Burnt crab cake. Had to cut the bottom off.

Wanted to love this place. Cute decor. Seated quickly. Serving quickly. Chowder was good. Crab cake was tasty.....but burnt. No "I'm so sorry". No, "let me get you a new one". No, "let me adjust the bill" More like "oh, well, sometimes they are well done."

So disappointing.....been here many times and this is a first. Took Mom out for an early dinner; wanted to seat us by the door and I told them that doesn't work. Mom would feel the draft of the door. Moved us to the back while I was fine with. Ordered cocktails, pineapple martini and a paper plane. I wasn't crazy about it but it was just ok. Ordered appetizer of fried calamari and our entrees fish n chips. Here's the problem I'm eating my appetizer and the entrees come out. How?...Restaurant wasn't busy, empty tables and now I have 2 plates in front of me. I usually order a bottle of wine with dinner but I was so annoyed I ordered a glass of Malbec Reserve . I just wanted to get out of there....So disappointed.

We always enjoy the food, especially the shrimp and grits and their crabcake sandwiches! Our servers were attentive and efficient. Ambience is welcome to the shore!

There is a lot to like about this place. Close to the ferry. Happy hour at the bar for those who do that type of thin. Delicious food. Wasn't all that pleased with the chowder. Needed more cream flavor rather than all the fixings. Blacked swordfish was spot on. Wasn't dry, great flavor, and the vegetables went well. Had a bite of the fish and chips and was also good. The two ladies next to me were head over heels for the key lime pie.

My wife, two sons (18 yrs, 20 yrs), and I stopped by Matt's Fish Camp Lewes for a Saturday dinner at 5pm in late December 2025. We did not have to wait for a table, but it got more crowded and busy at 6pm. This is now our "go-to" restaurant for winter off-season trips to Lewes. First, the service is excellent and attentive. Our waiter was happy to explain their daily catch items and the "Baltimore style" option (with fries and coleslaw) instead of the creamy risotto. Second, the seafood is delicious here. My older son and I very much enjoyed the grilled swordfish. My wife liked the fish and chips (with malt vinegar) and my younger son had the lobster roll. Third, it has a clean, upscale casual vibe with kid-friendly options. I assume this place has a long waiting time for dinner during the summer. But in the winter, you're likely to enjoy a less crowded experience.

Third time back to a Matt's Fish Camp, off season here in Lewes/Rehoboth DE. Upon arrival, immediately taken to a waiting table in the back. Our server appeared within seconds to greet us and ask about drinks. We started with a the GL Abellio white wine for my wife and an Allegash White beer for me. Kicked off the meal sharing the mussels with sausage in a garlic white wine cream based sauce, very tasty and enjoyable way to start our dinner experience. Next course we shared the shrimp and grits with a side of dirty Brussels. Wow what terrific platting presentations and the flavor profiles were unique in their own way. What they had in Common was a nice kick, a pop of flavor from the subtle use of spices. Every dish was a winner. Including Umut, our server. Smiling, engaging and the word NO was nowhere to be found upon our requests. See our food pics. Don't blame me if you start drooling

    Lobster roll.

I wanted fried clams, but they only had clam strips, disappointed. So, I got a lobster roll with fries. Their fries are great, as was the roll, very New England, but the lobster was off. If I had to guess, I'd say it had been sitting under a heat lamp waiting for an order. To me, that's unforgivable. Thus, you get a 3.

A great logo on a neat building.

BLUF: Consistently excellent food and service no matter the season or time of day. My husband and I always visit Matt's Fish Camp when we visit Lewes and it's always been excellent. It doesn't matter if it's summer or winter, lunch or dinner, casual fare or a more refined fish board entree, the food is always excellent. Today we enjoyed rockfish and salmon serviced "Baltimore style" which means it came with a side of fries and coleslaw. The service has also always been consistently excellent. So yes, no doubt, we'll be back again to continue exploring the menu.

Nice lil spot. Waitress was very nice. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the crabcake grilled cheese, plus the beer. All very tasty and light. Kids fish n chips was delicious, my toddler did enjoy something else beside nuggets lol. Would def come back and try out more things.

I have been to Matt's Fish Camp in Fenwick and Bethany Beach, but this was my first time at this location. As you can see from my past reviews I have been to Matt's Fish Camp in Fenwick many times where I always enjoyed happy hour dinner or lunch. As I said this was our first time here at the Lewes location. I was here with my family of 14 for lunch on the Sunday after Christmas. They don't allow reservations so we arrived a little after they opened at 11:30 AM. I was here with my family of 14 including 5 children so we had to wait for them to arrange a large table #44 at the left rear of the restaurant. I started with and enjoyed my two Marker's Mark Manhattans up for $12 each and ended with my Thompson Island draft IPA for $8. We shared and enjoyed an assortment of two dozen raw oysters sampler for $36 each or a total of $72. The oyster sampler included Blackberry, Queen Cup PEI, Wellfleet, Tangier, Hollywood and Chunu oysters. My family and I ordered six cups of New England clam chowder for $8 each. The chowder included bacon, sherry, cream and saltines. I enjoyed my clam chowder because it was not very thick and was not loaded with potatoes. My chowder was thinner than other commonly available. Matt's has one of the best clam chowders in this area. I also enjoyed my traditional home made chicken pot pie with a cheddar bay biscuit in the middle for $21. Rachael S. served us very well despite us having five children. My total bill was $497 excluding gratuity. We agreed we would return here again for lunch, happy hour or dinner.

Once I saw shrimp and grits on the menu, I immediately zeroed in on that. I love shrimp and grits going back to my Winchester days. Succulent shrimp, cheesy grits, and a nice porky meat to give it extra character. Here they use chorizo. But ham or bacon are good options as well. I also like that they give you eight big pieces of shrimp. Not like other restaurants that only give you two or four prawns and call it a day. The crab bisque is good too. A tasty soup that works well this time of year. Even though it was cold the first go around, the second one tasted hot and fresh. Of course it would taste good. The Delmarva region is abundant in crabs. Just as I would expect a clam chowder to taste great in New England or Manhattan. One thing to nitpick, it should come with oyster crackers, not saltines. They work better when it comes to a bisque or a chowder. Besides that, I have little to complain about.

Located in the quaint downtown, Striper Bites pays homage to Lewes' history as a former Dutch whaling and port city with nautical themed decor. Large wooden barrels, ship steering wheels, mounted fish and nets adorn the walls and accent the dark wooden furniture and color palette. There is a diverse menu, but when I'm in town with friends and family...I keep it simple. I'll usually start with one of the many beers on draft; check the chalkboard for what's on tap from the ever changing selection. The crab dip is an AMAZING appetizer. Chunks of crab meat are mixed in with cheese, given a quick bake, and served with buttered toast points. Great for sharing. You can also ask for additional pieces of bread (which I usually do) to sop up any residual dip. The bistro burger is nothing fancy...but everything a good pub style burger should be. A well seasoned angus beef patty is grilled is topped with aged white cheddar, bacon jam, house sauce, arugula, and nestled in a briche bun. The side of fries are also nice and crispy. Honestly, I've had the fish and chips, the fried shrimp, and other seafood dishes, and no suprise, it's all good. Service is always friendly, but not always as "prompt" when it gets busy - which in the summer during the high tourist season - but that's to be understood.
