We went for breakfast on a Sunday morning, planned it to arrive when they opened at 9:00 as did other folks. The place filled up fast! We walked in and were greeted and seated right away. The space is open with high ceilings and tall windows. Lots of art on the walls, available for purchase. Service consisted of a few different servers; all were efficient and friendly. We took a bit to figure out what we were ordering but our server was ready when we were. I was leaning towards the Chakchouka but at the last moment decided on El Cerdo - Carnita potato, spinach, corn, jalapeno, and 2 poached eggs covered in tomato-chipotle salsa. Coffee was hot and fresh and kept refilled. When my dish came out, it was so delicious looking! Turns out it tasted so as well! The eggs were cooked perfectly and the combination of all the ingredients mixed well together. I loved the hint of jalapeno throughout. It will be hard not to order this again. The building is a shared space, and the restroom is down a hallway. It was clean and well stocked. They have another location but haven't visited as of yet

I came here for brunch with my Dad, bonus mom and sister because I saw they had a frozen espresso martini, and I have to try it. They had a small weight but nothing too long maybe five minutes and then we were seated. This place is small, but cute and the service was great. I loved the frozen espresso martini and the food was cooked to perfection. Next time I'm home I will visit.

Egg is the perfect name for this Benton Park spot. Eggs as a food staple seem simple and straightforward, but they're almost magical in all of the ways they can be used. From the outside, Egg the restaurant looks unassuming, but the moment you open the door and see the lovely and interesting decor and smell the aromas from the kitchen, you know it is something special as well. The owner is very welcoming, as if he is inviting you to his home, which is lovely. We ordered the Chakchouka with merguez and the ojja with shrimp. Both were completely delicious. I added a turmeric latte, which was unique and so warming. There are so many more items on the menu I want to try, so I know I'll be back soon--but it'll be hard for Mr not to order the ojja again; it was so good!

I'm obsessed with Egg. I frequent both locations. When I am looking for some great food to help me feel happy, Egg is one of the first thoughts that comes in my mind. I love bringing people here. I always get great service and the food comes out fast. There is commonly plenty of room at the bar, if you can't get a table. One thing that I like about this location is the look of the place - it's small, but the artistic nature of it is visually pleasing.

Always a great brunch spot! Love the food and atmosphere. Small menu but they do everything 10/10. You can't go without getting a Benedict... Specifically the pork belly one. It's on top of corn bread and will change your life.

Great food. Service was excellent. We got here at about eleven on a Tuesday morning and were seated quickly. The server was attentive and very helpful. Had a salmon omelet, mussels and grits, French toast, and the cornbread Benedict. All of the meals were excellent.

Ask about the special! Shrimp and grits was not on the menu but it was an eggceptional special. The shrimp were cooked perfectly but could use 2 more pieces. It's flavorful and slightly spicy. My first visit but not the last. All the dishes that came out were a big portion. The service was good. There is no cold/ice coffee. They serve alcohol with bar seating. A bit small, not best for a large party. They opened at 9am and full by 10.

It was so delicious! I can't wait to go back and try something else on menu. It all looked and smelled incredible.

I got brunch at this place recently with a friend on a Sunday morning around 10. She had the mahi-mahi Benedict and I had the cornbread pork belly Benedict. Neither one disappointed. I'm not a big fan of breakfast potatoes but I do love theirs for some reason. Our server was also the bartender and while he wasn't super friendly, he was attentive and took care of everything we needed. The only minus to this place is they don't have a solid host game. When you walk in, no one tends to pay attention or come over to seat you. I walked and waited for a few minutes, then walked up to the bar and asked if bar was open seat seating and he said no sorry though please wait to be seated sign isn't up. He seemed slightly annoyed that I even asked, but I had been standing there for a few minutes and I know he saw me. He immediately said to me at a table, but the people behind me were all still just standing there and he did not even address them. I get it. He was kind of the only one available, but I would at least yell to the people at the front, I'll be right with you so they at least feel acknowledged.

Lovely service from a great server who gave my party a complimentary shot of the good stuff. We came at a great time when it wasn't busy, enjoyed ourselves and the delicious food. Will go again, and again, and again. The Best Brunch Spot in STL

Tostadas with chorizo. The Verda sauce on top was spicy but once mixed in with the beans and egg yolk mellowed to just a flavorful spice.

