Had breakfast here with my granddaughter recentjy. My omelette with spinach, myshroom and cheddar was delicious and huge, so i took half home. Rye toast was amazing as well. Tried a bite if my granddaughters chocolate chip pancakes: amazing. Staff was very friendly as well. Went here after doing a quick breakfast search and I'm sure glad we did. We sat at the breakfast counter and after a few minutes we had hot coffees. Looked over the menu and decide to try the omelette!! Hearing other customers order they allow many substitutions and are flexible with orders. I opted for the classic eggs benny with home fries- which is my go-to order for breakfast, since I'm not talented enough/ have the patience to make my own at home! Portions are large enough to get two breakfasts out of them. I would recommend both of these dishes! Service here is always friendly and attentive. We went around 8:30am on a Saturday, and there was a decent amount of people/ not too crowded. I've been here before around 10am on a Saturday, and they also handle large crowds well! The inside could use some updating, but it serves the purpose of being a nice breakfast place. The parking lot situation for this plaza is an absolute mess among many other choice words- but they have no control over that. This was our first time here, and we will be back. Our server, Sherry, was very nice, checked on us several times, and even had some small talk with us. Coffee was very good, which is a big deal! I had basic scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries and toast. The eggs felt heavy, not light and fluffy like I prefer, but we're tasty. The sausage had a different taste and texture, I'm on the fence about it. My toast was extremely dark on one side, light on the other. The home fries were ok. Mine were burnt on one side, and some were more seasoned than the other. Note- there are onions in the home fries, but not tons that makes the potatoes overwhelmed by them. My husband had a huge breakfast that included bacon, sausage and ham, as well as french toast (or pancakes) along with the eggs (scrambled), home fries and toast. He couldn't finish!! He thought the same about the heavy eggs, although his home fries and toast were done nicely. They had a big enough menu that I have no problem trying Athena's again. It was very busy this Saturday morning, and no sooner did a table or counter space open up, it was filled. It's a worth-the- try breakfast and lunch establishment. read more

Damn, the value at Athena's is crazy! I got 3 pancakes ($6.25) with Nutella spread (+ $1.50) as well as a egg and cheese breakfast sandwich ($2.75) on a bagel (+ $.50). Everything was so tasty! What I loved is that each of the 3 pancakes had a generous amount of Nutella spread, not just the top one. The pancakes were light, fluffy and delicious. I ate everything, but barely. The value of their food is great. I can eat a lot in one sitting (clearly), so I'm always looking for spots where I can get tons of food for a great price and quality. Better than T's Restaurant in Cranston. I have always enjoyed the fact that they are humble than T's. The manager and owner who cooks and always goes around tables greeting the customers. I brought my parents here. My dad is picky so it was wonderful to get the thumbs up from them! Today, I decided to get the Breakfast number 4. Eggs and Ham off the Bone. Fruit bowl substitute and whole grain toast. What I like: Wow! The is huge. It's literally looks like the Ribeye steak! What I love about this place is that they don't stick you with the sides you don't want to eat. I got fruit bowl substitute. My biggest likes is reliable service. Mike and I came for breakfast after being recommended by a friend. We were not at all disappointed because it was so good. The service was excellent and the ambience was cute. The restaurant was immaculate. The food was really tremendous although the portions are large and I could've done with less. The pancakes were amazing and I don't say that a lot. I could see behind the counter a tray full of homemade muffins that looks so good. Mike and I got eggs and pancakes and a fruit cup and everything was delicious and we couldn't finish half of it. I called to make a request for something not on the menu, they accommodated me. The food was ready for pick up in the amount of time they had stated on the phone, packed perfectly. I ordered two garden salads with grilled Buffalo chicken and blue cheese dressing. Everything was separate to not wilt the lettuce. When I went in, the owner personally apologized for not having cucumbers or black olives and offered me a side of something else in return. At Athena's you can also get gooey Bananas Foster, Monkey Bread or warm Cinnamon Roll French Toast. The Number 7 Breakfast was so large it came in 3 take-out boxes. Eggs, homefries, toast, bacon, sausage, and ham...with French Toast or pancakes. A breakfast feast for 10 bucks! The bacon & cheese omelet had a wonderfully crazy amount of bacon! If you're not in the mood for homefries, you can simply substitute them for crispy hashbrowns, baked beans, spiced apples or peaches. Along with traditional white or wheat toast, they also offer warm buttery toasted raisin, pumpernickel or Italian bread as well as perfectly grilled English muffins as standard sides. Although the eggs & homefries were a bit bland and the presentation of some of the orders could have been a bit more appetizing, you can't beat Athena's for huge perfectly cooked breakfasts at great prices. There was also a decently-full Specials board that looked like it incorporated more seasonal ingredients than the regular menu - I'll likely try one of those next time. Prices are very fair (a quality, filling breakfast was ~$17 for two), as meal portions are very hearty, and they don't skimp on ingredients. Service was relatively fast, and coffee refills were frequent, which I always appreciate. Our server was extremely friendly and accommodating of young kids. The atmosphere is sort of straightforward "convenience breakfast" more than anything, and so not really remarkable. Our wait for a table of four was about 4-5 minutes at 11:30 on a Sunday morning, as people were cycling in and out pretty steadily. I loved everything about my recent visit to Athena's! Awesome, small town cafe vibe with a local crowd, great service, perfectly prepared food and a counter/bar that completes that cafe feel! The power had been out in surrounding neighborhoods during my trip so the cafe was crowded but may be like that regularly. We waited about 5 minutes for a table. Our server was friendly and fast! I ordered a bagel and chicken noodle soup. The bagel was huge and fresh! My friends and I had a late night the previous night so the soup was the perfect hangover cure! My go to place for breakfast. They serve you epic portions. My eggs are always cooked exactly as I request them. Wait staff is friendly, even when they're busy you always get a seat within 10 or 15 minutes, and a big smile. I have been here many times. I recommend this place for a great breakfast. They also have delicious homemade muffins. I have tried many things there, pancakes, eggs cooked many different ways, home fries, hash, Bacon and sausage. If I had to complain about anything, it would be that they only have one bathroom. Although the bathroom is always clean, I find the floor to be a little sticky. This is around the corner from our IUPAT hall and it was open at 6:00a.m. When not much else was. I went for a grilled muffin from the pictures, but decided on the 'Just Enough' breakfast. One delicious, plate sized pancake, one egg (which was more like 3) and 2 strips of bacon. FOR LIKE 6 BUCKS!!! I also got O.J. And a coffee, my only complaint would be that one bacon was slightly less crispy, but my kid would say the opposite, so personal preference there. This place is Amazing!
