My 2nd time at Casa Chaskis. Everything tastes amazing here & the service is great. I had the Pollo Apanado (see pic) & my friend had the Kale (stir-fried) with fish. They grow their own Kale here & have a HUGE vegan/vegetarian section on the menu. The prices have gone up in the past 3 years, but I suppose that's everywhere. A local Peruvian restaurant in Long Beach. We went here on a Saturday around 2pm before a festival and it hit the spot for quality and quantity of food. We got the beef empanada and chicken empanadas. Those were pretty nice portions for $4 each and had generous fillings. I liked the beef one more. The lomo saltado was okay - the beef was cooked to medium but only a little juicy and a bit tough. The fries felt like they were frozen as some had weird texture and the rice is undercooked. I've had better so I was a little disappointed. The tallarine verde con pollo is a pesto pasta with chicken, Peruvian style. I love the creaminess and very flavorful and hearty pesto sauce in the dish. Noodles were of good texture despite it being very hot in temperature. The sangrias were excellent. For $7 it is fair for a nice cocktail drink. I liked the red sangria more. It was fairly strong. Service is good as expected since we were the only table and they made sure we got everything we wanted, on request. Yesterday my wife and I decided to stop by this Peruvian restaurant. We drive by it regularly, and it always catches my eye because of the artistic character outside the building--not to mention we really like pollo inka. When we walked inside, we were amazed by everything they had displayed: little gems in frames, art, ceramic sculptures, and other unique pieces. The food had great flavor, although it was a little pricier than we expected. Still, we wouldn't mind visiting this place again. It was clean, the service was great, and the atmosphere really inspired me to want to visit Peru one day. Parking is very accessible. They have a parking lot located in the back that has a good amount of parking. The inside only has a few tables and the patio is a bit bigger. I do wish we sat outside because it was so hot inside and there were 5 huge flies that were flying around which was absolutely annoying and gross. The decor was very nice though. I took about ten minutes to get our server to us so that we could order. My husband went looking for him because we didn't know if we were supposed to order upfront or wait. We ordered and then it took about 45 minutes to get our food which I'm usually fine with but there were only three other tables there and they already had their food. Honestly everything we asked for took forever. My husband wasn't happy about the lomo saltado. They burned the fries and meat and it was lacking flavor. The shrimp wasn't cleaned either so it was pretty disappointing and gross. We told them about it and offered a 10 percent discount. My husband had ate some already so I'm hoping he doesn't get sick from it. Pretty upset about that. The worst part is the price. $25 dollars for lomo saltado! Definitely not worth the price. The Mrs said everything about the decor of Casa Chaskis reminded her of home. A short drive from our workplace and we were transported into an authentic Peruvian eatery. The first thing I noticed was the lush garden where they're literally growing the food! Dining area is intimate and theres a lovely patio option. Service was super attentive without being bothersome. The server was bilingual and easily answered our questions about the menu. There are some traditional options if you don't have an adventurous palate, but the Peruvian dishes we tried were OUTSTANDING! Friends recommended Casa Chaskis which is how I found myself ordering take out from here on a lazy Sunday night. The menu includes all sorts of Peruvian favorites ~ all versions of saltados and chaufas. I shared the following: -pollo saltado ($13.99): chicken stir fry with onions, tomatoes + French fries with rice -tallarin saltado de mariscos ($19.00): shrimp, fish, calamari, clams, + mussels stir fried with noodles, onions, and tomatoes As a matter fact preference, I like a pollo saltado over a regular lomo saltado. I found the chicken in my dish to be really dry. The pollo saltado tasted a little rough and lacked the saltado flavoring. I also found the tallarin saltado de mariscos to be lackluster. There wasn't a ton of flavor coming from the seafood. I felt like both the saltado and tallarin to be really bland. They resembled their respective dishes, but beyond that, lacked any flavor. I don't know whether it's because I ordered take out on a Sunday night our food tasted so haphazard? In any case, I'll have to give Chaskis another go. My friends and I got the "Lomo Saltado" and the meat was just perfectly cooked. Other places tend to make their meat well done, but this restaurant makes theirs medium to medium-rare- Perfection! I