Another Saturday morning, another RI Food Fights adventure & this time the road led us straight to Uncle Mike's Diner in North Providence. We have been here several times & it feels like the kind of diner you grew up going to: cozy seating, familiar faces & that unmistakable "welcome home" energy the moment you walk through the door. For the #BestBreakfastSandwich, I ordered the grilled English muffin with sausage, American cheese & egg. Hubby selected the Western (ham, onions, peppers & cheese). We couldn't not order the absolutely delicious & HUGE side helping of home fries. The breakfast sandwiches were hearty & satisfying. You can tell they rely on fresh, local ingredients where they can because the flavors pop in that unpretentious, "this is real food" kind of way. The home fries had this gorgeous grilled crisp on top that made it impossible not to eat every single bite! The service was friendly & warm, where everyone seems happy to be there & they treat you like a regular, even if it is your first visit. My favorite part: when our lovely server came over with a to-go coffee container & said that it was part of the coffee service. Hubby was so happy! Just came in for breakfast. It's 9. Place is kinda busy. Very clean atmosphere, love the decor. The food came out fast and fresh. Potato was extra crispy, eggs were scrambled and light. Pleasantly surprised with this place! I wanted fish n chips during lent and saw on yelp that this place was good. We got fish n chips, a bowl of white chowder, and onion rings. I think the bill was like $25 for everything and it was all good too! The service was very quick and all of this was split between 2 people so a very good deal for your money. I have been here a couple of times and it never disappoints. Breakfast - lunch - dinner all day - can it get any better. I love the Uncle Mike's Biscuit and Gravy breakfast. It hits the spot every time. The waitress was by herself and she got a little busy - but she was still very attentive. It does need some music in the background because it gets quiet and you start listening to other people's conversations. I saw the pancakes on the grill and they are huge. So if you like pancakes def try these. The main attraction is the Sausage gray and Biscuits- it is just the right size- flavorful and accompanied by two eggs and homefries. Eggs were perfectly runny and the homfries were seasoned nicely cooked with a crisp. Overall this place continues to be one of my favorites. Again, really fantastic experience we got this sandwich passport today. We didn't get here for lunch because it's Sunday and they only have breakfast so we had the sausage egg and cheese sausage Patty is husband's favorite on white toast wasn't bad. I don't eat sausage myself, but he said it was very good. It was cooked well enough for him. We had the flavored coffee of the day was toasted. It was very good full of flavor not bitter, nice and strong the way I like it. He had a regular cup of coffee with milk. The server's name was. Samantha she was very upbeat and bubbly. She wasn't fully experienced with the passport, but she would readily admitted that and she was questionable. She asked questions. She was right on top of the serving came up with our coffee before even got comfortable and then she, I ended up ordering a dish of their homemade rice pudding. It was awesome. Just kinda like homemade rice could've been cooked a little bit more but other than that it was really good and the sandwich was OK. I myself don't normally eat white bread or sausage because it gives me a stomach ache. The husband ate so fast we didn't get a picture unfortunately so that will be for next time although you will use the pictures I think today I did. This is where the locals eat. Random diner search while visiting family in Providence and we lucked into Mike's Diner. It's small and cozy - 7'ish tables and bar seating. The owner and staff greeted most customers by name and knew their drink preferences already. Great first impression. Serving sizes are HUGE. No duds, everything was delicious. The coffee is fresh and spot on. The standout dish was the waffles. They are next level. They had a sweet little crunchy finish. Food is amazing, service is beyond attentive and warm, ambiance is inviting and casual. Restaurant is clean with attention to detail. Coffee is hot and fresh. They don't let your cup empty. The owner is so sweet and walks around giving all the kids lollipops. The pancakes are huge and so tasty. The breakfast sandwich on a croissant is probably one of the best I've ever had. It's huge! The home fries could be a little crispy. I ordered well done and they were in need of a little more time on the flat top. It was busy, so they probably didn't have enough time to wait for my potatoes to be extra crispy. That's my only complaint! I will come again. read more

