    Wet Asada Burrito
    Miguel A.

    * My first visit * I got the wet asada burrito which actually came out really goood the asada came out nice and tender . My wife got a Large shrimp cocktail and gave it a 4 out 5 on the cocktail . On the service we called for take out and the phone order was nice and simple . When I got there food was ready for us. Overall good experience.

I hadn't been here since years ago . Probably over 10 years. They have remodeled the place and it looks different than I remember. Mariscos El Pulpo doesn't have much social media engagement, you won't see much on their IG. Wish they have a bit more social media presence since I had literally forgot they existed. We had the best server . She was extremely attentive! Took the time to explain upcoming specials too. Like on Tuesday, they have fish tacos for 2.99. Which I think is a great deal! I really enjoyed their chips and salsa. I ordered a jaimaica to drink which was not watered down at all. My go to at a lot of Mexican places, the carne asada plate ! Plate came with beans, rice and tortillas. I enjoyed my meal and thought they were reasonably priced. I would prefer another cut of meat even if it meant paying a little more. I really like ranchera/arrachera. Located in South Oxnard, so no great views. Place does have a patio , so indoor or outdoor seating. While we were eating we did have an unhoused gentleman knock on our window to catch our attention for money but he was not aggressive. He was gone by the time we left. I would visit again to try other items.

Shoutout to my friend Erica G (Eri) on Yelp for helping me find another local favorite. I don't know how long it would have taken me to come without her help. Sadly I've driven by this spot plenty of times and I totally regret not coming in until today because this spot has wonderful food, stellar friendly service, and the vibes are very cute inside. This restaurant is actually very convenient to get to and they have their own parking lot which is much appreciated. Easy access and safe. The restaurant from the outside is very welcoming and I like their octopus logo, he's adorable! They have an outdoor patio but the inside is actually super comfortable and family friendly vibes. Reminded me of places I would go eat at in my childhood. I know the hip and trendy restaurants can be appeasing but sometimes you just want that down home style family restaurant that's inviting and a classic. That's the feel this place gives. The music was playing and everyone that worked here seemed in a good mood and friendly. Our waitress was super sweet and very attentive. She took time to answer our questions and also encouraged us to come back for their lunch specials. I liked how personable she was but also she gave us plenty of space to talk and enjoy our meal in privacy. The menu here has a lot of options, I was impressed. Also their pricing seemed really reasonable for seafood and meat dishes. For two people with two sodas and two large speciality plates it was close to $45. Not bad for a fabulous filling meal. If you like seafood this definitely would be the spot for you as they have oysters, fish, and lots of shrimp dishes. However, for non-seafood lovers their asada is good and we heard the chicken tacos are popular. For drinks my friend and I each got Jamica (hibiscus juice) and it was fantastic. Just the right amount of sweet and refreshing. I liked that the flavor of wasn't too lite and really gave that great sweet hibiscus flavor. Nice to know when you don't want alcohol their aguas are on point. For my meal I had the bacon wrapped shrimp. This plate came with rice and beans plus a complimentary shrimp soup. The soup was very flavorful and the sides were money. I loved some good beans and rice and this place has both. The bacon wrapped shrimp were well cooked and I appreciated that the bacon was super crispy! A classic dish done right and super delicious. My friend had the asada plate and she was equally as happy with her meal. They do a good job here cooking everything to order and making it taste so good. What a hidden gem amongst the locals, definitely more people need to give this spot a try. Fabulous food, nice staff, and a welcoming atmosphere - this place is easily 5 stars.

Such a great place to eat, good service, chill vibes Mexican seafood ambiance, good horchata and everything I've ever ordered from here has been delicious! I love spicy and their red salsa is phenomenal!

    Campechana

This spot doesn't have many reviews maybe because it's out the way a bit, but don't let that discourage you. The Campechana was on point super delicious and just what I was looking for and craving. The broth is was very flavorful and delicious, and it had plenty of Shrimp and Pulpo. The Micheladas are on point, the mix was perfect I just added a couple dashes of Tapatio and it was a definite thirst quencher not to heavy. The service was great the waitress was really attentive and friendly made us feel at home. When I'm the area again I'll definitely come back and try something else on the menu.

