Shannon's place has the BEST home fries! They are well seasoned and are very generous with the portions. The service is a little on the slower side but when you have great food and great staff the wait is all worth it. Inside sitting is very "cozy" but as soon you come in you smell the coffee brewing, and the staff always makes sure you're coffee is always full which I loved! Street parking only and cash only. Touch parking on a Sunday morning around 9am. But we were persistent. Super simple inside. Really brings me back to my childhood and going to Pawtucket breakfast spots with my Dad on weekends. Immediately I thought yes- reasonable breakfast prices! 2 eggs, toast and home fries $5. The equivalent to the $1.99 breakfast that was forever a Pawtucket staple. I would consider this the new bar. I did add bacon which came out super crispy- love it! I did ask for half an order of home fries which was perfect for me. I did love all the little crunchies in there. I like their home fry game here. My son had a banana pancake. A small she stated- It was as big as the plate and cost $2! I can share the waitress was very nice and I paid attention to her interactions with other patrons. They have a sign that referred to entering as a stranger but leaving as a friend. I can share they seam like they mean it here. Several months ago we found Shannon's and we've been going regularly ever since for Sunday breakfast. I'm sure that many other reviews have already told you how good the breakfasts are and what a good value they are as well. But today I stopped in for lunch with a friend and I decided to go for a lunch plate. For one thing, they have a great selection of plates compared to other diners. At least a dozen choices. I went for the classic diner meatloaf which I consider to be as good a measure of a homestyle restaurant as you can get. Well, let me tell you, it was a treat! A huge portion of nice classic meatloaf with no wierd surprises... just good dense and meaty goodness made even better by spending a little time geting burned on the griddle. The huge blob of homemade potatoes also got a little griddle time leaving some pleasing burnt spots here and there. And the broccoli, which they prepare chopped and seasoned was fresh and retained a nice al dente crunch (not bland and boiled to within an inch of it's life like you usually get). The brown gravy was rich and generously slathered and loaded with fresh mushrooms. Honestly, I can't say that I've ever had better. With cooking like that, I'll bet that Shannon's hubby is rocking a pretty impressive gut! I've got a pretty good appetite but there was no way I could finish this portion. I packed up a third but seriously, I should have packed half or more. And the price... under $8 as I recall (and that was pretty much the most expensive thing they offered). Place is cozy and cute. Kept pretty clean... even the bathroom. And the wait staff is pleasant and attentive. I'm going to declare Shannon's an (un)official Pawtucket "Hidden Gem" (and if you read my other reviews you'll see that I'm usually a tough grader). Go there and I bet you will too. Unfortunately I was incredibly disappointed after breakfast here, so much so that I didn't eat my meal and left hungry. I came in and asked for a coffee. I noticed once I added my cream and sugar there was something blue floating in my coffee... I politely asked for a fresh cup from a server walking by and I received a nasty look and an unwanted attitude. I let it go. I needed to use the restroom and wash my hands, the bathroom was so disgusting I walked in and walked right back out. Despite my better judgement, I still ordered breakfast as I was starving. I forget what I ordered but it came with toast.... MOLDY toast. That was the final straw. I didn't eat my meal, paid my bill and left. I will never ever go there again and I hope this review prevents others from going there, too. I picked this spot because of all of the great reviews it had. They are false. read more

