This hidden gem shines brighter than my tita when she hits a high score on the karaoke! Solid spot for quick, vibey, Filipino eats. Side note: don't go here thinking you're about to get some traditional Filipino dishes. Come with an open mind and an empty tummy! You'll be pleasantly surprised. The space is spotless, easy on the eyes, and perfectly cozy - minimalist décor with just enough charm to make you want to stay awhile. There's plenty of seating for the whole fam (yes, even all your titos and titas). Only one kind gentleman was running the show during my visit, and let me tell you - he handled everything like a pro. Even with our big order, everything came out quickly and with a smile. Bonus points for the snacks, ready-to-eat treats, and vending machines to hold you over while you wait. But honestly, the food is worth every second. Now let's talk about some of the eats: * Ube waffle: light, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet - the powdered sugar and ube syrup complemented the flavor instead of stealing the spotlight. The chicken tenders were well-seasoned and paired well with the waffle. Whole plate was aesthetically pleasing and delish! * Lumpia: absolute fire. My only regret? Not ordering a mountain of them. * Longanisa breakfast sandwich: solid and yummy, but I wouldn't write my lola about it. Egg cooked to perfection though! * Silog breakfast bowl: oh. my. GAWD. Flavor bomb! The garlic fried rice, tender pork, egg, and peppers all danced together like they were meant to be. I'd come back just for that bowl - and the lumpia, of course.
This is the food concession at the Herndon municipal golf course. Counter setup. Don't golf but I had seen it on Yelp, and after pointing it out to a Filipino acquaintance who knows me as an adventurous eater, I had some suggestions: "Try the Longsilog (Longganisa - Filipino sausage with fried rice and egg) and ube waffle." The sausage is cut up with a spicy brown sauce and served with a rice preparation. The waffle is dark colored, round and served tith a dark purple syrup; had to take half of it home. Worth stopping by.
This place has been in my "Must Try" collection for some time now and I finally had the chance to make it happen. I was glad to have reread reviews so that I realized it was on the Herndon public golf course bc if not I would've sworn I was being punked. #1 customer service is a perfect 5 stars! The gentleman running the front of house was so pleasant and patient and helped me make decisions on the menu (& we had great conversation while I waited). #2 all food is cooked to order and fresh! #3 a very unexpected menu given the location and it's definitely authentic! Whenever I see SPAM on a menu I'm ordering it bc I mean how often do you get to grub on retro goodness? The SPAM fries were crispy and salty and all the things SPAM dreams are made of. The Ube Waffle was so unique and the macerated strawberries and Ube syrup that accompanied it were wonderful! I wish the chicken tenders that came along w the combo were true chicken breast but they were fried nicely. Ambiance wise it was cool to overlook the golf course but it definitely feels like the place is still a teenager coming into its own style while trying a few things out of that makes sense lol. I'll probably visit again to try the rice dishes and lumpia :)
Five stars for the ube breakfast sandwiches and the breakfast sandwiches as a whole. We came here after the falls and I'm soooo glad. The ube bun on my sandwich (pictured) was so delicious. I didn't use the ube sauce because the bread was already a bit sweeter than I prefer but the sweetness with the savory/salty meat was amazing. The sandwich was also huge and filling. I only ate half in one sitting. On location: this restaurant is located on the golf course but it's publicly accessible and it's not awkward at all. Only reason I'm giving four stars is because the lumpia was terrible. It was nothing like my Tita's or any other lumpia I've ever had. And the price of $5 for two very thin, under-filled rolls was not my jam.
Awesome spot. Doesn't stand out since it's within a golf center, but anyone who golfs there or lives in the general area are lucky to have this place so close. Lots of seating space inside and you can either order up front or online to go. Plenty of great options and the bowl I had was amazing. Lumpia in the bowl is also a nice touch! Service was efficient. Can't wait to come back here.
