Off the Main Street of the crazy Lewes town. Short walk and worth it. Breakfast pancakes were awesome.

We ordered our food for delivery. We are visiting from St Augustine FL and might be our last time…read more Someone suggested we try out this Deli. Service was to the T. Our subs were made according to how we wanted them. The bread is fresh. The kind of bread we miss down south and which we got used to for living in Upstate NY for more than 40 years. We cannot say anything about the ambiance since we had our order delivered. They are generous with the meat for all our subs. My husband couldn't wait to have the photo taken of his 12" sub. This place is definitely worth trying out if you are looking for some delicious deli subs or a must return to place if you are in the area. Support local!

I ordered a turkey breast and my partner the turkey stuffer (Thanksgiving in a sandwich)…read more The good news is that there is plenty of meat in the huge sandwich they call a "small," and my partner said the insides of the stuffer were good. The bad news is that the bread, although it appears to be fresh, is thick, tasteless and hard. I ate half of my sandwich, chewing and tearing at the bread. I asked for extra condiments (mustard and vinegar), but the bread remained hard and overly-chewy. For the second half, I ate the insides of the sandwich (turkey, lettuce, tomato, onion and sweet peppers) and threw the bread away. All of it. My partner took half of their sandwich to-go and plans to skip the bread when they finish it later. A sub shop should have excellent bread. Or at least decent bread. This is neither. I would give the place 4 - or even 5 - stars for the nice size sandwich, but the bread was really a problem for me. The place is clean and comfortable. There's a soda dispenser with free refills.

Words cannot describe this spot and I will be back to add a few more photos. A friend in Milton, DE…read morerecommended it so I made sure to stop in on my drive up from NC. Breakfast was TO DIE FOR and the pastries!! I got one for him and one for me later, which served as my dinner as it was so huge and satisfying. Hey, it's vacation so it's allowed! ha A little nursery on site, an excellent gift shop, indoor and outdoor-ish seating, and clean restrooms. This is going on my permanent travel list for this area!

Wonderful brunch!…read more Stopped in on my birthday for brunch and had a lovely experience. We had the Pistachio Honey Latte, Shakshuka, beef soup, salmon toast and maple veggies. As a Shakshuka lover who has spent time in Israel I am quite picky about my Shakshuka but I can confidently say I was pleasantly surprised by this one and enjoyed every bite! The beef soup was a bit bland unfortunately but the salmon toast has copious amounts of salmon and was delicious. The maple veggies were also wonderful. The pistachio honey latte was perfectly balanced not being overly sweet. Service was nothing to note as you seat yourself and get your own food here but staff was nice. Ambiance was alright, we had to sit out in the patio area which while heated was a less than desirable location to eat but it wasn't bad. Overall we truly enjoyed our time at The Station and will be back without a doubt.

Cute seafood restaurant right on the water. I found the experience very much like one I could…read moreexpect in New England. The food backs it up as well. Once I saw shrimp and grits on the menu, I immediately zeroed in on that. I love shrimp and grits going back to my Winchester days. Succulent shrimp, cheesy grits, and a nice porky meat to give it extra character. Here they use chorizo. But ham or bacon are good options as well. I also like that they give you eight big pieces of shrimp. Not like other restaurants that only give you two or four prawns and call it a day. The crab bisque is good too. A tasty soup that works well this time of year. Even though it was cold the first go around, the second one tasted hot and fresh. Of course it would taste good. The Delmarva region is abundant in crabs. Just as I would expect a clam chowder to taste great in New England or Manhattan. One thing to nitpick, it should come with oyster crackers, not saltines. They work better when it comes to a bisque or a chowder. Besides that, I have little to complain about.

The common theme in many of the reviews for Striper Bites is "...it's a favorite of the locals..."…read more Lewes, DE is one of my favorite places for quick weekend trips, and after visiting Striper Bites quite often, not only is this place a favorite of the locals, but for us "tourists" also. Located in the quaint downtown, Striper Bites pays homage to Lewes' history as a former Dutch whaling and port city with nautical themed decor. Large wooden barrels, ship steering wheels, mounted fish and nets adorn the walls and accent the dark wooden furniture and color palette. There is a diverse menu, but when I'm in town with friends and family...I keep it simple. I'll usually start with one of the many beers on draft; check the chalkboard for what's on tap from the ever changing selection. The crab dip is an AMAZING appetizer. Chunks of crab meat are mixed in with cheese, given a quick bake, and served with buttered toast points. Great for sharing. You can also ask for additional pieces of bread (which I usually do) to sop up any residual dip. The bistro burger is nothing fancy...but everything a good pub style burger should be. A well seasoned angus beef patty is grilled is topped with aged white cheddar, bacon jam, house sauce, arugula, and nestled in a briche bun. The side of fries are also nice and crispy. Honestly, I've had the fish and chips, the fried shrimp, and other seafood dishes, and no suprise, it's all good. Service is always friendly, but not always as "prompt" when it gets busy - which in the summer during the high tourist season - but that's to be understood. Every town needs a neighborhood gathering spot like Striper Bites.

I saw they were inland which I like. I try to avoid the neon wharf spots and I was so happy. I sat at the bar, which was full of welcoming locals and a tired traveling clown (me). The gravelly-voiced owner of I thing third generation paused a few times between sending out trays of steaming crab. He was a perfect blend of warm-hearted welcoming and hard-bitten tyrant. I went for the all you can eat feast at $69 (prices always subject to change) which comes with fries, hush puppies and coleslaw. I was assured the sizes were running large and it wasn't just a line. I was happy with the mediums. All I can say is they do crab RIGHT here. Fresh steamed ONCE so the meat is incredibly moist and succulent. And they just kept coming in trays of four. I ended up having a dozen which made it a deal at $69 compared at the price of a dozen à la carte. But who cares?!? They are blue crabs steaming and fresh and it was a feast. Side dish commentary: the fries are excellent. None of this cardboard tasting shoestrings. They were thick cut with skin on! The hush puppies classically tasty and the Cole slaw was not over dressed. Bonus!!! I can't wait to go back and try the she-crab soup and the bread pudding (highly recommend by my neighbor at the bar who is a local restaurateur).
