    Tuna salad croissant sandwich

Call me a super fan! I'm here all the time and it's so lovely to have a coffee house in Carondelet, as there's nothing but the Starbucks and I'm not a fan of them. Speakeasy ticks all the boxes - al fresco space, chill vibes, history (it used to be a Speakeasy), good coffee. Now there's ice cream! They have a delicious chili, protein shakes, pastries and now that I've tried, I can say the tuna salad is sooo good. You wouldn't think a coffee house's food would be this good but it is.

Stopped in speakeasy on a quiet sunday morning. The space was quite unique. It's a repurposed house. So, the counter to order is basically a kitchen counter. They have a dishwasher back there and everything. I thought that was pretty cool. The worker was super kind. The interior is super eclectic. Tons on vintage statement pieces adorn the interior. Pops of color, various shapes, and even a few odes to st. Louis. They had a solid offering of pastries as well. I just grabbed coffee this go round. It was fine. The coffee itself tasted a bit burnt so it wasn't my favorite latte ever. All in all, a really unique spot with some solid photo opportunities.

This place was a really cool hole in the hall, it had lots of seating downstairs and a cool speak easy in the basement . They also had outside seating, which is a patio that is dog friendly. The server in the front was so kind and very knowledgeable. We had a breakfast sandwhich and biscuit and gravy! The sandwhich was so tasty !

Very neat place! Homey and friendly upstairs, with a lavish downstairs and a closet door transporting you to narnia/another seating section. Got the breakfast sandwich - a croissant with a three cheese omelette and turkey sausage with cream cheese and honey, and biscuits and gravy to split. Both delicious!

If you haven't been to Speakeasy Cafe, there are so many reasons you should go. The decor and the vibe are so fun! Because I went in on a rather quiet Monday morning, I may have gotten a little carried away with picture-taking, but there is so much to see, much more than in the pictures I took. When I mentioned I hadn't been before, I was taken on a tour and was told some of the history of the building as an actual speakeasy, and the owners definitely recreated that vibe. There are so many cozy spots to sit and enjoy an espresso or coffee drink, a protein smoothie, breakfast, lunch, or even just a bakery item or ice cream. There is something for everyone to enjoy. I loved it here and can't wait to go back.

Chicken Salad, with requested Spring Mix, on the side. A-MAZING! Even the pickle was .

One of my new favorite spots! From the history, the warm hospitality, the charming decor and atmosphere, the quality and freshness of the food, A-MAZING! You get a true sense of COMMUNITY, we look out for each other! Gotta love it!!!! A true Speakeasy and a beautiful marriage of vibes, energies and auras! Thanks again for your hospitality Ms. Aleshia!

Super cute cafe in a historic building with period appropriate decor. I had the vanilla latte and the banana nut muffin here recently, both of which were tasty. The barista was very accommodating and friendly. Super cool atmosphere, quiet, comfy. Loved the decor. Prices were appropriate for a coffee shop, I didn't have any sticker shock, and I tend to be a cheapskate. I'd definitely come back again and try a different yummy breakfast snack.

Great new coffee shop. Friendly owner, neat concept, great prices. I didn't get any food since I was heading to breakfast after, but the case of baked goods was very tempting The menu is fairly standard as far as coffee shops go - I just had a latte. But the place just exudes character. There's a few tables on the main level, but the basement has quite a bit more seating and roaring twenties era decorations. If you like new local coffee shops, this is definitely worth a stop in.

I drive by this area quite often and was excited to see a new coffee shop! This part of South City is served exclusively by a Starbucks in Loughborough Commons. Today I decided to walk in Carondelet Park and end my walk with a coffee and snack at the neighborhood's new cafe. They have several tables on the sidewalk outside for nice weather days. Inside, they have the main floor with 2 4-top tables + 1 couch and 2 arm chairs. It is super cozy and friendly. There is additional seating downstairs, but I did not check that out on this trip. Their menu is pretty standard coffee shop. I was able to bring my mug inside to have my latte. They also made a kids steamer for my toddlers. No dairy milks are oat and almond. They have a pastry case filled with delicious looking items. I did not try any this time, but hope to on a future visit. So glad to have a local coffee shop back in the neighborhood again! I will be back.

We thought we had to wait for a long time, but it actually went quick (like 5 minutes) when we got there. We did not realize this place had an upstairs, until our waiter guided us. This place looks very large on the inside compared to what it looks like on the outside. The restaurant also had an rustic atmosphere. With exposed pipes, rusted decor, and 80's memorabilia on the shelf. We ordered coffee here, and one of them came in a Christmas cup. Even though it was six months away. My wife chuckled on how they served her coffee in a Christmas cup. Mine came in a plain white cup. But I still excessively chuckled on how funny the menu is and the staff are. The staff are very attentive to how your food tastes and make plenty of funny jokes with you. They also are very descriptive on what the specials on pancakes and omelettes are. As well as being very honest. I ordered the Benny's Got Beef Or Belly with Brisket. I know, long name. I watched the weather while my food was being prepared, and occasionally looking at the PBS TV nearby. My wife was drawing with my 11 year old daughter (and writing "secret messages") as their food was being prepped and prepared. When my food finally came out, I immediately took a bite. The brisket was very juicy and tender. And the eggs were delicious on the side. I tried this place several years ago. Was still the same good taste that I remember when I took my wife to this place. Very amazing place. Will come again.

