I've been to Camille's 5 times with the most recent time being this weekend for my husband's birthday. Let me start off by saying the bartenders absolutely need training. Our favorite drink for a night out is a dirty martini extra dirty. The martinis here are NEVER cold enough. They are legit luke warm. So we have learned to ask for them extra shaken here. Not only were our martinis still not cold, but they were clear aka not dirty. We sent them back based on the color and our server brought the same martinis back with a side of olive juice. After trying them with the extra juice they had a dirty water taste to them, almost like the ice used to shake them was dirty, which is ironic considering they were barely cold. I hate to do this but we sent them back again and let the server know they simply didn't taste good and also were not cold enough. He ended up going back and making them himself and they were much better but STILL. It shouldn't be this difficult for a bartender to make a very standard drink. The food unfortunately was also very mid. The table behind us actually sent their food back twice as well and the manager had to come over. It's also worth noting I put in the reservation it was my husband's birthday and there was no acknowledgement of it at all. This restaurant is meant to be a splurge for a nice dinner out and honestly was not up to par at all. $300 dinner for two and I was extremely disappointed. We made a reservation at the earliest time. Got seated right away. This is our annual dinner celebration of a birthday. Our server Christopher seemed a little unfriendly. Not one smile was given. We have had a lot of different experiences with the servers here but they were all friendly and helpful. Also I think it is nice all the servers remember the special menu but I would like to see it print out on a piece of paper. The other staffs that ran away to collect our plate, filled our water and packed our takeout boxes were really nice. Calamari with banana peppers were excellent as always!!! Our entrees were Chicken parm with capellini in pink vodka sauce and the meatball on the side! Love the pink sauce, good creaminess and balance of flavor! Chicken parm with marinara sauce and meatball on the side! Everything was done well! When we asked for a bit of pink sauce because it didn't come with a lot of it on my plate... I wanna make sure I can still have some for the takeaway leftover. We got charged for $5 extra sauce? We were being informed for that. So that was a bit off putting. I have done that in the past before. But none of the waiter would charge me for a scoop of sauce. I didn't know it until I looked at the receipt to be honest. I've been here quite a few times, my sister likes to come here for her birthday and she reserves the upstairs private room area, so I've never been downstairs in the main restaurant so this is only speaking from the private room. But every time I come here the valet is absolutely professional and sweet and they work hard because the street the restaurant is on is very small. I recommend always doing valet here, because I mean it is Fed Hill good luck finding parking. The staircase up the stairs is nice and when you get upstairs it's absolutely Devine. The look of it is fancy, and it gives you that dim lit relaxed ambience. You always get an amazing personal server we had Micaiah which he was beyond amazing. Very attentive, relaxed and patient- which is always appreciated when you have a big party. He treated everyone with respect and got all the orders correct and treated us well! Now to the food- I got a lobster tail with whipped potatoes oh my yummy! I miss them I want more. My sister got salmon and she never likes to finish it all because she always wants some for later but last night she ate it all it's very flavorful and yummy. Not one single guest complained about their order. The sizes are pretty decent. The food is very flavorful. And the presentation is amazing! And don't get me wrong. The prices can get very steep here but you pay for the ambience, you pay for the great service, and you pay for the atmosphere. So to me, I believe that that's a winner. You also have a private bathroom upstairs with you and your party use which is great to have is very close by. No other guests will be using it. It's extremely clean. They have a beautiful mirror in there and it's very well stocked. Every single time I've come here every server that I've had has been tremendously amazing they're always very kind and I cannot complain about the service at all. We got recommended Camille's by someone at The Sandwich Hut (great sandwiches btw). Didn't make a reservation but highly recommend that you do. This place can get very busy! Fine Italian dining on Federal Hill. Camille's is what you want for special occasion, at least based on my family birthday dinner. Service is high end and impeccable- multiple folks checked in on us, and the staff recognized our occasion with an extra treat. My dish was splendid. If I ate that rich every night it would not be good, but a fillet on fresh ravioli with a lovely subtle white sauce and a nice filling for the ravioli complementing the fresh spinach and the fillet. The fillet cooked perfectly, which the waiter checked in on. Everything we tasted was exceptional. The decor is old school and luxurious - I felt like I was having dinner with an ambassador. I had the Oysters Rockefeller and Veal Parm, my friend ate the Arancini di Roso and Chicken Francese. The veal and chicken cutlets were perfectly crispy but the meat was still tender enough to cut and chew easily, their gravy isn't too spicy or salty. The oysters were fresh and delicate with buttery flavor and the arancini had a comforting texture with bold flavor. I indulged in two glasses of Prosecco and my friend had two Bikini