This place is great. They have great mariscos. Really good shrimp cocktails and of course the number one reason to go is the micheladas. Every time we go we get a tower the michelada towers are great you can choose the flavoring you want as well as the beer. I always get the tamarind and mango flavor with a negra modelo. The negra modelo cancels out some of the sweetness of the mango so it's not to sweet. This is a tower we got after the Michelada tower and it was just a regular modelo tower. The service is great as well they are always constantly checking on you if you need anything else and it's not only the server but the hostess and bartender that check in on you. Me and my family had been wanting to try this place for a while. We went on a late Friday night, about 9pm. It was packed but we got seated quickly. Music was LOUD and I can't eat with loud music, not sure why. They sat us in the patio and thank god cause the music wasn't as loud. They don't give out chips and salsa which is a bummer. They bring out tostadas with salsa. They were stale so I was already feeling uneasy. A manager came over to make sure all was well with our table and my brother asked if they have chips, he said no but said he would go see what he can do. He came back about 5 mins later and had fresh chips that they just fried up. They were delicious!!! The food was great but the service was the best. Waitress was on point. Food was some of the freshest I've had in all Ventura County. Customer service is excellent. Our waitress was very informative on helping us choose some amazing dishes. It was tough to choose as everything on the menu looks delicious. We went with the agua Chile with the green sauce, and a seafood burrito, which was huge. WOW... El Chilito is by far one of the best Mexican seafood restaurants I've visited. The seafood is fresh and the service is wonderful! I'm from Santa Barbara and when I'm craving a good michelada I won't hesitate to drive down to Oxnard just to get my fix here! It comes in a big mug topped with seafood of your choice. My go-to would have to be the shrimp and cucumber michelada with chamoy and mexican salt. It hits the spot every time! The ceviche is also another great dish! It definitely has a kick so be careful, those habaneros can get you! The service is great! The waiters and waitresses are always friendly and helpful when it comes to suggestions so don't be afraid to ask. They work as a team and are very attentive. They wear ear pieces and radios in order to communicate which I thought was an awesome idea! It tends to get very loud inside, plus, it increases the level of communication between each server and busser and really steps up their efficiency. As a former employee of this establishment I can say that this restaurant is not safe. When I started working here the manager told me that they recycle chips and salsa. I was puzzled by this statement. And then I saw it their recycle meant to use leftover salsa and chip from tables that were done eating. This was not ok I never did that I threw everything away but the other servers would actually do that. And when I confronted one of the managers they said it was ok and that's how they did thing there. I would recommend not to eat there specially when the servers didnt follow sanitation procedures. Also the main chef would use one glove on his dominant hand and then would never change it, he would wash his hand with the glove on. He would never take it off and replace it. Just imagine what really goes on in the back. I would stay way from this place. read more

Not a bad place . Truth is micheladas are bomb . They recently started karaoke here . The karaoke group came here because there old location closed down . So now they sing in the patio . It don't bother me but on this day , the speaker was boring music , then you could clearly hear the karaoke then the musicos were playing at the next table . Are you kidding me !
