bacon egg and cheese bagel sandwich
Jordan L.

This place is small, but cozy, and the staff welcomed us with smiles. Girl, that bacon egg and cheese bagel was so damn good. Salty, hot, crisp. Everything I want for a breakfast sandwich. The warm cream cheese took me a second, but it was too good to care. I wanna come back and try the coffee!

Such a cute little gem! We just needed a quick bite and caffeine before hitting the road--and this place delivered. The food was tasty, the coffee was strong (bless), and the service was warm and welcoming. Honestly, it felt like a hug in café form. Will definitely stop again when we're in town!

I love that this shop exists in STL. I went to college in Miami and this is a real mix of Cuban and Colombian style breakfast that I experienced. The prices are very reasonable and the Guava Pastelito was AMAZING

Ropa Vieja

So, based on the reviews, I was expecting a tad bit more flavor. Got myself a Bloody Mary which was okay. No accoutrements at all though... I ordered the Ropa Vieja and it was good, but not great. The tater tots had the most flavor (probably the oil...). It's a pretty small place and they served everything in bags, as if they're wanting you to take it to go. I saw an old Riverfront Times article on their wall where they were listed as one of the 5 best breakfast places in St. Louis, and I just don't get it. IMO, good, but not great. Glad I tried it though.

Cafe Miami is a delight! It definitely has a nice, bright vibe to it and I'm definitely kicking myself for not stopping in sooner. I wasn't planning on eating since I had just had lunch, but definitely plan on doing so next time. I was greeted by an employee at the counter, he was warm and welcoming and gave me a little history about the spot. He also offered me key lime pie samples while I waited for my coffee. It was SO good and tasted so fresh with the lime taste. I keep thinking about it! My coffee was great- I highly recommend! Looking forward to stopping in again!

Very small Hispanic sandwich shop in Soulard. Only open for breakfast or lunch. Many sandwiches from which to choose, all with a Cuban, Caribbean flavor. Prices are reasonable and they do offer a cocktails menu. Wasn't expecting frills, but also wasn't expecting my lunch order to be brought out in a paper sack. Friendly service. Food not disappointing.

We wanted a more savory breakfast option and Cafe Miami provided it! (Thanks Yelp) Street parking is available for a limited period and we were able to park in front of the restaurant. The interior provides some seating and a couple of tables are on the patio. Very friendly crew upon entering and exiting. Menu options clearly stated on the board. We picked up an everything bagel with cream cheese and a couple of breakfast sandwiches. Plenty of drink options and we appreciated the jug of water to help yourself. Relaxing, casual space for our family and the boys enjoyed a game of checkers. So happy we found this place! Lunch menu also available.

BLT Hurricane and Mojito

Great little place in Soulard! Stopped quickly for a bite and a drink while house shopping before the 4th of July festivities begin this evening. We shared the BLT, I had a Hurricane and my wife had a Mojito. The BLT was Devine!!!!!!! Absolutely delicious! The drinks were a 7/10. We will be back!

Café Miami has become a go-to spot for me, especially for their everything breakfast bagel sandwich--it's everything you need in a breakfast sandwich! I also really enjoy their iced vanilla latte, which is always a great pick-me-up. The employees are super nice, and one of the best parts is that they have games on the tables, so you can play while you wait for your order. It's a fun, welcoming vibe, and the food never disappoints!

This place is so good! The people are so friendly and answered any questions I had. We ordered the sausage breakfast sandwich and the breakfast chopped cheese sandwich. SO GOOD and reasonably priced. The ambiance is very casual and welcoming. There is Cuban music playing, which makes it fun. Definitely recommend stopping by!

And this bird can sing! I'm late to the intro, but happy to finally check in at the Tower Grove…read morelocation. Songbird makes great use of its space and should be near the top of your STL brunch list. A reasonably-sized (not-overwhelming) menu, great coffee, delicious cocktails, quick, attentive service, and undeniably delicous food. I took off on a redeye this morning (coffee courtesy of Blueprint), and landed on the Farm Sampler: two scrambled eggs, applewood smoked bacon, sourdough toast, sliced avocado and sauteed shiitake mushrooms. Phenomenal flavors and textures. Toast is typically an afterthought for me, but the buttery crunch of the sourdough has to be spotlighted. The Bee's Knees cocktail was also a wonderfully refreshing prelude to the approaching STL summer. The time has come, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say: wake up, reserve, enjoy.

I think that Songbird suffers from a problem that many businesses have when they scale up: the…read morepersonal connection is lost, and the food no longer tastes like it is made with love. I was very excited to try them but left knowing I would not return. I waited 40 minutes on a weekday morning for a bar seat for one, standing because all the waiting area seats were taken. The hostess/waitress was very nice when she got to me, but you could tell that the amount of customers was simply too much to handle. Now, this was okay - I should have made a reservation, and it's not the staff's fault they were overwhelmed. However, the service once I sat down was patchy, delayed and distracted. I had to remind different servers of my presence, multiple times. I was willing to overlook this if the food had been fantastic, but unfortunately, their most popular item, the combo breakfast sandwich, was so incredibly heavy. The first bite was crispy, oily and fatty deliciousness, but by the third bite it was simply too rich. The sweet overtone of the honey was lovely but did not cut through the grease. By the time I finished half, I understood why several diners had left the other half uneaten. My personal preference is for a fresh, umami yet balanced sandwich that does not make me feel queasy after finishing it. This was not the sandwich for me. There was a long delay after I finished eating for them to bring me the check. My whole meal took around 2.5 hours. I had arrived starving and, I like to think, with an open mind. These are my honest, unfiltered observations. It is wonderful that so many people want to try their food and that their new space is bigger. Their decor, glassware and menu were cute and tasteful. I also love that they grew from a farmers market food stall and that they source their ingredients locally. With their level of popularity, I think they should focus on preserving the quality of their service and food.

