We were the first to arrive at this small, off-the-beaten-track restaurant. We found it on Yelp, it had great reviews, and an interesting menu. It's a little over a mile from Down City Providence and about the same distance from Federal Hill. It's located in a quiet neighborhood and has a small parking lot on the side of the restaurant and plenty of street parking. The restaurant has a local family feel to it; we liked the atmosphere. We were greeted by Armando, the owner and chef. He provided background information about his new restaurant and his experience as a chef in the Providence area. He also explained that the Porchetta was homemade and that he'd cook anything on the menu to our exact specifications. He'd create a dish, sandwich, combine different plates, etc. Our party of four ordered: * Porchetta & Eggs with Breakfast Potatoes $15 * French Toast with Strawberries and Whipped Cream $12 * Omelet with Breakfast Potatoes $10 * Chicken Cutlet Sandwich $16 I ordered the Porchetta & Eggs, and requested the eggs be prepared as an omelet. This dish was very tasty and nicely prepared. I also tried the fried chicken cutlet, which was hot, tasty and nicely executed. All plates were completely consumed, and all diners agreed the food was excellent. Our brunch was only $78 with tip, we thought the prices were very reasonable and the meal a great value. We look forward to our return!

Best bite ever. From the first taste of the special duck filled ravioli, slivered apples and jam was an ascent to heaven! It knocked me back in my chair it was that tasty!! Ahhhh My friends and I enjoyed a three hour dining experience with satisfying cocktails, appetizers and desserts. It's an intimate venue with excellent service.

During Splendor of Florence's Sott'Acqua Festival: A Tale of Two Cities Underwater from November 9-17, 2024, local chef Armando Bisceglia's new restaurant Dolce & Salato did a pop-up in the old Tilden-Thurber Building on Westminster Street that used to be the home of Yoleni's. There were rustic and elegant décor like statues and sculptures in Florence that brings an old-world feel to the dining experience. Also, a special wine window was available outside with an area with a few cocktail tables. The charm of a wine window evokes nostalgia of old Florence and in the way it reflects Florence's deep-rooted wine culture. I made a reservation through OpenTable for a table for 2 on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 5:30 pm. We arrived a little earlier, but were greeted by the host and seated right away. An authentic Tuscan menu was featured. A plate of bread in olive oil was brought to our table. The server was very friendly and asked for us to order appetizer, entrée, and dessert at one time. I ordered the gnocchi al tartufo and my husband had the ossobuco di maiale. The gnocchi was in a very creamy sauce and there were pieces of truffle. It was very good. The ossobuco di maiale was a huge piece of pork shank with carrots, celery, onion, potato, and vegetables. My husband enjoyed the ossobuco very much; it was so tender. For dessert, we shared the classic tiramisu. The tiramisu was light, fluffy, and no components were overpowering. I also had a glass of the Rossino Prosecco and it was such a great pairing. Overall, great food and a great night. I felt like I was in Florence with the overhead music, decor, food, wine, and service. I can't wait to visit Dolce & Salato soon.

I have to admit that I intended to write this review months ago. Since then my impressions have only been reinforced. I had relatively high expectations when I first visited this restaurant. They were and continue to be met. The menu is authentic and very tasty (subjective, I know). The "vibe" is classy Italian. It's small enough to feel like your family is doing the cooking. (I only wish my family could cook this well.) I've enjoyed about 40% of the menu and many of the specials and have never been disappointed. I especially like Wednesday specials (I'll let you figure out why.) Armando and Mario are fantastic personalities that you should meet. This is a great date-night place for your first experience. After that you may become a regular.

I was recommended to go here for authentic Italian cuisine vs Italian American ... nothing wrong with that but having been to Napoli last summer, this was and intriguing suggestion. The restaurant is small, quaint, and very welcoming. It's a husband and wife run restaurant with authentic family recipes. If you enjoy Italian wine, you have to come here! I had the ribeye with pasta and had the best wine selections ever! But wait... there's more! Dessert! I had the Italian bread pudding almond based if I recall.

