I'm not sure how this place has so many reviews and still high up there. The food here was gross, borderline disgusting. The fish was not fresh and the seasoning was awful. We could not finish the dishes at all. Extremely expensive for the area and the quality. Never will return.

Delicious chicken soup, with a hearty chicken leg! I always get Peruvian chicken soup when I'm not well and I really needed soup today. First time order from El Pollo Imperial and I am very pleased with my order! I ordered delivery as I'm unwell and couldn't pick up order. Came on time exactly.

Thanks for the good food and service

After a long day in Los Angeles eating around and my son visiting his friends, on our way back home I still wanted to have some Peruvian food since there aren't many Peruvian places to eat at in San Diego. So I searched on Yelp for some Peruvian restaurants and omg there's like a long list of selections of places to eat at for Peruvian food in the Los Angeles county . So I picked the closest one near the Freeway exit where we were at, which was EL POLLO IMPERIAL in Long Beach . Complimentary Bread and Soup was brought out to our table. We tried their bread & butter and it was just typical bread , but their SOUP was delicious, luckily for me, my Son is picky on soups and didn't eat his, so I got to eat his soup ;) We only ordered a few foods from their Menu since we just ate at another restaurant before coming here. What I ordered for us. *CHAUFA DE MARISCOS (SEAFOOD FRIED RICE) *TALLARIN SALTADO DE MARISCOS(SEAFOOD NOODLES) *SALTADO DE MARISCOS (STIR FRY SEAFOOD) The CHAUFA DE MARISCOS ( seafood fried ) rice was delicious, it had good seasoning. Same for the TALLARIN DE MARISCOS SALTADO , it was also good, I like the Savory, Sweetness and sourness from the seasoning on their TALLARIN DE MARISCOS SALTADO ( seafood noodles ) However, I was so dissapointed with the SALTADO DE MARISCOS ( stir fry seafood ) . My goodness it was way too SALTY! I would have told the server about it, but they were about to close, so I just set it aside and ate the Fried Rice and the Noodles . Also, the Cut of all their Squid on all our seafood orders were very THIN , especially the ones on our SEAFOOD FRIED RICE. Other than the issue of my SALTADO DE MARISCOS being very salty and the very THIN slices of squids on all of our orders, the 2 other foods we ordered were delicious, plus the customer service was amazing friendly here.

Wasn't very impressed with the lomo saltado and the ceviche was average. The beef was super overcooked and chewy-- really hard to enjoy. There wasn't much of the soy sauce mix to mix into the rice either. I did however like their aji verde; is one of the better ones that I've had. Without it, I probably wouldn't have been able to eat the meal. I had a bite of my co-worker's saltado de mariscos and it was definitely better than mine.

Amazing food! Chicken soup is a must for those feeling under the weather! I love the fried fish with lentils and rice. We also love the chaufa (fried rice). I guess Peru has a large Chinese influence in their food.

I've always loved this place!! Love that soup and bread!! The loma saltado was good! The fries were crunchy, and meat was good. However, the white rice was slightly undercooked on one side. Great big portion though. They definitely need to update the ceiling and some parts of the building, as the place has gotten old.

Tried the Chicken saltado and it was very homey tasting, came with a small soup and bread and ugh so good the green salsa soooooo good. Definitely going back.

Aguadito de pollo with a healthy drizzle of aji verde is one of my all-time favorite rainy day cravings, and what with the super wet weather recently, I've been really wanting some Peruvian food. My husband and I were in North Long Beach and decided to visit El Pollo Imperial after not visiting for years and years, remembering how awesome their lunch specials used to be. The interior is still the same; several tables with plenty of seating in a casual space. Was a little dirtier than I remember it, but times have been strange. The prices have gone up significantly, with a lunch special costing around $15 nowadays but we were committed. A little steep for a lunch special but you gotta do what you gotta do. The lunch specials include fresh yeasty rolls and aji sauce, which were quickly demolished and generously replenished. The aguadito de pollo (cilantro-y chicken and rice soup with potato and other veggies) was fantastic; give it a squeeze of lime and you're golden. I ordered the lomo saltado and my husband got the arroz con pollo. My lomo saltado was delicious if not potato heavy, with flavorful (yet kinda chewy) strips of beef and a ton of red onion and a small mountain of fries, with a few chunks of tomato sauteed in a salty umami sauce served with rice. The arroz con pollo was a healthy chunk of their pollo a la brasa served with cilantro rice and salad. It was gone before I could try it. The little side salad that came with it looked like it would play a sad trombone if it could, but I don't think anyone expected it to be the star of the show. I can't complain about the notorious big yucky flies, maybe they were all asleep during our visit. But mad props to the little lacewing fly who waited until I was already full before it drowsily dove into my leftovers.

