JoRo is literally a hidden gem! With the entrance just off of the official Spruce Street address, I had to do a double-take to find this spot that I have been eager to frequent. Here's a hint: Look for the golden lions on their gates. Upon entering the patio area, we were warmly greeted by the elder Jo who was friendly and familial. The vintage patio seating and decor gave an air of having left Federal Hill and arriving at a friend's house in Liberia. Jo, Sr. assured us that the younger Jo was waiting inside to seat us and take our orders. Just in case, he escorted our party indoors and the transformation was truly activated when we walked in! Surrounded by authentic furnishings and decor, It felt like we had walked into your friend's house (in a good way) and we were waiting for them to bring us a plate of food that their auntie had just prepared...a friend's house will a full bar! As promised, the younger Jo was there to take care of us as well as his brother, Ro...holding light conversation and making us some of the best beverages that Fed Hill has to offer. The Rosalia cocktail is so delicious and refreshing! We ordered the cornbread and Okra dish with a side of rice and both were clearly prepared with love. It was so good and seasoned to perfection. Overall, the experience was amazing. Needless to say we highly recommend JoRo, for the food, service, and atmosphere! I'm excited to return with more friends and dine outdoors.

Simply excellent! The food is exactly as enticing and delicious as "West African soul food" sounds, and the owner and staff are warm and inviting. I adore this place!

I'm super excited to see an authentic African restaurant in federal hill. The food, ambiance and service was excellent. Drinks were super strong and well worth it unlike most restaurants that tend to water down cocktails. Everything was so flavorful and clearly made with love. I love that this is a family owned establishment with the owner being super attentive to us and ensuring we enjoyed ourselves. This establishment is a wonderful addition to the Rhode Island food scene. I highly recommend and plan to return to try more delish dishes and cocktails!

I was lucky to have tried North when it was open so when I saw the former chefs were preparing the meal for Chef Night, I knew I had to sign up and was so glad I did. The meal was stupendous! The first course was shrimp and corn fritters. The fritters were filled with shrimp and corn and you can visually see the shrimp and corn. It wasn't overly doughy and the sauce was delicious! Chef Andrew described the dish and he told us that the shrimp was locally sourced from Dune Brothers. The second course was noodles with tomato and pepper dashi and grilled fish. The noodles were fresh, but it started to get a little clumpy. The dashi was really flavorful. The third course was miso tres leches cake with sakura whipped cream. This course I was the most excited about and it totally blew my expectations. Chef Andrew told us that they hand picked sakura petals and made their own whipped cream. The tres leches cake was moist, dense, and airy. The dessert was definitely the star of the show. Bravo to chefs Andrew McQuesten and Stephen Sternkopf for a wonderful locally sourced meal. Jean-Marc and the other bartender were also very friendly and accommodating. They checked on all the customers throughout the night and made yummy drinks. I had the Toasted Venture. This is one of the signature cocktails and has Toasted Pumpkin Seed-Infused Misguided Spirits Red Sky Silver Rum/Cynar/St. George Spiced Pear Liqueur/Rosemary Elixir/Mole Bitters. It was very good. A time at Clementine's is always wonderful.

It's best for small groups (no more than 4-5). I love the customer service here: our server explained the alcohol as we got each of our cocktails. I will admit, though, because I'm slightly hard of hearing, I missed a lot of the explanations, but that's ok. I came in a group of four and we all took sips of each other's drinks and that was really fun! Every drink was great, but I do favor my sake drink, white port/cream soda cocktail, the vermouth, and the one with the amaretto. Don't expect the menus to be the same as in this review! They do change it frequently and have non-alcoholic mocktails, too. We heard about this place from coworkers and that they had won an award for best new bar--an award that's well-deserved.

From our arrival, the hospitality was top tier. Warm, welcoming, unrushed. The space itself is cozy and intimate, with this beautifully curated burnt-orange vibe that feels a like a 1930s-40s Cuban lounge. Even the staff subtly matched the aesthetic and color scheme. You can tell a ton of thought went into every detail of this place. Every cocktail we tried was creative, balanced, and thoughtfully composed. Presentation was beautiful without being gimmicky. One of the hosts/servers took the time to explain each drink. We also tried the flan. It was silky, perfectly set, just sweet enough: 10/10. Once there, we learned that Loma's Latino-owned, and that heritage is subtly celebrated throughout--from their curated Salsa playlist on the high def sound system to their inclusion of Latin American flavors and ingredients in their menu. Oh and one of the details we loved most: there's no big wall of liquor bottles on display like you see in most places. They keep only a few featured spirits visible and tuck everything else away, which gives the whole space a more intimate, upscale, almost homey feel. In short: impeccable vibes, genuinely warm hospitality, gorgeous space, incredible drinks, and thoughtful details everywhere. Loma is exactly the kind of bar you hope to stumble upon when traveling--and the kind that makes you wish you lived closer. A must-visit. We'd come back in a heartbeat.

A lovely woman in the restroom overheard my friend and I unsure on where to venture, and she suggested this place! Moody and welcoming. Absolutely loved it. We went in ~10:45 on a Wednesday pm. Apparently they do live jazz weekly as well, but we'd come too late. A handful of bar patrons, a couple making out in the back of the dining room at their cute table, a lovely bartender, me& my bff. We really hit the jackpot for ambiance last night. Decor in there is so cute. I wish I took a picture of the table lamp on the bar. It was embellished with beads hanging on the rim of the shade. Our drinks were top notch. Mine was a citrus vanilla profile and hers was a savory martini. The sandwich, I had one bite of it was yummy. I don't like imitation lunch meats though. CATFISH was breaded and fried fabulously. Not oily. Crispy and crunchy. So happy to have discovered this place! The bartender told us they just celebrated 6 years of business!
