I'm giving this place five stars solely based on the French toast. Without a doubt, the best French toast I've ever had. My husband and I fought over it! I would come here again and again just for the French toast! To be fair, we also have the breakfast burrito. I think that and the home fries are closer to four stars. I've had two excellent breakfasts at Eggcellent. Both times I ordered eggs with potatoes and toast--they were so good the first time I had to order them again. Even in the summer season, Eggcellent did a great job managing the wait list, and we hardly had to wait either time we ate there. The service was also very good and very fast. The crab cake sandwich was really good and light filling. The special sauce they make is perfect touch to complete the sandwich. Others with me enjoyed the Avocado toast with fresh lump crab and fresh berries. Good fresh squeezed juice and options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Been there several times and the food, beverages, and service were excellent. The only downside is small space to squeeze everyone in there.

Service was good Food was bad. The coffee was like tea. I got a bagel with lox and the cream cheese was literally half a block of cream cheese not even smeared. All of tasted like cafeteria lunch and it was really expensive. read more

Quite simply not "Eggcellent" in any regard. The food was overpriced, and had little to no flavor. I ordered a $15 breakfast burrito, the eggs were dry, and bland I don't even think they added salt or pepper. The burrito came with hash browns, or at least thats what they were supposed to be. They were really just boiled potatoes that spent maybe 10 seconds in the frying pan, very little crispness at all. The server was subpar, he checked in on us once or twice, however he seemed a bit upset when we didn't want to tip him 18% on an already overpriced, below average meal. Overall I would suggest you just drive through a McDonalds or hit the Cracker Barrel, the food will be better or at least equally as good, and you wont pay an arm and a leg for it. read more

This is the best breakfast cafe in Lewes, DE. Their egg sandwiches are just out of this world! I have never had anything better. The staff is prompt, friendly, and polite. These guys rock. Eat here! We ate here for breakfast every day we were here. They are inexpensive and the food is just incredible. Their potatoes they serve with the eggs are tasty and very fresh too. They will cook your eggs any way you like. You name it, they will cook it. They have all the breakfast meats. I just stuck to bacon. It was great. They cook their potatoes with bacon bits and a bit of seasoning salt. That is why they are so incredible. They also cut them fresh that morning. They serve amazing fresh squeezed orange juice. They even offer a beautiful, tasty, and fresh breakfast fruit bowl. At home, we always have fruit with breakfast. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed this place. We went for breakfast on New Years Day and were warmly welcomed and very well taken care of. The food was fresh, tasty and quickly prepared. We regret we didn't have a chance to try lunch on our short, last minute visit to Lewes. My husband ordered an omelette which seemed to be prepared by a classically trained chef, we are breakfast people and this was hands down the best omelette in our history of 7 years visiting this area. The place is cute, is on a little trafficked side street in downtown Lewes and has outdoor seating. We've eaten there several times in the past but this was our first time this year. It was very disappointing. We got a carry-out order of a Crab Cake sandwich and a Club sandwich. Both rated a C or C- at best. The crab cake was a good size but made of very small stringy pieces with not much taste. The club sandwich used low quality processed ham and turkey and the bread was barely toasted despite my request. The waitress told us that the sandwiches came with home fries, which we like, but to our surprise each of them had french fries instead. Both of us thought that the french fries were the very best part of our meal. I guess that says it all. Eggcellent is open for breakfast & lunch. Maybe it is really just a breakfast place. read more
