My review is based on the service and the one drink that we ordered until we found out the pizza was not on the menu for the month of January. Double Zero is located in Plant City, which is a plant based food hall and market in Rhode Island! Everything here is vegan or plant-based which I thought was really cool. When you sit down, you have the option to order from any of their menus (from different cuisine types), but we decided to go with Pasta/Italian/Pizza which is Double Zero's speciality. To start off, we got their meatballs. These were solid, the tomato sauce was delicious! I wish the meatball itself had more of a crispy/crunchy outer layer. It was a bit too soft/mushy for my liking. You could definitely tell it was plant-based as well (which is fine, just not my preference!). We got their Cacio e Pepe and the Rigatoni Alla Vodka. I was a big fan of the Garlic Bread Twist! I could honestly eat this by itself. The Garlic Bread wasn't overwhelming the Rigatoni it was paired with but very flavorful. The Rigatoni was okay to me, it wasn't the usual Rigatoni pasta shape and I thought it could've had stronger flavors/seasoning. I really enjoyed their Cacio e Pepe, the cashew cream sauce was very tasty and highlighted the black pepper and cheese flavors. At first I wasn't a fan of it. After a few bites, it grew on me! Service was solid, our waitress was friendly and we got our food quick. I can see this as a great spot for people with dietary restrictions or just a cute date spot as well. This was an absolutely amazing meal from start to finish. First, we were seated at a table with a great view of the river, inside the chic upstairs dining room. We proceeded to have quite the feast - and none of it disappointed. We started splitting two appetizers: meatballs in tomato sauce and eggplant parmesan. Both with incredible. For entrees, my husband had a raw lasagna that he loved (I am not a raw zucchini fan) and had beautiful presentation, and I had a big plate of cacio e pepe. Our vegan friends brought us non vegans to Plant City. Apparently they used to have a system so you could order from all the restaurants within Plant City, but now you have to choose from one restaurant to order from. The vegan pasta sounded good, so we went with Double Zero. Our friendly waitress sat us in a cozy booth, where I got a nice view of the restaurant. $17 Cacio e Pepe - almond parmesan, black pepper cashew cream: Very creamy nut-based sauce from the very versatile cashew. The noodles were thick and chewy and the sauce clung well. If I didn't know what it was, it could very well mimic egg pasta with cheese. $19 Bianca Pizza - macadamia ricotta, cashew mozzarella, parmesan, rice mozzarella, pepperoncini, rapini, plant yolk: Very creamy once again. Another win for versatile fatty nuts. Also I never knew that rice could turn into mozzarella. Perhaps it was rice milk processed into faux mozzarella? The tart and bitter taste of the pepperoncini and rapini balanced out the creaminess. The best part was the dough. $18 Pesto Pizza - macadamia ricotta, zucchini, arugula, parmesan: Tasty. Not too difficult to make a vegan pesto pizza. I wouldn't mind if the zucchini was a bit more roasted. Food was tasty and service was very thoughtful. Some of the dishes could have used a bit more flavor, or just a touch more balance to all the nut-based cream sauces. read more

Okay, let's start this review off with the fact that I'm not a vegan. However, I've had several meals at the related Plant City X and really enjoy their versions of burgers, etc. But the key with Plant City X is that the plant based substitutes do replicate the meat based version. However, slices of raw zucchini with tomato sauce and dollops of cashew cheese sauce aren't anywhere near a lasagna. I get that it's supposed to be raw, but as visually appealing as that thing may be... it's cold, bland and you'd have to have never tasted a real lasagna to think it's anything similar. The sad thing is that I've had plenty of vegetable lasagnas that could likely be transitioned to something vegan instead of this. But it doesn't stop there... they've got wonderful pizza dough. But again they throw on the cashew cheese dollops, which then ruins the entire consistency and certainly doesn't belong in a calzone or a margarita pizza. Cashew cheese dollops are the consistency of ricotta and that's not how ricotta is used. There were some aspects that just seemed like poor preparation, like the burnt churros for dessert and the soggy buffalo tofu pizza. Out of the whole group, the only meal that seemed appetizing in a pizza & pasta joint was a salad. C'mon now. If you're going to be a vegan restaurant you need to have more than salads going for you. Now let's talk about the rest of the place... honestly for brunch, the downstairs was packed, and the upstairs with the pizza place was huge and vacant (maybe that was a sign.) There did seem to be some pretty arbitrary rules like you couldn't order anything from the Mexican restaurant that shared the seating area (and likely the same kitchen). But that rule seemed to only apply to our table because a few tables over from us was clearly ordering pizza and Mexican. That being said, the redeeming quality and why I've given the place 2 stars... is the orange creamsicle drink. It's pretty darn good. read more

