Came here with friends during the weekend while in town and it was a great experience! The staff was super nice and food was very nicely cooked. The crab was huge and plump. Our favorite was also the garlic noodles. The place also played great music!

    3lb of seafood boil!!

Came here with my family of 4 and spent around 100 before tip! What a good deal for seafood boil, we ordered crab, lobster tail, clams, calamari, and shrimp with the head on. We also got the fish and chips platter. The 3 lbs of seafood boil came with 2 free sides so we got garlic noodles and sausages. There was sooo much food and it was all delicious. My favorite was the calamari which was so yummy with their signature sauce. We got medium spiciness which was the perfect degree of hotness without being too much. I will say, the garlic noodles were just alright, the cheese on the noodles were a bit overwhelming but overall it was still such a nice meal. Our waitress was sooo sweet and funny too. Our total party outside of our family was 10 people and she accommodated all of us so wonderfully.

TL;DR 8/10 for crab boils, service, ambiance, parking, and vibes. -1 for not the greatest chicken wing app, and -1 for nothing wow. Also, offer more shucking tools :) Parking was easy to find, but was just midday Saturday. For this part of town, parking quabity decreases with the sun's position in the sky. Entry wasn't stinky, which we anecdotally use as a sign of things to come. Waitress (Rebecca?) was amazing. Very inviting, chill, but not intrusive: goldilocks zone care. Made everyone in the party feel comfortable immediately, and wasn't a ghost-host: checked in without hovering or jump-scaring. Got complementary water, and ordered chicken wing appetizer, which is freshly-made. We believed this when we got the piping hot wings, but were slightly pink for ideal chicken - keep them in there for 3 more minutes, maybe offer bread or popcorn to balance the intentional hangriness. Cajun seasoned fries hit. Our boils came out pretty quickly. Rebecca peeled the bag open for us, and we dug in. Crab was amazing (fresh, well-cooked, pre-sliced at least for king crab). Potatoes & sausage were a highlight, corn & egg were pretty average. Sauce was true to form, medium was noticeable and hot was a little challenge. We might try the extreme next time we are here. Wanted to get dessert but too full. Beachfest: We had 1 metal crusher thingie for each of us, but only 1 red plastic shucking knife / crab claw. Since we had some young crab noobs in our party, they kept passing the red claw back and forth. Maybe ask if the party wants individual red claws, or just offer them with each crusher? Be prepared for sticker shock, which shouldn't really be too much of a pinch if you're eating crab, in this economy. Weren't sure if we were paying at the table or as we walked out, but figured it out pretty easily. Overall: Again, I'm looking for anything to balance out how good this was... would definitely visit Cap't Loui's again when we our crustacean cravings boil over.

We came here as a treat for Mother's Day, and we were not disappointed! We love a good seafood boil. Their sauce was unique to us (we are used to MD style with old bay) - it's super tasty, and I'd go so far as to ask for the recipe or a bottle of the stuff! The staff was very friendly upon arrival, both the hostess and waitress. The market prices are easily visible on the wall. Their menu is easy to follow, especially for someone who had never been here before. The food and drinks (we got a captrisun - I'm sure I misspelled that) were all delicious. Easy cleanup with the bibs, gloves, table cover, etc. We will definitely be back!

The seafood was good not great, but being from New England we are lucky to have seafood in abundance. The service was nice, friendly and answered all are hundreds of questions with a smile. The drinks are top notch l, I recommend the Mr rich! The atmosphere is nice friendly, casual and I will return.

Good and affordable seafood - and they have specials throughout the week that make this place worth a visit. The restaurant is spacious with rooms to accommodate any party size, but it still has a cozy feel. Good customer service and wait times as well. Nice addition to Fed Hill and they have their own parking lot, which is a plus.

