Best of all, as a Cranston girl I love having more great restaurant options nearby rather than having to go to Providence or elsewhere to try new places. My dining companions and I tried the chicken omelet, Makmak biscuit, caramelized banana pancakes and buffalo chicken Benedict between us and all of us were extremely pleased with our choices. We hosted my mother-in-law's 70th birthday at Mak Mak and I truly cannot say enough about the experience. This has recently been our favorite restaurant--but after this event, it's officially the only place we will host gatherings or recommend to others. From the moment we arrived, Mike and Crystal, the owners, exceeded every expectation. Crystal, in particular, made everyone feel completely at home. She was incredibly attentive and somehow in tune with even the smallest details--down to noticing who was eating, who needed something, and who might have been missed. That level of care is rare and meant so much to our entire family. I'll admit, I went into the evening a little nervous because I'm very detail-oriented and like to plan everything myself. But they went so far above and beyond anything I could have anticipated. They made the entire night feel effortless. One of the many thoughtful touches that stood out was that they even put up a special 70th birthday announcement on their TV screens--such a small detail, but it made the night feel even more personal and celebrated. They also went out of their way to accommodate our only vegan guest, preparing a special dish with thoughtful modifications so that they felt just as included as everyone else. It was seamless and incredibly kind. What made the night truly unforgettable, though, was how personal everything felt. They interacted with our kids, held their hands, and treated our family like their own. It didn't feel like we were at a restaurant--it felt like we were being hosted by people who genuinely cared. I been wanting to try Makmak Eatery lunch for a while now and finally went on a Sunday at 2pm. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that they only do breakfast, no lunch and closes at 4pm on Sundays. So just a heads up for anyone else who didn't know- lunch/dinner is only served on Wednesdays through Saturdays 11:30am to 4pm followed by dinner. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Wowww! I've been meaning to get down to Makmak for a while, & I'm so glad I finally could. Lunch here was phenomenal. The stand out dishes were the crispy wings & the fresh crudo. The wings were tossed in a sweet & spicy (but really not that spicy at all) sauce & served with ranch. They were perfectly crispy on the outside, deliciously tender on the inside. The crudo of the day was fluke, served with shaved red onion, celery, castelvetrano olives (my favorite!!), caper berries, olive oil, & flaky sea salt. My mouth is watering typing this up right now... Two totally different starter dishes with totally different vibes. Both were SO unbelievably good. I got a burger as well, & it was nothing to sneeze at. It was a bit overdone & the gluten-free bun was a classic gluten-free bun (it had the taste & consistency of cardboard & fell apart pretty quickly) but it was still tasty. I think they served it with too many fries. I simply could not eat more than half of them. RI Food Fights' Lord of the Wings was the reason we finally made it to makmak Eatery in Cranston, and I'm so glad it did. From the moment we walked in, the space felt super warm and cozy, the kind of neighborhood spot you instantly relax into. We ordered the Thai Chili Wings, Tomato Bisque, and a side of Coleslaw, and honestly, everything was fantastic. So excited to try Makmak after hearing great reports from so many friends. When my friend and I first walked in the door, we were warmly greeted and seated immediately (we had a reservation), but we were also struck by how LOUD it was in the restaurant. I mean, it was seriously loud in there! Makmak is small - I'm guessing about 50 seats? It was packed and the noise level was such that we had to keep leaning in towards our server and asking her to repeat herself when she was telling us about the specials. We ordered the Caesar salad and the focaccia bread with dipping oil. The bread was served warm and was excellent. For entrees I ordered the chicken piccata with gnocchi instead of rice, and my friend ordered the pink vodka ravioli. Both were good, not the best we've had, but still good. I was charged extra for the gnocchi substitution, which was a little odd considering the chicken marsala on the menu is served with gnocchi so I don't really see much difference. Service was excellent, but the noise really got to us. Makmak is a nice place and we went there hoping to enjoy a relaxing dinner with conversation, but it was so loud the night we went that we struggled to hear each other. Glad to have visited, but most likely will look for a quieter place the next time I go out for dinner with a friend. read more

