Four of us went to dine at the restaurant before going to attend a performance at the nearby Trinity Rep. It is a place we like. We were seated at a semi-circular booth by the window - more comfortable than at the table and metallic chairs. We had a number of cocktails: Tommy Pickles, the Trinity and a Limonata. The fourth, a tea totaled, had a Ginger Ale. The generous portion main dishes were a shrimp bucatini, a squid ink pasta, swordfish, a thick pork chop and an eggplant parm. All very tasty. We took some of the food home. To end we shared a good tiramisu. And two of us had coffees. Our server, Desiree, was efficient and cheerful. Located in the DownCity area of Providence, Rosalina offers exceptional Mediterranean flavors, characterized by fresh ingredients and impeccable taste. I had never heard of a pizzette fritte, but elected to try it as my appetizer. I was astounded at the sheer size of this appetizer and mistakenly thought it was my main. My goodness! I would volunteer to return to Providence just so I could have another Rosalina pizzette fritte! Evidently, this is a dish traditionally shared during Italian festivals. It's similar to a dough boy, made with flaky, airy dough and topped with an irresistible pomodoro sauce and pecorino romano cheese. This may be among the most delicious things I've ever eaten! The pomodoro sauce is so rich and flavorful, with a hint of sweet among a rich tomato flavor. I'm not sure I can adequately express how delicious the pizzette fritte is! My main was the cauliflower steak. The restaurant has a wide array of options, including vegan and vegetarian options. The cauliflower steak was flavorful and served with a generous portion of cashew cacio e pepe pasta. It's very evident the staff and owner, I believe it's Laura, take immense pride in creating masterful dishes, transporting diners to the Mediterranean. Food consists of fine ingredients and is expertly presented. The restaurant is intimate, with red and white plaid napkins. Rosalina exudes quality and authenticity without pretense. Dear fellow Yelpers, You should stop what you are doing and immediately call Rosalina's to make a reservation. You will not be disappointed! I have been two times in the last month. It's a quant restaurant within walking distance to PPAC and other downtown gems. Both times we have had reservations and no waiting necessary. The first time our table was right in front of the kitchen, I felt like we are at the chef's table. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the kitchen work their magic. The staff are nice and efficient. The charcuterie board is amazing! Lots of meat, lots of cheese, including burrata! Overall great for sharing and just the thing we needed to kick off girls night with my Moscato. Both times I had the burrata ravioli which is served with 2 large meatballs. Granted the meatballs are not as good as my mom's but not terrible. The burrata ravioli is the win here! Just as good as leftovers the next day. The second time we did some sharing so I was able to have their chicken parm- a daily special. Flavorful and great portion but the chicken was chewy. On ladies night- I did have the cheesecake. What a beautiful presentation! Adorned beautifully with fruit and drizzled with white chocolate. The cheesecake was delicious but the crust was a little moist, I like it a little crispier for a nice distinction between the cake and crust. Just a heads up... The desert drink features as their main photo. Don't get too excited. It's not available. I was told it was made one time for a bartenders friend. I was just as disappointed as you may be. One of my favorite Italian places in the state of Rhode Island where I'm trying to become a local at!!! EVERY SINGLE TIME I GO, I ALWAYS GET THE PIZZETTE FRITE AND YOU HAVE TO AS WELL!! Food: - the meatball burrata ravioli: this was actually really tasty. The portion was bigger than I expected which was a good thing because sometimes ravioli dishes can be minimal. It was cooked just right and I would get it again. - squid ink spaghetti: my friend ordered this and I was able to get a taste. Not a huge fan of squid ink things but I gotta say, that one in particular was not bad and pretty flavorful. It didn't have an over bearing squid ink taste. I wouldn't order it but I wouldn't knock it either. - the chocolate peanut butter dessert: this was so good. Mostly bc I crave all things with this combo. It was t too heavy and not too sweet. Service: Our waitress was really attentive and nice. She helped me decide on my options since I wanted too many things lol Ambiance: It's a cute spot. A bit artsy and Italian. We're were looking forward to a great experience based on reviews and recommendations but were let down big time. I'll start with the good.... The food was solid and fresh. Unfortunately, the service was slow and inattentive. We waited 10 minutes just to get water at the table and longer to get cocktails. One of the cocktails we ordered off the menu was good and well made. The second cocktail we ordered was an old fashioned and somehow the bartender didn't know how to make one. The old fashioned was served neat and in some sort of champagne glass of some sort. No ice, not served in a low ball glass and not garnished with orange peel. Totall miss. As for the ambiance... All I want to say is, OMG. My friend and I popped into this tucked away on a side street spot for dinner for our ShePVD event we were hosting at nearby AS220. It was our first visit (um, not the last!) and I was blown away by the tasty goodness that was our meal. The savory fried bread ... the caprese salad with prosciutto ... the mountainous charcuterie board ... the perfect cocktails. Amazing! We were the first diners at an early start of 430 pm. A solid addition to the PVD dining scene. Traditional hearty Italian food with no "modern American", fusion, etc. First visit. A bit quiet - late and the day after XMAS. Great and quick service Cocktail menu is small but the "Tommy Pickles" was a sure winner. Entrees were a Caprese salad with prosciutto, chicken parm, and squid ink pasta. Excited to eat here as we haven't been in a year. The food was good, a few dishes are quite spicy (hot) which was unexpected to me. I thought that was great, but another member of our party of four did not and wasn't able to eat. I also found it to be pricier than i expected (the pork chop doesn't come with a vegetable OR a starch?), and this after paying 26.50 to park in a lot across the street, wtf! At these prices they need to partner with a lot and validate. BUT, and I'm not sure if this was due to a mechanical failure that they didn't disclose, we left STINKING of "kitchen". Everything we wore needed to be left outside to air out (and to be washed today). I have never experienced this in a "nice" restaurant, ever. Not going back, unfortunately. read more