¡Olé, olé, olé, olé... olé... olé!…read more If you're looking for the perfect place to watch a soccer match, this is it. We came for the Mexico vs. Korea game and the energy inside was electric. The crowd, the excitement, and the overall atmosphere made it such a fun viewing party. The DJ really helped elevate the experience and kept the energy going all game long. It truly felt like the place to be for soccer fans. Food-wise, I definitely recommend the chicken quesadilla. Also, the mojitos downstairs were excellent--super refreshing and worth trying! Just note they weren't available at the viewing party on the 3rd floor. Overall, such a great spot for a game-day experience. We'll definitely be back, and next time we want to try more from the full restaurant menu.

First time at Olé Bar Tapas Bar & Kitchen, and honestly, three stars is me being generous…read more The space itself is nicely designed, but we were seated at a slanted table and the restaurant was way too hot. Several tables were literally fanning themselves with menus. Our waitress even mentioned it to the manager, but nothing really changed. That alone made the experience uncomfortable. The bigger issue for me was value. I understand tapas are small plates, but for the prices, the quality and portions should be much better. The calamari tasted fine, but there were a lot of red bell peppers and mostly crumbs at the bottom. The mixed olives came in a very small dish with mostly tiny olives with pits, broken pieces, and maybe three decent-sized olives. The garlic shrimp was the standout and was actually very good. The ham and cheese croquetas were four tiny little balls, about the size of mini store-bought frozen meatballs, served with a little sweet tomato sauce underneath. Not terrible, just extremely small and not memorable. Drinks were mixed. I enjoyed the wine flight trio. My mom had the classic mojito, and my sister wasn't impressed with the mezcal Negroni. The biggest disappointment was dessert. We ordered the churros with chocolate sauce. I've lived in Spain and Spanish cuisine is one of my specialties, so I know what churros con chocolate should be. These were pale yet somehow overcooked, and the sauce was very light brown, extremely hot, and tasted more like butter, cream and sugar than chocolate. To her credit, a second waitress did try to help since our original waitress event to break and was very kind. Since my family had already eaten some of the churros and didn't know any better, she explained she couldn't fully remove the dessert, but she gave me a $9 discount using her employee discount. I didn't ask for a discount, rather to inform the kitchen. I appreciated that gesture, so thank you to her for making an effort. Service overall was okay, but our water wasn't consistently replenished and we eventually had to ask for ice water, especially frustrating considering how hot it was inside. Our bill came out to about $156 for three drinks, bread with tomato, calamari, olives, garlic shrimp, croquetas and churros. For that price, the quality, portions, service and overall experience just didn't match. Nice ambiance and good garlic shrimp, but the menu needs some serious tightening up. Three stars. There's potential here, but right now it feels overpriced for what you actually get.

My boyfriend's brother did the ordering since he's been here a lot. He ordered: Peruvian Cebiche: which was the catch of the day, tiger milk, ahi Amarillo, concha, and sweet potato. It was so delicious! I believe the catch of the day was either scallop or white fish which was in the tiger milk and ahi Amarillo sauce which was a sour like sauce which pairs well with the fish. It was also a great dipping sauce for the other sushi we got. If I could, I would have slurped the whole thing (the sauce) lol. Blue Fin Sashimi: with kizami wasabi and special soy sauce. If you have tried blue fin you are missing out. The sashimi just melts in your mouth and has such an easy chew to it. Sushi Nikkei Tasting (8 pc sushi): consists of 2 pcs of sweet salmon (parrillera sauce), tuna power (parrillera sauce, aji Amarillo, and chalaquita), Parmesan scallops, and Asian shiromi (white fish, Asian sauce, quinoa pop, and lemon). My boyfriend and I had 1 pc each. The salmon and Parmesan scallops were my favorite. My boyfriend's favorite was the Asian shiromi and tuna power. All the toppings complimented each other so well. Who knew?! Acebichado: which was a specialty roll with crispy shrimp, avocado topped with tuna, acebicado sauce, togarashi, and green onion Dusty roll: which was another specialty roll with crispy shrimp, avocado topped with octopus in ninja sauce, Parmesan, and tare OBA roll: which was another specialty roll that had crispy salmon, avocado topped with salmon , parrillera, jalapeno sauce, and chalaquita All the rolls were good and the different sauces complimented each other and the fish. We got there when it was lunch time so it wasn't too busy or too loud. The service was great as the servers always checked up on us. Definitely a must try and we'll be coming back to try the other menu items!

Was disappointed in the service at first since we have 5 people including my 1 1/2 year old son. Host said he only had a table for 4 which I figured was fine with a high chair When I asked the server for the high chair the host ran over saying we could not have it because it was in the way of the server. There was another table on the other end that wasn't in the "walkway" and host said it's reserved even though it was still only for 4. Wasn't extremely busy so got frustrated with this response as at first there was no solution provided. About 1-2 minutes later they offered to combine a third table to "reroute" the server path and we were able to eat with my child. Server and rest of staff were great and turned the experience around.