this was my first seafood boil experience at capt loui and everything exceeded my expectations! i walked in and was greeted by a friendly hostess and was promptly seated and provided water. the place was fairly clean, spacious, and the decor was industrial and seasonal (some spooky szn decor). i immediately noticed that they had immaculate taste in music because old rnb was playing the whole time and i was in such a mood. whoever picked the music on wednesday night needs to be in charge of music all the time. we came on a wednesday so there was a deal for a $20 lobster. the server had amazing rapport with us and gave us excellent recommendations. she immediately knew this was my first time at capt loui. we originally wanted to do a half pound of crawfish and half pound of shrimp in capt loui seasoning (cajun), but they accidentally gave us a full pound of each. needless to say there was a ton of food but we still demolished it so she def did us a favor lol! with an order of two whole pounds you get a free side (three pounds = 2 free sides, etc) so we ordered fries as a side. the boil includes potatoes and corn. i also ordered a strawberry lemonade in addition which imo was perfect to pair with the boil. the taste? *chefs kiss*. our server told us that the person who made our order was new, but the food still tasted amazing. we wanted medium spice and it was actually medium spice... a tolerable level of spicy. the seasoning was on point. at the end the total still came out to be more than reasonable, approx $85 incl tip for 3 lbs of seafood boil, for the both of us. the complimentary mouthwash in the bathroom was a nice touch. i'd honestly come back just for the service but with that much food and that price, i'm definitely coming back for more. capt loui providence was a great first experience for me and i recommend this for anyone who are craving some good seasoned fresh seafood for a fair price and excellent service! ps. there's parking in the back! drive through the side of the restaurant and the whole row in the very back of the lot will have designations for capt loui guests on it.

This is a very great seafood restaurant here in Providence. First the parking is great, they have parking in the rear which makes it very convenient. They have all kinda combos and even they don't list the price of the seafood online, the price is very fair. I love their Cajun flavor! The spiciness is on point. The staff here is very nice, great service and very responsive. Deby was great! I definitely recommend you guys to come check this place out!

Pro tip: this isn't on the menu but ask for garlic butter sauce. Got 2 lobsters, mussels, and shrimp and they were all so tasty. Perfectly cooked and would definitely recommend checking out when in providence!

If your looking for a good seafood boil. This place is it! The mussels are HUGE, Shrimps are juicy and the mild sauce was spicy and flavorful. Oh and this place has REAL corn. None of that frozen corn which made me so happy. Customer service was decent. I ordered this to go because parking on federal hill is the worst if you know you know. But I would consider eating inside just because your house will smell like seafood.

My server was so attentive and friendly! The restaurant was very clean, the food was delicious! Probably one of the best boils I've had! Adult Capri suns are just too much fun! Not to mention mouthwash available in the bathroom lol!

I used to drive an hr to the Braintree location just to get some bomb seafood broil but now, it only takes me 8 min to get here! Cap't Loui is the best seafood broil spot to me because of their food/drinks, authenticity, ambience, professionalism, and customer service so I'm super thankful that they're here on Atwells Ave (Fedhill), Providence. We all know it's hard to find parking here so remember that there is parking for Cap't Loui customers in the back! They've always treated customers like family so that's why I highly recommend this place. This spot is Family-friendly, Date-friendly (there's a mouth wash dispensary in the powder room), they have the capability to host big parties, and more. I can't think of the last time I wrote a Yelp review but this one is worth it. I recommend you choose them for your next seafood broil eats! You'll see what I'm talking about.

