We were in Providence for Waterfire and looked for a reasonable Italian restaurant - and made a rez for Rosalina's. We couldn't have made a better choice! We shared the Ravioli entree and the Eggplant Parmesan appetizer, which was entree-sized. The ravioli was good, but the Eggplant was the star of the evening, with a tartness and richness that brought out all the flavors. Yum! In Providence for a candlelight concert and wanted something bit more simple than Gracie's so decided to try Rosalina. Service was good, food was decent. Wife had the bolognese which was pretty good. I had swordfish which was presented nicely not quite as moist as I'd like it and orzo was undercooked. Spinach side dish was bagged spinach and way over salted. If you are looking for a quiet dinner don't go here as pretty noisy especially a group of adults with their daughters who were yelling at each other around the table fortunately they left. Took my girlfriend here on our 2 year anniversary date. This place was perfect for that occasion. It's very fancy but not too expensive. A small candle lights your table with the dim lights around the restaurant. The waiter was very professional and nice. To start off they give you a loaf of bread cut up with a small bowl of cheese in seasoned olive oil. Way better than butter and bread. The squid ink spaghetti had an amazing taste to it. This place is our back up for when we can't get in somewhere else* *Now I must explain, we're new to the area, and want to try consistently new places, but that doesn't always work out. On our first visit, I ordered a "safe" Bolognese that was incredibly flavorful, I was not wishing I had ordered something more extravagant. When we inevitably returned, I tried the squid ink pasta with crab, and my partner ordered the pomodoro ravioli. Both were delightful. I came here just to say how amazing the veal and pea pasta is! Honestly probably one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. We recently visited here before a play at Trinity. It was across the street so it was very convenient. The dining room was small. We sat so close to the next table we could have share our dinner with them. The waitress was very nice and right there if you needed something. We ordered some appetizers which were very tasty and then the dinner. Everything tasted fresh and was well plated. There seems to more and more restaurants popping up in the city. I had a very nice dinner last night at Rosalina in downtown PVD. We started with some appeitizers and the charcuterie board in particular was fantastic. For my main course I had a pasta dish that was good and it was a generous porition. I had a rollercoaster of emotions from visiting Rosalina, but they ended on a high note and started on a low note. It began during restaurant week. My friend called ahead to ask if they would honor restaurant week deals the day after it technically ended (It was the only day we could go), and whomever he talked to said yes, that would be fine. So, we went under the premise we could get the deal/eat from that menu only to learn they would NOT accommodate us in that way. (It makes sense, but we were discouraged at receiving misinformation). Making the best of it, I checked into Yelp and got a free glass of wine (!) But when I got it, the pour was maybe three ounces. It was like we were on the waitress's shitlist because of the restaurant week inquiry (we didn't cause a scene or anything, we just explained what we'd been told), and I got the feeling she assumed we were cheap people. I was ready to be done, but we were convinced to stay by the menu items. And I'll be honest: the food redeemed the night. Even the olive oil that came with the bread was LEGIT. It's the same olive oil as Kleos, which comes from the owner's family's olives in Greece, and it's good enough to drink (I literally spooned the remains). Blessed day, this is what dresses their Greek Salad (IT'S SO GOOD: very authentic to a Horiatiki salad in Greece) and that was the first win of the night. Sausage and peppers: amazing, although I dropped my cell phone into the skillet while trying to take a photo Bolognese: in the top 2 I've had in Rhode Island Burrata ravioli with meatballs: WHO THINKS TO DO THIS? Genius! and it was delicious. We finished with tiramisu, which was unnecessarily drizzled with chocolate sauce. (it would have been better without it). All in all, the food is really great. I was annoyed by the miscommunication/reception we received, but aside from that, it's a good Italian restaurant to keep in mind! read more

This place is just wonderful. My husband got the wedge salad and pasta with veal and peas and could not rave highly enough about how delicate and delicious everything tasted. I'm vegan and they have a cauliflower steak which is very good but it comes with a vegan pasta dish that was so good it made me cry. The restaurant is small and cozy. The ambience is sweet. There is an easy parking lot across the street. We've been twice now and this is definitely our new favorite Italian restaurant. We live in Boston but will gladly make the drive to enjoy the pasta. read more