The only positive was our server was really nice. Uncooked eggplant in the eggplant parm- I mean UNcooked - still raw and hard. Had to send it back. The Bolognese was more like a salty south Indian dish (and I love South Indian food!), not even close to an Italian dish. The pizzas were chewy and came with generous bites of burnt oven leftovers. Every interaction with the staff required all of of to wear masks, even at the table, the payment was really smooth and safe, very good control of the pandemic rules and regulations. Wow - meat, who? What a great new place downtown where the terrible awful Mile and a Quarter used to be! Came on a Wed night - found parking on the street (after 6pm - you don't need to feed the meters). They really did a beautiful job with the place - clean, modern and NY'esque vibe. We went upstairs to dine at Double Zero (there isn't much of a division between this and Bar Verde but the host/hostess will help you out). We sat at the bar and had a nice view of the open kitchen. We saw all the prep and artistry of the food particularly the pizzas and the lasagna - they put so much love into what they do and it shows. We went with the tomato zucchini lasagna, caçio e pepe and spicy pepperoni pizza (server's recommendation). Everything was delicious and super tasty. It was amazing how flavorful everything was - and the lasagna - just absolutely delicious. All the flavors just worked so beautifully. Cacio e pepe was good but there was a bit tanginess that threw me off. Pizza had a nice crust and again flavors were so good. We asked to scale down a bit on the spice but really I think we could've taken it. The place is a bit pricey but I'm willing to pay for good food. First time dining in this part of Plant City. We had eaten at Bar Verde the week before. I already knew the drill for reservations on OpenTable, street parking and to go upstairs when you walk in the door. On a Monday night, the entire place was bustling. We checked in with the hostess and were seated in at a window table. The hostess left us with menus and we perused. The drink side is the same for both restaurants. Having tried to cocktails last time, we opted for wine tonight. I got a French rose that wasn't memorable and my husband ordered an Italian red blend that was tastier and less expensive. Our server, Maddie, was friendly and attentive. We ordered the eggplant caponata, meatballs and mushroom bolognese. Things came out very quickly. The food temperature was a little warm-not hot out of the oven/off the stove. Presentation was lacking a little something as I mentioned in my review of Bar Verde. The chef doesn't use commercially made plant "meat" and the walnut ground beef and bean/quinoa meatballs were clearly homemade. The nut based cheeses are delicious as well. The Double Zero in Boston is one of my favorite restaurants, so when I found out there was one in Providence, I had to try it! Overall, the Boston location is definitely superior. I ordered the Cacio E Pepe, and the flavor isn't as good as the Boston location. Here, it has more of a sulfury egg flavor from the nutritional yeast, while the Boston location has more of a hint of citrus that makes it a more balanced dish. This location does give bigger portions, though, and actually made me full, while the one in Boston is definitely smaller with thinner noodles. I did love the Churros here! It can be hard to find vegan churros, so I really appreciated that there was a vegan option here. It had a good balance of crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, and it wasn't too sweet. The chocolate and caramel sauces were amazing, too! Our server was really nice and went out of her way to find us red pepper flakes, despite another server saying he didn't think there was any and didn't bother to look for any. I do find it weird though that it was hard to find red pepper flakes when it is such a common topping for pizza and pasta. I was so incredibly excited to get to try Plant City, but once I saw that Double Zero had a sit down restaurant upstairs, I made a beeline and didn't really get to explore the rest of this vegan paradise. I've only been once to the DZ in NYC, but it was such a memorable experience, such exquisite food. I very much appreciate the vibe of the Providence location, as it's spacious and the acoustics are a lot more bearable. Don't get me wrong. I'd gladly devour a Double Zero pizza while standing crammed in at a tiny counter, but ah, the Providence location is so much more civilized than that (to be fair, DZ in Manhattan won't have you crammed at counter, but the inside is tiny and packed and loud). The ambiance here is decidedly more posh and intimate. As much as I wanted the squash blossom pizza, I was wooed by all the reviews of that truffle pie with roasted kale, as it boasted two of my all time favorite things. But first, the artichoke app with white beans and celery root shavings. It's a nice, light app, though fell a little short on flavor. I had to add salt... I think the herbiage was a touch too delicate, if you know what I mean. But that pizza. Wow! Let's just say that I didn't really want to share it after all. I'm glad I did, as it freed up some room for that tiramisu I have been dying to try since last year, but this was one of the best pizzas that I've ever had. The kale is plentiful, perfectly roasted and drizzled with a whole lot of decadent truffle oil. Mushrooms allow for a nice, almost meaty texture. It's pizza perfection. About that tiramisu, though... I think next time I'll skip it so that I can eat more of whatever pizza I'm indulging in. I prefer a lighter "marscapone" which may or may not be traditional (it's been so long since