Hmmmm. Not sure where to begin, but I wish I had read the reviews before heading here. Here's the good, bad and ugly... To start, the menus were flimsy, wrinkled and stained with oil. They look like they should have a one time use, but they are clearly recycled for longer. Our server was very busy, as they seemed to be understaffed with a huge party on one side and the bar was full. He checked in with us periodically. There were babies and little kids sitting at every one of the tables on the bar side, except ours, which was odd to us. This seems like more of an adult restaurant (at least the bar side). There was a seemingly drunk patron at the bar loudly dropping f-bombs every few minutes, which was disruptive to our dining experience and I imagine the parents of the little kids did not appreciate this. We ordered a few appetizers as it was our first time here. We wanted to check out a few items. The soup du jour was good, but the bowl was small. The grilled romaine salad was tasty. The mussels, including the cream sauce, were good, except the size of the actual mussels were extremely small. We would have preferred regular fries to the truffle fries that came with this dish. The glass of Sauvignon blanc I had was great, and a hefty pour. I could not drink the tap water, it tasted so badly. We were full and decided not to order a pasta dish after the experience we had. However, I was looking forward to trying the shrimp. I believe they have happy hour, as well, but we arrived soon afterwards so I'm not sure what it entails. I'm not sure if we will come back to try it. With so many Italian restaurants in Cranston, they may want to work on the service, as the food was great. read more

Solid classic American-Italian fare at moderate prices. I enjoyed the Eggplant Parmesan ($22) which came with soup or a side salad and a side of pasta or potatoes & veggies. The salad was basic but cold & crisp. Dressing was served on the side, which I appreciate. The eggplant was tender with a tasty gravy. The pasta was fine. I ordered a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon for $10 which was a decent sized pour. The complimentary bread basket came with butter but you can ask for olive oil if you prefer. Nothing fancy here but the the service & food is good. Plenty of leftovers to bring home for another meal. read more

Heard positive feedback about the food here. It was ok. Had the Sunday gravy and bolognese. However while eating found and inch 1/2 piece of metal in my food. When I called the manager said she would call back after telling her what happen and kept the piece to bring by. Never received a call back. That pretty poor management. UPDATE: The 3 stars is only for our most recent visit. A few days ago we visited and I was taken aback by how much the Eggplant Parmesan has changed. As you can see by the picture, it is so much thicker and seems a little more heavily breaded. Because it's thicker, it takes longer to cook...and it seemed a little chewy and undercooked. The Chicken Parmesan, as always, was wonderful. The Sole Francaise (they are always very nice to put Capers on it for us) was, for the first time, only decent. Cucina Rustica never misses. They have the best handmade fresh pasta and chicken parm! The ambiance is lovely for a date night, anniversary, birthday or any other special occasion. You can get multiple meals out of one entree. They use fresh ingredients, so although Italian food can lean on the heavier side, you won't feel disgusting afterwards. Their dirty martinis are no joke! Their parking lot is on the tighter side, especially during peak dining hours, so plan accordingly! Friendly staff and we have always felt welcome. read more

I attended a baby shower here and it was great. Food was good, everything was set up nice.

This place was soooo disappointing. The Calamari was all stuck together.. pasta was served in a ball with very little sauce and it was all stuck together. Had to ask for grated cheese, service was not great at all. I honestly would not recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

As always, the ambiance at Cucina Rustica is special and enjoyable. Our group of 8 was pleased. The special dinner menu is perfect with great selections for each of the main courses. Salads are always fresh and tasty as are the soups. Everyone who had a pasta dish was thrilled with it particularly with the Chicken Parm and the Chicken Marsala. The Food was fantastic. Chicken Piccata one of the best we have ever had. The veal parm was large-crisp--with a delicious marinara. With pasta. Clams with linguini -excellent. Came back today for "buck a shuck" to find out oysters are $1.50? (That's $6 more a dozen--sayin.) This place has the potential of being our new "Go -to"! read more

Went to Cucina Rustica for lunch with my sister and mother. We had a wonderful time there. We all loved what we ordered: linguine with clam sauce, shrimp scampi and a veal Parmesan sandwich. The veal was probably the best veal parm sandwich I ever had: extremely tender and flavorful. My mom and sister loved their pasta dishes. Pasta is home made and it shows. They both also appreciated being able to get smaller portions: perfect for lunch. My sandwich was so big, I had it again later for supper. It was still excellent. I ordered a pizza with brussels sprouts, goat cheese, pancetta, and red onions. The brussels sprouts were just cut, raw and on the pizza, thrown in the oven and cooked. She made our evening so special and went above and beyond to make sure every request was fulfilled. Visited for a friends retirement party. They were amazing at accommodating us. The staff was so kind and worked diligently to keep our drinks and bellies full. I had the carmina to drink which was essentially an aperol spritz. I wasn't a fan as it was incredibly bitter but drank it anyway. Everything was delicious except my friends Kale ceasar salad that was romaine instead and very fishy. They kindly removed from the bill as it hadn't been touched and she really didn't enjoy it. I ordered the Alforno which is a chopped chicken cutlet baked with fresh pasta in a vodka sauce with lots of cheese. I wish it had more sauce to be honest because I love sauce but this is a preference. It's was very delicious and enough to bring home for lunch the next day. Prices are reasonable however my friend got the eggplant ravioli and was still hungry. I think there was maybe 5 ravioli on the plate and was $24.A few friends had a lemon martini that was strong and delicious. It was fresh pasta but still a bit stingy on the portion. They finish the meal by offering some complimentary sambuca or amaretto to cleanse the palate and aid in digestion. I thought it was a really nice touch. I ordered the blackened salmon with the Brussels and sweet potato hash as well as my friend Kathy...we both gave it a 10+ Our spouses ordered chicken parm and veal Marsala which they also thought was great. We've been here a couple of times over the last year. The first time we didn't even try because the line was out into the street. Obviously a sign of something good going on. After that, we made sure to go on less popular nights. The food is always delicious. The giant meatball makes a delicious appetizer. We weren't fans of the Sangria when we had it at our first visit, but maybe it was an off night. We also have had the espresso martini, and that's perfect. On our second visit, my boyfriend had a problem with his meal. Without a fuss, we informed our waiter, just so they would be aware of the problem and be able to prevent it in the future. The cook came right out to find out what happened and was quick to make things right. The desserts are amazing, so definitely save some room for that! read more

I was very pleased with everything from ambiance to the food served. Bathrooms were clean and place was well lit but warm. Black linens and chicken parm was fabulous! Pasta was amazing! Great sauce! Bread could be warm but the butter was soft sweet butter cream. I had a grey goose vodka martini and it was great they served with blue cheese olives!