I couldn't tell from the pictures that Egg Karne was a little odd-spot café for the Herndon golf course. I was starting to doubt my Google Maps directions but fortunately, I saw their small logo on the building. The entrance was also weird. It felt like an emergency exit of the building and kind of prompted me to return to my car but I was like, "Heck, I'm here, let's find out" and went in. The décor was also not quite there. I read somewhere that the golf course sponsors it. Its owner probably wanted to offer food to the golfers. The overall feel of the place wasn't very welcoming or inviting. Its primary function was perhaps to provide some food and not much else. Honestly, if the food tastes good, I don't care about any of that. So, how was the FOOD? The meat bowls were tasty. The runny egg, oiled-up rice, and fresh chilis brought the balance. The downside to Egg Karne is that I didn't see anything else I wanted to try on the menu. The meat bowls were it. VERDICT: If you're craving Filipino food and live near Herndon, get their meat bowl. I wouldn't drive far though.
This shop is located inside a golf course in Herndon. It's small inside but with big flavors of yummy dishes!! My favorite is their sweet pork longanisa silog bowl and spicy beef lumpia! If you have not had sweet pork longanisa, it is like sausage meat that is sweet sticky savory but it is ground up and topped on their seasoned rice. Their spicy lumpias are so good, always fresh. Crispy outer layer and very well seasoned stuffing inside. They do get busy, so we usually order pick up. And food is usually ready in 15-20 minutes.
It's at a golf course. One of the staff was rude like trying to rush us. It wasn't really relaxing because there old men cackling. We got the Lumpiang Filipino Beef Egg Rolls, Ube Waffle, Ube Breakfast Burger. The lumpia you could tell it was frozen. The ube waffle should have been paired with coconut ice cream with condense milk. The ube breakfast burger was tiny and it didnt taste like ube. I don't think I would come back except for the fries.
We stopped by for brunch on our way out of town. We had no idea that Egg Karne was located on the Herndon Golf Course. While that was initially a bit shocking, once we saw the menu, we decided to stay and give it a go. So glad we did! I haven't been able to find a lot of Filipino food home. The idea of spam fries was probably the hook. We both got the Silog breakfast - one with sausage and one with pork belly. We felt it gave us a chance to try most of the menu, however, we did miss out on the Ube Waffle (neither of us were in Waffle mood). I cleaned my plate - the best recommendation I could give regarding the food quality. Portion size was decent. Yes, I would wish for a bit more, however, the prices are decent for what you get. Drinks, even soft drinks, were a bit pricy, but that is a function of being on a golf course. Speaking of the course, there is a few seats in the back that give you an excellent view. Overall, not a bad way to enjoy breakfast before heading home.
Sorry guys, I can't agree with all these rave reviews. There is or was an Egg Karne inside the 99 Ranch in Fairfax... they never seemed to have lechon sisig or adobo, so I thought I'd come out to the restaurant. I was definitely surprised it was on a golf course! We came around 2pm on a Sunday. Prime time for food considering the golfers right? Well right off the bat several menu choices were not available including fish and chicken tenders. These are not difficult ingredients typically as they are fried.. but ok. We settled on a sisig bowl, adobo fries, and ube waffle. I've had a lot of sisig and this one is heavily seasoned with liver. It's not crispy at all, and was only so-so. It was a bit disappointing as we frequently order sisig from other places and this one wasn't quite up to par. Next was the adobo fries. Basic ingredients for adobo are soy sauce, vinegar, salt, pepper, sugar. The best part of the adobo is letting all the ingredients meld together. Unfortunately these ingredients seemed quickly put together. The vinegar taste was quite strong and not well-balanced. It was like someone was making adobo for the first time. Lastly, we had the ube waffle. Since chicken wasn't available, we just had it plain. The sauce is actually quite nice though you don't get much ube flavor in the waffle itself. Overall, we thought it was a meh experience and prolly caters more to those unfamiliar with Filipino flavors.
About three years ago, I attended a Yelp Elite event in Rosslyn, and met a couple fellow Elite members who first told me about Egg Karne. I heard great things about this place and bookmarked it. Today, I decided to finally check it out with a friend, and was pleasantly satisfied with everything about Egg Karne. First, I was surprised that this place is truly situated at a golf course. Located in a residential area right before Historic Herndon, this place is tucked away at the Herndon Centennial Golf Course. I went inside and was surprised the amount of seating available. Raj was super friendly, and took the time to explain to my Filipino friend the various menu choices. We ultimately decided on the Lechon Sisig, Adobo Pork Belly Fries, Longanisa, and Ube Waffle with Chicken. I really enjoyed my Lechon Sisig. The chili peppers add the extra kick and flavor to the already delectable dish. I probably could have gone without the fries, as it was not super special to rave about. The Ube Waffle was delicious, and surprisingly not crispy like most regular waffles. The Longanisa was packed with flavor! Can't wait to go back!