I've had a dairy-based tiramisu) and a stronger espresso flavor. We had the loveliest server, Cassidy, who will expertly guide you through the menu if it's your first time. We didn't want for anything throughout the entire meal. We had wanted to come for some time, but haven't because it is too expensive so we figured we'd wait for a special occasion like our anniversary. We got the cacio e pepe, pepperoni pizza, and the tiramisu. First thing I want to say is that they don't seem to be consistent with their dishes. All the pics I've seen on IG and Yelp of Cacio E Pepe has spaghetti noodles. When we ordered it, we got pasta shells. The tiramisu we got also did not look like the tiramisu I've seen in pics. Makes me wonder if the way it tastes is also inconsistent. Our cacio e pepe was okay. The shells were on the hard side, it could've definitely been cooked more. I thought it tasted alright. It wasn't awful, but definitely not amazing either. My husband said it reminded him of boxed Mac and cheese with some black pepper on top. Our pepperoni pizza (which by the way, does not have any pepperoni despite it's name) was sweet and spicy. The spicy parts were a bit too spicy and I typically enjoy spicy foods, but it wasn't a good spicy in my opinion. The tiramisu was my favorite. It was tasty. We both really enjoyed it. It's probably the only thing I'd come back for. Overall, I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you are rich and don't mind spending a lot of money on mediocre food. I REALLY loved this dinner. The atmosphere is nice, located right above plant city. I wish we were able to sit further inside the restaurant, but we got seated near the stairs which was pretty cold since the door kept opening downstairs. I would rate this a 3.5 if I could, but I'll round up. We waited SO long to be seated. It was almost an hour and they said it would take only 30 minutes! To make it worse, we sat at the Bar Verde bar to order margaritas while we waited and the bartender took 10 minutes to take our order! Very nice but very slow. When we finally got seated, everything came quickly. Our waitress was super nice and patient. We all ordered a drink and I ordered the cacio e pepe for dinner. My one friend got pasta bolognese and the other got Margherita pizza. We all loved our dinner - mine was SPECTACULAR. The pasta was so delicious and flavorful. The sauce was rich. I had enough leftover for lunch the next day and I almost always clean my plate! The prices may look high but they are worth it for the portion size. The service has slowly gotten better from when they first opened, as they started to hire and train more people. The ambience is very relaxing although it can get loud. The menu is small but everything I've tried has been great. The pizza is a must try! My favorite is the pepperoni, and I also like the truffle pizza. The Cacio e Pepe and tiramisu are also delicious! I went for the first time two weeks ago with 5 other people. Everyone loved their meal. So had to go back this week with my husband and he loved it as well. We had the tagliatelle with mushroom (Amazing!) the chopped salad (Loved it!) and the Pesto Pizza (My fave, this is the second time I ordered it). We asked her about the size of the pizza which she said was four slices which to us sounded like not a big enough pizza for the both of us. That was inaccurate. So we got the salad, pizza, & eggplant parm yet it was too much food. The major issue was we ordered the salad as an appetizer the the entrees as our meals but the salad came out & no utensils for us to use. then the pizza came out 2 minutes later. WHAT?! Why the hell is the timing of our food so off? Come on, how do you screw this up? So now I don't want the hot food getting cold so I eat the pizza & then the eggplant comes out so now we have everything on the table & it's just all wrong. I am eating me entree before my salad & that's not the way to do things, backwards. We eventually take some things in a doggie bag & the boxes are way too big, super annoying. But of course things only get worse. When we ordered our dessert she comes back to say they're out of the pumpkin dessert I wanted. ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW??!!!! This place is something to truly behold. It feels a bit surreal to walk into a building with four concepts and all plant based. With that said our first destination was Double Zero. I've made vegan pizza for years. This place transcends everything I've ever understood about the plant based food concept. It's not about replicating the forms of meat. It's about creating the flavor profiles and textures of eating what is familiar yet elevated. First we ordered the artichoke conserva confit with cannellini beans, parsley and celery. The flavors are subtle and it's a bit underwhelming. We next went with Pepperoni, an exquisite combination of farro, tomato, macadamia ricotta, calabrian chilies, agave, and fennel pollen. The sweet heat blending of elements was a delicious pleasure. I would order this one again. My wife ordered the Bianca, a balance of macadamia ricotta, cashew mozzarella, peperoncini, rapini, and plant yolk. This was such an amazing delight of flavors with the nice bite of heat and tang from the peppers. Another one that makes the reorder list. I cannot finish the review without mentioning the namesake double zero which refers to the grade of flour. I didn't know anything about this prior but now I understand. The dough is unbelievably crisp yet chewy with an amazing