Must have had minced celery because the drink had a backend taste of celery. We then ordered our breakfast. 2 minutes later my Bloody Mary was at my table!! So quick! Tasty! About 10 minutes later our breakfast arrived. I got the Pork belly Benedict. My husband got the Chakchouka. Beef in a Tomato & Bell Pepper Stew, two eggs cracked on top, & baked. This is a Tunisia dish. Very tasty!! Comes with two pieces of bread to sop up the broth at the end. My dish was much more subtle but still delicious. Had two poached eggs over sweet and very moist cornbread. With the hollandaise over that and crispy sweet pork belly. OMG heaven! With an order of sparkling water and a coffee to go with two shots of espresso the bill with tip out the door was $56 for two. Worth it for me but hubby said it's on the high end. Once inside restaurant, the staff is very accommodating. The restaurant is a mix of industrial and antique American items from the 50s and 60s. It is a bustling restaurant serving up some tasty egg entrees. The menu is somewhat confusing as you don't quite know what you will be getting. Their entrees are different than most restaurants. You can order off the ala carte menu for traditional items such as bacon and eggs. I had two poached eggs over strips of grilled pork on hash. I did not know quite what I was going to receive, however it was excellent. My son had two eggs over tortillas and several other items and they were also excellent. My wife ordered off the ala carte menu and her bacon and eggs came out exactly as it were ordered. Egg is a great place to stop for breakfast. I think you will enjoy your meal, surroundings, and service staff. As a small, crowded weekend pop-up inside Spare No Rib, I wasn't convinced that Egg would meet all the brunch hype it's received. ... and when there was a twenty minute wait for a table, I was even more skeptical that it would live up to its reviews. The host literally pushed tables together and made us a 5 top. The server came over immediately and took our orders. The food then arrived within like 10 minutes! Thank you Egg for making a bad situation much better. That's great customer service. Now for the food. I ordered the Pork Belly Eggs Benedict and a half order of their Brioche French Toast to share. The Benedict is unique in that it's severed over a slightly sweet cornbread instead of an English muffin. I was wary as I'm a true southern gal and don't like any sugar in my cornbread. However there was just a hint of sweetness and it was a nice complement to the savory pork belly. The french toast was AMAZING! It comes loaded with fruit compote and mascarpone cheese...so good! The hot Espresso Martini is to die for folks. Seriously order one...or two! ;-) Overall we had a great experience at Egg despite the wait time hiccups. I'll definitely try it again, but may come earlier to try and avoid the crowds. My only suggestion is that they should consider expanding or moving to a larger location. The ambiance is very industrial and bright. It really works for the location and temper of the space. I had the cornbread Benedict with pork belly, and sides of potatoes and chorizo. Washed it down with coffee and a mimosa. The Benedict dish was nearly perfect. Poached eggs on pork belly and a slightly sweet cornbread topped with hollandaise. Just absolutely DELICIOUS. The potatoes were southwestern with onion and red bell pepper and crispy diced. Crunchy and good. The chorizo perfectly complimented the eggs and cornbread and went nicely with the potatoes. Liked the coffee too. Had a bit of chickory flavor it seemed. The staff was friendly and the owner/chef came and chatted with us and was very pleasant. He even discussed horseshoes with us after finding out we came from the Springfield IL, area. He said he's added a horseshoe to his menu in the past and got great feedback on it. Very nice!