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would!!! I booked a reservation on a whim after looking for new places to eat in the area. First off, the website alone is beautiful. It's clear they take their business seriously. After viewing the menu online, I knew I had to try it. My sister and I ventured over this past Saturday night and were thoroughly impressed which is saying a lot since we are both foodies (and Yelp Elites!!!). They had a few specials that evening. I was sad to hear that they were out of the cod risotto, but that disappointment soon gave way to excitement when the chicken picatta caught my eye. I have a love/hate relationship with chicken. My picky body will only eat all natural chicken without antibiotics or hormones. I asked our server about the chicken, and she came back to say it was indeed all natural. It was simply out of this world! The chicken had been pounded and breaded perfectly. I could have drank the tasty sauce. It was that good! I used the delicious foccaccia bread to soak up every last drop. (Is that healthy? Maybe not, but I digress...) The owner, Crystal, later came out to introduce herself and share how she only buys the very best ingredients. She refuses to to even have a microwave in the restaurant's kitchen. She went on to share how she started her business, and how her husband is the chef. They only opened 9 months ago, but they already have quite the following and just gained two more loyal customers! Their expresso martini was next level. It easily rivals MSC (for those who aren't local, I'll spell that out... Main Street Coffee). Yup. I said it and stand by it! My sister loved her dirty martini. She even got a side car of pepperoncini juice to add a kick to it. Brayden, our server, handled all of our requests with such grace and enthusiasm. It was clear she enjoyed her job and making connections with her customers was a priority. It's that kind of interaction that makes people feel right at home. After a long day, my husband and I stopped at Makmak Eatery for the first time for a late dinner. It's a cute place with black metal chairs and warm tan tables. We started off with a shared shaved brussel sprouts salad. It had a lovely somewhat tangy dressing and was very tasty. We actually ordered an extra one to go. My husband had the chicken Marsala and I had the sweet and spicy salmon. Both dishes were just delicious. It would be hard to say which one was better. The flavors of the Marsala dish were rich but not heavy and the salmon glaze with the orange scented rice was surprising and delicate. My wife and I went to this place with very high expectations. Weird location and uncomfortable seating. The food was excellent. You can tell that they put a lot of heart and soul into there food. The problem was that the food didn't match the service and the restaurant's small tables. It kind of ruined the whole experience. Deep dish cheesecake, which was our dessert, was also tasty, topped with some of the best salted caramel sauce I've had. The menu is definitely far above what one might expect based on their location and atmosphere. Not that it isn't nice inside, but relatively casual. Somewhat industrial/farmhouse. The menu, though elevated, does have a good variety so should be able to find something for everyone. My only issue with the atmosphere is that the chairs are too low for the tables. Certainly not a deal breaker, but definitely noticeable. Upon entering we were met by the owner who happily escorted us to our table. She continued to check on us throughout our time there which was lovely. Our server was also great. Really outstanding brunch at makmak eatery with hubby! We had to use a gift card & we were also on the RI Food Fights #LordOfTheWings trail. We opted for more lunch items than breakfast but all the pancakes, waffles & egg benedicts looked amazing. I was at the Jewelry Store in the same plaza with my Dad getting a Christmas gift and on the way out, the owner Fred suggested this place so I thought we would give it a try! The restaurant itself is quaint, so chances are on the weekend you may need a reservation. However we had people at home waiting for us so we looked at the menu and ordered a to-go order. Everyone from the host to the servers were super friendly and nice! The ambiance and decor is very nice here. I will agree with another reviewer- for such a small intimate place with only about 15 tables- it was quite loud in there. Which was fine! Fabulous spot and amazing service!! The place gives off causal hip vibes with the interior and seating (metal chairs with cafe type tables) but has a bit more upscale food offerings and service. Large lot with plenty of parking spaces. We really didn't have much to complain about. Service was impeccable and extremely friendly. I don't do shellfish so I asked to confirm that the stuffed mushrooms weren't stuffed with seafood - the manager actually came out to ensure us there was no seafood in the mushrooms at all and asked if there any additional dietary restrictions, that was extremely thoughtful. Started bread was delicious, I tried really hard not to fill up on it......but I ended up eating 2 pieces anyways, sue me. I'm not typically big on gnocchi but I really was in the mood for Marsala and it delivered - not salty as some Marsala tends to be and the gnocchi were fluffy, light and paired with the chicken Marsala perfectly. My husband and I ate here a few weeks ago and we loved everything we tried. Between the two of us we tried the crispy wings, homemade focaccia, bolognese, burger and cheesecake. Everything came out fresh and hot. It was all very delicious. The ambiance was cozy and relaxed. The restaurant was super clean. We were greeted immediately by the owner/chef's wife I believe her name is Crystal. She was so friendly and welcoming.