Visited during 2018 Restaurant Week. The apps were fantastic! I had the Chilled Calamari which was loaded with flavor. The mixture of the hot peppers and cool tomatoes and the crunch of celery made the dish. My wife had the Grilled Italian Sausage which had a great flavor and the accompanying peppers and onions were well done. The entrees were good, but based on other reviews I had hoped for a bit more. I got the Swordfish which was good, but a little over cooked and could have used just a touch of additional seasoning. The Pappardelle Bolognese was very flavorful but the pasta was probably 30 seconds over cooked. I had the Tiramisu for dessert. I loved the extra dose of espresso on the bottom. The ladyfingers were soaked in I and it added a great flavor to the dish. I will definitely give Rosalina's another visit. Enjoyed a dinner with family when we were in town for a wedding. The service was good. The charcuterie was outstanding and very plentiful! My husband ordered a wedge salad and it was amazing! A few at the table ordered the squid ink pasta and really enjoyed it. A few others ordered the ravioli and meatballs- we had leftovers for the next day. Thanks to Michael P. for the stellar recommendation! Because we were both ordering hearty pasta entrees we debated getting a starter. Everything just sounded so good that we had to, so we went with the Italian wedge salad. Usually wedge salads are nothing special, but this was unlike anything that I've ever had. The addition of fresh and creamy blue cheese dressing with locally made chunks of cheese, crispy pancetta and brightly colored heirloom tomatoes turned the iceberg lettuce into a masterpiece. We scarfed this down in seconds. For my main I ordered burrata cheese ravioli topped meatballs. The order was hearty and came with three large raviolis and two large meatballs. The ravioli was stuffed with creamy cheese and the meatballs were probably some of the best that I've tasted. The red sauce was also very tasty. My mans went with gemelli with sausage and broccoli rabe. This dish was a little too spicy for my tastebuds, but he really enjoyed. Pasta portions are incredibly large, so if you aren't super hungry I'd suggest sharing. Dessert looked great (lots of surrounding tables had cheesecake) but we had no room. Aye... big big miss tonight. Started off with great service. We were surprised they were still offering restaurant week menu seeing it ended yesterday! We decided to go with the restaurant week menu- Calamari- when you do a cold salad like any ceviche type dish you can't have it soak in the acid too long or Or becomes rubbery- so this was the case rubbery and needed salt Wedge salad- the o my half decent bite we had Then the entrees- oh boy-Both were sent back due to the swordfish and pork chop were raw in the middle!! The waiter apologize profusely and took them back- what we got when they returned was the same pieces of meat charred to death. It was awful. Your meat shouldn't be black on the outside and raw in the middle- maybe your cooking on too high of heat? We also got the squash pasta to share- that was delicious! Dessert was not good- tiramisu was not good- maybe restaurant week they get the frozen stuff? Who knows. All we got was a 1oz pour each of a espresso martini for the raw meals- ridiculous. They could've comped something else off the bill. My husband even got charged for a coffee-$3. Very disappointing and will make sure to venture elsewhere when we go to ppac. 1 Star for the dressing that came with the wedge salad...and spaghetti... When two meals get sent back due to being raw we should've at the very least been visited by a manager. Pretty ridiculous to make your waitstaff apologize on behalf of the restaurant. My boyfriend and I with his mom and dad dined there tonight. we had a reservation at 6:15. Our waiter was Tyler. He was extremely attentive and patient with us. My boyfriends parents can be a little bit much but he was so gracious with us. There was an issue with one of the plates one of us had ordered however it was immediately taken back and rectified. We got that entree for free and everything was smooth sailing from there out. The food was delicious and so flavorful. We all really enjoyed it. The restaurant is a little bit small but still feels comfortable and you can watch the chefs make your food which is really cool. I will definitely be returning soon. So delicious. Again our waiters name was Tyler and he was so nice and always checking in on us. If you want good Italian food 1000% come here. You won't regret it!!! read more

