Best NY Rye in town!!! just the right balance of rye/caraway seed ratio. Their other breads and bakery products ager good as well.

This is the cutest bakery! This place kept coming up on my feed, so I conveniently went to the area to check it out. It's located on the corner of a strip mall and is close to Vangel's (which is next on my list. I walked inside and was greeted warmly by the attendant behind the counter. They have a large selection of different breads and pastries all baked fresh daily. I don't eat bread as much as I used to and although I wanted to try some sourdough, I chose not to. Also, I'm unsure whether you have to buy the bread as is or if they'll cut you a slice. It's def a good question for next time. I knew I couldn't leave without trying something, so I went with the classic chocolate chip cookie. It only set me back about $3.00 and some change, which I think is fair considering how large it is. The cookie was soft, had a good amount of chocolate chips throughout the cookie, and wasn't overly sweet like I'm accustomed to tasting. I enjoyed my visit to Breadsmith and am eagerly waiting to return! read more

Can't say anything bad about my favorite bakery in STL. Delicious breads but the scones and muffins are my favorite! The cranberry muffin is my ultimate favorite. And the staff is always so friendly! read more

Soup and bread a great easy lunch! Service was quick and it has a nice coffeehouse vibe.

All around Fantastic! If you are a lover of BREAD...this is your place! If you take your time picking out the correct loaf or you need this bread with this dish..this is your place! Did I mention they English muffin Bread?! Sliced and ready to be toasted. Crunchy crust after toasting but with a nice soft chewy inside. Ciabatta, French, Italian, Bear claws, and the Apple Bread is fantastic. It's a pull apart bread with Apple pie filling, great for a brunch or a pot of coffee. They also offer a wide variety of jams. Super friendly and warm staff always. read more

Picked up 6 hot dog Buns around noon. Had brats for dinner using the hot dog Buns. They were so stale, dry and flavorless. So disappointed. I did call the bakery and they insisted there was no way the Buns could have been stale, but yet, they were. I paid $6 for 6 stale Buns. There were no prices on the product. Learned my lesson. I will never waste my money here again. read more

Stopped at Breadsmith on a Wednesday morning. I picked up a couple of bagels, a package of flatbread pizza shells, and a few oatmeal cranberry cookies. I did not care for the bagels at all. They didn't taste boiled or chewy the way a water bagel tastes. The pizza shells we used to make mini pizzas at home and they were fresh. The edges got nice and crispy in the oven. I found the middle to be a lot of dough for a "flatbread." The oatmeal cranberry cookies were delicious. Exactly what I'm looking for in an oatmeal cookie. They are slightly thick, chewy, and sweet. There is a nice little tang from the dried cranberries. Very tasty! read more

Love this place so so much. The bread is so good! If you've never had any bread from this place, you are missing out on the fun.:) When I walk into that bread shop all of the workers smile at me and when I order the cashier is so nice and Patient with me. The space is so calm inside the bread shop and there are so many cute pictures. It is like a mini Panera but so much better! read more

Baked goods are excellent baked goods and great bread products. I've purchased several breads and baked goods from this store. Loved all of it. Only problem is their short hours of operation, so check times of operation. read more

Got here an hour after opening- no challah. Complete crap. Waste of driving out of my way - won't bother again.

Delicious bread! Service has always been friendly -- whether in person or over the phone. I have always taken my bread to go, but I think they may have a couple of tables if you want to eat your purchase there. read more

I love this spot. It's hard to find places that are vegan. The slips are packed with flavor. The bread is to die for.

Bottom Line: Good to almost great bread ranging from typical to high prices. Overview: I have been here before for lunch and was not all that impressed. Although they offer lunch, it was memorable in a sorta bad way. That said, the bread is worth coming in for. I suggest the nut (not sure what kind), raisin bread. Goes great with almond butter, bananas, and some orange, ginger marmalade. My only gripe is that I like a bread with a crisp or hard crust, and this place has yet to show me a loaf that does. read more

In a visit to my in-laws, it was a treat to have great bagels in the morning. I planned to take a picture of the poppyseed but this is all that's left as of this writing.:) read more

Breadsmith - a white plate with crumbs on it - Bakeries Near Me - Saint Louis, Missouri

I have to come here every Christmas for Dolci Cello (caramel corn puffs, but oh so much more). It is heaven in a bag and I look forward to it every year :) They have lots of bread choices and staff are friendly and helpful. I just picked up a loaf of Brioche for Christmas morning french toast (can you tell, I'm a touch obsessed with the holidays?!). They conveniently put freezing and baking instructions on their items. I also picked up some small flatbreads that looked delish. It IS a little pricey and the shop is a little small. It's also a bit out there for me location-wise, but it is worth the travel. This is a must stop for carb-loving St. Louisans! Check it out next time you are in the Rock Hill area. read more

I feel somewhat bad about submitting a negative review when the country is suffering through the Covid-19 insanity, but this deserves to be called out. I am not a regular customer; I stopped in for one reason: to do my small part to help a small business survive. I needed nothing in the store, but I selected a loaf of cranberry-orange bread. I was a little shocked that the price with tax approached $10, but I was buying to help. Just cut the bread an hour or so after bringing it home. Was not fresh...dry and just not very good. No better than Dierberg's or Schnuck's at maybe half the price. If you present a product as premium and charge accordingly, you need to ensure it deserves its premium positioning. I will not return. read more

New favorite bakery. Went for the first time this morning and am so disappointed in myself for not going sooner! It wasn't super clear that they have coffee from their website but they do! The breads, dessert breads, scones and cinamon claws are amazing. Will be coming back alot. read more

