A unique spot off the main drag. Chef Wanda directs both staff and customers from a wall to wall open kitchen and coffee area (I saw this in South Boston a lot including fine dining places). First rule: if you're not on vacation time get on it or find something else! They will get to you and you'll probably hear every ticket before yours going through. They have about four tables and some counter seating, we sat at the counter right in front of her. The food is very fresh and tasty. We had a lunch mix of juices, smoothies, a BIG fruit cup, grilled cheese and a tofu sandwich. I must say it was a very well thought out tofu sandwich! Tofu had a turmeric and sort of curry seasoning and was firm and warm. A bit of nice pesto went on with spinach and fresh tomato. Really good. Gluten and dairy free can be had here. There is a crazy atmosphere at this joint. The cook can't be found, someone is singing a welcome at the door, the two front end staff are oddly attentive yet kept forgetting to finish our drinks. A table of 4 was patient waiting yet the singing lady jumped a woman and her two uninterested children ahead of everyone for a quesadilla to go. The cook is unorganized and not serious. They play chill Spanish music which was a nice perk ;) I had the chipotle chicken avocado sandwich on a brioche bun and that was so good! Not spicy at all definitely a honey flavor and the chicken was moist :) My parents had the Brussel Sprouts Cesar which was delicious and fresh. the Caprese Panini was good except that it was served cold (not toasted). We went to Zava's two mornings in a row while on a girlfriend's weekend. We sat at the bar and loved the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff. It was clean and quaint. We were quickly attended to. We ordered the yogurt bowl and breakfast sandwich which were both fresh and very delicious. Very nice portions. The second morning I tried the Americano with cream and it had a smooth and balanced flavor. I would have preferred it slightly stronger, but I'm sure I could ask for that next time.