I could have eaten three of them. We also had the crudo trio, oysters, smoked fish dip and lamb burger and everything was excellent. The smoked fish dip came with crisp nori chips that were a little intense on their own for me, but perfect with a big scoop of the creamy, smoky dip. The sauce and the tuna was so good we didn't leave a trace of anything on that silver platter. The Crudo was to die for! Fresh fish was amazing and the olive oil was so good it just brings it to the next level. We were were not hungry after these two dishes, but we had to try a dessert with the experience so far. We opted for the cinnamon bun ice cream sandwich. Although it was good, I expected better. The cinnamon bun was a bit dry. First of all, the restaurant itself is small but very cute, cozy, and full of lovely New England-y Sea-Themed decor. We were promptly seated and had our order taken for our drinks & food - I had heard good things about this place, so I got a decent amount of food items, including: Lobster Roll - Arguably the best lobster roll I've ever had so far in my life. The brioche bun for it was soooo fluffy, soft, and a perfect complement to the big, juicy chunks of lobster that were seasoned and buttered JUST right. Also came with hefty and well-seasoned fries. New England Clam Chowder - Came with salted pork and potatoes in addition to the quahog clams. It was deliciously creamy and soothing to slurp on and the chunks within were all so tender and a great contrast. Clam Cakes - Added them to the Clam Chowder order for an extra $8. Big, hefty, doughy balls that were perfectly fried outside and ooey gooey within. Fish & Chips - Big, hefty fish that was juicy & delicious with a great crunch on the outside! Similarly came with the 'chips', or the hefty, well-seasoned fries that the lobster roll also came with. Oh yeah, pardon me, forgetting to mention the drinks! We ordered the Briny Martini and the Harbor House Punch! The Martini was great for a stronger drink and the Punch was a nice cocktail for anyone preferring something sweeter and fruitier. I get that we're in a city, but I value my personal space and privacy and felt like the whole restaurant could hear my every word - ick. Service: our server seemed annoyed that I didn't want an alcoholic drink, and was not very helpful. Half of the menu is not in English (very chaotic how some portions are in English and others are not, it doesn't seem consistent), so we had some questions, such as "what does x taste like?" and the only response we got was "not too sweet"....okay, but what DOES it taste like? She spoke very fast and I couldn't understand her listing off the specials, even though she didn't really have an accent. She left partway through while we were there so I guess she was just at the end of her shift and checked out, but it was so offputting how rude and unhelpful she was. When our servers transitioned, we offered to cash out then since we weren't getting anything else and wanted the original server to get her tips, but she started joking around that we didn't have to do that - which I appreciate, but we actually did want to get going and get cashed out, but she refused to give us our check. I asked three times and she still wouldn't 'let us do that'...very weird. Food: there were not a ton of vegetarian options that appealed to me. I went a little overboard on plantains by accident, which is my mistake. I first ordered the Rellenitos with cilantro crema sauce, which were very good and a flavor combination I wasn't expecting. The dough to filling ratio was a little off and they were pretty dry inside, so I needed a lot of the sauce. An order only came with 2 and I wish it was more. I'm glad I ordered something else - Tula Fries, which came with the same exact cilantro creme sauce as the Rellenitos, even though they are described differently on the menu, which felt lazy to repeat a sauce. The sauce didn't go well with them at all in my opinion so I did not enjoy these as much as I would've liked. My friend enjoyed her drink, but thought almost all of the meat on her meat and cheese board was either low quality or close to going bad. It was priced reasonably, which we were shocked by, but she couldn't eat a good portion of it sadly. We did really enjoy the baked flava bean snack that was a part of it. The board weirdly came with just half of one small, half rotten strawberry that looked terrible - it would've been better to leave it off. Towards the end of the night, there was so much water on the floor in the hallway that goes to the bathroom and passes the kitchen - I had to walk through it to go to the bathroom, which felt like a safety hazard. My friend was on crutches and wouldn't even try to get over there since we knew she'd slip on all the water. It just looked terrible and was dangerous, so not sure what we going on that there was such a water issue there. Their specialties and more meat based dishes are probably great, but there just aren't a ton of things for me to eat here. I'd be willing to try it again for drinks and apps if the service wasn't so unwelcoming.

Clam cakes were tasty, freshly fried, with lovely crisp skin but not much clam. Asked the nice counter lady to recommend the version of doughboy to try and she suggested original or cinnamon sugar. Selected cinnamon sugar on the side. The original, quite fluffy, was somewhat bland tasting. Dusting with cinnamon sugar elevated both texture and taste. The doughs were light with a beautiful golden brown glow. Rhode Island clear chowder (extra broth) was okay but could be better.

We usually have dinner next door at the restaurant, and before heading home we walk over to Iggy's to grab a box of fresh doughboys to take with us. Somehow there's always room for doughboys. One of the things I appreciate most is the consistency. It doesn't seem to matter how busy they are, the doughboys are almost always fresh out of the fryer. They're light, golden brown, and cooked just right. I've never had one that was burnt, greasy, or raw in the middle. They strike a nice balance between having a crisp exterior and a soft, fluffy center, and they're generously dusted with enough sugar to satisfy a sweet tooth without making a complete mess. The menu has plenty of classic Rhode Island favorites if you're looking for chowder, clam cakes, or other seafood, but for us it's always about the doughboys. They've become part of the ritual whenever we're at Oakland Beach, and it's one tradition we don't plan on changing anytime soon. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because this place is incredibly popular, especially during the warmer months. Depending on when you go, you may find yourself standing in line for a while. That's not necessarily a knock on the business because a busy restaurant usually says something about its reputation, but it's worth knowing if you're in a hurry. The prices are fair, the staff keeps the line moving as efficiently as they can, and the quality has remained remarkably consistent over the years. That's becoming increasingly rare. If you're spending the day at Oakland Beach and leave without stopping at Iggy's for doughboys, I think you're missing out on one of the area's best traditions. We'll definitely keep coming back.
