I heard about this from my cousin in Texas! The food was tasty, I decided on the hot and ready sandwich that was with the tacos in the heater behind the bar and the rose cardamom latte with oat milk. My partner had the pita and dirty chai latte. The service was quick and the folks working were friendly. The shop is very vibey and open. There are a lot of places to sit with tables but also comfy chairs and couches. There is a section available for kids and various reading materials, art and trinkets to admire. The place was full but there was absolutely room for everyone and more. I highly recommend this place as it is right on historic Cherokee street with lots of shops next door. I will definitely be returning. Happy to support a lovely local coffee shop.

What a lovely little spot on Cherokee! I popped in here after a meeting in the area to get some work done and it was a really lovely experience. It's a really welcoming vibe, the baristas were kind and talkative, and there was tons of room to sit and work. It's bright and open, nice windows to get some natural light in. The coffee itself was tasty. I *believe* they have some baked goods/ food options, but I was only caffeine focused for the day. I would definitely return!

Huge fan of Good Strangers. I'm glad the STL Coffee Pass has pushed me to try new places because this place is going to become a regular for me. They have ample seating and a great aesthetic and vibe. Their drinks are greatly varied and I cannot stress how good they are. Because of the BOGO coffee pass I tried their two seasonal flavors - tahini and the coco mocha lattes. The Tahini one was super sweet and a bit umami due to the sesame flavor. The coco mocha one was a bitter chocolate instead of super sweet. Honestly these two balanced each other out so well! And I love they have a less sweet latte available :) The person at the register was very helpful in providing recommendations and alterations to the food and drink. Thanks for a great experience! 10/10 coming again :)

Local, communal, loving... The pillars of a Cherokee small business. And, well, now the esteemed Cherokee street has some damn good coffee in a damn good space. You're not a stranger in good strangers. The interior is minimalistic, yet modern. Pastel walls send you to a soothing oasis of peace. Even better: they have a small corner for kids to sit, enjoy, and play (or maybe the kids at heart as well). The workers were great. Super polite, they use your name, and greet you with infectious smiles; to reiterate: nobody is a stranger here. The coffee was wonderful. Per usual I snagged an iced, almond milk latte. It was great. A little bit of funk, plenty of ice, lots of caffeine. The perfect busy saturday afternoon pick me up. A beautiful space, full of beautiful people, and good friends(not strangers, lol).

Good Strangers on Cherokee is exactly what this neighborhood needed. It's such a cute and chill spot perfect for posting up with your laptop or just hanging out for a while. They're serving up Baked and Boiled Bagels (yes, please!) and 4th City BBQ Tacos, which is a combo I didn't know I needed but now fully support. The vibe is relaxed, the staff is friendly, and you can tell they care about being a part of the local scene. If you're into great coffee and a very welcoming space to hang or get some work done, this place is it.

A lovely addition to Cherokee St. Friendly service, and a very large space, complete with a kids corner for kiddos! I'm not sure if they roast their own beans or use somebody else's, but I had a dang good Americano with a splash of oat milk. I will be back for sure! I love that they source their pastries from Diana's down the street!

Decided to make the journey down to Cherokee Street for for a treat. The tahini latte really intrigued me and I followed the recommendation and got it with oat milk and it was very tasty. Great flavor and you can tell they know what they're doing because it was served at the right temp. I feel like some coffee places serve their lattes so hot and it kind of takes away from it. It was very delicious. I was not planning on getting a pastry, but the guava empanada looked delicious and it's not something I would typically get. Great flavor and the crust was so flaky and flavorful. The guava had just the right amount of sweetness. I believe it might've been the owner but had an employee stop by to check on me while I was enjoying my coffee. It's a big wide open space- perfect if you'd want to hang out or even maybe set up shop to do some work. I will be pulling for this place and it was definitely worth the drive.

Love this place. Great vibes, drinks, food, place to work alone or together, and holy crap the WiFi is SO FAST

I stopped in for a taco and cup of coffee. Great vibe and everything was delicious! The taco was a Philly cheesesteak variation.

There are plants in the front window, local artists artwork on the wall for sale and a glass case full of goodies. You order at the counter and they bring your order to the table when it's ready. On this visit, I ordered a breakfast bowl that had potatoes, eggs, cheese, spinach and tomatoes, with a side of toast. I also ordered a black pepper & rosemary scone, and a cold brew coffee. Everything was absolutely delicious. Besides this establishment having a wonderful and welcoming vibe, the staff is top-tier. They were so incredibly kind, friendly and patient. Absolutely love them!