Hands down, some of the best brunch I've had recently! They use the freshest ingredients with the 3 course breakfast and make sure each dish is done the right way. The specialty iced coffee made with love & ricotta & pear crostini was especially memorable & a Must try! This restaurant strikes the perfect balance between chic and cozy. The ambiance is trendy yet comfortable, making it ideal for intimate dinners and lively gatherings. The owner/chef as well as waitstaff was top-notch. Highly recommend! #brunchwiththeitalians

The staff at Sapphire (Melissa, Marc, & Shiv), as well as the guest bartender (Vannaluck), went above & beyond to make the experience interactive & memorable. We were greeted immediately with a French 75 made with cognac - Did you know that the original French 75 called for cognac, as well as many other classic cocktails? No? Neither did I. The welcome aperitif was a great lil' treat to kick the night off with. We were given a mini charcuterie selection to keep us busy until the main event, which began about 20 minutes after we arrived. Vannaluck talked us through the history & characteristics of cognac. We were given 3 small pours of different cognacs to taste as well as a serendipitous, bonus mini pour at the end. Throughout the night, the kitchen sent out a variety of tapas that UTILIZED COGNAC. Cognac glaze, reduction, brine, etc. Fascinating! I went in knowing next to nothing about cognac & left with a decent understanding of the spirit. I've always wanted to do something like this, & Sapphire made it extremely accessible. It was also amazingly affordable. I'm really looking forward to more events like this one. Sign me up, please.

The space itself is interesting -- I understand the location has even been used as a filming location for a movie -- and the coffee and food we had were both quite good. What stood out, unfortunately, was the atmosphere created by the staff. During my visit the café was less than half full, but employees were very actively directing where people could and could not sit in what otherwise appeared to be open seating. At one point I watched a staff member speak sharply to a customer while waving a sign that said "No laptops at the bar." The confusing part was that the customer didn't appear to have a laptop at all. The interaction felt unnecessarily confrontational and awkward to witness. Taken together, the tone of the staff came across as petty and uninviting, which really undermined what could otherwise be a pleasant place to stop for coffee. The drinks and food were good, but the atmosphere made the experience feel tense. Visitors may want to keep in mind that seating and house rules seem to be enforced quite strictly.

Early August, Sawyer's introduced Sawyer's Beach Service and since a group of 4 of us were heading to Easton's Beach on Saturday, I definitely wanted to order 2 of the Beach Service packages. The Summer Beach Service includes a basket for two packed with your choice of 2 salads or sandwiches, a large house lemonade or iced tea, chips, house pasta salad, cookies, and fresh fruit. It was very easy to use the Toast website to select the items and pickup date and time. On Saturday, August 23, 2025, I parked across the street from Sawyer's and headed in. There is plenty of street parking. Inside looks like an indoor farmer's market: the bakery case is loaded with sweets from NAVAD, potted flowers and greenery are displayed for sale on stools and antique ladders, woven baskets overflow with herbs. A cabinet is stocked with local coffee beans and tea, flour and oats from Maine Grains, a stack of cookbooks, and spices. A fridge is filled with Rhode Island milk, Maine butter, and fresh rhubarb. I informed the staff member that I was here to pickup my Beach Service basket and she told me to wait a few minutes since they were just finishing packing it up. The tote was packed to the brim. My tote had a Roast Beef, Horseradish, Blue Cheese on Baguette and Avocado, Arugula, Cucumber, Sundried Tomato, Pickled Onion on Multi Grain, Iced Black Tea, Chocolate Chip Cookies, chips, house pasta salad, and apples. The other tote had Turkey, Bacon, Sundried Tomato on County White and Mortadella, Mozzarella, Artichoke Pesto on Focaccia, watermelon lemonade, Chocolate Chip Cookies, chips, house pasta salad, and apples. Both totes had utensils and plastic cups with lids. We all absolutely enjoyed everything in the tote and couldn't finish everything at the beach. All the ingredients in the sandwiches and orzo salad were fresh and were very filling. The Douglas Sweets Chocolate Chip Shortbread cookies were so soft and delicious! The chips were North Fork Potato Chips and crispy. The Beach Service was definitely worth it and I will unquestionably get it again. I am looking forward to visiting Sawyer's again.