Typical good italian food, generous portions. The eggplant parmigiana was actually very good. It was very busy so had to sit outside and it was a chilly evening so that was a bumner. Right away we had probably THE BEST wings I've ever had. Our wing chef had this amazing recipe with a side ranch dressing that was like no other ranch I've had before. The wing sauce was so good that we got their bread and dipped it in the wing sauce and ranch. This combo could be and should be a menu item. Dinner was ravioli and meatballs and eggplant parmigiana. Portions were incredible. The sauce out of this world, ravioli was great and eggplant-Wow. I'm not one to just throw out 5 stars, but if there was an option for 6 stars, they would get 6 stars. We had a reservation for Rosalina and was running late, so I called and gave the host a heads up. There was no problem when we arrived and the table was still waiting for us. We ordered the Italian wedge salad, tagliatelle bolognese, and squid ink spaghetti. The Italian wedge salad was with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, pancetta, scallions, and gorgonzola dressing. We were a little surprised by the presentation of the salad, since it was a head of iceberg lettuce and drenched with gorgonzola dressing. We had to cut the lettuce into pieces. The lettuce was definitely fresh and watery. The tagliatelle bolognese had beef, pork, veal, pancetta, and milk. This was very flavorful and pasta was fresh. The squid ink spaghetti was with crab, chilies, white wine, and evoo. This dish was very disappointing. I was looking forward to try this because of the other reviews, but the pasta was clumpy and it had a very strong seafood taste. Portions were a good size. Service was okay, but could have been better. I definitely recommend getting the tagliatelle bolognese from here, but for better Italian food, I would recommend going to Federal Hill. read more

Extremely Terrible Experience. I ordered the pork chop, and I waited for over 30 minutes to get it. The portion is big, big disaster! It is very very hard to chew. I would prefer if the portion wasn't so large; at least I could suffer a little less. It's difficult for you to imagine that pork can have such an unappetizing taste. If you want to waste your money, just come!!! If you do not want to pay tips for this unsatisfactory experience, the waiter will send an email to your school or company. Baby it's Cold Inside This small, open kitchen restaurant is adorable, and the food is very good...but I don't want to go out and wear my coat during dinner. We were two couples who had reserved a table on Saturday night of Restaurant Week. We had a big round table in the corner that we loved. The restaurant was noisy, our server Kevin was terrific. We loved, loved the wedge salad -- best dressing ever and it coated the lettuce perfectly. Bread was soft and tasty, with dipping oil. Eggplant parm was very good, a little sweet. Swordfish was delectable and the 10-oz. strip steak was thick and tender. The only clunker was the pork chop, which I had ordered medium rare. It came overcooked, dry and saturated with vinegar. I sent it back and Kevin took it off the bill. The cheesecake with blackberries was fabulous. I could have eaten several pieces! We'll go back. read more