I thought we'd found our breakfast spot. One spoiled English muffin changed my opinion forever.   Shannon's seemed to have it all. Quick, friendly, service; Excellent prices; large portions, delicious food.   The two of us ate a spectacular amount of food for under $20.   I especially liked the 2x4. Bacon, sausage, eggs and pancakes or French toast, with home fries and toast.   You could specify whether or not you wanted onions in your home fries too. The home fries themselves are  firm, but not mushy or charred like in some places.   They also offered a bacon cheeseburger omelet (beef, bacon, cheese, mushrooms) and a "garbage omelet" which included a bit of everything.   The servers were exceptionally attentive. I drink decaf, and every time we went, the server remembered to bring decaf for me when refilling my cup without my asking twice.   The last time we went, my wife ordered a sausage egg and cheese on a toasted English muffin. Even though the server confirmed that the muffin was to be toasted, this wasn't done.   Her sandwich arrived open faced, with the sausage egg and cheese on the bottom half of the muffin, and the top half of the muffin face-up on the plate.   She ate some of the bottom half, and then flipped the top half of the muffin onto her sandwich.   Green mold covered the other side of the top muffin.   If they had toasted the muffin before plating it, they would have seen the mold.     The server apologized and took the plate back to show someone behind the kitchen, who responded with a shriek of "OMG!"   The server apologized profusely, and Shannon's did not charge us.   I understand that mistakes happen and that there's a first time for everything....   But if they missed an extremely moldy English muffin, what else are they missing?   I really liked Shannon's. I love "greasy spoon" types of places for the same reason that I tend to like dive bars. They are a folk art version of eating and drinking that really captures the social underpinnings of any given community. I hail from the Chicago suburbs. In this environment, certified organic [insert food here] and other associated marketing hang ups rule the day for the pretentious and wannabe sophisticated. Since I work in advertising I am glad the public is so easy to manipulate, but It is also quite depressing in many respects. When looked upon from this context, I actually NEED places like this to give me some assurance that all hope for the future of humanity is not lost. I travel to New England A LOT for business. I have been to every state with the exception of Maine. One of my clients in Pawtucket who knows my taste in food recommended this place, and he hit the center of the bullseye with this recommendation.Thus far, only a place called the Mad Hatter in Weymouth, Mass tops Shannon's in traditional diner fare. The interior of this place is about what you would expect. Old School, rustic, and likely unchanged in most respects since the day they first opened their doors for business. It was also VERY busy to put it mildly. People were waiting by the front door, and the second someone left the table was cleaned and wiped off in a matter of seconds and a new crop of customers plopped down to take their place. Menu options are typical for establishments of this type, and daily specials are also available which the wait staff will spout off to you like they are reciting the pledge of allegiance when they stop by to see if you want coffee while looking over the menu.The coffee here, by the way, is VERY strong. It would awaken someone from a coma, which is also quite characteristic of New England just in general. They love their coffee here. There is a Dunkin Doughnuts franchise about every 10 blocks in most parts of New England it seems like. You have all the essentials for breakfast represented here: Belgian waffles, omelets, eggs combos, pancakes, french toast, etc. If you can't find something to get into here, then there is something seriously wrong with you. The hash browns they serve here are especially wonderful. Nice and crispy on the outside yet also moist and salty to contrast with the eggs. Yum! I ate ravenously. While we were here to have breakfast, I can imagine this place would be like nectar from the gods at like 2 AM after a night of pounding down beer and shots. The service here was rapid and attentive. The waitress did not have much time for idle chit chat since the place was so busy. Nonetheless I had my plate of food sitting in front of me within about 15 min of placing my order at the table. Keep in mind that this place is cash only, so make sure to hit the ATM before stopping by. Also be aware that since it is really busy that the earlier you get here the better. Stopped here for breakfast before heading back to NH, and sincerely wish this place was in my neighborhood. Enormous portions for the price, hot and fresh. Eggs, toast, bacon, and terrific home fries, including coffee, $5.75. Yes, you read that correctly. $5.75. The food was standard, but it was carefully prepared. The place was typical corner diner, but impeccably clean and the waitress was delightful. The locals talk about this place and only have good things to say. Late this morning we decided to do the walk and find it. It is on the corner of Benefit and Broadway and looks like a hole in the wall. Nice counter and about a dozen tables. The customers are from suits to blue collar. I got a lesson on heating during my breakfast from the next table. The loss leader on the menu is home fries, two eggs and coffee for three bucks. The home fries are easily within the top 5 I have ever had and there were plenty. The coffee is good as well. The service was top notch and the place had a few newspapers floating around. There are two tv's above the counter. A must visit when in the area. on a side note, the bus for the Emerald Square Mall leaves from across the street to the left. read more

Tiny little restaurant with good service, good food and good prices. That's not as easy as it sounds. We went for breakfast and I will definitely be going back. Especially for the unbelievably good banana pancakes: the size of a dinner plate (I got two and brought 1 1/2 of them home), but fluffy and scrumptious. My partner got eggs and turkey bacon which vanished quickly -- the coffee was good and plentiful (and comes free with many of the breakfasts). Overall, a winner. read more

I moved to Central Falls recently and I am always on the lookout for a great diner. This place is right on the RI-MA border and the small store front is easy to miss. But the waitress told me they have been here for years. I visited on Sunday and almost every seat was filled. The place is clean and waitresses could not have been nicer. One problem was that Franks Red Hot Sauce was the only hot sauce, no Tabasco. Frank's kills home fries and anything in its path in an instance. Went this morning after calling to place the order. I did not ask for the total before hanging up. I thought it would be around $20. I went in and the total was $31.50. I asked if the 2 eggs, home fries, and toast was rung up as a breakfast special. She told me that is was correct price for a 4 person breakfast at $6.50 each special. I asked how is that possible if the 2 egg special is less than $6.50. I was so frustrated I said here handed my card, she looked at me with a smirk and said we only take cash the atm is behind you.
