    I was in Providence for work and was craving Italian food for dinner, so I asked the hotel shuttle driver for the best Italian food in town and she didn't even hesitate--she took me straight to Cassarino's. Let me tell you, the locals know! As soon as I walked into the restaurant I could small delicious food! I wound up ordering their special, which was homemade rigatoni in a creamy pesto sauce with chicken, fresh tomatoes and broccoli all topped with shaved parmigiana and fresh basil. This was the very first time I was served a meal in a restaurant that was so hot and fresh I had to take my time to eat it. And the portion size was hearty; enough for two meals! By the way, the bread here is superb! It had the best golden brown crust--nice and thick--and the inside of the bread was soft and warm. I was in heaven! I thought it had a classic atmosphere that wasn't pretentious, yet it could be perfect for date night or out with friends. It's hard to describe, but just felt comfortable. Finally, I thought the service was excellent. My server was upbeat and checked back with me regularly. Loved this place and hope to get back some day!

    Food was fantastic I got the braciolla and my wife got the chicken parm. We got the stuffed mushrooms for a starter. Service was A little slow but we were in no rush. This was my first time there I will be back. Was a little confused on ambiance. Sort of a cross between high end and ready for the PC game. Oh well

    Tiramisu, creme brûlée and cannoli, all part of the trio sampler! Light, creamy and the perfect amount of sweet w/o being overbearing.

    Where do I start with this review without salivating? The Federal Hill area in Providence is well-known for its contribution to the food scene here in the Ocean State, and Cassarino's changed my impression of pasta and Italian food as a whole. My friend and I wanted to celebrate our recent graduation with a night out. We started with bread and irresistible dipping oil, followed by my chicken escarole soup, perfect for a cold night. My selection was hearty, with ample chunks of tender chicken and a broth that complements it oh so well. Moving on to the main entrée, I had the rigatoni bolognese, a pasta dish generously topped with a traditional meat sauce composed of veal, pork, and beef. This tomato-based sauce had the perfect amount of seasoning and thickness to pair with the noodles. I love everything about it and could very much make it my entire personality. Generally, I always answer "yes" when asked, "Do you have room for dessert?" Yet, I shy away from picking something off the sweets menu because: A. Everything sounds great, and I'm indecisive. B. I'm afraid the portions are too big. C. I want to share something with someone, but we have different tastes when it comes to dessert. The trio sampler of mini sweets, tiramisu, crème brûlée, and cannoli, was the answer to all my problems. Each option had the perfect amount of sweetness, just enough that it wasn't overbearing on the tongue. Though I'm a sucker for all three (with crème brûlée holding a special place in my heart), the light tiramisu takes the cake for this foodie. The ambiance was great, with second-floor seating that overlooks the Federal Hills street. If you're looking for a cozy, upscale and romantic outing for the night, this spot would totally give that vibe. I've been meaning to return since my first experience because the bolognese is really worth raving about (ask my circle, I haven't shut up about it since!). Cassarino's, your 11/10 and five-star review is very well deserved. I'll be back, and that's a promise!

    This is the dinner chicken marsala. Plate had penne, chicken, mushrooms, peppers, spinach, prosciutto, and a good sauce. The food was a huge portion and not so expensive. We went during dinner time and they were pretty busy. The restaurant itself is a bit crowded and small, at least in the section we were in. Service was quick for how big the party was!

