Definitely a disappointment. I came here on the recommendation from somebody I work with and I heard a lot of good things about the restaurant even from other people. The restaurant itself was clean and the booths were comfortable. Lighting was good, although the temperature was a little too cool and the room we were in. Parking is plentiful. We we're impressed by the extensive menu, morning breakfast options and the fact that dinners come with a potato and vegetable or pasta and soup or salad. The service was average. Although we thought it was a little bit odd that the wait person was telling us certain things weren't recommended because maybe they didn't sell well or didn't look too good. That made me a little bit uneasy, but I appreciated the honesty. Then came the food. The chicken Soup was good, but it could have had a little bit more pasta. I had the chicken francaise although the chicken seems like it may have been undercooked in certain areas and had a crunchy texture, which was very unappealing. The sauce was okay, but it wasn't anything to write home about. The mashed potatoes were definitely from a mix and they were disgusting, as was the brown gravy. The beets were the only thing I finished. I had the spumoni for dessert and that was actually OK. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place and we won't be back.

3 baked stuffed shrimp, butternut and apple mash, roasted potatoes and escarole chicken soup $16.99

Still has great escarole soup, fresh Italian bread, butternut squash and apple compote. I Usually get the 3 baked stuffed shrimp, with soup and 2 sides. The stuffed shrimp are fine if you don't eat the stuffing, just dip in some butter . They are always a bit overcooked- they should put less dressing or get the next size up of shrimp. The tails are always too overcooked and hard and you can't eat them. Always lots of food and the Service is always great. I see many of the same faces whenever I go - crowd during lunch is 70 plus .

Last time I was here 11 years ago I put in a great review about this place. When I came back to Rhode Island we were trying to find a place to eat and it's funny coz my review had come up. So we took a chance we were a little worried coz there were no updated reviews for this restaurant. I'm so glad we made it here again. Food still great , my husband had the chicken parm and I had the fried whole belly clams again which were meaty and perfectly done- melted in your mouth- better than some of the clam shacks we've been to during this trip.

I think for the price they charge they should do a little remodeling stuck in 70s, It looks dirty. It's too bad because the food is good

This has recently been our favorite restaurant--but after this event, it's officially the only place we will host gatherings or recommend to others. From the moment we arrived, Mike and Crystal, the owners, exceeded every expectation. Crystal, in particular, made everyone feel completely at home. She was incredibly attentive and somehow in tune with even the smallest details--down to noticing who was eating, who needed something, and who might have been missed. That level of care is rare and meant so much to our entire family. I'll admit, I went into the evening a little nervous because I'm very detail-oriented and like to plan everything myself. But they went so far above and beyond anything I could have anticipated. They made the entire night feel effortless. One of the many thoughtful touches that stood out was that they even put up a special 70th birthday announcement on their TV screens--such a small detail, but it made the night feel even more personal and celebrated. They also went out of their way to accommodate our only vegan guest, preparing a special dish with thoughtful modifications so that they felt just as included as everyone else. It was seamless and incredibly kind. What made the night truly unforgettable, though, was how personal everything felt. They interacted with our kids, held their hands, and treated our family like their own. It didn't feel like we were at a restaurant--it felt like we were being hosted by people who genuinely cared. I cannot thank Mike and Crystal enough for making my mother-in-law's 70th birthday such a memorable, special experience. We are beyond grateful and will be back again and again.

During a nine-day stay at the hotel, my wife and I were fortunate to have Asia serve us at breakfast on the majority of mornings. From our very first interaction it was clear that she brings an exceptional level of care and professionalism to her role. What set Asia apart was her genuine attentiveness to guests as individuals. Without prompting, she took note of our food preferences and remembered them from one morning to the next -- a small but telling detail that speaks to her commitment to personalised service. She combined this with a warm, welcoming personality that made every breakfast a pleasure rather than simply a meal. Asia's manner is consistently professional: she is efficient, proactive, and composed, yet never loses the human touch that distinguishes truly excellent hospitality. She clearly understands that the guest experience is shaped as much by the people who deliver it as by the surroundings. I would recommend Asia without hesitation to any employer in the restaurant or hotel industry. She has the personal qualities, work ethic, and guest-focused mindset that are the foundation of a strong career in hospitality, and I believe she has considerable potential for progression into supervisory or management roles. A cute hostess area for pickup orders, but we headed to the small dining room and grabbed a table. I ordered garlic Parmesan wings and a meatlovers pub pizza. Our server/bartender was pleasant and attentive the whole time. Our food arrived looking great. The wings were cooked nicely, jumbo sized with super crispy texture and juicy on the inside. The garlic Parmesan was... Interesting. I believe it's a mayo based sauce, similar to an Alabama white BBQ sauce. I could see the appeal in it but it wasn't for me personally. The pizza was great as usual. I love the combination of the toppings on the meatlovers with the sauce. I enjoyed every bite. While I don't need an excuse to come to Grainsley's as it's in my semi regular rotation, I didn't mind the chance to come back sooner than later for some awesome wings and pizza!
