2.5-Will have to come back...Came today for lunch after previewing the menu. I was the first table for lunch of the day. I ordered a prosecco. The waitress asked regular or rose-I chose the rose. She came back to tell me they didn't have any left. I then ordered a cup of soup and a beet salad with chicken. She comes back to tell me they were out of beets.....I left after that. The restaurant was very clean and well decorated. Wish things had gone better. In the future, letting people know upfront what you may be out of would have made for a different outcome. read more

Rating: 3.5 It's a newer Italian seafood breakfast brunch restaurant in cranston. The place has plenty of parking and access is relatively easy. Inside is nicely decorated and spacious. It was busy when we visited so there was some wait to be seated. We came for brunch and ordered chicken wings, cheese steak sandwich, chicken omelette, and Nutella latte. Chicken wings were decent. Nice and tender and savory. I ordered blue cheese sauce but preferred without it since sauce was liquidy and lacked flavor. The wings were similar to what I would make at home. Steak and cheese sandwich was good but the bread was bit difficult to eat as it was thick and tough on the outside. Bread itself was good but I would prefer something easier to eat first a sandwich. Home fries were mediocre. I would have preferred more crunch or flavors. Nutella latte was ok. The presentation was nice but was difficult to get to the Nutella or to mix it to drink it together because it needed a bit more sweetness. I wish it was easier to drink without having to spend so much time trying to mix up the Nutella . My partner seemed to enjoy her chicken omelette. The food and drinks were good but felt like there was too much effort on presentation and lack of attention to flavor or ease of eating/drinking. They also offer alcoholic drinks although we did not try them. Service was excellent. The waiter/manager was very attentive and helpful. Overall the place was ok. Service and ambience were great but food was ok. Good place for dates and if you prefer a place that has nice ambience for the occasion. First off, the customer service is excellent! They really make you feel valued. When I called to make reservations, they worked to accommodate our party of 8 for that evening. Secondly, the food really lives up to their reputation. There was not a single disappointed person in our party. The focaccia, crab cakes, burgers, chicken, fried fish, hand cut fries, slaw and bolognese were all delicious! The restaurant has high ceilings and big windows to let a lot of light in which offsets how crowded it can get during their peak time. It's a very happenin' place and we'll definitely be back. Makmak Eatery is a new restaurant in Cranston that needs to be tried! Don't let the fact that it is in a strip mall stop you from stopping in. I would highly recommend making a reservation as when we arrived on Friday night the place was busy! The decor is adorable and the waitstaff and management team were so very accommodating. All of the food is made fresh or sourced locally so you know that you're getting the best of the best. The pricing is decent and they even allow you to split meals! My parents split a salad and a sandwich that came in individual plates for them both. The portions are huge and all of the pasta is homemade. Currently they are only serving beer and wine, but I would highly recommend the delicious refreshing watermelon spritz! Ambiance inside was great - you wouldn't think so passing by, but the inside was really nice. Brunch on Sunday. Really good food, the potatoes were nice. The Buffalo hollandaise sauce was too rich for me, but the chicken was so good and juice and crispy at the same time. Menu leads toward the vegetarian and healthier set of options. They had just finally received their full liquor license when I visited. They make a five star martini with delicious blue cheese, stuffed olives that are made by hand by the owner. I tasted their Thai chilli wings which were delicious. My husband, and I flew in from Phoenix and craving some seafood so we looked on and found this lovely Husband and Wife restaurant. They've only been for three months. Crystal and Mike treated us like part of the family. Crystal is warm and thoughtful and created the best cucumber/mint mocktail. The white anchovy Caesar salad was tasty and hit the spot after a long day of travel. Crystal brought over toasted focaccia with oil dip for starters. I had the Lobster Risotto: wonderful chucks of butter-poached local lobster , English peas, basil, mascarpone, chive oil. Wow the first bite and all the way through was delicious and full of flavor. So so good. My hubs had the Burger, with bacon Jam, house made buns and broccoli slaw with crispy fries. The fun convo with Crystal through the meal was a perfect touch for us weary travelers. The space was nicely designed, we went on Valentine day evening for dinner, staff was very warm and welcoming. I ordered the lobster risotto which was tasty, my husband got the steak and potatoe but he was not impressed. The potatoes was bland with no flavor or salt. (He had to ask for the salt shaker!) However, the brownie dessert divine!! The last thing to note and probably the reason we won't be back is the chairs are so incredibly uncomfortable and our feet were falling asleep before dinner was over. Over all lovely experience! We came in for RI food fights wing challenge, we had the buffalo & sweet chili wings & wow they were cooked & seasoned to perfection. We also shared a fish & chips, amazing crisp white fish great fries & Cole slaw. Food came out nice & hot. The customer service is exceptional. I absolutely loved the brunch at Makmak! We were greeted by the owner as soon as we entered and she was super friendly and got us seated quickly. The waitress was very attentive throughout the service, without being at our table too often. My fiancé had the steak and cheese sandwich and said it was one of the best he has ever had. I had the chicken and waffles and I found myself wanting more chicken immediately. They had jalapeños on top which were an excellent addition. We also ordered the mimosa bottle that came with three juices and the purees were homemade- we had watermelon, mango and classic orange. This place has been open for about 6 months and I finally decided to try it out. I grabbed a hot honey chicken sandwich and stuffed mushrooms to go. The mushrooms were very tasty. The stuffing was seasoned well I just wish there were more of them. The chicken sandwich was even better, the right balance of sweet and heat. All the ingredients complemented each other and the fries were fresh and cooked well. My only complaints about the experience would be the bread for the sandwich was kind of clunky. Definitely a big mouth sandwich which isn't a bad thing (unless you have a tiny mouth) but the bun was breaking apart while eating it. They have other bun options and I'd try a different one next time and see if that helps. The other negative thing would be the girl who cashed me out said she didn't have change. Which is definitely not a good thing(I paid cash), granted it was less than a dollar I was owed and I was gonna leave it anyways, so it wasn't a huge problem for me however I could see this becoming an issue for patrons if it's a continuous situation. Overall worth checking out the flavors are good the restaurant was clean and I look forward to trying another item from the menu read more