The staff is always friendly and helpful, the food comes out quickly, and the shaded patio is a great place to sit and enjoy your meal. The espresso shake was absolutely delicious, but the Lou Melt was the standout of my visit. The bread had the perfect crunch on the outside while staying soft on the inside, and unlike many steak burgers , it wasn't greasy at all. The French Dip was just okay. It could have used a bit more flavor, and I wish there had been more meat on the sandwich. The bread, however, was fresh, airy, and incredibly soft, which helped make it enjoyable. The Caesar salad was another highlight. The kale was massaged just enough to make it tender while still keeping a nice crunch, and every bite left me wanting more. The Greek salad wasn't quite as memorable. The dressing tasted mostly like oil with only a slight hint of vinegar, so it felt like it was missing the bold, tangy flavors I was expecting. I also ordered an iced vanilla latte, which was excellent. It was smooth, not overly sweet, and didn't have the bitter taste that some coffee drinks can have. Overall, Mokabe's offers a warm, inviting atmosphere, consistently friendly service, and a menu with several standout items. While a couple of dishes could use a little more seasoning, I'd happily come back for the Lou Melt, Caesar salad, coffee, and the overall experience.

I was already familiar with Upshot Coffee's game from a visit to their Clayton location a few weeks…read moreago. I tried the breakfast burrito, and it honestly changed my life. I was able to get off drugs and reconnect with my family as the result of eating a burrito. You can imagine my excitement, then, when it was announced that a group I run with was meeting at this Tower Grove South location. I wasn't crazy about getting up early the day after America's 250th birthday, and there was the slight possibility that I'd barf during my run around Tower Grove Park (people might think I was back on drugs), but I was willing to risk it for the, erm, burrito. Actually, it occurred to me that I might try something else, for the sake of citizen food journalism. Then my decision was made for me when I saw that they carry a bagel with lox. I've eaten literally a million bagels with lox, going back to the 1980s, but only either at home or at places that aren't very good, like Einstein Bros. Alas, I was informed that the bagel with lox was currently unavailable, because they were out of lox. Which struck me as odd, given that lox is not served fresh. It's not like they had to go pull it out of the water that morning or have it flown in from Alaska, packed in ice. Was there a run on the lox due to a nearby media-industry convention? Did they accidentally leave it sitting out overnight? I imagine that would smell crazy. I went with the Everything, which may have been the better choice anyway. Named after the famous bagel seasoning, it's essentially a bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel with cream cheese and a tomato. But describing it that way doesn't really do it justice. You have to attempt to wrap your lips around it in order to truly appreciate it. No Diddy. It's the bagel-sandwich equivalent of their legendary burrito, and it might be just as good. The bacon and egg are perfectly cooked, with the egg just slightly underdone and the bacon nice and crisp but still with a little bit of chew. The helping of cream cheese is weirdly generous, to the point where just the cream cheese on a bagel would be a fairly substantial sandwich. The tomato, which was a little bit tart, made for a nice accent. It comes wrapped in one of those diapers they used to use on some of the bigger burgers at Hardee's, to keep it from falling apart the moment you try to bite into it. You'd still eat all the individual elements using your fingers, because you're a savage and because they're that good, but it wouldn't be the same. It's a testament to the thoughtfulness and the ingenuity of the kitchen staff at Upshot that they thought to do that.

It is easy to pass by the place because biggest sign on building is for donut shop that previously occupied the space. We were the only people in dining there for most of the time. The waiter was nice but a little different too. He was happy to answer questions and share his thoughts on menu items. In fact he actually hung out at our table a little too long- we wanted to get on with our conversations. Ha. Anyway I had the avocado toast with an egg on top- it was huge order. And very good. They sprinkle crunchy mix on top of the avocado- seeds mostly and lettuce under it - a great combo of texture and flavor esp with a creamy green sauce with it. It was interesting and visually impressive, although I would say the taste may not be everyone's cup of tea. The Norwegian pancakes were also beautifully presented. They looked very much like crêpes and, to me, tasted very similar to crêpes as well. The coffee was probably one of the more interesting parts of the experience. It was made with Indonesian coffee and green Indonesian spices that gave it a unique color and appearance that reminded me a little of matcha. Definitely something different to try. I initially ordered bacon and eggs, but unfortunately they were out of bacon. What surprised me was that there really wasn't another side available to substitute for it, so I ended up choosing something completely different. I also asked about sampling something before ordering and learned that they do not offer samples. Overall, this is a very visually appealing and unique dining experience with some interesting flavor combinations. I think it's a great place for someone who enjoys trying something a little different, but some of the flavors and menu options may not appeal to everyone.