Amazing restaurant, with amazing staff…read more I went here with my kids for an early fathers day breakfast. We made a reservation to this place. It said we were ninth in line. We thought we had to wait for a long time, but it actually went quick (like 5 minutes) when we got there. We did not realize this place had an upstairs, until our waiter guided us. This place looks very large on the inside compared to what it looks like on the outside. The restaurant also had an rustic atmosphere. With exposed pipes, rusted decor, and 80's memorabilia on the shelf. We ordered coffee here, and one of them came in a Christmas cup. Even though it was six months away. My wife chuckled on how they served her coffee in a Christmas cup. Mine came in a plain white cup. But I still excessively chuckled on how funny the menu is and the staff are. The staff are very attentive to how your food tastes and make plenty of funny jokes with you. They also are very descriptive on what the specials on pancakes and omelettes are. As well as being very honest. I ordered the Benny's Got Beef Or Belly with Brisket. I know, long name. I watched the weather while my food was being prepared, and occasionally looking at the PBS TV nearby. My wife was drawing with my 11 year old daughter (and writing "secret messages") as their food was being prepped and prepared. When my food finally came out, I immediately took a bite. The brisket was very juicy and tender. And the eggs were delicious on the side. I tried this place several years ago. Was still the same good taste that I remember when I took my wife to this place. Very amazing place. Will come again.

Instead, we took time to get ready and I even ran a few errands before checking in with the host. When I did check in, he let me know there would be another 15-20 minutes before a table was ready. It was a chilly day and sort of drizzly the day we went, so we had to hang out inside to wait for the table which was a little awkward, but we made it work. Once our table was ready, we had a server who brought over water and coffee right away. She even told us about the specials for the day and my friend and I were sold with the poached pear pancakes! After a few minutes, our server came back and we placed our orders and also asked for some refils of our drinks. When the food was delivered to the table, it was hot and fresh and looked amazing. My friend and I shared the pancakes and were so happy to be able to sample both kinds. While my other friend went with a more healthy meal of eggs with bacon and an english muffin. Our server came over to check in on us a few times and made sure we were good. When it was time to pay the bill, we took care of htat quickly and were on our way. Honestly, the wait sucks for this spot, but the food delivers everytime and I recommend visiting for brunch if you are in the area. Just be sure to get on the waitlist or else you will be told a crazy wait time upon arrival.

Today finally came, and I got to visit on a Wednesday lunch. Our hostess and staffs were wonderful and made us feel so special right from the start. Of course, the food was the real highlight. The grits were cooked to perfection and paired beautifully with the gumbo. Husband got the ham & cheese omelette and felt the same. We split kids pancakes to get the toppings on the side. OMG people don't lie these are an indulgent and amazing treat. 4 stars overall because there are literally 0 modifications which is kind of annoying in my opinion. Like, they were out of hoagies and there was no way to say - I'd still get the sandwich just put it on different bread. Or I don't want mayo. Find that odd. The Fleur-de-Lys is the epitome of a luxurious getaway. Whether it is the quaintly appointed guest…read morerooms or the delightful library and parlor, each area of this former residence is unique and meticulously maintained. While it is not likely the norm, the owners, Mark & Leslie, met us at the front door, quite literally inviting us into their establishment. It was simply the most welcoming manner in which to be introduced to this treasure and Leslie quickly engaged us with the history of the home and how she and Mark had recently become the owners. We chose this destination based upon the significance of the Fleur-de-lis to my love, a native New Orleanian. Given St. Louis' rich French heritage, the mansion was originally outfitted with four chimneys that feature the fleur-de-lis design and the pattern is repeated throughout the home. While we enjoyed a quiet morning coffee in the back of the property, a lovely shaded patio area, she noticed how many places the symbol was present. She actually made mention to Mark & Leslie that they could make an activity out of counting/finding all of the fleur-de-lis around the home. What a fun idea! We were fortunate enough to book the Tower Grove Park room, a spacious room fitted with a king-size bed and a two-person jacuzzi tub. There is even a 'fainting couch' for that extra French touch! The bed was amazingly comfortable and the decor and accoutrements were exceptional, right down to the pocket doors and writing desk. But a B&B is set apart by the fare served in the morning, and this is where Mark, a chef by trade, and Leslie, a self-taught baker, knock it out of the park. That morning's menu included a fruit starter, fresh juice, Leslie's home-baked sourdough toast and home-baked English muffins, and Mark's egg and sausage soufflés with country potatoes. The entire breakfast had us completely over the moon! We felt so at home that we wanted to clear our own place - so we did! The rates are competitive and well worth every moment spent here. There is parking behind the property, as well as across from the property, and each guest is allowed a unique security code so as to gain entry while you are enjoying your stay. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this getaway, and Mark, Leslie, & assistant Sammy made us feel like family from the moment we crossed the threshold. We'll be back - and you should give Fleur-de-Lys a try!
