My daughter lives in Providence and we decided to try the diner for breakfast. Well, we have found our breakfast spot. Nothing like an old school no frills diner. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive. The pancakes were a nice size and delicious. My bacon arrived well done as requested. The coffee was nice and hot. The first thing noticeable was that the restaurant was unkept. Torn and worn furniture literally held together by gray construction tape. There is a difference between a place being retro in appearance and it being shabby. Geneva is shabby. There was one waitress on duty and her service was okay. The food was okay, but the prices were high. A breakfast burrito cost $10.95. The price wouldn't have mattered if the burrito was outstanding. It was mediocre at best. I ordered eggs, home fries, corned beef hash and toast which cost approximately $12.00. Two coffees were $5.00. Along with tip the total was over $32.00. In conclusion, the location is fantastic for the residents of North Providence and the surrounding area. Geneva has the potential to be an outstanding restaurant, but it's owner(s) need to invest in some serious upgrades to it. I don't mind paying high prices for a fantastic eating experience. In this case those expectations fell flat. One last thing. It appears that the owners did invest in a top quality computerized cash register. Hopefully they will have the same incentive to polish their diamond in the rough. read more

If you want to feel like you are in your mom's kitchen, Geneva Diner is the place to go. I have been coming here regularly since Chris became the new owner. It's like walking into my very own "cheers" and everyone says hello regardless of knowing each other or not. The food is made to order and always prepared perfectly. The servers talk to people like they're family and are never rude or dismissive. I'm super picky and I am never disappointed. We have driven by this place a million times & never went in until about 2 weeks ago. The place definitely has a mom & pop vibe. Menu is simple diner fare, very reasonably priced. Food is pretty good. I really enjoyed their pancakes, which is saying something because I rarely eat pancakes. And make are to ask for their homemade jam for your toast...yummy, yummy! I've only had breakfast here, so can't steak to the rest of the menu. What really makes this place for us is the owner...hence the 4 stars. What a friendly, genuinely nice guy! Our first time visiting today. Menu was good sized and fairly priced. The French toast was delicious. Our waitress was friendly and kept up with all the tables. Loved the bacon being crispy and the sausage links being perfectly grilled. They offer cans of soda with many flavors to choose from. My hubby loved the coffee milk and my stepson enjoyed his milkshake. We all left stuffed for $38 before tip. Will definitely return with it being down the street from our new house. read more

We were in Providence visiting friends and had some time to stop for breakfast before our visit. Stumbled across this little place and were very happy with our choices. I had an omelet called the Vegan's Nightmare! How could you not order that! It was excellent and had everything in it but the kitchen sink.... Soo good! My wife had the steak & eggs which was very good and my daughter had a shrimp & spinach salad which was also excellent! The breakfast plates came with well seasoned potatoes and choice of breads. Don't be fooled by the small size and older decor.... The food was excellent and the staff was friendly and attentive! We will be back here on our next trip! read more

Ok -- first things first. As soon as I walked in some guy shouted across the counter "you wanna a coffee?" YES was my response. I liked the initiative and leadership and simply asking immediately when I entered. Although sadly I wished the nuance of the coffee matched the passion of gentlemen behind the counter. I ordered breakfast - I like breakfast. The bacon was the highlight of the dish - the eggs were overdone and quite small - and the potatoes were fine. I have 3-4 other breakfast nooks that I would chosen over Genevas. It's lackluster -- nothing stood out about this one....except the guy with the passion to serve coffee. read more

SCORE!! Sorry for the sports reference, but this place is definitely a homerun! The other reviewers who gave them a one star and said their portions were small are nuts!!! The portions are medium to large and the prices are super cheap!! This is a diner and the food is exactly that, simple, tasty and fun. They even made a custom grinder for us. We ordered 7 things and the bill was under $30!! We were touring Brown University and wanted to checkout an old school diner. We took an Uber (thank you Rawl) from BU and arrived at this cute little diner on Douglas Ave in North Providence. You could tell the diner had been owned by many generations of the same family. They had different dishes named after family members and friends. The place had so many tasty treats that we just kept ordering, lol!! We had a bowl of clam chowder, an egg white omelette, Fish and chips with tomato sauce, a waffle, a side of bacon and a bunch of cookies and took an Italian sub back to our hotel room! We could have had more, but we were entering into what seemed to be the first stages of a food coma. This was the perfect way to wrap up our east coast trip. Fiancé and I went this morning. I got the vegan's nightmare which is a giant omelet, loaded with sausage, Linguica, pepperoni, and steak. Home fries and choice of toast or English muffin. It was delicious, served hot and fast off the flat top which is out in plain view. The cook was awesome with great skills and a friendly persona. My fiancé got a #2, which is two eggs any style, home fries, choice of meat, she got sausage links and choice of toast or muffin. She loved it. She also said it was the best fresh brewed coffee she had ever had. The server was friendly, attentive and fast. The interior is dated and deceptive from outside being a brick building. But it was clean and comfortable with booths and a long breakfast counter. I watched the cook make pancakes and French toast on the flat top. They were large portions and the pancakes looked light and golden brown. It was the size of a dinner plate. I admit I was upset because I wanted one badly and am a diabetic. Great experience. This is an adorable little diner that serves up casual, inexpensive breakfast and lunch. The counter folks were super friendly and welcoming. You can tell it's a place with mostly regulars, but you don't feel snubbed if you're a newbie. The bacon was crispy and delicious, which is an important test of quality for me! Family run and operated (Mario is a great host and incredible cook), the food is always fresh and the prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. Hidden gem in North Providence! The staff is VERY friendly, I ordered take out, a large take out order to be specific a half hour before they closed and everything was perfect! I've gotten some amazing food from this place. Mario makes an amazing pasta and beans... Just like grandma use to make it.. I think the prices are decent... service is pretty nice.. it's a nice cozy feeling when you walk in and the staff knows what you usually order and drink... ONLY downfall is the cook isn't to swift on changing gloves from handling raw meat and then goes to something else... that's kind of gross.. Delicious! I got the number 2 and had plenty of food. I would go back just to become friends with the owner. He was the nicest man I've ever had wait me at a breakfast place. I also loved that this establishment has been around since at least 1954 ( according to one picture hanging on the wall), which is just a testament to how good this place really is. They also had a variety of food options- a bacon wrapped, deep fried hot Dog for one or the meat lovers Omelet that had bacon, ham, linguisa, steak, and sausage! This place is UNREAL. Very classic, quaint diner with incredibly fast and friendly service. I swear this is some of the best food I have ever eaten. I ordered a waffle and bacon and they were both incredible. My dad ordered a grinder and an omelette, both of which he loved. This place makes me sad to live 3000 miles away. read more
