The online ordering system was pretty easy to maneuver, and there was a place to enter in special requests prior to checking out. I went to pick up in person and the restuarant was very busy. I sat in the attractive dining room to wait for the order, and it was ready right on time. Some of the standouts were the tacos al pastor, the turkey club, and the chicken parm sandwich. I ordered the buffalo chicken tenders & fries and they were pretty good, but not outstanding. This is my go to breakfast spot in the Rolfe Square area of Cranston. The staff is super sweet and friendly, you always feel welcomed there. There's a good mix of typical diner food like pancakes, burgers etc. But their real specialty is the Mexican style entrees and breakfasts. My partner always goes for a Mexican breakfast entree which comes with fresh hot homemade tortillas. You gotta try them! The chef makes his own salsa as well so ask for a side of salsa verde. My go to is usually an omelet filled with fresh vegetables. Their home fries are some of the best I've had. They are perfectly soft inside and crispy on the outside. No frozen potatoes here - the waitress said they make them from potatoes from a local farm. It gets pretty busy on the weekends and there is usually a wait so be prepared. The restaurant is kind of hard to tell because the sign is small and building next door is empty. I ordered omelet with cheese, onions, kielbasa and side of toast and home fries. The food was good and was what I was looking for. It was also pretty reasonable price. My partner did not like too much because it was greasy. I did notice that some of the food did definitely have a lot of butter used to cook them. Server was nice and very attentive (almost too attentive sometimes) Overall the experience was good and would come back for breakfast. So today, based on a recent visit I had to Mesa, I decided to visit this establishment again. I ordered a breakfast quesadilla which had an option of an add on of sausage, chorizo, or ham, for $1,25. So I said I'd like the sausage . The server asked if I wanted it in the quesadilla or not. I said outside. She said it came w home fries. I asked were there other choices. She mentioned fries. I asked if there was fruit."There''s an up charge of $1.50," she stated. So I settled for the home fries.The quesadilla was ok. The home fries were tasty. The sausage was two patties and tasty also. I happily ate my meal, with the servers checking in periodically to ensure all was good. When I got the bill, it was nearly $20!!( I did have coffee also). Upon examining my bill, I saw where I was charged $5.55 So two waitresses came over and explained because I hadn't had the sausage INSIDE the quesadilla, it was considered a side which was $5.55. I said that made no sense and that that should have been explained by the waitress. One of them nonchalantly," Well next time..."Needless to say, there will not be a next time. Very disappointing. They take reservations so I recommend doing that if you're coming with a big group on a weekend day. When we left, there was a crowd waiting outside to be seated. The waitress was friendly and patient with us. All the food came out relatively quick and correct. I got the sopranos eggs benedict while my sister got an omelette. I'm glad I got to try this place. The food here was really good, the service was not so bad. they don't have their own lot but I didn't really have a hard time finding parking. It is a very casual restaurant, diner like for the most part. The food came out timely, the drinks not so much. The waitor kept forgetting that he took our drink order. As for the food, it was delicious . I got the tamales con huevos and the banana bread French toast. The flavors were all there the only issues I had was the tamale seemed to be very dry and bland but the sauce made up for the flavor and all together it flowed very well. Absolutely delicious omelets. Chipotle chicken special omelet was spicy enough but not overwhelming and dressed with sour cream. Choice of breads and wonderful homefries. Optional fruit cup for a little more money but worth it. My steak omelet was full of shaved steak and onions and cheese. So so yummy and filling. Excellent service, very kind and attentive. My server actually brought the special board from the door to my table because I forgot what they were. So glad he did. We were seated quickly with our waitress arriving shortly to get our drink orders. FOOD: Great menu - lots of choices to choose from aside from the specials. Belgian Waffle with Blueberries (4/5): Slightly crispy, this was made just how I like my waffles! It isn't like the IHOP kind of waffles, which seem fluffy in my opinion. Blueberries were fresh. Lightly sprinkled syrup over the top, this dish was basic but good. I'm a fan. SOS (Shit on a Shingle, 3/5): I had no idea this was a military staple, for I never heard of the term shit on a shingle. Basically, it's chipped beef compressed together in a sauce, served over toast. I thought it was kind of bland so asked for some of the red sauce that was with the Huevos Rancheros, which somewhat tasted better than before. Our waitress informed us that many war veterans are thrilled to try this at Mesa. Huevos Rancheros (5/5): This was so yummy! I only had two bites with tortilla, and I regretted not ordering this for my own. The red sauce served over the eggs had a slight kick, which was surprising because most spices are adjusted to the American version of spicy. The fried plantain actually was decent, and I'm not a fan of plantain! Solid food. Solid servers, hostesses, and service. Drinks were refilled quickly. Professional and accommodating, I highly recommend this spot. Mesa Cafe and Grill has specials that alternate throughout the season. I didn't get to try any, but I'm sure I would be just as a fan! Had brunch today at the Mesa café and grill. Is located on Rolf Street in Cranston. Parking is on the street only, and can be difficult when it's a popular time to go to the restaurant. I had brunch at 10 o'clock and it took a bit to find a parking spot. However I was quite surprised when I went in that I was seated within a couple of minutes. I had two eggs over easy, with hashbrowns, and home fries and ride toast. I was surprised that my eggs were actually over easy. Home fries for not the best that I've had but they were adequate for the breakfast. I did notice that every waitress and waiter was extremely friendly and accommodating. There was a gentleman but I'm going to assume was the owner that went around making sure that everyone had enough coffee or juice their breakfast was good, and did they need anything else. Are use the restroom which was clean. They have both a men's room and a ladies room. There are three rooms to the restaurant today, on Saturday at approximately 10 o'clock they had Two of the rooms open. I did overhear someone say that the Saturday prior all three rooms have an open and full for a full four hours during breakfast. Breakfast is served all day long.
