The line down the sidewalk is usually always long, and the wait time here is excessive... mainly due to the small interior size of this restaurant. If there's more than 2-3 in your party, it'll be a challenge for them to accommodate you. An overly-complicated ordering system; combined with no attention to detail (my girlfriend's order was completely wrong) makes for a bad experience before you even take a bite. In addition, paying $12 for an omelette and then having it served to you on a paper plate is just... wrong. What's more, they provide you with disposable plastic cutlery that's ineffective. Save your money, and your time, find someplace else. I LOVED my cheat meal! Hubs and I ordered Set A (spinach/bacon omelette with potatoes, an enormous stack of banana pancakes with whipped cream and macadamia nuts, and 2 drinks). Total was $30, which was super cheap (but I guess that is all relative). Food was delicious, but when you eat as healthy as we do the majority of the time, your mind CAN play tricks on you. If you eat this crap every day, you might feel differently than we do about the taste of the food. Food was fine, fruit was ripe but the rest was about the same quality as McDonalds. Nice view of ocean. Utensils are insanely flimsy and break in your hands. Arrived at restaurant a few minutes after the rest of our party had already ordered and were not allowed to order because we didn't arrive with the rest of the group. This led to an incredibly frustrating experience. I recommend going anywhere else for breakfast. Looked up the reviews for this place and everyone had something positive to say. This place is packed and had a pretty big line of people waiting, but it moves rather quickly. We had the Belgium sausage and eggs, with 3-chocolate chip pancakes. My son loved the pancakes and I enjoyed the eggs and sausage. Food was good and service was very quick. Got here super early, like 6:30 am. No line but tables are already 85% full. I carbo loaded and got the Potato, Cheddar Cheese and Bacon omelette with my choice of 3 small pancakes ($11.46 w/tax). The pancakes were nice and fluffy and you get your choice of 3 types of syrups (Coconut, guava or maple). Sampled them all and liked the coconut. Omelette was good & cooked perfectly. Could not finish it all. Meals are served on disposable ware, nothing fancy at this place, hence the "eggspress". Beverages here are expensive ($2.75-$4.75). The fountain drinks are self serve but the fruit juices are not. They come out with your meal. Would I eat here with that long line outside? No way. But I can't wait for the Ala Moana location to open. read more

We just beat the rush and there was a line out to the street when we left. Ordering food is a bit unconventional as a person takes your order and gives you a buzzer when you make the front of the line outside of the restaurant. Nice views from inside, yet it was a bit tight walking in between tables. Strollers are not allowed inside due to the space and is instead kept outside through one of their backdoors. As for the food, it didn't really leave me with a lasting impression. The breakfast rice plates at McDonald's (which is only a few steps away from this establishment) could be considered competition in terms of taste. However, prices are doubled from what you'd pay at Mickey D's. The strawberry nut waffle my wife had was thin, and became chewy and hard within minutes. My sister in-law however enjoyed their spinach and mushroom omelete. But what really turned me down from this place was their use of use of plastic silverware and paper plates. I've never eaten at a $$ breakfast joint that served their food in "picnic-ware". I think I would have never have tried this place, if it wasn't for the hype of the line stretching from outside. read more

I've walked by here several times and every morning there's a line. Usually, I'm famished in the morning and don't have patience for waiting in linueps. It makes me "hangry", get it? Hungry and angry? But I wasn't too famished so I decided to check it out and see what it was all about. At this location, you lineup to the left and check out the menu and place your order with someone standing at the door. Then you go inside to pay and they give you one of those light up pager things and you get into another lineup to wait for a table. One of the reasons that it looks like there is a huge lineup because people are crowded around the menu board, blocking the path to the person who will take your order. Once you're in line, they won't take your order ahead of anyone in line. It doesn't matter if you know exactly what you want. I had to wait behind a family of 5 hemming and hawing and asking questions. In theory, there should be at least a second person taking orders. Luckily, I was dining alone, so there is a wall with several chairs mainly for solo diners, and I managed to get a seat before I actually got food. The light up pager lights up when your food is ready and you either go to the counter to pick it up or someone will deliver it to you if they see you first. This system was efficient on a Monday morning, dining solo, around 10 am, but the turnaround time seemed to be okay, but it might have been just my luck. I only had to wait 3 minutes after being seated before getting my food, but the waits in all of the lineups weren't long at all. I was in and out within 40 minutes, order and wait time included. The food? It was okay. I wanted to order the corned beef omelet with a side of rice but I chickened out at the last minute and decided to go for the portugese sausage with eggs and pancakes. I didn't think I'd eat all of the pancakes but I did! This tiny Japanese lady next to me ordered some pineapple macadamia pancake monstrosity, but it looked so good. Paper plates, plastic utensils, plastic cups, even if you dine-in. bad, bad, bad carbon foot print, that's why I docked a star. Tip: Skip the lineup for a table, order to go and go have your breakfast across the street on one of the tables by the beach. Skip the coffee too and grab an americanao at the Honolulu Coffee Company in the Sheraton 2 blocks down. Oh, and I'd go back for the pineapple macadamia monster pancake for dessert, but not breakfast. All in all, less waiting time than the location on Saratoga for the same product. read more

Waited half an hour to order Corned Beef Hash and Scrambled Eggs with some Buttermilk Pancakes. The Hash looked completely unappetizing, just a blob on a plate. It didn't taste that great either; the only thing that made it palatable was ketchup. The Scrambled Eggs were decent, but definitely would've been able to make better ones myself. The Buttermilk Pancakes were okay, but I've definitely had better. Not sure why this place prides themselves on having Hawaii's best pancakes; I'm pretty sure the Denny's a few blocks away could serve up a better set of pancakes or a larger portioned breakfast meal. If I had to grade this place based on food, flavor, and time it takes the food to come out. It would be an easy 5 star. EASY! But the service is poor. The greeter is rude and seemed bothered we preferred not to sit at the counter. The server did not know the menu and provided wrong information(stated the ENT signature burger didn't come with mushrooms and it sure did)** menu doesn't have this info. Lastly, the staff is not attentive at all. They never came to check on us, no refills, and the place wasn't even that crowded, it wast shortly after 8:00 pm. I'm being generous with two stars. This is a tourist trap with a catchy name. Food is sub-par and comes on paper plates. Coffee is not good. The most satisfying thing they had was the syrup on the table. They claim to be famous for their pancakes. In my opinion, good pancakes can be cut with a fork. These took a knife and fork to saw apart. Tasted greasy like they go heavy on the pan grease. The Asian crowd seems to love it, so expect to wait. If you want a McDonalds breakfast that cost $20 per person and takes 10 times as long, then this is your place. Pancakes were fluffy, but not as amazing as we had anticipated. But we are not huge pancake lovers. After all the hype on Yelp, expected more. My son loved the portugese sausage but his eggs were not done well (ordered over easy). Overall, not our fave meal but would come back for just the H. Loco Moco. Great location though. Always an amazing to eat! The ahi steak, cajun style, is one of my favorites. You choose one side dish of rice, potatoes, or pancakes. It tastes better with rice. Very solid choice for breakfast on the strip In Waikiki, as long as you don't mind the wait- and there is always a wait, which should tell you something- it's good. A wide selection of local fare, traditional breakfast, and mixing of the two. I lean toward the smoked salmon Benedict, but the pancakes are great too.
