Dining at Bella Vista was lovely and delicious. We were impressed with the romantic setting - the beautiful pastel lighting and the artwork in the dining room. The pleasant owner circulated throughout the evening to welcome guests; our waitress, Dede, was fantastic and so helpful and kind. Our dinner began with a basket of delicious bread and was followed by our appetizer selections which we shared. The Eggplant Napoleon Tower with mozzarella, marinara sauce and fresh basil was very pleasing. Our other great appetizer, Grandma's Sunday Meatballs complimented the eggplant tower. This reminded me of my late mother who was a wonderful Italian cook as she would always have eggplant on hand and each Sunday, she stood at the stove cooking the Italian meatballs. What a wonderful memory for us. Our main course entrees were both excellent. The Gnocchi Alla Bella Vista were baked in a San Marzano tomato cream sauce with fontina smoked mozzarella and sweet Italian sausage. My "date" ordered Veal Parm in a tomato basil sauce, served with penne and it was enough for three meals - amazing!! Everything is presented well, and so very fresh and enjoyable at Bella Vista. Even though we were very, very "stuffed," we did enjoy a piece of the Death by Chocolate cake. We could hardly move but were totally thrilled to have this great experience at Bella Vista Restaurant. Found Bella Vista on Yelp and liked the reviews and menu. Great to try a new-for-us restaurant and have a really good meal. Two of us had the Veal Parm. The veal was delicious, the pasta and sauce ok. Two others had the chicken Marsala subbing mashed for oven roasted potatoes. They both loved it. Death by chocolate dessert was not great. Our waitress had an off night but other servers seemed very attentive. Everyone was friendly. The entrees were served hot and rated at least four stars. read more

Food: we didn't get to try pasta as we wanted something quick to have but we did try the calamari and one of their sushi rolls. It's pretty drenched in sauce, so there's a lot of flavor to unpack. It's a lot of sweet chili and it's overall savory and sweet. I think it would be better if they ease off the sauce just a little bit and let the natural flavors come through. Service: our server was very quick to get everything settled for us to have our meal Ambiance: it's a lot smaller inside with nice modern Renaissance artwork. The entire lighting is all red, but I don't think it's truly fitting to the restaurant vibe. It kinda almost feels like you're in a club. Personally I think if they found more classic artwork to add more touch to the restaurant, I think that would help it bring that vibe of "Mona Lisa." *BE AWARE OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT* The menu online is NOT the same menu in the restaurant. I had asked for a seafood pasta dish that is on their online menu, they said they could still make the dish, but instead of charging the price online -- $28.... they charged us $58. The dish was great, but they should have told us the price was going to be doubled! $58 for a frutti di mare pasta dish is ridiculous. We payed our bill, $250 and cash tip. We received an alert the next day that they charged us 100% tip ($250). We contacted the restaurant and the owner has stopped responding to our messages. He blamed the POS system even though we gave cash tip and had 0% in tip area - no excuse. This should have been fixed within a few days. It has been a few weeks and the owner will not respond. We are extremely disappointed in costumer service. We will not be returning this was a first and last. read more

Service was terrible very slow and all over the place. One waiter was very efficient and fast though but he wasn't ours. My friend asked for surf n turf sushi or whatever the waiter put in surf in turf which I understand mistakes can happen but he literally tried to make her keep the dish and said the sushi would be on the house and to keep the surf and turf special. Birthday celebration. There was 13 women in this group 6 out of the 12 got the lobster ravioli and everyone loved it. The octopus was good a bit salty so the lemon squeezed on it made it The sauce on the land and sea was a tomato champagne sauce which was awesome. Took my wife out to dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Heard about Mona Lisa from one of my wifes coworkers. We ended up doing the 3 course fixed menu deal. For appetizers, we got the eggplant tower and the Federal Hill calamari. Both were absolutely outstanding and delicious! The calamari was probably one of the best I've ever had. For the entrees, my wife had the chicken marsala. I had the veal parmigiana. Also both delicious! We ended up taking some deserts home. Had some Tres Leches and Death by Chocolate. We are both now on the verge of food comas! The staff was amazing and very attentive. We ended up talking with the owner for a few mins. Super nice guy! Great addition to the Federal Hill scene! If you're visiting Rhode Island, or a native.. Fed Hill has some amazing spots to enjoy.. including MONA LISA! We were greeted upon entry and seated quickly.. especially for a busy Saturday night. Started with drinks after learning Mickey can also make mock tails to order. We tried 3 different mojitos.. the Mona Lisa mojito, the coconut mojito, and the passion fruit mojito. My personal favorite was the Mona Lisa! Started our dinner with homemade bread with some amazing olive oil. We moved to the Grandmas Sunday Meatballs. Talk about real deal Italian! Homemade meatballs topped with ricotta cheese. Served with grilled tuscan bread topped with homemade red gravy. Next up was the Spruce Roll... this had a Latin / Dominican twist to it. Chicken tempura, fried cheese, maduro (plantain), guacamole, and teriyaki chicken. Yummmm! To wrap up our entrees we tried the Grilled Octopus, served over a generous arugula salad drizzled with a garlic, extra virgin olive oil, parsley and lemon juice vinaigrette. So refreshing! Lastly, we ended our dinner with the Tres Leche cake as well as the Death By Chocolate cake. The tres leche was super moist, and the chocolate cake was abundantly rich! The staff was polite and very friendly. Even management came over to check in on our experience. Overall, we truly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely return next time we're in RI. Thanks Rob! The place may look small from the outside but once you enter inside you are mesmerized by the decor and ambiance of the establishment. The food that I've had so far is beyond amazing and delicious!!! My favorite so far is the lobster ravioli, they use REAL lobster and big chunks of it too. You don't just get the lobster Inside the ravioli but also on top and mixed Into the sauce also. My cousin and I spent the weekend in Providence and chose to go to Mona Lisa based on reviews. The restaurant lived up to the hype, with very tasty and creative drinks, and amazing food! We shared the Rhode Island Calamari and Coconut Shrimp to start, along with artisan cocktails. The shrimp were huge and perfectly cooked, as were the calamari. For dinner we had the salmon and skirt steak. The portions were large and the food was delectable. Service was beyond our expectations, and the house manager, bartender, and servers went out of their way to check in on us and accommodate our needs. I visited Mona Lisa RI this past Sunday for brunch. The location is very nice and the decor was cute. The service however was not. It's a very small location & for some reason it took such a long time to get the things we ordered. It took about 30mins to receive the hookah we ordered. The drink ordered off the brunch menu was $16 and was about 4oz mostly filled with ice. Although our server brought us another drink it was still over priced. The food was mediocre. I got the chicken and waffles and my waffles were rock hard. By the time a new batch came out my entire table was done with their food. The DJ who was spinning was great which saved face. Went with friends before a show at PPAC b/c my friend wanted to try it. The menu has a diverse selection of food offerings; Italian, Puerto Rican, Dominican, Sushi, etc. so I was all over the place trying to figure out what to eat. Two of us ordered the eggplant tower, an appetizer, as a main dish with a side of pasta. The eggplant was very good, but the small bowl of pasta ($9.00) was cold or barely warm and it came out several minutes after the eggplant. My friend ordered the Gnocci side pasta and it was very good. The friends shared a dish of Caesar salad that they liked very much and one friend had the octopus salad that she said was good. Waiter was attentive and gave us heads up that although they opened at 5pm, the kitchen was still prepping for service, but we weren't in a hurry and appreciate the honesty.