Brunch after Tower grove market. A easy drive from the park. Sign/location a little difficult to see from the street. Cosy seating. Aztec art. Service was friendly and quick with seating, drinks and food. Meals ordered- tostadas, pulled pork hash and French toast. The French toast was fluffy and sweet and a great chase to the more spiced and savory items.

There is a one person unisex bathroom. They have an entrance with a few steps or a full ramp to enter. It is street parking only and I've always been able to get a close parking spot as many residents in the neighborhood walk there. There are scattered tables throughout the restaurant. There are plants in the front window, local artists artwork on the wall for sale and a glass case full of goodies. You order at the counter and they bring your order to the table when it's ready. On this visit, I ordered a breakfast bowl that had potatoes, eggs, cheese, spinach and tomatoes, with a side of toast. I also ordered a black pepper & rosemary scone, and a cold brew coffee. Everything was absolutely delicious. Besides this establishment having a wonderful and welcoming vibe, the staff is top-tier. They were so incredibly kind, friendly and patient. The staff is always friendly and helpful, the food comes out quickly, and the shaded patio is a great place to sit and enjoy your meal. The espresso shake was absolutely delicious, but the Lou Melt was the standout of my visit. The bread had the perfect crunch on the outside while staying soft on the inside, and unlike many steak burgers , it wasn't greasy at all. The French Dip was just okay. It could have used a bit more flavor, and I wish there had been more meat on the sandwich. The bread, however, was fresh, airy, and incredibly soft, which helped make it enjoyable. The Caesar salad was another highlight. The kale was massaged just enough to make it tender while still keeping a nice crunch, and every bite left me wanting more. The Greek salad wasn't quite as memorable. The dressing tasted mostly like oil with only a slight hint of vinegar, so it felt like it was missing the bold, tangy flavors I was expecting. I also ordered an iced vanilla latte, which was excellent. It was smooth, not overly sweet, and didn't have the bitter taste that some coffee drinks can have. Overall, Mokabe's offers a warm, inviting atmosphere, consistently friendly service, and a menu with several standout items. While a couple of dishes could use a little more seasoning, I'd happily come back for the Lou Melt, Caesar salad, coffee, and the overall experience.

I was already familiar with Upshot Coffee's game from a visit to their Clayton location a few weeks…read moreago. I tried the breakfast burrito, and it honestly changed my life. I was able to get off drugs and reconnect with my family as the result of eating a burrito. You can imagine my excitement, then, when it was announced that a group I run with was meeting at this Tower Grove South location. I wasn't crazy about getting up early the day after America's 250th birthday, and there was the slight possibility that I'd barf during my run around Tower Grove Park (people might think I was back on drugs), but I was willing to risk it for the, erm, burrito. Actually, it occurred to me that I might try something else, for the sake of citizen food journalism. Then my decision was made for me when I saw that they carry a bagel with lox. I've eaten literally a million bagels with lox, going back to the 1980s, but only either at home or at places that aren't very good, like Einstein Bros. Alas, I was informed that the bagel with lox was currently unavailable, because they were out of lox. Which struck me as odd, given that lox is not served fresh. It's not like they had to go pull it out of the water that morning or have it flown in from Alaska, packed in ice. Was there a run on the lox due to a nearby media-industry convention? Did they accidentally leave it sitting out overnight? I imagine that would smell crazy. I went with the Everything, which may have been the better choice anyway. Named after the famous bagel seasoning, it's essentially a bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel with cream cheese and a tomato. But describing it that way doesn't really do it justice. You have to attempt to wrap your lips around it in order to truly appreciate it. No Diddy. It's the bagel-sandwich equivalent of their legendary burrito, and it might be just as good. The bacon and egg are perfectly cooked, with the egg just slightly underdone and the bacon nice and crisp but still with a little bit of chew. The helping of cream cheese is weirdly generous, to the point where just the cream cheese on a bagel would be a fairly substantial sandwich. The tomato, which was a little bit tart, made for a nice accent. It comes wrapped in one of those diapers they used to use on some of the bigger burgers at Hardee's, to keep it from falling apart the moment you try to bite into it. You'd still eat all the individual elements using your fingers, because you're a savage and because they're that good, but it wouldn't be the same. It's a testament to the thoughtfulness and the ingenuity of the kitchen staff at Upshot that they thought to do that.