Went to Mariscos El Pulpo today for the first time. Wow! This dish was AMAZING! Spicy too! It's called camarones estilo el pulpo. Service was amazing as well. Ambiance was very inviting and love that they have tvs up playing. I didn't realize we had this gem in Oxnard. I will definitely be going more often! Thank you!

Pretty good seafood restaurants. They give you large portions on the ceviche tostadas and they were delicious. The campechana cocktail had large shrimp and tender octopus. Overall all was very tasty and server was very attentive and polite. Minus one star because the tables in the outside patio were not cleared so we couldn't sit in the shade and they let people they know by pass the line when you are waiting to be seated.

Pulpo al mojo de ajo w consomè rice beans salad and tortillas

Came to Mariscos El Pulpo for 1st time. On a Sunday morning 10:30. They open at 9 am. Was not busy. The waitress sat us down right away. She's been working here for 15 years and was very nice. Soon more ppl started to arrive. They offer pick up or distancing seating in their outdoor patio or out front door they've set some tables as well. I ordered Menudo, only offered on sunday's. They offer small and large bowl size. The broth was good, with lots of tripe and hominy. Only the lg bowl comes w a Pata and small does not. served w tortillas and condiments. I also ordered Pulpo al Mojo de ajo, it came w consomé, rice, beans and salad. It came w about a pound or more of pulpo, it was tender and delicious. the rice and beans were real good. Husband order Caldo de siete mares. It of course had 7 types of seafood. It too was good. We decided to return and try other dishes.

Don't recommend this place. They gave me quesadilla with expired cheese on it. This place should go out of business.

Legit spot. Pairs well with beer. Fresh. Not the greatest of locations but pretty sure the food makes up for it.

It's the kind of place you stumble into after a day on the water, which actually feels appropriate for a seafood-forward Brazilian restaurant. The problem is the food never quite matches the promise of the name. I lived in Brazil for a while, so I tend to chase those flavors when I see a Brazilian restaurant. This place tries, and the food is perfectly tasty, but authenticity is where things start to drift. The menu hits some expected notes. You'll see things like moqueca, picanha, bolinho de bacalhau, camarão ao alho, and caldo verde. On paper that all sounds promising. But the execution feels softened and Americanized, and the overall menu reads like a curated sample of Brazilian dishes rather than something that feels rooted in an actual Brazilian kitchen. Moqueca itself, the dish the restaurant is named for, should be a vibrant stew layered with dendê oil, coconut milk, cilantro, lime, and peppers, the kind of thing that hits you with aroma before the spoon even reaches your mouth. Here it's fine, but it lacks the depth and brightness that make the real version so memorable. Feijoada shows up as a special some days, which is good to see, but honestly it's the kind of dish that lives or dies by its ingredients and slow cooking. With good cuts and some patience I can make a better one at home. The biggest red flag on the entire menu, though, is what's missing. There is no Pão de queijo. For a Brazilian restaurant, that's almost an affront. Pão de queijo is practically the national snack; warm, chewy little cheese breads made with tapioca flour that show up everywhere from bakeries to gas stations in Brazil. Leaving it off the menu feels like opening an Italian restaurant and deciding bread isn't necessary. Portions are also very American. Plates are enormous. That might sound like a positive, but it often just means a lot of food gets wasted unless you pack it up. For those of us staying on nearby boats in the harbor, hauling leftovers around isn't exactly ideal. None of this means the restaurant is bad. The food is good enough, the seafood is solid, and the harbor setting is pleasant. But if you're coming here hoping to revisit the flavors of Brazil, it falls short. It feels more like a Brazilian-inspired restaurant designed for American expectations than a place that truly captures the cuisine. It's enjoyable. Just don't expect the Brazil you remember.

First, the staff are all so kind and welcoming. You feel like you are having dinner in someone's living room. It is so beautiful and cozy and warm. Perfect for a date night! We came on a Wednesday night and had a reservation and got in right away. We shared everything family-style. Note, the portions are small but the food is delicious and for the price it is right on. Next time, may order two of one dish. We got the cucumber herb salad, the potatoes gravas, the elote corn, the flank steak, and the summer margarita pizza. All were fantastic. Next time, we'll get more than one pizza and may skip the flank steak. For dessert we had the cookie with gelato (gelato is SO GOOD) and the pop tart. You must get the pop tart!!!!!