The buffalo wings were insanely good, had a lemony flavor I was a huge fan of. Lobster bucatini special was SO good and flavorful (wish it had bread on the side so the sauce wouldn't go to waste!). Service was great, owner is super sweet and clearly very passionate about her restaurant!!! Only downside is it was BYOB when we went but I'm not sure if that will change. Just attended a private party there. Everything was perfect from table settings to food to service!

Our Server, Helena, was wonderful. Clearly she either knows the job or is simply a natural. 5 Stars! After the four of us ordered two appetizers, three soups and a round of high end drinks, we couldn't have been happier. Early on the service was spot-on. Personable, kind and lovely. We even let the owner know how wonderful Helena was. We ordered our four entrees, and another round of drinks. Every meal was exceptional. Every drink prepared to top shelf expectations. When the night was drawing to a close, we ordered some desert drinks, why not end the evening with a sweet morsal. Toward the end of the evening, we noticed that a party of two was seated between two other tables. Odd we thought because that leaves two tables of two on either side instead of seating them at one of the end tables so that a party of four could be accommodated. No great shakes I guess. Then, the owner came over and asked how the desert drinks were. Wonderful we said. Hmmm....did she just ask us to move along in her own way? Possibly but we gave her the benefit of the doubt. Twelve minutes later she was back. "How was everything?" Still great, just like the last time you asked. Ten minutes later she was back to take the signed check (large tip for Helena-worth every penny) and asked if we needed anything else. Well, this makes three times and we have been around long enough to know that we were being asked to again, move it along. Also, the owner cleared two of our cocktail glasses before we were finished with them. I'm sorry, this night could have been even better if the owner had simply allowed us to enjoy ourselves beyond 6:30. She literally ruined what could have been a 5-star review. This place is delicious and we have been here twice so far! This eatery is super cute and I think the name comes from their kids' initials which I love! The chef used to work at Matunuck Oyster Bar and opened his own place so you know his standards are high. His wife introduced herself halfway through our meal and to check in to see how everything was which was really nice! She's super friendly and passionate about their place. The vibe inside is great and I love the decor! Service is good too, however with it being more popular and established I would recommend having a reservation since it's a smaller restaurant. The menu has some popular items and some unique items. We really enjoyed their red sangria. I really loved the Buffalo Benedict off the brunch menu and it was a light Buffalo hollandaise with the perfect flavor but not spicy at all. The crispy chicken was cooked to perfection as well as the poached eggs. The home fries were simple and delicious too! My husband thought the steak and cheese sandwich was okay but he was hoping for a shaved steak so that mainly the reason for it being "okay." He did say the flavor was good. When we visited in the late afternoon on a weekday, we grabbed a few appetizers, desserts and drinks. We absolutely loved the crab tots, they were incredible! The duck meatballs were great too! We also loved the desserts which we had the carrot cake and key lime pie and they were both delicious!! This is definitely a little gem in this area of Cranston! I do hope they get a new established sign on the outside for their restaurant to reflect their ambiance and look on the inside of the restaurant. Food was excellent. I had the gumbo and my husband had the chicken marsala. The flavor of the gumbo was "wow" and I loved how their marsala was over gnocchi. Definitely great quality. What a great new addition to the Garden Hills neighborhood! We were warmly greeted and promptly sat. We started with perfect old fashioneds. Nice menu offers a good selection, we opted for sweet and spicy wings, house salad, Fish and Chips and Pappardelle Bolognese. Wings were crispy and nicely flavored , the salad had a nice variety of veggies highlighted by pickled shallots in a sweet balsamic vinaigrette. Bolognese was served with house made pappardelle and spiked with ricotta cheese. The fish and chips were crunchy and flakey with no grease, tasty fries and coleslaw. Service was great, the host is one of the owners, along with her husband the chef, it is apparent MakMak is a labor of love and that shines through in the food.