texture. Pizza will never be the same. We finished with the DZ TIramisu. Unlike any I've had. The custard had a creamy bite to balance the dense flavorful cake. We savored every crumb. This place is a godsend for the vegan community and anyone wanting to experience plant based cuisine and a healthier approach to wonderful food will not be disappointed. Last bit of advice. Two visits. Two polar opposite experiences. While our first Plant City visit was technically, Bar Verde, our second was here at Double Zero. We ordered two Pizzas for a group of us to sample (as well as the meat(less) ball). While the app was delicious, the Pizzas were both overly burnt, and very bland. We seldom leave food on the table but no one wanted to take the remaining slices home. Really had hoped for a better experience especially given the extreme amount of media exposure that this place has seen. The article this week in the Boston Globe also mentioned that Plant City is "bringing life back to a quiet side of Providence". AHEM... A reminder that Bacaro and Al Forno are both within 250 yards of Plant City. Hope that these are just kinks in the new venue and that the Pizza does improve, because the standards, opposed to the Boston Globe (which doesn't know anything about RI) are extremely high in this neighborhood. We encourage you to try Plant City out nonetheless, but might suggest Bar Verde over Double Zero read more

So happy that another trendy tasty vegan place has come to Providence and this lifestyle is slowly making a more prominent presence. I live in LA now so maybe I expect/am used to a specific price point and a certain level of atmosphere and ambience- but the place was very well executed. I will say It does suck to have to choose from 2 menus upstairs so maybe implementing food runners and ticket printers to be cohesive with the whole floor would be a better selling point (I can see how this would be annoying to many customers) Having their quick/to go cafe style set up downstairs is great though. Food was great and per server suggestion the lasagna was phenomenal! Very well done nut creams. The eggplant carbona had incredibly complex and savory flavors perfectly light and airy for a summer meal. Christopher v was our incredibly knowledgeable waiter who was so passionate and knowledgeable. Don't forget their 'like no udder' vegan ice cream for a tasty way to end your meal. Plant City - The first level has a café, take out place, mini store and a 'burger' restaurant . Second level an Italian and Mexican restaurant. I think more or less I got all of it right. It's essentially a mini mall for vegans - it has two levels. Double Zero is a restaurant within. I thought both the drinks and the food was good. The service was great. We ordered Truffle Pizza - it was delivered to our table 2 minutes after we put in our order. That kind of put me off because it seemed pre-made. The kale on top was burned. The mushrooms and the cashew cream were tasty - so I would try it again. I also wanted to try Cacio E Pepe. The drinks sounded amazing. I went with the Guilded Sage (Gin, blackberries, sage and rosewater). It was refreshing and delicious. The music was loud - techno(ish) - it was hard to have a conversation. The building was beautifully renovated. It's a clean, chic, modern and welcoming establishment. Bare wood, black and white accents with industrial lightning. Really beautiful. Now, the prices are high - not high for vegan food - I mean just high for dinner in Providence. AMAZING. Honestly the Truffle pizza was probably the best pizza I've ever had (and the fact it was vegan made it that much better!!!). My bf and I couldn't stop talking about it. Our waiter was delightful and the craft beer I had was delicious and fresh. We will definitely be coming back all the way from New Jersey just to have the Truffle pizza again. Best pizza I've had in a while. Cocktails were good, not great. Looks like this place might have closed now.

This is the best vegan restaurant I've been to in years. The food was so delicious I can't even describe it. We ate the "chicken" bbq pizza--it was damn good. We also got the eggplant parmesan which came with some pasta. Omg. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the marinara sauce was *chef's kiss* so flavorful. The eggplant with vegan cheese was heavenly. Finally, we got the chopped salad which was also really flavorful. I wanted to eat everything slowly to savor it all. Please come to this place!! I will definitely come back. read more

My boyfriend (not vegan) and I (vegan) were looking for a restaurant to eat at while celebrating our anniversary, and Plant City exceeded our expectations in every way possible. We ate at Double Zero, the Italian style restaurant, and I was blown away by everything we ate. It is not often where my partner and I can find somewhere that we both thoroughly enjoy the meal, but the truffle pizza, and bolognese were absolutely to die for, not to mention the tiramisu for dessert, AND ALL VEGAN! We will ABSOLUTELY be returning here in the future, and recommending it to anyone, vegan or not vegan. read more

Food was delicious and the service was excellent! I got the pepperoni pizza. The flavor was amazing and it had a little heat to it. The peanut butter chocolate chip I had for dessert was also pretty tasty. My boyfriend also loved his food. He got the gigante bean pizza which I tried and enjoyed. The olive oil cake he had was yummy and the pistachio ice cream was out of this world! read more
