Shrimp Po Boy. Look at the size of those shrimp! The potato salad was also amazing. Everything was delicious!

We tried this restaurant tonight after being at the Sea Witch Festival all day. This was the second time we came here to eat, although the lot was so full the first time that we left and went somewhere else. This time we stayed and were we ever glad. First of all, the food was phenomenal! I ordered their shrimp Po Boy with a side of potato salad. The shrimp on the Po Boy were huge! I've never had shrimp that large on a Po Boy before. Absolutely amazing! The potato salad was also incredible, and home made. A perfect meal for a share over $20. My wife got the blackened Mahi Mahi with the potato salad and loved it. For dessert, she got a piece of their Lemon Crème Cake and it was delicious. We couldn't be happier with our meals, and the service was also on point. I'm only sorry that we left without eating the first time we came here. I highly recommend it.

Read the reviews and thought I would stop in. Was very happy I did. It is a no frills looking place with outstanding food and service. Our starters of Steamed shrimp and deviled eggs could no have been better, the eggs were perfectly cooked with a sprinkle of bay seasoning and the shrimp were large and firm. My crab cake entree came with two large cakes filled with jumbo lump crab and almost no filler. The hush puppies were crunchy on the outside and tender inside. Excellent The grilled scallops were huge and perfectly cooked. They were accompanied by string beans with roasted peppers and slaw made with fresh ingredients. Dessert was one of the best Key Lime Pies I have had outside of Florida. Will definitely stop in again

One of the best meals I have had in a long time!!! I freaking loved this place!! My friend and I were driving by here during the day and she was telling me how great it is. I have had many crab legs in my life but never had the experience of eating blue crabs. I had no idea what I was in for. We called ahead and told them we were coming at 7 and to have 6 large blue crabs ready. The restaurant itself has 5 different dining areas. The bar, and 4 dining rooms. We sat in one that was kinda chill. They lay out the paper to lay your crabs on when you sit down. Our server was great. They al seemed like a family. I had no Idea how expensive blue crabs were but I know crab meat is a high market price. Their crab dip is $32.00 and this not a fancy restaurant which means it is legit. We stated the PEI mussels. They serve it with a whole loaf of bread They were Delicious!!! Then we had Cole slaw and French fries with the crabs. I was taught how to do the crabs and I had a blast making a mess and eating them. They were so yummy and I laughed so hard. I had a chance to meet the owner, Donnie, too. I highly recommend this place whether you have or haven't ever had blue crabs Absolutely loved it!!

Two of us arrived earlier than our third person in the party. But the Surfing Crab had no problems seating us in the enclosed air conditioned patio where we had a few drinks at the end of a long picnic table. We watched as servers busily brought out trays of crabs, corn on the cob, and many other delicious dishes. One look around showed families and groups of all ages enjoying what the beach offers best - a low key environment to enjoy affordable and delicious seafood, chicken, burgers and salads. Don't let the unassuming look fool you! Well worth the visit!

~30 years after being told I could no longer eat shellfish; I recently discovered the initial diagnosis was wrong. Went to Lewes for steamed crabs. We settled on The Surfing Crab. They were packed on a Thursday night! I knew we made the right choice. The Surfing Crab is an Eastern Shore style crab house. You've got your choice of sitting at picnic tables or a table for four. A wonderful "Dive" Restaurant with 5 star food. A perfect atmosphere for picking crabs. Sonia our waitress was excellent. She had a great attitude and knowledge of the menu. The menu is extensive. So many choices for steamed, fried and broiled seafood as well as house specialties like cream for crab soup, crab mac and cheese, the choices are endless. Sonia was very helpful and had answers to all our many questions. She enjoyed giving us the answers. I had the steamed little necks with old bay as an appetizer. They were sweet and meaty. Perfect. We decided on the All you can eat steamed blue crab special. Within 5 minutes of placing our order Sonia brought the first tray crabs out. They were hot, a nice size, heavy and perfectly seasoned. All you can eat comes with Hush Puppies, French fries and cole slaw. All three were a slam dunk. I'd eaten all the cole slaw and most of the hush puppies and fries before I thought to take a picture. The entire of the staff at The Surfing Crab is a well oiled machine. They kept our table clear, the crabs kept coming and drinks stayed filled. They are easy to get too, right along Coastal Highway, plenty of parking. A new favorite for steamed crabs at the shore.

Best crabs at the beach, no contest! Everything is good here but the crabs are the main attraction.

Once I saw shrimp and grits on the menu, I immediately zeroed in on that. I love shrimp and grits going back to my Winchester days. Succulent shrimp, cheesy grits, and a nice porky meat to give it extra character. Here they use chorizo. But ham or bacon are good options as well. I also like that they give you eight big pieces of shrimp. Not like other restaurants that only give you two or four prawns and call it a day. The crab bisque is good too. A tasty soup that works well this time of year. Even though it was cold the first go around, the second one tasted hot and fresh. Of course it would taste good. The Delmarva region is abundant in crabs. Just as I would expect a clam chowder to taste great in New England or Manhattan. One thing to nitpick, it should come with oyster crackers, not saltines. They work better when it comes to a bisque or a chowder. Besides that, I have little to complain about.

Located in the quaint downtown, Striper Bites pays homage to Lewes' history as a former Dutch whaling and port city with nautical themed decor. Large wooden barrels, ship steering wheels, mounted fish and nets adorn the walls and accent the dark wooden furniture and color palette. There is a diverse menu, but when I'm in town with friends and family...I keep it simple. I'll usually start with one of the many beers on draft; check the chalkboard for what's on tap from the ever changing selection. The crab dip is an AMAZING appetizer. Chunks of crab meat are mixed in with cheese, given a quick bake, and served with buttered toast points. Great for sharing. You can also ask for additional pieces of bread (which I usually do) to sop up any residual dip. The bistro burger is nothing fancy...but everything a good pub style burger should be. A well seasoned angus beef patty is grilled is topped with aged white cheddar, bacon jam, house sauce, arugula, and nestled in a briche bun. The side of fries are also nice and crispy. Honestly, I've had the fish and chips, the fried shrimp, and other seafood dishes, and no suprise, it's all good. Service is always friendly, but not always as "prompt" when it gets busy - which in the summer during the high tourist season - but that's to be understood. Every town needs a neighborhood gathering spot like Striper Bites.

It had become a meaningful family tradition for all of us. Just might be unfriendly and coarse treatment We often got from the food pick up area, it wasn't enough to keep us away. During our most recent visit, a roach crawled off my husband's plate. When we brought the food back and try to discreetly inform the manager, manager Lauren appeared annoyed, dismissed the situation by saying it "probably came from the produce," and never once apologized. She grabbed the food and walked away, shaking her head annoyed while saying they would replace it. When I calmly expressed that her response felt rude given the circumstances, she became defensive and downright, rude and abusive rather than compassionate. What happened next was even more disturbing. After remaking the food, Lauren and another manager, Ashley, were seen pointing, laughing, and mocking my husband as he walked away. When he returned the replacement meal and requested a refund instead, Lauren made an inappropriate comment about his anatomy, and Ashley made a shocking remark implying he was abusing his wife. Finding an insect in food is bad enough. Being humiliated and treated with such hostility afterward was unacceptable. After years of loyalty to this location, our family will not be returning.
