Pasta Carbonara
Berta B.

Came here after a friend of mine recommended this restaurant to me. I love Italian food, especially authentic Italian food, so I was excited to try it. I was surprised to see that it was quite busy for the middle of the day on a Monday. But even though it was busy, we were seated right away. The restaurant is pretty, with different flags hanging all around. I like how bright and spacious it is. I don't like to sit too close to other people I don't know while I eat. One of the waitresses noticed that the sun was hitting me, so she asked me if I wanted her to lower the blinds, which was nice of her. After going through the menu, I decided to order their spaghetti and meatballs that they serve in a bread bowl! I had never heard of that before. The meatballs were hand-made and freshly made. The pasta was also cooked to perfection. My husband ordered their carbonara, and I have to say we both knew that their bacon had to be imported because it tasted just like the bacon we had in our recent trip to Italy. Very delicious and authentic food.

First time here even though I lived across the street from The Collection for 15 months. I now live about 20 min away so it's not so convenient. I had to come to Whole Foods for an Amazon return so I decided to stop by and grab a coffee to go. There is a hostess outside to seat you but I told her I just wanted a coffee to go. I walked up to the coffee bar and ordered a seasonal Candy Cane Mocha. I don't need to tell you that it was better than a Starbucks peppermint mocha but here I am saying so anyhow. Ha! The barista made my drink within a few minutes complete with latte art. The inside of the caffe is really cute and now I want to come back to sit down for a brunch sometime. There were a lot of people inside probably still on Christmas break being that today is Dec 29th.

A Must-Visit Family Gem at The Collection! We had a wonderful breakfast at Immigrant Cafe. Despite the house being packed, the service was excellent--attentive and seamless. It's clear why there is so much positive word-of-mouth surrounding this family-owned local eatery. The atmosphere is beautiful; it features a fresh, contemporary aesthetic that feels upscale without being overstated. The Food: * Eggs Benedict: Perfectly executed and very tasty. * Giovanni Omelette: A meat-lover's dream! Loaded with savory prosciutto and pancetta. * Buttermilk Pancakes: Topped with strawberries and Nutella, these were a massive hit with my daughter. The drinks were a highlight, and the pricing is very fair for the quality and location. Buen provecho!

Dined in with my partner and friends on 03/14/2026 for reference to the staff. This is their second location and it's still really good just like the original. The good: Food and the Waiters were good. The Waiters we had were very attentive, checked in on us, got us refills on drink and made sure we were well taken care of. They even accommodated us to a new table (more explained on this below and why I say waiters). The food was delicious, love how the pasta comes out in a bread bowl similar to a pizza crust. The noodles were al dente, shrimp was cooked perfectly. The bad: THE HOSTESS. She was not friendly at all. She had asked if we had a preference of inside or outside, we asked for inside. She still sat us outside. The table was infested with gnats and flies, constantly getting into our drinks. I had politely went up to her after we ordered our food and drinks and asked if we can be switched inside. She just looked at me and said No, I can put you guys at the bar or you guys will have to wait in line again until everyone else has been seated, which at that point the line was picking up so it would be rather a long wait. Why do we have to wait in line again if we were already seated and ordered?! I ended up asking our waiter instead if we can be switched to a different table which two other servers quickly tried to remedy the situation and had said that a table was open for us to move to, and noticed the hostess giving us a glare when we got switched.

Cleanliness: 5 out of 5 Service: 5 out of 5 Atmosphere: 5 out of 5 Food: 5 out of 5 My order: Belgian Waffle w/ whipped cream, Nutella, and strawberries and an espresso martini. Reflection: my meal was absolutely delicious! The other items were ordered by my husband and he enjoyed them as well.

Super cute caffee! Loved the vibes, and everyone was super friendly and helpful. We came during the pumpkin spice season, so there were special items on the menu. Our server was very familiar with both the specials and the regulars. She was helpful but not pushy or trying to sell specific items. I got the seasonal omelette, and it was pretty good. The only downside is that there was a lot of squash in there, and I don't like squash. That's a personal preference, and I should have asked them what they meant for seasonal veggies. Otherwise, if you like squash, it's a winner!