I'm so excited this place was so packed! Late to the party I guess. I loved the last business in there and was sad to see it go, and I'm thrilled there's Uncle Mikes there now. My favorite go-to for a great breakfast with more than generous portions, so many menu choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For a diner, they have more menu choices than some restaurants! Great breakfast this morning and even met Uncle Mike who went to every table, welcoming them, passed out some lollipops and then gifted us each a big portion of his home made rice pudding, which was amazing! it was so friendly and just the whole experience was great! amazing. We love uncle mikes! Service is fast. There's so many options on the menu. The food is delicious. And you get giant portions for the price! The place was very busy when we went (on a Thursday). They have nightly specials and lots of seating. Most recently tried the tuna melt, mozzarella sticks and steak sandwich. The mozzarella sticks were HEAVENLY. My dining buddy didn't love the steak sandwich and also recognized it was a personal preference (she likes thinner slices vs one ribeye). Mikes still gave us a compliment dessert for the trouble! Cute place that we heard about through the RI Food Fight's Best Sandwich competition. While they do offer breakfast all day, we came for the sandwiches and decided on the French Onion Burger and the Reuben with onion rings. Both sandwiches were excellent. The corned beef was tender, the burger juicy with an abundance of melted cheese and sautéed onions. Looking forward to coming back for breakfast sometime soon. read more

My husband loves breakfast food so we're always looking for new places to try. Todays adventure brought us to Uncle Mike's Diner where they serve breakfast all day. Today we ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich, a ham, egg, and cheese on a crossant, the Irish Benedict, and a grilled cheese and fries. Visited here with #rifoodfights #bestbreakfastsandwich and was NOT disappointed. Staff was great, it really felt like an endless cup of coffee, and asks of you want one to go when you are leaving. Nice little diner ambiance inside. Oh yeah, the food. I had a western sandwich on a bagel, and a side of their corn beef hash. Sandwich was great, and what can i say about the hash!!!!!! Asked if I wanted it well done, like there is any other way? The cook knew what that meant and it had that layer of crunch that is expected. Went here for dinner on a Saturday night. We were the only ones in the place. Waitress said Saturday nights were always slow. But they are very busy in the mornings for breakfast, which, by the way, is served all day. Sunday is the only day they only serve breakfast. The place is really cute, painted in a bright red and is just cherry. They have specials everyday. Tonight, I had a chicken salad club. It came with steak fries and a pickle. So good, no onions!! My husband had meatloaf with mash potatoes and carrots. The potatoes were ok; he ate my fries!, and the carrots were not mushy, and a nice bright fresh looking orange. He liked the meatloaf, 2 small pieces covered in gravy. There may be should have been another small piece to make it worthwhile, along with a bit more gravy. Parking might be tough in the lot with two other businesses, but N Providence High School parking lot is just in the next lot. We'll be back next time we're looking for dinner comfort food! read more

