Posillipo was a delight. It's sort of off the beaten path but worth it. The outside is unassuming. Once i entered I was greeted as if we was family. I the food is delightful. I have been here twice and ordered different meals each time. They all were delicious. Depending on what I ordered it was offered with side dishes. You won't leave hungry here. The chef is quite skilled. The staff could not have been better. They are helpful and attentive. The chef even came to our table. Put Posillipo on you places to visit.

There is potential; however, the chicken soup and lemon chicken entree we tried were too salty with no added depth of flavor. It was nice that all entrees come with bread and salad which was not bad. The Italian dressing is a bright orange color that tasted better than it looked. The bread paired well with high quality olive oil and herbs. Would've been 10/10 bread if it were toasted or kept warm. We also tried the clam pasta in wine sauce which was solid but unfortunately nothing impressive. The ambiance is nothing fancy, but clean and inviting. Service was friendly but a tad slow given there were only a few tables when we were initially seated.

I'm usually VERY picky when it comes to Italian food, but the dishes at a Posilippo were 100% authentic and checked all the boxes! The spaghetti with seafood were delicious, and so were the bruschette! The absolute best was the sauce for the Scaloppine, which added to the entire quality of the dish! The owner, Luigi, is also incredibly friendly and made the dining experience so much better by making us feel right at home! Will definitely come back to this restaurant and recommend it to everyone I know!

Delicious! We had Angelina as our waitress and she was very friendly and knowledgeable. Their bread is from buono bakery in providence. We got calamari, lobster ravioli and chicken parmigiana. Both entrees came with a side salad. Can't wait to go back.

Another great dinner at Posillipos! My husband ordered the bruschetta appetizer, which has provolone cheese on it, which I don't like so I didn't try it. But he and my mom loved it! I had gnocchi, so light but filling, with a sauce that reminded me of my aunt's sauce straight from the old country! My mom had Pollo Limone, which I reviewed previously. She loved it too! My husband had the chicken Parm, and he said it was very good. Chef Luciano greeted us when we came in, but it was very busy for a Thursday night. We did have reservations, and when traffic kept us from getting there on time, a phone call saved us and we were able to enjoy our delicious meal. Bella kept everyone happy with her service, and she was running between both dining areas. Truly made to order, and delicious, well worth the price and wait. We can't wait to go back!

Great little neighborhood Italian restaurant with the food cooked by the old school Italian immigrant owner. Several different menu options, very generous portions and everything is freshly prepared, not frozen. This is the authentic deal. This isn't some overpriced fancy place, the decor is more simple and down home. But make no mistake, this is no dive. It's still classy without being pretentious. The prices are insanely low and the service is outstanding. I've only been here a few times so far but unfortunate enough to live about five minutes down the road so I plan on many more trips here to enjoy sampling the rest of the menu. There is a small parking lot in the front and there's also on street parking. They have a full bar and two separate dining rooms. I highly recommend checking this place out and I know you won't be disappointed!

This was a Pork "special" very tasty

"Don't judge a book by its cover" This small family Italian Restaurant May not have the fanciest decor but what it lacks in fashion it makes up in substance. I went for a family dinner birthday celebration and we had a wide array of food including the Calamari, Antipasto, Chicken Parmigiana and a Pork Special. Everyone enjoyed their meals and no one left hungry. I would give it 4.5 stars, well worth a try if you find yourself in Northern Rhode Island.

An amazing display of spices and entertainment for the tastebuds.

I finally got the chance to visit. I begin with a call to make sure they are open. The lady on the phone spoke with a thick Italian accent - I knew I was going to love it. She was polite but unpolished - I then knew it was going to be cool experience. It was like walking into someone's kitchen - very homey feeling. Making a reservation is needed - call ahead. The waitresses spoke to us like they know us forever. Them sharing the specials was a conversation piece - it was like being in a room with family. Their limited hours makes visiting intriguing. Their decor is pretty simple and plain - unassuming especially from the outside. Their Caprese came well seasoned. Usually you have to add salt and pepper - but the flavor burst was well setup. I ordered their special - half lobster and seafood over angel hair. The best I've ever had. It was a super large portion and filled with flavor.