We stopped by for our first visit after our workout since our gym is around the block . We were greeted at the door and seated immediately. Our server came right over and took our drink order. We both got a hot hazelnut latte which was delicious. I ordered a Greek omelette and added bacon. It came with toast, seasonal fruit, and potatoes. It was amazing. My wife ordered the avocado toast which came with a poached egg on top. She loved it. It is a very nice and welcoming atmosphere, great service, and fair prices. We will return soon!

I have tried both locations for Immigrant Son Caffe and something about this one in the Collection is just extra special! I've been a couple times to this one specially and each visit I was blown away by the warm service, amazing quality of food / drinks & I LOVE the interior design / ambiance so much. I cannot wait to see this business continue to grow!

Really? The strawberries for my pancakes (which I got late). No flavor 2 out of 10.

Very disappointed. Spent $90 for 3 people. I had strawberry pancakes with potatoes. Definitely not worth my share of $30. And I had water to drink. Ok pancakes had no flavor had to ask for extra syrup and butter small little cup is not enough come on! The potatoes tasted (and looked) like they were 4-5 days old. I couldn't even finish them they had no flavor. The water which comes in a very nice glass container but it was tap water gross! I say, save your money and go somewhere else, even better spend the $90 on groceries and cook at home!

I tried Immigrant Son Cafe for the first time and wow.. I don't know why I waited so long. We had an espresso martini and a vanilla latte, and both were absolutely delicious. For food, we ordered the breakfast lasagna and the avocado pomodoro toast, and everything was beyond amazing. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, and the staff makes you feel genuinely welcome from the moment you walk in. Definitely a new favorite spot ... can't wait to go back!

This is my Post-breky Waffle Cookie that will be given up.. For you..

Food is magnifique Recommend the Tumeric&GingerWellne$$$hot, SMOKED SALMON BENEDICT, CHICKEN & WAFFLES, and BREAKFAST LASAGNA! Service was top notch. Our waiters were informative and attentive. Ambience is great for taking the family and friends and talking about life struggles, life accomplishments, and life dreams...

Shrimp Fra Diavolo

I have been to the restaurant in the Ventura location, and I have wanted to try this new spot at The Collection in Oxnard since it opened. Finally, I got the chance. When I arrived, there was a long line to get in, and a server gave us a small cup of water (which was nice). My friend and I sat down at the bar, which is good for solo diners or couples. We ordered "Cousin Michael's Carbonara" and "Shrimp Fra Diavolo," along with orange juice (it was fresh, as they squeeze it here). The pastas tasted good. All the dishes were beautifully presented. After the meal, I ordered "Café de Olio," which was delicious. The service was friendly and excellent. It's an excellent place for couples, groups, or families. You can park in the parking lot at The Collection or find street parking nearby.

If you're going to hang your hat on the speakeasy aesthetic--dim lights, hushed tones, whispers of…read moreexclusivity--then understand this: you're entering into an unspoken pact with your patrons. We expect a certain standard, a level of care that borders on obsession. So when I catch Evan Williams--respectable, questionable, but barely twelve bucks a bottle--making an appearance behind the bar, it feels like a breach of trust. A quiet betrayal under low lighting. The illusion only works if the details hold up under scrutiny... and that pour? It broke the spell. And then comes the real offense: discovering that your Old Fashioned--the crown jewel of any respectable cocktail program--are built on bottom-shelf, dust-collecting bourbon. That's not just a letdown, it's a slap in the face. A cocktail like that deserves reverence, not shortcuts. And as if to twist the knife, there it was--a massive can of red maraschino cherries sitting shamelessly atop the bar, like some relic from a dive that's given up on finesse. It wasn't just a misstep. It was disrespect. In a place claiming the speakeasy mantle, details like these matter. They're the difference between theater and parody. The cocktails did not warrant the $15 price tag. Moreover, I would have paid more had I know the class of bourbon upfront. What ultimately redeems the space is its ambiance. The low flicker of the fireplace, the soft embrace of worn leather sofas, the curated hum of music floating just above conversation--it's seductive, even soulful. The room itself is small, intimate--the kind of place where you're bound to recognize a face, or at the very least, feel inclined to invite a stranger to share the sofa and maybe a story. And then there's the setting--tucked beneath a historic relic, a basement bar built into the bones of old Americana. The building dates back to the early 1900s, echoing with a past that deserves to be honored, not phoned in. That's exactly why I expected more from the cocktails. A place with this much atmosphere shouldn't fall flat when it comes to what's in the glass. It's a mismatch--a beautiful stage, but a script that doesn't quite rise to meet it.

