    Chicken Parm

A Rhode Island institution. Old school family Italian. The chicken Parmesan seemed to use a commercially made deep fried chicken and was just fair. However the veal Parmesan was much better and delicious. Attentive service and wood paneling decor is reminiscent of years gone by, but in a good way. Ask for a seat by the window if available.

The food at Twin Oaks is great. It's a classic Rhode Island restaurant. Good sized portions. We always have great service. Especially when Gene is our waiter. Lots of parking available and there's also valet.

I know I'm in the minority when I say, this place is overrated. The staff and service were exceptional!! The restaurant itself looks like it hasn't been updated in over 30 years!! We sat at the bar and honestly the steak wasn't that good. Might go back and try a pasta dish but won't be rushing back.

The expectations for this place were both high & low. I was told this place is a RI staple but don't expect too much on the food. I found this to be pretty accurate as some of the food was solidly good & some of the food was mediocre. Knowing what to order is pretty key. What made this place memorable & likely why it is considered an institution was the unique interior with old wooden walls giving the area character, the very reasonable food & alcohol prices & most importantly the service was stellar. The server went above & beyond & was highly personable.

We came to Twin Oaks for a birthday dinner, and the parking lot and lobby were both packed. I ordered an Old Fashioned, which was okay, though it was missing the maraschino cherry. For appetizers, we had the calamari and caprese salad. The calamari was pretty good, though I'm not sure about the banana pepper sauce. The caprese salad was fine, but I wish it hadn't been served on a bed of lettuce and that the basil wasn't shredded. For the main course, we tried the seared prime rib and surf and turf. The steak was a bit cold and dry, and the shrimp wasn't great. The prime rib had way too much fat. Overall, it was an okay experience. For the price, the food didn't quite live up to the hype.

Come on who doesn't know Twin Oaks if you live in RI I'm sure you have visited or have heard of this place. I haven't been here in a few years and it was a treat to come back for a get together. For a Saturday there was no wait (a party if 4) we went at 1:00 pm and the place was already busy. I even found a parking which can be hard at times. For starters we got a charcuterie board and as you can see it was full of meat, I do feel it could have had more cheese but still a great spread. I went with the baked stuffed shrimp with mashed potatoes but this plate goes back in the oven to toast the mashed potatoes a bit. The stuffing is so good in itself. I didn't have a drink but my daughter and friend had the classic margarita which they thought was surprisingly strong ( they are not cheap with the alcohol). I do wonder why they have always only had male waiters. The prices are a bit higher but the quality of food is worth it. It's a busy place so fine with patience. I don't believe they take reservations but I could be wrong. Dress is casual but some do dress up a bit.

Growing up this was the place to be.. always good service and good company .. great menu options - variety of items to please everyone. It has its busy times but is spread out enough so it's not overwhelming. Cranston/Rhode islanders rave about it- I've had my good times and ehh times but always come back for more !

Once I ordered my soda I took in the ambiance of the bar, new lights, and the rest of the restaurant. It's not a large building but they make every inch count. Now, the reason you're reading this review- THE FOOD. I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich with a Caesar Salad. The chicken (photo below) was perfectly cooked, topped with hot honey, slaw, pickles, and ranch then placed on a soft brioche bun. The meal was reasonably priced as well at $33 which included tip. I will absolutely be back to the Shanty next time I'm in town.

The restaurant wasn't too busy, but there was a steady crowd. People were either dining in or picking up to-go orders. They offer indoor and outdoor seating, so there are plenty of areas to dine. The bartender was friendly and helpful. I decided to go with the seared salmon, Brussels sprouts, and corn risotto. Thankfully, it wasn't much of a wait because I was hungry. My food came out fresh and hot. Everything was really delicious. My only complaint was there were a few flies swarming around me, which made my dining experience less enjoyable. I spent most of my time trying to swat them away. The bartender even moved me to another spot, but they still followed me. While I really enjoyed my food and the service, it might be a good idea for them to invest in small table fans to keep the flies away. Otherwise, my food was tasty, and the service was great!

Wish their gravy had a little more to the serving, was a mushroom almost broth flavored gravy with a background hint of something I can't put my finger on... maybe Marsala wine??? Feel like their Bread & butter could be a lot better, super crusty and the butter was pretty flavorless and portion of it was a dollop. This location is right behind Warwick mall, there's tons of parking all around and it gets pretty busy in there but they accommodate pretty fast. I love that they have a good amount of booths at any given time. But when they have to combine tables together for big parties, it's a little annoying because they're smack in the middle of the restaurant and it can get pretty loud. But otherwise the volume of the restaurant isn't that bad at all. We were greeted very warmly and sat promptly. The first table they sat us at was directly next to the kitchen entry/exit, I asked to be sat somewhere less chaotic, and was warmly told we could and we were moved. The table we were brought to the seats were dirty, so I asked for them to be cleaned, she half cleaned them. I saw stuff still on them, and then they were wet instead of her drying them so I did it with my hand ( not ideal, but also not sitting on a wet booth) . I opened my utensils and my knife had stuff on it, so it's clearly not clean. I asked for a new knife. My waitress apologized and brought another set and said if there was any issues with that she would personally shine a set herself. My server was Kelly, beyond amazing from start to finish. Very attentive, funny and a great server- for sure. They probably earned this review more stars honestly. We ordered the big boy steak, the shrimp and lobster chowder, 2 lobster tails with asparagus and loaded baked potato and we had bread for the table. The food was so delightful. From the tasty chowder to the entree, even the bread was sweet and so good. The food was amazingly delicious- I was shocked. And the price points are actually pretty good. We were shocked to see all of that and we had 2 drinks as well ( Texas margarita and Jack and coke) total without tip all under 100.00 that's amazing for 2 people. The food is so good. The review simply loses starts for the dirty table, booth and the dirty knife, that's so gross- also makes me wonder what else is dirty. But the service and food were very good!
