We decided to stop by Honduras Kitchen after leaving Tokyo Noir to try their desserts. We sat at the bar and chatted with Maria, our super friendly server. They don't serve hard alcoholic beverages, but they do have an amazing Passion Fruit juice that was extra delicious. Highly recommend ordering one! For dessert, we tried two different items: the rosquillas con ice cream and the apple crisp. Both were really good in their own unique way, the perfect sweet ending to the night. They also have a snack section my favorite! Lol. They were running a 3-bag special on their plantain chips, which are my favorite, so of course I grabbed some to go! Found out about this place from a Yelp event I was invited to. At the event I tried the Shrimp Ceviche and and a few other items and drink samples they had. It left a good impression so I figured I'd go try the real deal out at some point. At the event the shrimp ceviche was served with plantain chips which if you're a central American, it's a nice touch. So for my dad's birthday I figure bring him here since we are central American something he would enjoy. Total bait and switch and it worked because based on what I got at the Yelp event I was expecting the same ingredients and presentation. I'll have images of what I had at the Yelp event vs what we were served. No plantain chips, we got tortilla chip strips, ceviche was more like a pico de gallo salsa with minimal shrimp chopped up so tiny you couldn't even taste it. Not worth the $24 or $25 that I paid for it. Even the ceviche de caracol looked like it had more protein in it than vegetables. Not sure if they're trying to save costs by making it more of a Salsa than ceviche. The waitress was attentive no complaints there and the location is pretty big inside. We were the only table there which I thought was a bit odd but figured maybe we came on an off day. They do have some TVs to watch sports, a small bar area and a little store front where you can buy items to take home. Parking in the area is pretty tough if you are driving since it's street parking. If you're a local walking then you're fine. Would we come back.. nope read more

Wow, just wow! If you want authentic Honduran food, you need to try this place. Many people can't make a good baleada, but these are soft, and they come in many different styles such as with egg or steak. The tajadas are crunchy and favorable with all the toppings. Being Honduran, it's hard to find a place that serves your cuisine. But upon finding this place, I have never been more thankful. The outside and inside is stunning and comfortable, and love the little imports shop they have. The food is delicious and always makes me full, my only recommendation is to add more Honduran desserts. I love to support small businesses and especially those that put people over profits. I heard they closed on 2/3 to support the national protest of a "Day without Immigrants." Lucky for me, they're in my neighborhood! I'm mad at myself for not trying them sooner. The food was bomb af! The service absolutely fabulous, had recommendations and answered my questions. Even singing while she served food or cleaned up. The food was heavy portions. We ordered the arroz con pollo and it was more than filling. Delicious warm and tasty. I used to be a loyal customer for years to this place. But it's time to end that run of loyalty unfortunately. The food has become inconsistent, bland, over cooked, under cooked, rushed, and just down right foul. I couldn't believe what I was seeing and tasting. But after 3 straight times of just below mediocre food I have come to accept that this place has fully fallen off. Last night I had the absolute worse meal of my life for a whopping $70. I can't begin to describe how bad it was. Just know I threw the whole entire order away after one bite. When I have a hard day at work there's nothing like picking up a few on the way home to wash the day away. A fresh handmade flour tortilla, mashed refried beans, crema and crumbled cheese. I add avocado and carne asada. Everything here is good. Arroz con pollo, plantains, you name it. There's good cooking going on here and the employees are always pleasant. The store sells authentic Honduran foods, beverages, snacks and cheese. This place is a hidden gem of the neighborhood. I had tried food from Honduras Kitchen in the past via delivery, but decided to try their food dine-in. It took a while to find street parking for lunch on Sunday, FYI. The interior was large and had fun music playing. The menu isn't too too large, though they do have an extensive list of toppings for customizing your baleada. Service was okay, friendly but a bit slow at times. Prices are fair, not cheap, but portions are relatively generous. We ordered their famous sopa de caracol, pollo mesapa, and one baleada. We enjoyed the complimentary chips which came bathed in tomato sauce and cheese. The sopa de caracol was less hot temperature-wise than the last time I had it, plus the snail meat was softer and not as dense and chewy as I prefer. The pollo mesapa was good, with plentiful plantains and cabbage. The baleada was filling with a nice chewy flour tortilla. Good solid meal if you're looking for authentic Honduran food. The food was really yummy, but I can also see it being underwhelming if you've never had Central American food before - it's less spicy and less salty than Mexican food which most people will probably compare it to. I got the Pollo Guisado with a side of fried ripe plantains. It was really good. Generous portion size. I could have stood it all to be a touch more salted, but that is easily remedied and not a bad thing as most of us could use less salt in our diets. Funnily enough, the beans were the highlight for me. They are seasoned to be a bit on the sweet side which is disorienting at first but ends up being nice. I wasn't thinking when I ordered - I meant to get the green plantains, but the ripe plantains ended up being a fitting treat at the end of the meal. The main detractor is the price.. it's hard to recommend the baleada, as yummy as it was, which is basically a bean taco. For sure go for the 6x baleada deal which reduces the price to less than half. They are for sure worth it at that price. The serving size was decent for the price and I got full from my meal. But I think it could generally be a bit more balanced, price wise. I also love that they use Maritime Courier for their deliveries :) be prepared to look for parking if you're driving into the area. I'm sure I'll be back next time I want a comforting meal, or maybe next time I'm wanting some arroz con pollo. read more

The restaurant itself is nice with some nice honduran touches. Sort of feels like an elevated trucha, IYKYK. The local is perfect, in the trendy area on 4th st LBC. This was our second time eating here. On the first visit (weekday evening) we left really happy ; we tried a bunch of the appetizers and they were really all freshly made, delicious and well priced. The baleadas are so customizable and their beans were delicious. The Honduran beer is refreshing and light (at least three different kinds on offer). The main's range between $15 and $21 (prices are not listed on the printed menu that I have been given), and come plated within at least three different dish components in generous servings. I'm giving it four stars because my fish today was over fried/a bit dry, and the service was much slower than the first time we visited. Kind service. And important -- clean tables and bathrooms.