The cocktails change so it's always fun to come back! I always try to be there when this section opens. Stopped by the Cave with the family after forced family photos. We recently purchased tickets to…read moretheir "Murder Mystery Dinner" so we wanted to check the place out. In Ventura's industrial area, the Cave is a nice, cozy restaurant that is hidden in the Ventura Wine Company shop. We were greeted by live music which made a lively atmosphere. They have the self vending wine machine with a decent variety of wines for all. I'm going to be honest - I did question the pour size. We ended up buying a bottle of wine at dinner instead and I'm pretty sure that was the economical choice plus it gave me peace of mind. I will say - the plating of the food is strange. Giant plates for small portions never really sits well with me. The kitchen's "thinly sliced" waygu steak was also off putting visually. The Jumbo Scallops w/Leek & Truffle Risotto ($46) is a must order. Scallops perfectly pan seared and that risotto I would eat by itself. The Lemon Chardonnay sauce was incredible. The Slow Braised Beef Short Ribs ($39) was okay. The meat fell apart as it should. The red wine sauce was okay but lacked depth. The creamy mashed potatoes were very good and seasoned perfectly. Wasn't mad that I tried it but would not order again. Wagyu Top Sirloin 12 oz. ($48) was very good despite the poor slicing. The creamy mushroom sauce was perfect to add some flavor but not overpower the protein. The Pepperoni Pizza ($18) was decent for my son. My daughter planned to order the Seafood Pasta until she saw all of her favorite things combined: Mac and cheese, bacon and pizza - the Mac and Cheese Pizza ($21) was honestly top notch. It wasn't overly heavy, the depth of flavor was great and it's extremely tasty. The spicy aioli was top notch. Overall, a good experience at the Cave. I recommend giving it a try.

Out of 50+ reviews I have done, this is one of two negative reviews so it shows that I like to usually give props rather than poor reviews. Our group was seated together once everyone arrived, and we all ordered well within the stated two-item minimum (most of us ordered 2-4 items each). Unfortunately, one person's food never came out with the rest of ours. When we asked about it, we were told it was "coming" from another window, yet someone who ordered the exact same item after us--with the same server--received theirs at least 20 minutes earlier. When the food finally arrived, it was after the rest of us had finished eating--and it was cold. To make matters worse, the food that wasn't eaten was taken away by staff while they were clearing tables. When we asked to speak with a manager, things only got worse. Tracey was extremely combative and unprofessional. She accused my friend of eating the food, refused to address the group, and insisted on only speaking to the person who ordered. She also claimed that when the server brought the food, it was said to be hot and they cleared an empty plate--which was simply not true. In reality, my friend had only taken a few bites, and even a server had asked if she wanted a box--so the accusations and statements being made were completely inaccurate and quite demeaning. We weren't expecting anything to be comped--we simply wanted the mistake acknowledged and handled appropriately. Instead, the "solution" was a 10% discount on that one item (about $1.70), which hadn't even been eaten. On top of that, the bill included an extra item we didn't order, and instead of applying the available duo option, items were charged individually, increasing the total unnecessarily. After we agreed to pay (even the unnecessary upcharges) and thought the situation was over, Tracey stood at the end of our row watching us and giving us a stink eye, which felt incredibly uncomfortable and unprofessional. How would you feel if you are being glared at as if we were in the wrong??? I've worked in customer service, and this was one of the worst managerial interactions I've ever experienced. Tracey was unapologetic, dismissive, and downright rude. No customer should be treated this way. I will say our server was kind and seemed genuinely apologetic, which made it clear the issue was not with the waitstaff but with management. I sincerely feel bad for the employees who have to deal with the fallout from this kind of behavior. The event itself has potential, but the service--especially from management--was unacceptable. I would not return if this manager doesn't get better training and learns that some people are genuinely telling the truth and they should be kind in return.