We were a party of three, but it could have been a party of six with all the food we ordered. We had the first reservation at 5 PM. We parked on the street, but you can park in the lot and they will validate your parking for you. The service was a 5/5 and the ambiance can be casual or fine dining. The lighting is perfect for a romantic night out and the view of the Providence River right over your shoulder. We made our own board: Umbriaco di Raboso "Drunken Cow" - amazing cheese, very high quality, sharp, not over powering. Definitely get it! Provolone - sharp very good quality provolone cheese Proscuitto di San Daniele - sliced very thin, soft and flavorful. I was very pleased with the portion size and the flavor. A must have! Spicy Olives - assorted olives with a spicy olive oil. All of the olives were fantastic and there definitely was a good kick from the spice. They threw in the pickles, jams, nuts and honey, all were fantastic. I really liked the blueberry jam. The warm tapas came out at all different times. Fried Bolognese olives - Although these were unique and delicious, I would skip these next time. The Bolognese is just a pinch on the inside of the olive. It would be a game changer if there was a side of Bolognese sauce to dip them in instead. Eggplant - Definitely a must order. Super simple sauce packed with flavor and the buffalo mozzarella is to die for. The pork belly is also a must order. Tons of flavor and not a lot of fat, which surprised me. It was a good sized portion too. Now of the the pizza...we ordered Pizza Salumi. Very thin dough, wood fired for the flavor and the crisp. There is a good amount of sauce, which can make the crust floppy, but it's so worth it! The flavor of the sauce is so good. All fresh and top quality ingredients. The soppressata was perfect, taking this pizza to the next the level. It was cut super thin, as it should, and gave the pizza the flavor a margarita is missing. It would be tough not to order this next time. So just as we should have been walking out of the door because we were so full, we had the duck and the wood fired NY strip to split among the three of us. The duck - The duck dish came with the two legs so it was the dark meat with crispy skin. The duck was flavorful, moist, tender, and had some sort of apple based sauce to accompany it. The mashed potatoes were great and the Gorgonzola chunks were a treat, especially while sipping the sangiovese/cab red wine blend that we ordered for the table. The NY Strip was my favorite. The steak was tender and came with the flavor from that wood fired grill. The sauce was so good that I dipped every piece in it, trying to reserve some for the mashed potatoes. I ordered the steak medium rare + and it came out just how I wanted it. We ordered the lemon tart for my mom's birthday dessert. I would skip the dessert next time, but I always skip dessert. My mother loved it...very fresh and vibrant. I would have to say that Bacaro is my favorite RI restaurant, especially for a special night out. It is also a perfect spot to go and grab a snack or two with friends after work with a drink. It is affordable as you want and can find high end alternatives as well. The bottle of wine was $48 and you couldn't have asked for a better pairing with all of the food. We also ordered an after dinner cocktail, called the Call to Italy...very refreshing for a digestive type cocktail.

Luckily we did make reservation for early dinner so we were able to find parking right away. We got there early so the restaurant wasn't open yet. We took a walk around the Westminster for a bit until the place was open. We were sat down right away. Inside is cozy with dim lights and open kitchen and some tables. They have few outside seating available as well. We started with some appetizer raw fish and combo as well as kohlrabi Caesar. We got black bass and a seasonal fish with combo that included lightly roasted oysters, shrimp and squid. All seafood was directly sourced from local port and fresh. Seafood appetizer was delicious. The caesar was interesting. I've never had kohlrabi but it reminded me of radish and it was tasty. Personally i would have preferred little less salt and olive oil so that flavor of the raw ingredient stand out more but was not too bad. My entree was the seafood risotto. Flavorful risotto with some seafood on top. Was a bit messy to eat because of the shells but was flavorful. The crab and shellfish itself was small and a bit underwhelming but the rice was rich and full of fish flavor. My mother had the cacio e Pepe which was good but she said that nothing comparable to one she had in Rome. I was not a huge fan of the thicker pasta but that's just is personal preference. Service was excellent but the table was a bit small and tight as we were very close to the next table and can hear what others are talking about so not a very privately setting. Overall i did like the place. Food and service were good. But it was not anything exceeding expectation and there were few things that detracted from our experience such as heavy seasonings, small dining space and etc... The price is quite expensive for the amount of food they serve as well. I think it's a good place for special occasions.