came here mainly to try their Tallarín Saltado de Pollo, and I enjoyed it a lot! RATE: 10/10 My dad ordered Lomo Saltado and said it was okay, but I didn't get a chance to try it and say if it was good. First time eating at Casa Chaskis. We started with ground beef empanadas as an appetizer. The empanadas were so delicious, perfectly seasoned and empanadas were flaky and crisp. We tried the combinado de carne (limo saltado without the fries) and limo saltado and it was prepared very well, served with the Peruvian beans (canary beans seasoned and creamy) and white rice. Our drinks (non-alcoholic) were the Maracaya (passion fruit) and tropical iced tea were just refreshing. I love the Peruvian decor inside and the servers were attentive and friendly and asked if we had a questions about the menu. Had a good, quiet, weekday lunch on their outdoor patio. I'm a sucker for the various rice dishes of a region, so when I read somewhere (can't remember exactly which) about Casa's Seafood Chinese Fried Rice, I knew I needed to stop by when I was in the area. They have a large shared parking lot, and there was plenty of parking when I stopped by when they opened at 11am on a Wednesday. They have both large indoor and shaded outdoor seating, making good use of a corner lot. I got to choose a nice table outside, and was the only diner for my entire stay. It's rustic, which fits the food really well, and the use of porcelain-enameled steel plates and mason jars for water is a nice touch. They have a large menu, with a lot of meat and vegetarian options (in fact, they use Impossible meat substitute in some of their vegetarian dishes). I had already known about the Japanese influence in Peru (and had eaten saltado dishes before), but didn't know as much about the Chinese influence in their cuisine, and this was my chance to try out their rice dish. I also can't miss out on empanadas when on the menu, and ended up ordering some to bring home as well. -- Complementary roll was given first, and to be honest, it may be the thing I remember most about the meal (probably because I was really hungry). The warm bread was perfect with a pat of butter. -- Beef Empanada ($3.50) - it was good, the pastry wasn't too thick, and it had been deep-fried really well. I noticed it had raisins, which gave it a hint of sweetness. -- Chaufa de Mariscos ($20) - a good dish, chock full of seafood (white fish chunks, mussels, clams, shrimp, scallops, squid rings) topped with chives. It was non-descript in appearance (even with the scallop shell as arranged). The taste of the rice was OK...was trying to figure out why this tasted a bit different. Definitely filled me up (as rice will do). The one waitress was super friendly; she was surprised at me being there so early (seems like customers come later in the day). I couldn't help but think what a nice location for a medium sized family gathering the outdoor patio would be, with the various dishes served family style (just like what you would do at a nice Asian restaurant). Chaskis uses Clover as their payment processor, so all forms of payment is accepted at the table, which is convenient. Definitely doable having lunch here in one hour. Need to come back and try their paella and their beans, as mentioned in other reviews. read more

You can bring a large group here no problem. Drinks: Chica morada was on point. So fresh. Helps with inflammation btw. They have plenty to choose from. Inca kola is the best soda if you want caffeine. Yuca fries perfectly salted are great with green sauce on table. Oh they bring fresh bread rolls out complimentary. Ask for their toasted/fried corn, it's a nice snack, or get ceviche, it comes in it. ceviche is fresh, light, and drink the liquid (jugo) at the end. so good. Pescado Frito con Frejoles, we got this dish two days in a row. Creamy and crunchy. The salsa criolo (onion lemon etc) on top was perfect. I have been wanting to visit this place for a while and finally had a chance. We arrived right when they opened so we were the first diners. The decor was quaint and colorful decor and we were greeted immediately. For starters we ordered the beef empanada and the yucca fries with the queso. The empanada was very tasty and we enjoyed. The yucca fries were hot and fresh but the queso was served cold. I wasn't sure if that is the norm or not, but it did throw me off a bit. For the mains we ordered the pescado frito with frijoles and the loma saltado. After we received our meals, I asked for bread and to my disappointment they did not have! He said their supply did not arrive as of yet. That is one of my favorite things to dine on at a Peruvian restaurant with the green sauce. The fish was fried to perfection and the loma saltado flavors were on point. The beef was a little chewy, but still good. Of course we had to wash it down with an Inca soda. For the first time we had