My sister and I decided to stop by here for a late breakfast on Tuesday. I have been to the Egg Shop in Manhattan years ago but did not remember whether or not I enjoyed their food and I guess there was a reason why. First off, I will say that this restaurant was very cute and aesthetically pleasing and our waitress was great but we didn't enjoy the food. It wasn't bad but it wasn't satisfying I will say. We ordered an iced coffee, fresh watermelon juice, a brioche French Toast, the BLT Benedict and the truffle hash brown. The coffee was okay. The watermelon juice... not so much. $7 for a small glass that was 3/4 filled. Honestly was not even expecting it to be so small. Not worth it! The brioche French Toast was quite disappointing. I love brioche because it is very moist and soft. This dish however was none of that. The corners were dry, the middle was better but it wasn't moist, it had more of a soggy texture. It tasted pretty good with the strawberry sauce but it could have been better. My sister had the BLT Benedict and she said it was just okay. Wasn't anything special. The truffle hash was pretty good. Very nice and crispy on the outside with a good aloof of cheese but even then, it wasn't anything spectacular. It also lacked the truffle taste. Overall, we were not satisfied with our meal. It wasn't as we imagined. Nothing really triggered our taste buds. The restaurant is very nice and clean, instagram worthy but I don't think I would want to come back. I would rather have breakfast/lunch elsewhere. read more

We went on a Friday mid-morning (I think) and it was pretty chill - no line, no wait, no crowd. We were seated immediately and enjoyed coffee and their biscuit with jam. I ordered the Spandex (poached egg with miso, quinqua, kale, avo, pickled veggies and tons of other things). It was exactly when I was looking for before a long day exploring NYC's east side on foot. My wife ordered one of the breakfast burritos and enjoyed hers as well (though she did let me know it was quite spicy). they did the whole rigamorale of asking for vaccine card AND I.D. (fine, fine, good on them) but did it in an annoyed sort of way, like they wished I hadn't shown up at all to bother them, then...sat me right on top of another table (when there were plenty of other empty tables nearby with more distance?) ...it made no sense. This other table got so uncomfortable they all put their masks on and asked to be moved which made ME feel so awkward. Ugh. Shouldn't have happened! On top of that, this is the first time in dining out history I had to hunt down my credit card and manually remove it myself from the machine, since it wasn't returned to me with my check, and there wasn't a server in site to ask, and it was just sitting there in the machine, and I wanted to go home! FOCUS, GUYS! FOCUS! The food is mostly delectable. They do inventive things with eggs and bacon and cheese. Sandwiches crumble easily, however, they don't hold themselves up well, and many a gourmand would dock a star for that alone. And it never feels quite enough, each plate should come with a side, or something; every dish feels very spartan, unless you order additional items. They make a great Bloody Mary, however, and I love that they have an Arnold Palmer on the menu. Lone server there, this sweet guy, who is the only one who ever seems to be doing any work, (at least during the week), is really great, and they don't rush you in any way. I never get ketchup, I always have to ask and wait a beat, there's only hot sauce on the table which I will never find not strange. The front door is heavier than the vault to the U.S. Mint, giving the impression the place is closed -- unless you push & heave. How many customers have they lost over this? After years, they still have never addressed this which is both comical and slightly alarming. Remains a good lunch spot, but they're all ready to gtfo by like 2:30 pm, so if you want to go, make it an early lunch. read more

I'm already sold. We had arrived around 2 and were seated immediately. The interior was of the restaurant was so cute - everything down to the napkins was egg themed. To start, we ordered our drinks. I got the iced almond matcha latte, my friends got the matcha spritz, lavender latte and cold brew. We are all very pleased with our drinks. Food did not take too long to arrive and service was spectacular. I got the scrambler and added avocado. My friends ordered the ricotta toast, fish out of the water and a burger of some sorts. We all split the honey butter biscuit because how could we pass it up! Glad we didn't because it was so delicious, was almost like a dessert. I really enjoyed my meal here. I tried their 4 cheese sandwich and fried chicken bites. Their fried chicken bites were great, would order them for a second time. But their 4 cheese sandwich was overly greasy. Eggs are one of my favorite foods so we had to xhexk this place out when we were in the area. We popped in on a Saturday around noon and while relatively full we were seated immediately. Servers were friendly and attentive. After much deliberation hubby and I both ordered the Smoked Salmon Benny on "Dam Good English Muffins". Our food came out relatively fast and looked beautiful. They didn't lie about the English muffins, they were "dam" good. Eggs were poached to absolute perfection. The hollandaise was my least favorite part of the dish, a little too vinegar forward but I still cleaned my plate. Ah Egg Shop, I remember this being a NYC brunch staple for me. Two years and one whole pandemic later I found myself visiting this spot again. We had reservations for 12:30 and were seated pretty quickly after showing the whole vaccination/ID card. The outside is a little hidden as in not super obvious sign wise. The inside of this place is super cute and tropical, however, I will say that you're seated very closely to other tables so keep in mind if you're not comfortable with that. The service was quick and pleasant. Drinks: I got an oat milk latte which was great. Food wise you MUST get the hashbrowns, it's only two pieces but they're pretty large and good to share with someone else. I got the A.E.C with a gluten free muffin, which was amazing. I will flag that the first time my sandwich came out I was dubious it had a gluten free muffin so I had to ask the server (different from the waiter we ordered from who repeated that I ordered a GF s) and he was like oh no it's not - didn't apologize or anything and just came back with a new sandwich. So definitely keep an eye out if you have an allergy/intolerance etc. My friends got the scrambler and loved it as well as the special which was made with a hash brown base instead of using bread. I will say that this place is kinda pricey for what they serve; like the meal feels incomplete and not as filling. If they offered a side of potatoes or some greens on the plate it would complete the meal and would be worth the money. Nonetheless, this is definitely a great place if you like eggs, gramming your food and want your typical NYC brunch fare. read more

