We had an amazing Italian food and service experience today. We arrived without a reservation around 5:30 pm. The parking lot was quite full however, we were very happy to find tables were open on the veranda. There was a nice breeze and screens which made the space very comfortable. Matt the server was so very friendly and attentive. The portions were very ample and the quality of the food was excellent. Our party had eggplant, chicken parmigiana, lasagna, and scallops. Visited Marchetti's this week with a party of 18 and the service was absolutely outstanding. Lana was our server and I was super imoressed with how well she handled our large group. She treated each person with patience and respect, and most impressive of all, she remembered everyones orders without writing a single thing down! Our group was seated in a semi-private room very close to the entrance. This was perfect for us to be able to all converse. the food was delicious. I ordered a special, Pasta Rustica, which consisted of pasta with a pink sauce, proscuitto, chicken, and shrimp, topped with mozzarella. It was so incredibly delicious and the portion size was large enough that in addition to eating my fill at dinner, I also had enough to take home for two lunches. Did I mention the bread? Marchetti's has wonderful Italian bread - crusty on the outside and soft on the inside, and they pair it with garlic dipping oil. Yum! I consider Marchetti's to be a RI staple Italian joint known for their large portions and impeccable service. I've been a bunch of times and always leave full and satisfied. Their prices really can't be beaten for what you get and their drinks are a great value as well. We recently went for a birthday dinner and had a quintessential Marchetti's experience. The food was spot on with perfectly al dente pasta and tasty proteins. We all loved our meals and had plenty to take home and feed on for the next few days. The service was extremely friendly and efficient. They had 2 servers that between them checked on us every 5 mins for 1.5 hours. We never once had to wait for assistance. Only downsides are that we made a reservation and when we arrived they still had to put tables together which wasn't really a big deal, just defeated the purpose of a reservation. The tables they used were different shapes so it made seating a little awkward and spread us apart further than necessary which made communication difficult. We were also seated in an area that did not have climate control and it was an unusually hot day. The sun was blinding, even through the shades and it got so hot that it became a little uncomfortable. I felt badly for the waitresses as they looked really hot and the few small fans were not keeping up. Another awesome meal at Marchetti's in Cranston! We were here early without reservations on a Friday night, and for right in. Beer, wine and some salad with bread and a delicious dipping oil started us off. I ordered gnocchi with house red sauce. The gnocchi were on the specials page with pink vodka sauce, but there was no issue switching out the sauce. Pillowy deliciousness. My husband also had a special- Chicken Milano, with chicken, red roasted peppers, olives, mushrooms, spinach over pasta. This place is always busy, tables are not empty for long, and a reservation is necessary, especially on the weekend. Just a note: the parking lot is very tight with giant piles of snow that are going no where fast. People trying to back up because you can't actually drive around the piles, and could be tight with cars trying to make it to the back of the lot with no where to go. read more

I brought my brother here yesterday for his 60th Birthday. I did make reservations just to secure a table as this place is always full. We walked I. And were seated right away. I have never in my life been embarrassed in a family owned restaurant, that we have been going to and supporting for years. After waiting for over an hour with my 3 girls mind you, two of them are 2 and 5 and parents, the owner started yelling at us after my mother called him over. Hollering and yelling to get out. After the other general men was calling my other parents name. Yelling That she had an attitude. An attitude for waving at him?!? I was so embarrassed for the way we were treated and the way the owner acted so unprofessional. He has always treated us with respect and we always loved going there and supporting them. Even when ppl would bad mouth them I would stand up for them(I didn't need too but always did). I had two screaming and crying kids leaving there that had no idea what was going on except that, we just spent over an hour waiting and they were staving. This review is for the lobster roll only. Heard a lot of great things about this place and decided to give them a try. Drove up to their parking lot and it was full with lots of people waiting. I called in my order and was told it would take about 20-25 min. There's a window for take out orders so that's convenient. I paid and took it back to my car. I was surprised at how large it was. The lobster was all flaw and body meat there was no tail meat. Most of the lobster was cooked well with some over cooked pieces. The hoagie roll did not pair well with the lobster, too much chew took away from the delicate meat. Also, added was ritz cracker for some reason.
