Mesa is so near and dear to my heart. Been coming here with my wife since she was just my friend, and with my parents as a kid before that. Regular breakfast staples are all accounted for and delicious including an excellent Monte cristo. All the Mexican breakfast stuff is so good, I love their homemade salsa verde and always ask for extra. A Cranston staple and I hope it never goes away. read more

Placed a large take out order with Mesa for a work lunch and everything was great! The online ordering system was pretty easy to maneuver, and there was a place to enter in special requests prior to checking out. I went to pick up in person and the restuarant was very busy. I sat in the attractive dining room to wait for the order, and it was ready right on time. Some of the standouts were the tacos al pastor, the turkey club, and the chicken parm sandwich. I ordered the buffalo chicken tenders & fries and they were pretty good, but not outstanding. Next time I will try one of the breakfast entrees - they all looked amazing when I was at the restaurant for pick up. read more

Mesa Cafe and Grill - Seating area - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Cranston, Rhode Island

This is my go to breakfast spot in the Rolfe Square area of Cranston. The staff is super sweet and friendly, you always feel welcomed there. There's a good mix of typical diner food like pancakes, burgers etc. But their real specialty is the Mexican style entrees and breakfasts. My partner always goes for a Mexican breakfast entree which comes with fresh hot homemade tortillas. You gotta try them! The chef makes his own salsa as well so ask for a side of salsa verde. My go to is usually an omelet filled with fresh vegetables. Their home fries are some of the best I've had. They are perfectly soft inside and crispy on the outside. No frozen potatoes here - the waitress said they make them from potatoes from a local farm. It gets pretty busy on the weekends and there is usually a wait so be prepared. They are also open for breakfast and lunch on weekdays and you can get a seat quickly. Highly recommended! read more

I was looking for breakfast place but turns out everywhere was busy and there was line so decided to try this place. The restaurant is kind of hard to tell because the sign is small and building next door is empty. I ordered omelet with cheese, onions, kielbasa and side of toast and home fries. The food was good and was what I was looking for. It was also pretty reasonable price. My partner did not like too much because it was greasy. I did notice that some of the food did definitely have a lot of butter used to cook them. Server was nice and very attentive (almost too attentive sometimes) Overall the experience was good and would come back for breakfast. Only downside side was that there was a group of older people sitting next to us that were very loud and obnoxious but it is what it is I guess. read more

So glad to see this place thriving. So busy in fact that there was a bit of a wait for food, but please don't let that deter you. The Mexican specials are (in my opinion) the way to go, but the great thing is they've got something for everyone. Service was exceedingly friendly and while I waited they were very attentive to ask for coffee and water refills. The meal was lovely. Chicken tamale with two eggs and fried plantains; all delicious. The setting is casual but clean. Nothing fancy for sure but delicious home cooked food right in the heart of Rolfe square. Hadn't been in years and very happy I made the trip back. As a Cranston resident this could quickly become a new favorite! read more

Great food, friendly staff. Everything is on point here. Highly recommend Mesa for breakfast or lunch if you're in the area.

Everything from entry to service to food, just a 3/5 for me. The entry not really inviting almost looks like it's closed. What I ordered was ok, chilaquiles a classic simple dish over powered with the green salsa, tortillas drenched with no slight crunch to them. Just tasted like green salsa slop. I have had excellent chilaquiles and I've had terrible this was not the worst just not worth the mess or pricing. read more

Good breakfast spot. There is a good variety on the menu and pricing is decent. I had the greek goddess omelet, made with egg whites with no bacon. It was very good. The service is good. Parking is on the street. read more

So today, based on a recent visit I had to Mesa, I decided to visit this establishment again. I ordered a breakfast quesadilla which had an option of an add on of sausage, chorizo, or ham, for $1,25. So I said I'd like the sausage . The server asked if I wanted it in the quesadilla or not. I said outside. She said it came w home fries. I asked were there other choices. She mentioned fries. I asked if there was fruit."There''s an up charge of $1.50," she stated. So I settled for the home fries. The quesadilla was ok. The home fries were tasty. The sausage was two patties and tasty also. I happily ate my meal, with the servers checking in periodically to ensure all was good. When I got the bill, it was nearly $20!!( I did have coffee also). Upon examining my bill, I saw where I was charged $5.55 So two waitresses came over and explained because I hadn't had the sausage INSIDE the quesadilla, it was considered a side which was $5.55. I said that made no sense and that that should have been explained by the waitress. One of them nonchalantly," Well next time..."Needless to say, there will not be a next time. Very disappointing. Very! read more