Egg Shop is the kind of place that makes me feel old and out of touch. Why would I pay such a crazy price for eggs? Is this what the NYC brunch world has come to? Okay, okay, so their menu has some creative elements, and by all accounts, the photos on Yelp show a very stylish, hip spot where you could have a very Williamsburg kind of brunch experience. But I can't bring myself to pay these prices for a tiny egg sandwich. The Hot Chix, with fried chicken, an egg, and some other accouterments (cucumber, carrot, aioli, jalapeño) was $14 and left me hungry. I also snagged a few bites of the B.E.C., with egg, cheddar, bacon, and a nice tomato jam for $10, but - gah! - I can't take it. Give me more sustenance! There wasn't anything special about the ingredient quality. This experience reinforces one of the other things I really miss about NYC: cheap breakfast sandwiches from a bodega. read more

I came here with some friends after going to the Smorgasburg on a Saturday. I love anything with eggs so I was very excited to try this place. I got a custom egg sandwich with buttermilk biscuits and it was delicious. I think the portion was just enough for me, but my guy friends who came with me thought it was not really filling. I think it's the exorbitant pricing for egg dishes that really don't blow your mind. Sure, go ahead and charge me $13 - $15 for this breakfast staple, but at least make it the best version of its kind that I've ever eaten (or at least one of the best), but unfortunately it doesn't quite hit the mark. We came in as a group of five for brunch and had a short 10-minute wait to get in. The menu here looked delicious with some fun dishes. Most of us ordered cocktails and loved them, though I have to say they were very expensive. I ordered the Mustache Rye'd ($14) and was impressed. I ordered the Hot Chix [A] for brunch, and thought it was very good. The others in our group were disappointed. Two ordered the Pepper Boy ($13.50) which had an option to have it served inside a bell pepper or on a panini roll. Both chose the bell pepper option. The portion when it came out was shockingly small - one person was laughing. Another ordered the Avo & Egg and was immediately disappointed and had wished they ordered the Hot Chix. Overall, the atmosphere was nice, there wasn't too long of a wait, and the menu was varied with interesting, novel items. However, the cocktails were very pricey for a brunch place. I saw egg shop on social media. It looked good and very aesthetic (you know...) so I wanted to check it out. We went on a Saturday morning around 9:30am as a party of 2. There were probably only a few other groups of people there, the store was primarily empty at that time. Food = 3/5 Their menu is simple - everything features egg! I couldn't decide on which thing to get so I asked the server for their opinion and what is the most popular. I ended up getting their EGG SHOP B.E.C. = bacon egg cheddar since the server said it was their signature. The panini roll was soft and well toasted. Their flavors were good and their picked jalepenos in it was not quite spicy so I added in some hot sauce. The dish was rather small in my opinion and $10 was a little overpriced for it. Atmosphere was 4/5. Their interior is bright and open and I love how they incorporated egg themed things in their decor! Service was 2/5: The restaurant was fairly empty when we went. But after ordering, our food didn't come for at least 30 minutes. We were getting really hungry and confused because eggs don't take THAT long to cook. When we flagged down the server (we had trouble even getting their attention since they were just talking to amongst themselves), she apologized and said the kitchen lost our order so they are working on it. It didn't seem very likely and believable to us since when we ordered, there weren't very many people in the restaurant so the kitchen could not have been busy. After our street art tour around Brooklyn, we headed over to Egg Shop for lunch and it was so worth it. This cafe was recommended to me by a friend, who said it was one of her favourite places. The sandwich bun was sweet and pillowy, broken egg yolk was barely set so that you still get soft yolk without it dripping out of the bun. Spice level was well balanced. Get you one. We came in on Sunday morning around 9:45 and had no problems getting a table. Host and wait staff were very friendly. Coffee was good. Biscuits were more like a large drop biscuit with crunchy exterior and crumbly interior. I liked the side of fried chicken (2 pieces). It was boneless and I wonder if it was maybe a thigh? Or thigh and a tenderloin? It was well seasoned. My husband isn't a big fan of honey so he wasn't crazy about it drizzled all over the butter for the biscuit and on the fried chicken, haha. Egg Shop is... dare I say... fantastic?? My friend and I were in Brooklyn for the afternoon, and I have been meaning to try Egg Shop out for years, so I finally made it there. The wait wasn't too long, and we were able to sit inside on a very hot day. The service was slightly slow, but it was a super busy Saturday so that was expected. I ordered the ricotta eggs on toast and maaaannnn they were delicious. And bonus fun: before our meal came to the table, a server came boppin around passing out fresh handmade tortillas hot off the grill.