Instead, we took time to get ready and I even ran a few errands before checking in with the host. When I did check in, he let me know there would be another 15-20 minutes before a table was ready. It was a chilly day and sort of drizzly the day we went, so we had to hang out inside to wait for the table which was a little awkward, but we made it work. Once our table was ready, we had a server who brought over water and coffee right away. She even told us about the specials for the day and my friend and I were sold with the poached pear pancakes! After a few minutes, our server came back and we placed our orders and also asked for some refils of our drinks. When the food was delivered to the table, it was hot and fresh and looked amazing. My friend and I shared the pancakes and were so happy to be able to sample both kinds. While my other friend went with a more healthy meal of eggs with bacon and an english muffin. Our server came over to check in on us a few times and made sure we were good. When it was time to pay the bill, we took care of htat quickly and were on our way. Honestly, the wait sucks for this spot, but the food delivers everytime and I recommend visiting for brunch if you are in the area. Just be sure to get on the waitlist or else you will be told a crazy wait time upon arrival.

I wasn't in the modd for breakfast food today so I got the catfish special. The catfish wasn't quite cornmeal breaded like I was hoping for and was under seasoned. The hush puppies were very good and perfectly cooked. I initially asked for something other than fries but I tasted one and was glad I hadn't ordered them because they were stale and tasteless. I exchanged them for the home style potatoes which were like warm and had definitely been sitting for some time. My partner got some and said his was hot and fresh. The coleslaw was interesting and finely chopped. It wasn't vinegar based but also wasn't the sweet/creamy type like KFC or Long John. It was just kind of there. The grits were again bland. The Biscuit was hot and fresh but they didn't have butter on the table for it. I should've asked but didn't so that's on me. Our server was kind but the expediter lady didn't seem as friendly. I would say if you haven't been give them a try for yourself.

To be a last minute find a place... that was close by, easy to get into and DELICIOUS! This place checked all the boxes. We went in around noon. We bought parking close to The Arch but it didn't start until 2 PM so we were trying to time it just right. We were here just over 1 hour. It allowed us plenty of time to eat and drive time to Arch parking. It wasn't on purpose but we both ended up with chorizo. I had a chorizo bowl with sunny eggs. I've been meaning to eat southwestern-themed breakfast food since I saw the legendary "chorizo and…read moreeggs" scene from the movie Midnight Run. The opportunity finally presented itself when a member of my old man's bicycle group suggested this place for a Friday afternoon lunch. I was more than happy to step away from my responsibilities for an hour or two, and the only thing that would have made it better is if I'd been able to disappoint a group of people standing in line, like at the DMV. I'd been as far south on McCausland as a shopping center near the intersection with Manchester, for a drug test for a job, which I'll have you know I passed with flying colors. Consulting Google Maps on the way to the restaurant, I was surprised to see that it's on (er, kinda on) Southwest Avenue. Does it serve diner fare with a southwestern flair due to its address, or is that a mere matter of coincidence? According to a guy I know, who knows several people who work there (don't be jealous), it's the latter. Certainly, you wouldn't put a restaurant here for the ambience. This looks like the kind of place where you'd ditch a stolen car after using the backseat for a fried chicken dinner that somehow involved ketchup (why?) and an assignation with a lady of the evening. If you live nearby, I guess it's not off the beaten path, but who lives here? The menu is a veritable plethora of riches. You could have breakfast food, or you could have lunch food, even if you couldn't bring yourself to roll out of bed until after 10:30 AM. It's downright anxiety inducing! I toyed with the idea of a torta or a burger, and I also saw that they had milkshakes. I ended up going with breakfast food, because I love breakfast food and I don't get it as often. Specifically, I went with something called the Rocket to Bacon Land. It's a bacon and goat cheese omelet with arugula and caramelized onions, served with home fries and your choice of bread. I could have gone with various kinds of toast or a sopapilla. I went with a biscuit. It was amazing! It looked like something your mom would make with Bisquick when she's feeling especially lazy, but it tasted great. It may have been better than the biscuits at Popeyes--which is pretty much the highest compliment you can pay a food item. The omelet was also pretty good. I appreciated the generous helping of eggs, which must have run them, thanks to a certain individual who shall not be named. It was definitely an egg-forward preparation. The arugula didn't seem to add much, as I suspected, and I don't know that the bacon or onions were present in sufficient quantities as to be truly dominant. The goat cheese was definitely a choice. It was warm and soft (ahem), but not melty the way you'd expect cheese in an omelet to be. I liked it, but I don't know if I liked it as much as a regular ol' Denver omelet. I'm a close-minded individual. I buy vanilla ice cream for the taste. Would I feel the same way, to varying degrees, about everything else on the menu? There's only one way to find out.