Decent breakfast food but nothing amazing. I've had better home fries, breakfast burritos, and French toast. My friends got eggs Benedict dishes and they said it was pretty good so I might have just nit ordered the right things. Service was alright. They checked on us quite a bit and was attentive on refilling waters and such. read more

This has been a regular stop for breakfast over the years. The restaurant is clean and comfortable and the service is always good. Food is consistently good. Cute and spacious brunch restaurant with lots of options in the neighborhood! Came on a Saturday morning with a party of 10. They take reservations so I recommend doing that if you're coming with a big group on a weekend day. When we left, there was a crowd waiting outside to be seated. The waitress was friendly and patient with us. All the food came out relatively quick and correct. I got the sopranos eggs benedict while my sister got an omelette. The food was great but honestly, nothing special. We also got a stack of pancakes to share. They were thick, fluffy, but also light! The portions are huuuuge! I would've definitely shared with my sister if we knew how big the portions were. The prices are also pretty cheap for what I am used to. I highly recommend this place! read more

Great food! Was looking for something a little different for breakfast while visiting JWU. Huevos Racheros with plantains was delicious. My partner loved the Portuguese Toast too. Large menu for breakfast, somewhat smaller for lunch. But they also have a specials menu with Mexican choices. I ordered the chicken parmesan sandwich with chips. You have a choice of sides. Sandwich was loaded with chicken, tomato sauce and cheese and was good but nothing exceptional. Chips were also good but slightly greedy. Although a good but not a standout meal. Service was excellent and prices were a bit lower than expected in the area. read more

I'm glad I got to try this place. The food here was really good, the service was not so bad. they don't have their own lot but I didn't really have a hard time finding parking. It is a very casual restaurant, diner like for the most part. The food came out timely, the drinks not so much. The waitor kept forgetting that he took our drink order. As for the food, it was delicious . I got the tamales con huevos and the banana bread French toast. The flavors were all there the only issues I had was the tamale seemed to be very dry and bland but the sauce made up for the flavor and all together it flowed very well. Also the banana bread was really dense which made it difficult to finish one. But all in all the food was delicious and the menu looked awesome read more

I found this restaurant through Yelp, and I have to say that Mesa Cafe and Grill is a fantastic place for breakfast and/or brunch! Parking is only street parking, which is pretty easy. Just make sure to read the signs. The restaurant is a clean, family restaurant - chill atmosphere but homey. Fairly spacious inside with plenty of seating. We were seated quickly with our waitress arriving shortly to get our drink orders. FOOD: Great menu - lots of choices to choose from aside from the specials. Belgian Waffle with Blueberries (4/5): Slightly crispy, this was made just how I like my waffles! It isn't like the IHOP kind of waffles, which seem fluffy in my opinion. Blueberries were fresh. Lightly sprinkled syrup over the top, this dish was basic but good. I'm a fan. SOS (Shit on a Shingle, 3/5): I had no idea this was a military staple, for I never heard of the term shit on a shingle. Basically, it's chipped beef compressed together in a sauce, served over toast. I thought it was kind of bland so asked for some of the red sauce that was with the Huevos Rancheros, which somewhat tasted better than before. Our waitress informed us that many war veterans are thrilled to try this at Mesa. Huevos Rancheros (5/5): This was so yummy! I only had two bites with tortilla, and I regretted not ordering this for my own. The red sauce served over the eggs had a slight kick, which was surprising because most spices are adjusted to the American version of spicy. The fried plantain actually was decent, and I'm not a fan of plantain! Solid food. Solid servers, hostesses, and service. Drinks were refilled quickly. Professional and accommodating, I highly recommend this spot. Mesa Cafe and Grill has specials that alternate throughout the season. I didn't get to try any, but I'm sure I would be just as a fan! If I was residing in the area, this place would definitely be one of my go-to's for breakfast and/or brunch. read more