I love you, darling Breadsmith. I really do. I miss you soooo much. I came here last week to buy snacks for my move to L.A.. Totally worth every darn penny. The crostini was delish! The Dolci Cello was splendid. The chocolate chip scone was heavenly. Alas, I wish there was a location near my new home. read more

Came here at suggestion of a friend who really loves it. Not bad. But I wasn't really floored. I think I like Pint Size bakery better, but ah well. This place has some good stuff too. The morning glory muffin sounded like something I would not normally order but I tried one at her suggestion. It was pretty good, but I could barely eat 1/4th of it b/c it was sooo filling!! @__@; I saved the rest for later. Also I feel like I might get an IBS attack from all the veggie shavings in it. It's really like eating a carrot cake only muffin shaped and with some fruit too. I kind of just wanted a regular ol' choco chip muffin but they didn't have those. The kind they had had orange in it which I really don't care for with chocolate, so I ended up getting a scone instead. Not bad!! The chocolate chips they use are really dark, so plan on a glass of milk if you don't like bitter stuff. Their bread is phenomenal though. I sampled some of the rosemary bread while I was there, and I took home a baguette and some brioche too since I have a guest coming over tomorrow, figured I'd splurge a little. I plan to make French Toast out of the Brioche once it gets kinda stale. Also got some coffee here for a friend, and some of the caramel popcorn puff thingies which aren't bad but were kinda greasy so I don't think I'd get them again. I feel like the prices here were a little bit on the high side, but maybe it's in my head b/c I bought so much. I ended up spending like $35 total. All in all, not a bad place, but too far of a drive for me to return anytime soon. I'd probably sooner drive to Pint Size due to its proximity to Knitorous, lol!! Yarn and baked goods, aw yea. read more

I'm kind of in love with you, Breadsmith. Let me tell you why... The workers here are SUPER friendly and helpful. It was my first time at Breadsmith (thank you, Groupon!), so I didn't really know what to expect. I knew I wanted some tasty sandwich bread as well as bread for french toast. The guy helped me pick out bread which would be appropriate, and he even sliced it for me! They also had a delicious looking cinnamon walnut coffee cake that I couldn't pass up -- and I'm glad I didn't! It was wonderful! I may or may not have eaten half of it in one day. Oops! Prices seemed pretty reasonable for freshly baked bread. And the bread was SO. GOOD. Very dense and chewy. So yummy. They sent me home with some literature on the different breads they offer throughout the year, as well as storage and preparation tips. Nice touch! It's kind of out of the way, but I know I'll be back. read more

This place is so out of the way. Its on the stretch of Manchester that has so many chains that you can never tell how far you have gone because it just repeats itself. If Groundhog Day were a road- it would be Manchester..... but I digress. This chain is worthy of a stop. Even if you can't figure out if you have passed it or not(see above) just put it into the GPS so you can drive happy. The place is not crowded but has so many different options for fresh bakery bread. The family loves when I splurge and get the pie breads. You're splurging calories not coin because this place is extremely reasonable (make sure you grab a punch card)! They always have samples out. And they sample the different breads- you know the ones you want to try but don't want to waste. Not the white bread( I'm looking at you Fre$h Th*m&) We are always trying something new and adding it to the list. It is an awesome place to stop before the next gathering. When you do find something you love check out the website for information on the rotations. Better yet just start with the pie bread! read more

I've been getting my bagels and rye bread curbside since Covid. The product is always fresh and delicious! The staff is so helpful and to have my order waiting on the table outside is easy and safe. I think this company has done an excellent job of continuing to service their customers through a difficult time. I will continue to buy my products when the pandemic is over. Not sure it is well known that the bakery is kosher...extra points for that. read more

This place is a nice little bread, soup and coffee shop. The bread is pricey, but it is preservative free and about as fresh as it gets. The soup is a bit overpriced...and it's nothing too special, but it is home made and piping hot when it comes out. Overall I would buy bread from here occasionally, but the cost is just a bit too rich for my blood. read more

I was looking for some breakfast pastries and that is what I found! Lovely, homemade & excellent quality. Super friendly and helpful staff. Pastries were all delicious and unique. Everyone I fed that morning, loved them. read more

Despite this fact that this place is a chain...i really love it. I stopped here one morning in need of coffee. This place is right next to a Starbucks, but i just wanted a cheap cup o joe...nothing fancy. In addition to all the breads, they have some great morning pastries. I did not want to eat something very calorie laden so the man behind the counter suggested a raisen walnut roll, which he ran through the slicer for me. It was really tasty. I have also bought several loaves of bread here, each one has been great. The workes are really friendly and actually seem to know alot about the bread they bake. I recommend this place if you in this neck of the woods. read more

An amazing variety of delicious hand made breads and pastries. Always delicious and tasty. They care about the product being highest quality, only have fresh daily made product (and donate unsold baked goods at day's end) and they care about their customers. Conscientious and friendly staff and obviously talented bakers and committed, on-site owners. Best bakery hands down. read more

Best challah I've ever had!! And it made the best bread pudding. It was rich and pillowy soft, heaven! I'll be back for more!

I live in Kirkwood so Breadsmith could not be more convenient. I stop in there at 6:30 am on my way to work. Always very friendly staff and great bread. I get the Pumpernickel rye and have it sliced. People at work love it as do I. read more

While the staff was not rude, per se, they were unhelpful and not very welcoming. None of the muffins or scones were labeled. The girls ordered apple cinnamon muffins which were too sweet for them to finish even half. (Whaaa????) I ordered a bagel and cream cheese which was put into a bag, unsliced. Our plan was to eat inside, but after asking them to slice my bagel they did not offer a plate, knife, or napkin. A very disappointing first visit. My everything bagel was yummy. read more