A quaint and dimly lit place that serves Italian food. The food was authentic and freshly made. The service was good, my friend reserved a table via open table. I started off with some of they're cocktails, pretty tasty. They had a wide variety of drinks. I ordered their buratta raviolis with meatballs. This dish came with three large raviolis, you could tell this was handmade from scratch. The meatballs were also tender and flavorful. The red tomato sauce tied it all together. This meal was 5 stars in my book. I had a taste of the squid ink pasta which was super flavorful; not saucy which sucks for me because I love saucy food. We ordered the caprese, eggplant parmigiana antipasta, a side of meatballs, side of sautéed spinach, side of twice baked potato and the cauliflower steak cacio a pepe. Sorry not all pictured here. The buratta and tomatoes in the caprese salad was super fresh. Eggplant parm was layered but still crispy. Twice baked potato was creamy and flavorful. The food and service were both wonderful. I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 because the restaurant was a bit warm for me. It was August and outside temp was in the 90's. The restaurant temp was 77 and they couldn't get it any lower. I would have stayed longer and spent more money but it was just too warm for my comfort. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this place! read more

Luckily I made a reservation but due to the high occupancy - we were stuck with what seemed to be a 2 seater made into into a 3 seater. My gf had to keep getting up for other people either going to and from the bathroom or new patrons being seated at the table next to us. I was very excited to come here based on rave reviews so was a little disappointed. Started with the eggplant Parm appetizer - good but a bit too salty for me. Went with the swordfish for dinner - it was ok....should've gone with the porkchops (the waitress did tell me it was delicious but I didn't listen). My friends had the sea bass and chicken - I sampled both and they were good. The place is super cute and cozy and service was great. Food, however was just ok for me. Perhaps I just chose the wrong items off the menu, I'd give it another chance but not rushing back. Parking can be a pain - so I used valet - just a warning if you do use valet, it's on a one way street so it can take a while for your car to turn up. read more

Two of us ate at the bar since we were really late trying to get a reservation for a Saturday night. First time there and it was really great. Great service from Zach at the bar and excellent food. We shared the special Italian chicken wings with honey mustard as an appetizer followed by the Greek salad and a whole roasted Bronzino over arugula served with a kalamata olive tapenade. Tender and perfectly seasoned. Finished things off with their homemade Belgian waffle sundae which Zach casually described as being very good. It turned out to be one of the best desserts either of us have had in recent memory. The waffle was fresh out of the iron, dense, crispy and sweet and it was served over a smear of Nutella and covered with two generous scoops of some fantastic vanilla gelato, chocolate sauce and fresh whipped cream and some kind of crunchy, chocolatey, nutty candy crumbles. Unbelievable. Bonus - about five minutes before it arrived the entire restaurant was filled with the aroma of the waffle cooking.... mmmmm.... We're already planning our next trip back. Stopped in for happy hour and were not well-received. We arrived at 4:30pm because we had just gotten into town and hadn't eaten lunch. The restaurant was completely empty and the bartender was still prepping for the evening so she looked annoyed that we were there for happy hour. Even though we were the only patrons and she was still getting ready, we asked if we could sit in the dining room and she snapped and said that happy hour is only at the bar (which is understandable) but that was the second interaction in which she was unpleasant. My friend ordered the Tina Louise cocktail and asked if the name was pronounced 'lew-ease' or 'low-is' and she snapped back informing us that she was the actress from Gilligan's Island--rude encounter #3. We're not millennials but also don't remember actresses names like IMDB. For the happy hour specials, I was not impressed. The blue point oysters were $1 each, not flavorful, sandy and the mignonette sauce was bland. The homemade sausage was tough, and not juicy or fatty. I had higher expectations for this popular restaurant but left feeling that the food was mediocre. The menu is limited and I was looking for a dish with a red tomato or bolognese sauce or something not too cheesy or creamy. Unfortunately the few pasta dishes were prepared with a white cream sauce even the Veal Bolognese. I ended up getting the Thick Pork Chop which was excellent even though it was fatty the fat was creamy goodness. The sauce had a nice spiciness to it. The only problem was that I couldn't pick up the bone and chew the rest of the meat off of it. Not the polite thing to do in a nice restaurant. The downside was the other 3 dishes, each were not enjoyed by my dinner guests. I tried the chicken pesto and thought it was ok and had a nice basil pesto flavor to it but the other dishes were not memorable. One other thing that I did not appreciate is when a server tries to up sell and talked me into ordering a side dish of twice mashed potatoes. It was OK but I could have done without it and we ended up taking most of it home. They have a good wine list and it's reasonably priced. They also have a small cocktail list. It was very crowded and noisy the night we were there but we had a good seat next to the open kitchen. Overall I may try them again but with so many choices in Providence I won't be in a hurry. read more