Absolutely delicious omelets. Chipotle chicken special omelet was spicy enough but not overwhelming and dressed with sour cream. Choice of breads and wonderful homefries. Optional fruit cup for a little more money but worth it. My steak omelet was full of shaved steak and onions and cheese. So so yummy and filling. Excellent service, very kind and attentive. My server actually brought the special board from the door to my table because I forgot what they were. So glad he did. Will definitely be back to try lunch because the menu looks terrific. read more

AVOID this restaurant like the plague particularly if you have small, shy, children who happen to have significant allergies. They will go 4 on 1 against said child offering candy, free hugs and other bs to try to triangulate you from your child. (think free puppies and dark van vibes, yikes) When that is unsuccessful and you call them out on their, let's be real, predatory behavior, they will try to feign concern and report you. The food was always semi- mediocre at best. The people were always nice up until then and that kind of made up for their mediocrity. Will never enter this establishment again. There are many other restaurants within a mile radius that know how to treat people properly with much better food. This isn't one of them. read more

Early morning pick me up on a rainy day! Nice quaint little cafe in Cranston with friendly staff and delicious food. We ordered the crepes, monte Christo, orange juice, coffee, and 4 eggs over easy. Everything came out quickly, it was hot, and delicious. We parked on the street Which was a 2 second walk into the cafe. We came in seated ourselves at a nice booth and were immediately greeted by the waitress asking what would we like to drink. The portion size I'd say is perfect not too much just enough to fill you up and a little to take to go. The prices are extremely reasonable as well. It was clean and the atmosphere was nice. I can't wait to stop in again for breakfast. read more

All the servers are very nice and attentive. They always have someone walking around to fill coffee or to ask if you need anything. The food was excellent and filling. Food is absolutely delicious, and the servers are kind and attentive. Great spot for breakfast!

Had brunch today at the Mesa café and grill. Is located on Rolf Street in Cranston. Parking is on the street only, and can be difficult when it's a popular time to go to the restaurant. I had brunch at 10 o'clock and it took a bit to find a parking spot. However I was quite surprised when I went in that I was seated within a couple of minutes. I had two eggs over easy, with hashbrowns, and home fries and ride toast. I was surprised that my eggs were actually over easy. Home fries for not the best that I've had but they were adequate for the breakfast. I did notice that every waitress and waiter was extremely friendly and accommodating. There was a gentleman but I'm going to assume was the owner that went around making sure that everyone had enough coffee or juice their breakfast was good, and did they need anything else. Are use the restroom which was clean. They have both a men's room and a ladies room. There are three rooms to the restaurant today, on Saturday at approximately 10 o'clock they had Two of the rooms open. I did overhear someone say that the Saturday prior all three rooms have an open and full for a full four hours during breakfast. Breakfast is served all day long. They have a great selection. read more

Great little spot in Rolfe square area of Cranston. They are usually only open until 2pm but spacious enough that the wait is usually very short to none. The Carne asada with eggs is delicious! Mesa Cafe and Grill serves up so-so American food, but OUTSTANDING, reasonably-priced Mexican food! If you have a hankering for Mexican-anything, this is your cute brekkie/lunch spot! Order now, cause the joint closes at 2 pm, boo! My boyfriend and I needed a pick-me-up after a rough morning (5 am wake-up call to credit card fraud on his account!) and decided to give brekkie at Mesa a whirl. We ordered Mexican dishes based on Yelp recs: Crispy Chicken Tacos and the Breakfast Burrito with Chorizo. Crispy Chicken Tacos....YUM YUM YUM! My new fave Mexican entree here in PVD! For $6.50, you get 5 chicken taquito-looking tacos that are covered in lettuce, pico de gallo, and some sort of queso fresco sauce. This thing fills up an entire plate! The breakfast burrito and hash browns were solid, but it became quite the expensive dish once we added chorizo (8 bucks). If I were a new customer, I'd come for a brunch or lunch and order the Tostadas, Tacos, or Enchiladas. I bet those are delish! read more