Me and my brother went here September 1st for breakfast. We've never been there and frankly I've never even heard of it until the day before when my brother suggested it. I give the credit to my brother for finding this place. He did an incredible job. Uncle Mike's diner is not a stand alone diner, so it doesn't have the exterior appearance of a traditional diner. But on the inside, it's fun, lively and retro with a little bit of a modern twist to it. That's just my opinion on interpreting the atmosphere. So again, we went on a Thursday, we got there around 9:30 and it was just me and my brother; so two of us. We did have to wait like 15 mins which was surprising honestly... given the day and time. But hey, whatever, not a big deal. But to clarify, that was for a table. We could've sat at a booth instantly, but we preferred a table. So it was our choice to wait at the end of the day. Once we sat down, the service was quick quick quick!! The waitress we had, I don't know her name unfortunately, but she was incredibly friendly, came right over and asked if we wanted anything to drink. So I had a hot coffee and my brother had an iced coffee. The breakfast side of the menu isn't too big so that's always a plus. And honestly the prices are incredibly cheap! Relatively speaking comparing to other places along with the food quality too! It was top tier amazing! When me and my brother go out to a sit down restaurant, we like to get a variety of things. What did I get? Well, I got a 4 egg bacon and cheese omelet with home fries and an English muffin. The omelet was FILLED with bacon! Like it literally caught me off guard when I cut it open the first time. Also, I've never been asked before, but the waitress asked me if I wanted my home fries "well done". Which means extra crispy and blackened a little bit. Honestly, I don't think I'll go back from that! They were incredible!! The enough muffin too was grilled. Then again, delish! Then my brother got Uncle Mike's Biscuits and Gravy with scrambled eggs and home fries. I tried his, and again, it was so soooo good! Then to share we got one Pumpkin pancake, which was a healthy size pancake, which again was INCREDIBLE! It came with homemade cinnamon utter on top! And overall the pancake was so fluffy. We then got a bowl of oatmeal with brown sugar, which yeah, you could say it is just oatmeal, but it really was delicious oatmeal. Something I must note is that the waitress actually asked me and my brother if we wanted coffees to go after she already wrote up the check! My brother didn't get a coffee, but I got a large coffee to go free of charge! It was a nice surprise that I've never been offered at a breakfast restaurant. For all of that food, it was a total of $48ish dollars without tip. So really cheap! All in all, I highly highly recommend you check out Uncle Mike's Diner. It is the type of a place that you would just drive by because of where it is, but next time you go by it, I recommend you stop by and give it a try! It won't disappoint! read more

I've been stalking......errrr......following Mike whenever he opens a new restaurant because his food is delicious, the portions are HUGE, the prices are reasonable and the service is great! He's got a very large menu with lots of specials and I love how clean he and his amazing staff keep the entire restaurant. Can I also confess that I've got a secret crush on my favorite waitress, Kelsey? It's probably not a secret anymore....lol! I stopped by Uncle Mike's for the first time ever as part of the RI Food Fights Breakfast Sandwich event. It is a small diner, but there were a good number of tables and seats at the counter when I got there. I decided to get their sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich with their home fries. My server was very friendly and attentive. The food came out in no time and was absolutely delicious! The sandwich itself was filling and well worth the trip. We had 3 people in our party the day we went for lunch. Closest thing to a NY style diner here. It's not a very big place but they have utilized the space well. My daughter got the burger which came out great. I got a burger with onion rings. My friend got house salad and one of the melt sandwiches. The staff was very friendly and the food came out hot. You can actually see into kitchen area while they are cooking. They had desserts but we were so full we didn't get to try anything. It seems to be a family tan business. ordered eggplant parmesan sandwich. they didnt have it. so chicken Parmesan sandwich it was. the chicken was mostly breaded - unseasoned - without any red sauce- over cooked and dry - bread was dry. Disgusting. Fries looked ok but also unseasoned and just dry - hard to swallow. 38$ for 2 meals. it was awful. we will never go back. read more

Stopped in for #RIFoodFights #BestSandwichRI and tried the Chicken Salad Sandwich... the sandwich was a classic diner style chicken salad, without a lot of mayo, but moist using dark meat, so not dry whatsoever. I would order this sandwich again. Service was as expected and attentive to ordering, no complaints here. I did order a side of fries that I had to pick through to get ones that were cooked, and I gave up a little before half way... they are steak fries, so different amounts of wellness is to be expected, but I eat my steaks rare, not my fries... many were soft, still white on the outside with only the edges lightly golden, and pasty middles. I would not recommend getting fries, unless I just happened to get them rushed, but there were only a few patrons in the diner, so I don't know what the rush would have been. The speed of service was also excellent. I like sitting at a diner bar, and this diner has a large eating bar that would make me feel comfortable knowing there is an available seat on a lunch break or before work breakfast. read more
