sit and relax they are good with that. If you want to eat quick and get to work they'll get you in and out quicker then anywhere else.