    Even a frugal financial mutant in training such as myself who doesn't venture out as much as many others here probably do knows that finding a restaurant firing on all cylinders can be quite rare these days. And yet Cassarino's manages to do so whilst making it look naturally effortless. Shout out to my outta town gal pal for recommending this shiny beacon of a restaurant as our super chill friendly send off dinner for one another. Ya see, my friend was in the mood for authentic Italian cuisine. After much deliberation, we settled on this place. And we're glad we did...even IF their portions can be rather enormous for the modest eater. Plus, it doesn't help that my friend eats like a bird, even whilst preggers. But....that's really a minor point. If you scope their website and YP prior to visiting as I often do, you'll note they offer free valet. Okay...technically nothing is free. But at least you don't pay extra for the valet service. Just be sure to arrive with cash for tipping because these guys definitely deserve one. Easiest way to take advantage of this is to arrive on the same side of the road the restaurant is on so that you may pull directly into the valet lane. If you see a dude with dark glasses approach your vehicle, you have just met your valet driver for the evening (it's not as ominous as it sounds). Hand them the keys, remove any valuables you have, then they take it from there. Immediately upon walking in, you'll spot their WiFi password on the hostess' desk; which, despite taking care to snap a quick pick for reference, I instantly forgot to bother using upon sitting at our table. XD That's probably because we both were hella distracted by the stellar waiter service, immaculate restaurant decor, and stunning food bestowed before our very eyes. The cuisine here can best be described as casual fine dining. For starters, we had the Aracini (or risotto balls for us non-Italians). Crispy on the outside, creamy and saucy on the inside. These pair perfectly with their homemade marinara sauce. But be forewarned: these babies are HUUUUGE!! I'm used to seeing these the size of your average meatball. These were about 3 times bigger. We each ate one, seeing as we still had main courses coming. 9 out of 10, totally worth taking home whatever you can't finish. The bread with garlic oil was a nice addition, too. It was reminiscent of what you'd get from the Macaroni Grill, only executed way better. The oil seasons the bread adequately. With that out of the way, we gotta talk about the Cassarino Burger I got. Now, reading the ingredients to this thing had my initial doubts. Then I reminded myself that was probably just my culinary anxiety talking and that I should simply take a chance on this thing. OH EMM GEE, does this dish ever slap! The fact that all the ingredients work in a perfectly harmonized synergy to the point where no element ends up dominating the palate, yet is still packed full of flavor is just....*mwah*...chef's kiss! To better understand this, I must take you through my bizarre thought process. See, I was worried that maybe the sweet onions and balsamic reduction would make the burger taste "off", since I'm not usually a fan of sweet and savory flavors being mixed together. However, one bite of this 10 ounce monster (yeah, more than half a pound) told me these chefs knew precisely what they were doing. Firstly, the burger itself was both seasoned and cooked to perfection! It even had a nice charred sear which added that final layer of flavor we come to love as grill masters. Second, they topped it off with crumbled Gorgonzola cheese. This offered a potency which was then slightly offset by the sweet onion and balsamic mentioned earlier. Cap it all off with a toasted bun and crispy hickory smoked bacon and you've got yourself a legit upscale burger that isn't pretentiously priced. Believe me when I tell you....this was easily worth the price! Granted, the fries were slightly overcooked, but still mostly edible. I suppose I could have swapped them out for the redskin mash or something, but....it didn't really ruin anything for me as is. 9 out of 10, would highly recommend. Overall, it was a lovely night with a grand time had by all. Hoping to check out more places around the Providence area in the coming months. Cassarino's Restaurant receives 5 ginormous burgers charred to perfection with an Italian twist out of 5.

    Overall, the service was great, friendly and quick. The restaurant is very clean. We started with the antipasto which was very large, displays a nice variety of cheeses, meats and sides and definitely feeds more than 2. For our entrees we enjoyed the clams zuppa and the fettucine carbonara. The tiramisu was fantastic.

    Once again, worthy of six stars. World class service by Damiani...world class food, enough for two portions of leftovers. Wildly reasonably priced. Best restaurant on Federal Hill no questions about it. Worthy of your Nona.

    Came in for dinner with a bunch of friends when someone was in town for the holidays. We had a reservation and they sat us on time. The food was amazing and the drinks were super tasty! Servers were very attentive. They do have valet parking and if it gets late, they pull your car up and give you the keys and take off. It was super convenient for us to go for another drink after they closed!

    Amazing tasting food and great portions! The staff were super friendly and the food came out fast. The only issue was valet parking, they didn't have a booth so we ended up just standing around the front of the restaurant waiting for the man to show up. When valet did finally come ask us if we were waiting for a car, he noticed he parked it right across the street and told us we could just walk ourselves.