Martinis. I do a lot of research before picking a restaurant, and dinner at Camille's in Providence proved to be an excellent choice. We went with a family-style approach and started with carpaccio, calamari, and stuffed artichokes--all delicious. For salads, we had both the Caesar and the Burrata Caprese. For the main course, we shared a veal chop, pounded thin and transformed into an extraordinary veal Parmesan--tender, flavorful, and generously portioned.... HUGE-- share it! We also added the Pasta Aglio e Olio, which was phenomenal--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. We capped off the meal with a slice of homemade cheesecake that didn't disappoint--rich, creamy, and a perfect finish. But the highlight of the evening was the service--absolutely over the top. I went here in December for my anniversary dinner and it was amazing; the restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays, which added to the romantic ambiance. For drinks, we enjoyed glasses of Sauvignon Blanc off of their extensive wine list. For dinner, the Zuppa de Pesce and the Capesante alla Giovanni were both delicious; the servings were very large which allowed for leftovers as well. Lastly, we had chocolate raspberry cake for dessert, and our waiter kindly sneaked in an extra slice for the special occasion. Last night we went to Camille's with friends and we had a really good dining experience. The restaurant is an upscale (dressy casual) Italian tradition on the Hill in Providence. Our waiter was very polite and he helped us with separate checks. Everyone enjoyed their dishes, which were of good size, the lasagna dish was probably at least 2 lbs while the Bolognese came in a huge bowl full of pasta and delicious sauce. Several boxes were needed to take food home at the end of dinner..... I got the grilled salmon and it was prepared very well over risotto. My husband got the Pollo a la Francese and he loved his meal. The only disappointment was that I was interested in one of the specials (which when the waiter recites them, he does not tell you the price of them...I had to specifically ask for the price of the Sea Bass)...initially he said the Bass was served over a risotto...so when it was time to order, I asked him to describe the Bass special again and now he said, it's over mashed potatoes...I said...I don't want mashed potatoes, so instead of saying that he could ask to change the bed of starch, he did not. My wife and I visited Camille's last week, I had high expectations after studying their menu in advance. Even though our visit was for lunch we ordered an appetizer, an off-menu dinner item, and a lunch special. The service was excellent throughout the entire meal from start to finish, I don't recall the gentleman's name, but he was an excellent waiter, The decor inside the restaurant was rather upscale and somewhat dimly lit by design. As to the food, the off menu item was a veal chop parm, bone-in with a vodka sauce. The lunch special was a lobster casserole, and the appetizer was their version of fried calamari. I wanted to love the veal chop, it looked great on presentation and I will include a photo, My issue with was it was pounded thin, with a thick coating around it rendering it, tough and the meat itself was really not juicy, considering all the sauce on it, it came across as kind of dry and the sauce wasn't helping the experience, it was adding another bland taste to it. The best part was the melted cheese. The chop wasn't bad, but I just wasn't thrilled by the flavor, or texture for the cost. It came with some pasta with the same sauce and I left most of that. The lobster casserole looked and tasted good. My issue with it was, it was not much seafood for the money. One large scallop, one half a small lobster tail, one small lobster claw and a small amount of crab meat. Most of the shellfish was out of shell. I think there might have been a shrimp or two also, but overall for the cost, it seemed skimpy being in New England. But from a taste perspective, it was good. Lastly, the appetizer was pretty good, the calamari was tender and they hit it with lemon at the table. The lobster casserole and the calamari were the best items. My wife and I came here for date night. Definitely old school Italian. We were seated promptly and the service was pleasant. We ordered a few apps, arincini balls, and fried cheese. They both came out Luke warm and not hot. Disappointing. My wife ordered the meon chicken. It was delicious. I ordered the veal rib chop and was able to get the coconut lime risotto which was on the specials menu. The veal was a bit dry and overcooked, but the risotto was fantastic! We went there again for Valentine's Day and again, got another waiter that was not personable. Not sure if this is the vibe they are going for, but when we looked around other waiters seemed very pleasant. We didn't even get a smile from our waiters either time. And, my steak was almost raw. Perfect restaurant for any special occasion. We started with the baccala and I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. They do a good job of balancing the cold cod with lettuce, onions, olives, and a light dressing. I was expecting the cod to be heavily salted, but it wasn't. I ordered the bone in veal parm ($50) and it came with a side of pasta. It was huge and was cooked perfectly. I had to take home half of it because it was so filling. The sauce was very good and the cheese was top notch. The service here is amazing. The waiter was super knowledgeable and my water glass was never empty. They have a great selection of wine by the glass and the waiter was able to pair our meals perfectly. Camille's has been a staple on Federal Hill and it still lives up to its reputation. The ambiance is both inviting and elegant, with blown glass light fixtures