the diet version and we liked! We ordered the ice cream to share and it didn't look anything at all like pics on the menu which was hand scooped ice cream in a glass dish. It was served in sealed container with such a small portion. I would not have ordered it I had known. Great service, great food and good music to listen to in the outdoor patio. I ordered the pollo saltado but with cabbage (I forgot the name of it) basically you get marinated cabbage instead of fries. It's a healthier option & it tastes so good. The other plate we ordered was Lomo saltado which was also very tasty and the pollo saltado. For appetizers we got the plantains. We also got two aguas which we're not sweet at all and that's a good thing. The guayabana agua was the least sweet and the iced tea was more sweet than the guayabana but not too sweet. So i hadn't eaten all day and was craving some vegan sushi and being so close to Long Beach I was headed to my usual spot. When we pulled up, I noticed a little spot across the street that looked intriguing. I saw that it was Peruvian and wanted to know that they had! I looked them up and saw that they had several vegan options...including vegan empanadas!!! We walked in thrift parking lot and notice what looked like a garden in very back of the lot! As you make your way in there's a courtyard area for outdoor dining and the interior has a very authentic Peruvian feel with the decor and music! It all added to the experience! When our waiter came over he gave us some background on the menu and what they offer. I asked about a few vegan options to find out that the little garden in the back supples the food for they serve! Second time here and I'm done with it. First time we came it took a long time to get our food. About a 30 min wait. They had people in the restaurant so I figured it must've been a busy night for them. The food was good but the wait was long. Second visit was today. We (wife and I) called around 3 to get FOUR Lomo Saltados and they took our order but the old man on the phone was short with his responses and gave zero customer service. We told him we would pick it up at 6 pm. We were meeting my father for his birthday and Peruvian is what he wanted. We arrived at 5:50 and they said it would be ready in another 10 mins. We got our order at 6 and they gave us TWO Lomo Saltados. We told them we wanted 4...that's what we ordered and the guy at the register said if it was done in the morning then it was another guy. No we called around 3....doesnt matter who took it...it was wrong. We know what we said. Second visit with bad service is now a pattern. No complaints about the taste of food but if your service is weak then the food isn't worth it. If you decide to come here I highly suggest you repeat your order if it's over the phone and give them plenty of time to have it ready. If you're eating here...be ready to wait. Plenty of other Peruvian places to get our food at so we will be taking our money there. read more

I love in the area and was excited to have a true restaurant in West Long Beach where we don't have many options..especially for Peruvian food. This place is true diamond in the rough when you consider the area. The food has been consistently amazing. My go to are the Empanadas and the Lomo Saltado. Their chicha morada is amazing. So, no qualms about the food quality. As far as service, it's fine...people should not walk in thinking they are going to get 5 star quality service. However, servers have always greeted us with a smile and have been very attentive. The unfortunate part for me, and probably the main reason why I probably wont be back, is the way their prices have skyrocketed over what seems like a short period of time. As recent as the beginning of this year, their Empanadas were priced at $3.50 and their logo saltado at about $15-16. I was shocked to see when i ate here yesterday, that A empanada is now close to $5. The lomo saltado costs $24!! I understand that costs go up..I really do, but this seems excessive. And I am not one to tell someone how to run their business. If the rest of you are ok with paying these prices, that's fine...but I won't be one of them. read more

Simply OUTSTANDING , traditional Peruvian food in a quaint and lovely setting. They grow their own veggies outside in their own community garden , which is all kinds of awesome imho. Empanadas for an app we're fried crispy to perfection, flaky crust breaking apart to the touch of your fork - and i love the traditional inclusion of raisins in the filling they did bring out some bread rolls, still warm, with the infamous green sauce , both were great. Lomo saltado was fantastic: well cooked fries, deliciously tender meat, the sauteed onion & tomato were perfect -- LOTS of jus/sauce, which was fantastic as it started to meld into the rice and fries. .... can't wait to go back and try some other dishes!
