Wagyu

We celebrated our anniversary at Claudine with a 5:30 pm reservation. They have done a wonderful job renovating the space, and I loved how we were greeted and then whisked into the dining room, which is separated from the entry by a door. The open concept felt intimate and comfortable with enough space between couples that we didn't feel crowded. Our entire evening took about 2.5 hours and the timing felt great - not too fast yet not too slow. We added in the cheese course, and one of us had the caviar and one the wagyu which are additional supplements. The pear salad was a highlight along with the chicken and the wagyu. We've had all the tasting menus in PVD and in Newport and this is by far the top experience out of all of those. Service was attentive but didn't feel stuffy and I loved, loved the 90s rap soundtrack which sang to my gen x heart.

Can I rate this place a 10? Yes 100% perfect 10. From the moment you walk in you can feel how special it is. No detail was forgotten. The restaurant was small, warm, intimate, limited seating, and chefs pre-fixed meal with some choices you can make for add ons. When I say it was perfect, I mean it was perfect. The ambiance, the decor, the staff - perfection. It felt like I was at a Michelin star restaurant. Every piece of silverware, glassware, plate pristine. Every element of every dish was not only beautiful but also delicious and felt like it took hours to make each one. Our first welcome dish was simple looking but had the most beautiful burst of flavor. Truffles on a cracker? Really? But the cracker was soft and buttery and the truffle sat on top of a magical perfect amount of sauce. I wanted a giant plate of it. Our second dish was not just a simple oyster, but an oyster in a sauce topped with a sauce that worked! I appreciated that it was not yet another oyster. Our next was my absolute favorite, a beet soup? Puree? I'm not sure, but the flavors were so complex and the cracker that went with it was so extraordinarily delicate, melt it your mouth. I can eat this all day long! My next was a squid ink pasta piled high with the added caviar. So rich and decadent. My husband had the trout and he said it was a delicious. The next few were a blur, still every dish that came was nothing like the last. Every component of each dish worked so incredible well together. The finishing desserts (yes they gave us each two!) were bowls of happiness. My top 3 of all time. I've had ALOT of tasting menus in my day. ALOT, this is by far the best I've had. On the pricey side I admit but to me worth every penny.

Somehow, despite having lived here for years and spending plenty of time around downtown…read moreProvidence, I had never been to The Eddy. I'm honestly not sure how I missed it, because this is exactly the kind of place I like finding. It is the true definition of a small cocktail bar. The space is tiny, intimate, and has a very specific atmosphere, so if you're looking for a big place with plenty of tables, this probably isn't it. If you're looking for a great cocktail in a cozy little bar, however, you're in the right place. The cocktail menu is excellent. There are a lot of creative options that go well beyond the standard collection of Old Fashioneds, Margaritas, and Martinis you'll find at most bars. The drinks are imaginative without becoming gimmicky, and the combinations we tried were really well balanced and interesting. You can tell there is some serious thought behind the cocktail program, and it makes ordering something new a lot of fun. Our waitress was fantastic as well. My wife ordered a drink that apparently isn't something every bartender is familiar with, so our waitress went back to the bartender to ask about it. The bartender immediately knew exactly what she was talking about, which was a nice little reminder that these people actually know their drinks. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience easy without hovering over us. The music deserves a mention, too. It was fantastic and fit the atmosphere perfectly. The Eddy has that comfortable, slightly dark cocktail-bar feeling where you can sit down, have a drink, listen to good music, and actually enjoy being there rather than feeling like you're sitting in a loud restaurant waiting for someone to bring you your check. My only real warning is that this place is genuinely small. That is part of its charm, but it also means getting in and finding a seat can be difficult at times, particularly when it's busy. You probably shouldn't show up with a large group expecting to immediately find a table. For two people looking for a couple of really good cocktails, though, it's pretty much ideal. The prices are also quite reasonable for the quality of the drinks. You're obviously paying cocktail-bar prices rather than dive-bar prices, but I didn't feel like we were being taken advantage of. Considering the creativity and quality of what we were drinking, I thought the prices were perfectly fair. I'm actually a little annoyed that I went this long without knowing The Eddy existed. Providence has so many cocktail bars that you can spend years here and still keep discovering places you've somehow walked past a hundred times. The Eddy is definitely going on the list of places we need to come back to, and we will 100% be back.

I tried four cocktails some from their new menu and some of their past drinks, they were all great. My favorite was the Passion Fruit Martini and the Strawberry , the Sumac Paloma was great. The most unique drink was the Saffron & Black Lime Daiquiri, a little savority. My least favorite but it was interesting to try.

I came with one other person around 10:30pm on a weeknight. It was not crowded and we were sat near the back, next to the bathrooms-not ideal. Our waitress seemed a bit impatient and rude. She did not introduce herself so I don't know what her name was. We were caught up in conversation and our waitress was rushing us to order. We wanted to order dessert but we were informed that the kitchen was closed so we were unable to. We both ended up ordering Passionfruit Martinis and they were high-quality with great attention to detail. It's essentially a classic martini with passionfruit-flavored popping boba, served over a large ice cube. The drink was impressive and is the sole reason this review gets any stars. Usually I'm asked prior if we need separate receipts or if they're together, but my waitress failed to do that. The waitress came over with the receipt and I politely asked her to separate the check. She told me the drinks were the same price and to split it. We needed separate itemized receipts, I felt like I shouldn't have needed to justify why. I asked her again to do it and she actually split it for us. My friend and I were deep into conversation and another employee came over with an attitude and told us they were closing and my friend wasn't even able to finish her drink. She even made a comment on the rudeness of the employees and how it made the experience uncomfortable. Overall, I felt like the service left a bad impression on me. I'm not sure if I will return in the future. The drinks were pretty unique but the service was not pleasant.

Very cool cocktail bar in Providence!…read more Stopped in here after a lovely dinner and comedy show. It was super mysterious trying to find this place since it's located in what looks like an abandoned building. To get in you need to press a button on the intercom system and say "Juniper" and then they will buzz you in. A very unique experience for sure. We split one of their tequila cocktails which was just okay but would love to come back here to try some others. Highly recommend stopping in here either before or after dinner. Cheers

The place is nestled away inside the Room & Works building with just a call box and no sign, so make sure you know the password! We came in with another group in front of us, so unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to say the password ourselves, but we'd love to return for the full experience! Be warned that the place is quite small, so you'll most likely have to wait since they do not take reservations. For a party of two on a Saturday night, our wait was around 40 minutes, and we were eventually seated by the bar. I will say that the seating arrangements could be thought out a little better because we had to play musical chairs quite a few times throughout the night. That aside, the drinks themselves were quite good! You can tell the bartenders are very skilled and passionate about crafting their cocktails. For any Star Wars fans out there, the tiki drinks are served in mugs featuring some of your favorite characters, which was such a fun touch! Overall, the drinks were on the pricier side, but I'd say they were well worth it. Definitely a fun spot to check out!