and a chic, upper-crust feel. I was so excited to visit this restaurant, I finally got to go for my birthday last year, My daughters surprised me with a reservation. I have to say the food was not as I expected. we love seafood and well both my daughters ordered seafood dishes and one plate had to be returned and other seafood pasta was very bland. The manager gave an attitude he was rude I was very disappointed. On the other hand The lasagna I order was delicious very tasty very saucy it was really good but the rudeness and attitude of the manager left a bad taste in my mouth. I travel a lot and have visited Little Italy sections in various states, I found Providence RI to be the most friendly. I noticed it more when I went to Camille's. Camille's has been a Rhode Island dining staple since 1914. It's a rite of passage while in Rhode Island and it's my first time here so I'm excited to dine at Camille's. I valet my car and walk up the steps, I made a reservation early for one. The dining room was empty but the time I left it was packed out. My waiter brought to me some warm bread and a glass of premium Italian wine. Nice pour, very impressed so far. As an old school Italian myself, I knew what my first dish at Camille's will be, the Veal Vitello Alla Parmigiano. They pound the veal nice and thin and bake it with sauce and parmigiana cheese. It's what I ordered as a kid and still order to this day. Sure you can get chicken cutlet parm, it's my favorite. As a kid and when I stepped up the the Veal Parm? I was wearing my good shoes for sure! As with any great Italian restaurant, they offer a side of spaghetti. I also must point out that I can't eat like this anymore, it's so much food! And I no longer have a Nonna standing over me saying, what? You no like? I do what I want! Haha The Veal Vitello Alla Parmigiano from Camille's is pure perfection. It's a thinly pounded slice but not over cooked. It's juicy, flavorful and man does it flood my mind with so many good memories. Well done everyone, bravo. Starting with the valet, he was attentive and super friendly and speedy. The atmosphere of the restaurant was perfect. Our waiter was friendly and very funny! Not only did we enjoy our meal and drinks, but the service was outstanding. Hands down the best Crème Brûlée we've ever had. Drinks were great. The bread was okay, kind of dry, but we aren't big bread people. Started with the wedge salad and the waiter split it for us due to big portion sizes and it was the perfect amount, and incredible. Highly recommend. We both ordered the one of the specials and they were delicious. Portions were huge, so we took a lot home. I had a great time at Camille's recently! I was visiting my best friend for the weekend a few weeks ago and went to dinner there with her and her parents. When we arrived, the valet parked the car, which was nice considering it was extremely cold out. My friend's parents are regulars at Camille's, so the staff knows them there. They always get the same waiter and they know them by name. That was pretty impressive to me considering it's clear they get a lot of customers! When you walk through the front door, there's a lobby-like room and the actual restaurant is set further back through another door. When it's so cold out like it is now, it's awesome that the cold air doesn't come directly into the dining area every time someone walks in or out of the restaurant. When we walked back into the actual restaurant, the host at the front immediately greeted us and offered to take our coats. They put our jackets in the coat room, which we retrieved on our way out. They ordered red wine and I got a martini, which was very good. The waiter recommended it to me as it's a popular drink. We got a couple appetizers of arancini for the table. I was skeptical to try one as I had never had one before, but it was surprisingly really good! For dinner, since it was restaurant week, I chose the price fixed meal option that came with an appetizer, entree, and dessert. I got a Caesar salad for my appetizer, which came with an anchovy across the top. I was a little surprised about that and it kind of grossed me out because I do not like anchovies, but once I took it off, the salad tasted really good. If you don't like anchovies, take note of this and don't forget to tell them not to put an anchovy on top of your salad. For my entree, I got chicken Parmesan. It was cooked in the sauce and served over pasta. I really enjoyed the dish and the fact that it wasn't too big of a portion. My friend got gnocchi bolognese which was SO good. For dessert, we ordered tiramisu and chocolate mousse cake. We all shared the desserts, and they were both really good. The two desserts were more than enough for the four of us. They liked the cake better without the raspberry sauce, which I understand as it was a little sour and the cake was really good on its own. Impeccable service from John and others, delicious cocktails and food - fresh and perfectly done. The noise level was very low but to be fair, we were there at 4. Went on a Wednesday night so not too busy, walked in and sat at the bar. They provide you with complimentary bread as many of the Italian spots do in this area. I got the cumber martini (def Strong but I guess I can't complain since some drinks usually aren't) I got the chicken which usually comes with mashed potatoes and veggies as a side. I substituted the mash for a side salad (+$4). It came out fast and was good. They must pre make the sauce in advance and it comes with 2 thin chicken cutlets. If I could rate this meal a 10000/10 I would. I loved my grandmas veal Marsala so much I ordered it to go for dinner (sadly not pictured). Also, had some of her snail salad which was delicious. All four of us loved their food and drinks and ordered even more food to go.