High energy packed out Saturday night. This is a hot little spot close to the theaters. Overall, we enjoyed the food and the lively atmosphere. The pizza frite was crunchy w an airy texture topped with their solid tomato sauce and fresh Parmesan. The lamb chops over risotto was a lovely presentation, but the lamb chops needed to be cooked a bit longer as they were practically raw in the middle so we sent those back. The eggplant Parm appetizer was perfection. If not slightly salty. The whole Branzino was very good. The Berkshire pork chop with its spicy vinegar sauce was a stand out. Their take on tiramisu is definitely not traditional more like Boston cream pie consistency made with cake rather than ladyfingers. Everyone loved the thick dense cheesecake. Went to Rosalina for a second time since 2018 (at which time we believed this restaurant was INSANELY delicious). Our dinner and experience this time around was not very great. The staff was really kind but didn't have much knowledge about the menu. Which, unfortunately, for someone asking questions due to dietary restrictions, that information and knowledge is important. The meal itself was okay. I ordered the cauliflower steak and it was good but not great. I was really impressed they had at least 1 vegan/vegetarian option on the menu. Also ordered the caprese salad and it was lacking in flavor. The portion sizes were big and impressive! The ambiance was relaxed and laid back. In reccomendation of a friend, we chose Rosalina for our anniversary dinner. The chef is the owner of the former Cleo's in Providence. It's a quaint place and very homey. We were greeted and sat immediately. Cocktails were a limoncello special and a Manhattan, both were very good. Warm Bread with oil was brought out. We were going to share an appetizer and a salad, but upon seeing the size of entrees, we decided to only get the salad. We chose the caprese salad that had a burrata instead of mozzarella. It was easily big enough to share and delicious. I chose the thick cut pork chop fit and entree and added a spinach side. My husband chose the chicken parmigiana special. Both were abundant and we enjoyed them. We both could not finish and brought home about 1/2 to 1/4 of them. No room left to sample the desserts, but we saw a couple and they looked equally large and other parties loved them. Definitely a place we would like to visit again. read more

First word that comes to mind when I think of Rosalina is homey. There's an open kitchen so you know you're getting the best prepared food. The napkins are picnic style so you don't feel obligated to eat all polite and the tables are intentionally run down to give it a rustic feel. Not to mention there's very unique family like portraits on the wall. We had a table of 11 and I felt the food came out quick. Despite being a smaller place, they were able to accommodate us so I really appreciated them for that. Our waiter was super nice, attentive, and gave really good recommendations. For appetizers, we ordered the pizzette frite, italian charcuterie, and sautéed shrimp and mussels. The pizzette frite was a bit different than what I expected but not in a bad way. I was expecting a crunchier dish but because the pizza sauce was poured over the fried dough, it was softer. Think of the taste as a really buttery piece of soft bread with pizza sauce on top. The sauce was great: herby, cheesy tasting, tomatoey, and not too thick not too thin. Absolutely recommend. Next, the charcuterie board. I'm a simple person when it comes to cheeses and deli meats, so I prefer a super sharp cheddar and some bologna. Thus, this didn't really impress me too much but it's me, don't blame the board. There's a ton of unique flavors and a lot to appreciate. Lastly, the sautéed shrimp and mussels. WOW, that sauce. It was tomatoey but it also had a kick to it and I love my spice. The mussels were fresh and absorbed a ton of the sauce. My favorite was scooping some into every shell to have with each bite. For the main entree I ordered the squid ink spaghetti. This was my first time trying squid ink spaghetti and it didn't taste too different than regular pasta. But, it was cooked perfectly. The sauce/evoo mix was simple but good. The crab was a good addition, kind of gave it a hint of meaty but isn't your traditional chicken or beef or pork. And it was seasoned well. Street parking can take a bit of time to find but it was a Sunday so it's FREE. If you're in the area, this is a solid restaurant and I would recommend giving it a try. read more

Second time coming here and both times did not disappoint. The burrata and bread is such a tasty way to start the meal. The charcuterie board was huge for two people but honestly worth the try. Most of the cheese was too pungent for my fiancé but we both really enjoyed it ( to the point we were almost too full for our meal and still had some to take home). Despite some mixed reviews I tried the squid ink pasta and I was really glad I did. It had a good spice level, decent amount of crab, and my leftovers reheated decently. The New York strip was cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes were to die for!! Our waitress was so sweet and props to her for suggesting the mashed potatoes.