The host seemed surprised to see us despite being right on time for our reservation but we were seated right away after a quick exchange. Our server Erik came right over with a smile and continued to be a consummate professional throughout the evening. I wish I could have him be my server everywhere I go. We started the night with some seasonal cocktails. The spiced pear old fashioned was to die for. Complete with a solitary large cube and balanced flavors it was delicious. Our table had veal parm, linguine and white clam, and lasagna. Each dish was fresh and executed perfectly. It's a garlic lovers paradise but never overpowering, in a way any Nonna would approve. For dessert we split a slice of limoncello cake. The cake was so light and fluffy it was like eating air. Even the frosting was light enough where it didn't feel like we were stuffing ourselves to finish it. It's a smaller place so it gets busy quickly and can be a little loud. I would highly recommended a reservation as I don't think you'd have much luck getting a table on a weekend. There was a bar area with some seats but it's probably not easy to get a seat there either. As the old adage goes, if a restaurant is full all the time there's a good reason why ;)

Getting the server's attention required -really- waving down them down with two hands high in the air a few times, as eye contact and a little wave was not sufficient. They also seemed to be tending to the bar, but there was another bartender there too, and it wasn't very busy...and we were sat literally across from the bar and felt ignored. They dropped the bread basket 30 mins in and it took 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Once food was at the table the service picked up. One thing to note is they serve their dinner menu at lunch time on the weekends, which was not apparent from their website, so entrees averaged $35 for most of our group. There was also a 4% surcharge for using a Visa credit card and not paying cash (further research says using a debit card you can avoid this charge, we were not from RI). While we enjoyed the food, we'd likely look elsewhere next time for better service and more transparency on prices and charges upfront given there's many restaurant options in the area.

We sat down, looked at our menus, and about 10-15 mins later we got our waters. When we ordered our food, I asked if they had capellini for my Chicken Francese. Our waitress responded, "No, we don't, but the closest thing we have to it is linguini...but we also have angel hair, penne, and spaghetti." I was a bit confused; capellini is much closer to angel hair than linguini! Same with spaghetti! Brushed it off and my BF ordered a chicken piccata. Couldn't help but notice that the 4 people behind us (who were there before us) didn't order their drinks or food until about 10-15 mins after us, but they got their food 35 mins BEFORE us (we actually started keeping track, we were there for 45-50 mins at this point). We got our food and my boyfriend was very confused because they delivered a chicken Marsala instead of his chicken Piccata; I didn't even notice. He only orders chicken piccata from one other place, so it took him a minute to realize what he had been served... he tried it, thinking that we could just wrap up our experience since we were already running late, took 2 bites and said it wasn't something he liked so he put it at the end of the table. Unfortunately, I had already finished my meal by the time the waitress came over to check on us. No apology for messing up his order, but a, "oh, would you enjoy this?" My boyfriend was stunned. The piccata came out 15-20 mins after this interaction. I enjoyed my chicken Francese and he enjoyed his picatta. Luckily, our shrimp cocktail and peroni were comp'd but I'm not sure why they couldn't just take the meal off at that point -- it was like $4 extra for something that we didn't order in the first place. We were about 30 mins late to the game that we planned well ahead for. Maybe it was a bad night, but this was not a good first impression. TLDR: Service was horrible, food was good.

Our favorite drink for a night out is a dirty martini extra dirty. The martinis here are NEVER cold enough. They are legit luke warm. So we have learned to ask for them extra shaken here. Not only were our martinis still not cold, but they were clear aka not dirty. We sent them back based on the color and our server brought the same martinis back with a side of olive juice. After trying them with the extra juice they had a dirty water taste to them, almost like the ice used to shake them was dirty, which is ironic considering they were barely cold. I hate to do this but we sent them back again and let the server know they simply didn't taste good and also were not cold enough. He ended up going back and making them himself and they were much better but STILL. It shouldn't be this difficult for a bartender to make a very standard drink. The food unfortunately was also very mid. The table behind us actually sent their food back twice as well and the manager had to come over. It's also worth noting I put in the reservation it was my husband's birthday and there was no acknowledgement of it at all. This restaurant is meant to be a splurge for a nice dinner out and honestly was not up to par at all. $300 dinner for two and I was extremely disappointed. Honestly don't think we will be back.

You could definitely tell it was plant-based as well (which is fine, just not my preference!). We got their Cacio e Pepe and the Rigatoni Alla Vodka. I was a big fan of the Garlic Bread Twist! I could honestly eat this by itself. The Garlic Bread wasn't overwhelming the Rigatoni it was paired with but very flavorful. The Rigatoni was okay to me, it wasn't the usual Rigatoni pasta shape and I thought it could've had stronger flavors/seasoning. I really enjoyed their Cacio e Pepe, the cashew cream sauce was very tasty and highlighted the black pepper and cheese flavors. At first I wasn't a fan of it. After a few bites, it grew on me!
