Rating: 4.0 Came to try for breakfast since we are close by and had not tried the place yet. Looks like a local family owned breakfast diner. Seems like there are 2 locations and this is the 2nd one. Small parking lots available on site. It's busy as there seem to be a lot of regulars. When we got there around noon there was some lines. Luckily line moved quickly so we only had to wait about 15minutes or so. Once we were seated we got the menu, some utensils and looked through the menu. One thing i did notice was that they had special menu dedicated to organizations to help those in need and each menu specialized to specific cause. Part of the cost is donated to those organizations. I ended up ordering 3 eggs scrambled, linguica, whole wheat bread, and hash browns. The food was pretty good. Standard breakfast but it was tasty. Service was good and quick. Wait was not too long . This place was busy with a line outside but the staff really moved along their table clean up efficiently to move the line inside where it was warThere's an Honorable Hero's Menu page! Each has a picture of an individual and their causes. A percentage goes to a cause and after reading each one, I felt such an urge to order one of everything on this page. Such a beautiful addition to a menu and inviting way to support a cause. I ordered from the honorable menu a Gianna, two chocolate pancakes with hash brown and bacon. Very crispy bacon and the hash brown wasn't too oily or greasy, very light and tasty! I have a thing of breakfast places being too oily, and this spot was perfect for me. Pancakes were purple! I have no idea why, but it was a fun surprise. Also enjoyed the butter and syrup on the side. After asking the staff, apparently it was Gianna's favorite color and they add food coloring. Very cute! We stopped in during the week for a quick bite to eat. I was looking for lunch, but they don't serve lunch during breakfast hours. I ordered the Wiener omelette, which satisfied my taste buds for lunch. It had just the right amount of filling in the omelette to not be too overpowering and everything was cooked perfectly. 5/5 We also got a chicken sausage, ham, and cheese omelette and I was blown away by the flavor of the chicken sausage. I've been to this Charming breakfast spot around the corner from my house a couple of times. There is always service with a smile which goes along way with a hot cup of coffee and a delicious breakfast. On one visit, My dining companion was gluten-free. He was thrilled that they had many options for him to choose from. The day we dined they had a scrumptious gluten-free banana bread. It was out of this world - and I discovered they also sell it by the loaf to go! I stick to the basics and got egg whites on both visits with toast and home fries. I got a generous portion of egg whites, crispy home fries and toast - brown and buttered to perfection. However their menu is expansive and reasonably priced. Very cute Spot. read more

Some other places have come and gone in this spot on west Shotre Rd. over the years but I think Gel's will be the permanent resident for a long time. Gel's has become the go to for Zvck and myself after the gym (across the street very convenient) and the joint checks all the boxes. Breakfast has everything you need. Try their home made banana bread french toast yikes. Food is always fresh and hot coffee is good. It can get a busy on the weekends but they have a counter to sit at if you dont wanna wait for a table. Staff is solid and friendly and the owner may sit down beside you and chat about the current state of Warwick. Breakfast and lunch and a liquor license. :) read more

Twice I've ordered breakfast & substituted the potatoes for sliced tomatoes. Both times the taste of the tomato is so gross & inedible, not red in color at all, not ripe inside so when they're sliced it's beyond noticeable that they're no good. The waitress replied "I'm not the cook" when my friend said look at that tomato. Well I thought to myself "you are however, the server that served it"! We ordered The corned beef Irish Benedict & my friend got the regular corned beef. The worse corned beef hash we've ever had. We both didn't eat it. Also the sausage was so salty we couldn't eat that either. Server didn't care or ask why are plates were left uneaten. I asked for a refill from another server bc ours never came back until the end. That server ignored my request. I forgot my phone or I would of taken pics. Go to Buttonwoods fish & chips for breakfast walking distance from Gels. They care. 3 stars are the only sincere reviews in my opinion. This place has a lot of knickknacks so that tells me it won't be clean. Bathroom definitely needs cleaning. The unsightly urinal was dirty and right next to the toilet. I will say that the waitress we had was very kind and attentive. Service turnaround time was quick and we sat down right away. The food had that "dirty" taste as though the griddle hadn't been cleaned in years. I couldn't eat anymore than the one bite I had of my homemade corned beef. I live less than 2 miles from Gel's and so have visited a number of times over the last couple of years. The food is typical diner food though the service is spotty and at times the (some of the) waitresses are downright rude. My husband and I are new to the area and decided to stop in for breakfast one morning, I ordered a "burger Benedict" and my husband sausage and gravy with eggs over easy, his food came out cold. My meal was advertised on the menu as having onions and mushrooms on top but all it had was diced onion and green peppers on top and they made the sausage gravy with cut up pieces of sausage not ground pork sausage how it should be made. Also as another review has stated we were never asked if we wanted another cup of coffee to the end of our meal even though the party at the table across from us were asked at least three times while we were eating. My husband and I went in for breakfast one morning and when we walked in none of the staff acknowledged or told us to write our name on a note pad for it was a busy morning. To make matters worse one of the kitchen staff made a comment to a waitress about how annoyed he was that we walked in for breakfast and didn't stay home. She also made a rude comment about it. We had tried this location when it was Mike and Gel's pizza and didn't care for it but when it reopened as Gel's Kitchen for breakfast we decided to give it another try and I am really glad we did. I had the basic ham and eggs with hash browns and it was delicious. Three eggs, potatoes and toast AND it was a real ham steak rather than a few slices of deli ham. My wife had the senior special which consisted of 2 eggs home fries and toast. Very reasonably priced. They use New England coffee which is one of our favorites. We will definitely go back and I think they have a very good chance to make it with this concept. read more