For dessert we split a slice of limoncello cake. The cake was so light and fluffy it was like eating air. Even the frosting was light enough where it didn't feel like we were stuffing ourselves to finish it. It's a smaller place so it gets busy quickly and can be a little loud. I would highly recommended a reservation as I don't think you'd have much luck getting a table on a weekend. There was a bar area with some seats but it's probably not easy to get a seat there either. As the old adage goes, if a restaurant is full all the time there's a good reason why ;)

Our favorite drink for a night out is a dirty martini extra dirty. The martinis here are NEVER cold enough. They are legit luke warm. So we have learned to ask for them extra shaken here. Not only were our martinis still not cold, but they were clear aka not dirty. We sent them back based on the color and our server brought the same martinis back with a side of olive juice. After trying them with the extra juice they had a dirty water taste to them, almost like the ice used to shake them was dirty, which is ironic considering they were barely cold. I hate to do this but we sent them back again and let the server know they simply didn't taste good and also were not cold enough. He ended up going back and making them himself and they were much better but STILL. It shouldn't be this difficult for a bartender to make a very standard drink. The food unfortunately was also very mid. The table behind us actually sent their food back twice as well and the manager had to come over. It's also worth noting I put in the reservation it was my husband's birthday and there was no acknowledgement of it at all. This restaurant is meant to be a splurge for a nice dinner out and honestly was not up to par at all. $300 dinner for two and I was extremely disappointed. Honestly don't think we will be back.

They have a large case with ready to eat pasta, meatballs, cutlets, sides, etc. The pasta and cutlets are better than what you get at most similar markets. They make sandwiches. They sell specialty products like Olive Oil and vinegars. They sell a variety of ravioli and sauces to make at home. They have fresh bread. Venda Ravioli is a classic spot that has thrived for generations. Places like Venda Ravioli should be celebrated. 5 Stars

I am not one to complain, but I figured that other people who are interested in dining here should be aware of our experience. I thought the flavor of the food was good, but everything could've been warmer. It's was all cold or lukewarm at best. The best thing was the veal Parmesan. It had great flavor but the pasta underneath was lukewarm. We even asked for them to toast the bread and they just brought us another cold bread. The service was also not great. When checking in for our reservation at the bar, the hostess checked us in then disappeared for a while. Then the manager came by and rudely asked us to close the door, when there was absolutely nowhere to stand inside because it was packed and we were waiting on the hostess to figure out where our table was. Our server was nice but also not the most attentive. She was either in the other room with another server hugging on her and watching something on her phone or computer, or just simply couldn't be found. We even had to fill our own waters because we hadn't seen her in a while. The cherry on top is that there was a mouse running around inside the restaurant. We informed the server who immediately said she would comp our bill, which is much appreciated. Then the manager came to speak to us with attitude... "so you guys wanted to talk to me?" and "we had the doors to the outside open earlier so this kind of thing happens". No it doesn't. Everyone, including the manager, seemed to think it wasn't a big deal. It's a health code violation. We were grateful that they comped our bill, and some of us even went out of our way to tip the server via CashApp because we felt bad we couldn't do so on the bill. However, the lack of concern and understanding was appalling. At that point, the restaurant should stop everything they're doing to address the issue, but no. Servers continued to walk by the mouse and look at it and walk to the other room. It seemed like the manager was pissed that they had to comp the bill for us. Mind you, we never even asked for the bill to be comped, it was offered. The manager even said that the mouse "had been handled" and when he walked away it was still running around. None of the employees seemed to care. It made us seem like our reaction (which was calm and respectful) was invalid. That's not how you wanted to be treated as a customer. We all lost our appetite after that. I would avoid this place if you want good service and a rodent-free environment. I'm having a hard time understanding what the hype is about this place. If the manager was apologetic and understanding, then this may have been a different review. Only giving two stars for the flavor of the food.