My girlfriend picked this place for lunch since we were making a few stops in the area. We've been trying to come here ever since it opened but we never had the chance. It's located right along a golf course, in the same building as the shop. We were having late lunch so there were only 2-3 people in their dining room which is a pretty decent size. They have a pretty big menu but we both ordered a longsilog bowl and an order of adobo fries. It did not take too long obviously and when it came out I was shocked at the amount of food. Well, I mean we brought it on ourselves. The adobo fry portion was huge! Very cheesy and a decent amount of meat. Not exactly the adobo flavor I'm used to but still pretty good. Only finished half. The longsilog bowls were also pretty weighty but I'll eat almost any meat over rice and just destroyed it. It's not whole longanisa links but more chopped up but still good. Lot of rice too which I love but wish there was a little more atsara. Lumpia was decent, not really meaty but I wouldn't say no to more! They have such a large menu that it would take forever to try everything but I would definitely come back. Hopefully they do open another location like this. I know they had Kusina before so maybe that could be revived somehow?
We decided to finally check this spot out before a round of golf! This has been on my "must try" list for a while now... and the wait was totally worth it! I ordered the Silog bowl with pork belly and it was DELICIOUS! I highly recommend! I want to try it again with spam! It was a great combination of umami, perfectly cooked rice, yolkie egg, and peppers. Loved every single bite of it... maybe a bit too much! Having that full of a belly kinda impacted my golf game! I would come back here again for brunch and get a bucket of balls to practice with, or even play 9 holes. The golf course and restaurant are laid back with out the elitism you get in some other spots. There were tons of to-go orders and even a sign w/ a QR code to order. Come for the food, stay for golf. It's totally worth it!
I wouldn't expect a Filipino fusion eatery at a golf course. But it exists at the Herndon Centennial Golf Course! I've tried a few Filipino dishes and wanted to try more! The longanisa patties here are a must! They make them in house and they're super juicy, flavorful and straight up delicious. That bun is bites of heaven when combined with the runny cage free egg yoke, buttery brioche bun and melting cheese. Another popular menu item are the lumpia (Filipino egg rolls). They serve them with beef, chicken and vegetables. They kindly gave me one order with all three varieties and my favorite is definitely the ones with the beef and chicken. Well seasoned meat just tastes better. I couldn't have savory food without something sweet so I had to order the turon. It comes with vanilla ice cream and fried plantains with a caramel sauce. My husband and I loved everything about this dessert, from the rich vanilla ice cream to the crispy wonton skins to the gooey, thick and sweet caramel sauce. I cannot wait to try their Sunday specials that do change weekly! read more

**Allergy Alert** I was craving some homemade Filipino dishes and everything on this menu sounded extremely appealing. This spot was going to be the highlight of my week. I came into the restaurant very excited to try some Filipino Cuisine but I left disappointed to hear that the cooks use peanut oil in their kitchen. Unfortunately I have a peanut/tree nut allergy so I was unable to try anything on the menu because there could be cross contamination with the peanut oil. I wish there was something on the online menu that showed the disclaimer that they use peanut oil. Even though I did not eat anything, the atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and I would come back again if they end up converting to a different oil. read more
WOW. I can't believe this place was located in a Golf Club out in Herndon. My friends had been in the area at Roer's Zoofari and we wanted a grab lunch close by. I am extremely glad that we were able to find this place. I love Filipino food and this place reminded me of the Filipino version of Egg Slut (out in LA). I ordered the Adobo Pork Belly and my friend got the Spam fries. The sandwich was EXCEPTIONAL. The pork belly was juicy and had a lot of flavor. The bread was fluffy with a little brunch. However, it wasn't filling. You definitely have to get a side to help fill you up. The spam fries were good, but kind of a let down. We expected there to be more in a portion for $6! I would come back if I were in the area, but I'm not sure I would go out of my way just to eat here. read more

Hospitality was A1 The environment had a modern feel. The kitchen looks very green (eco) The food that come from the kitchen is what you expect to find in "whole-in-the-wall" Joint with a modern name. The selection is very limited to only a few items on the weekends. I had the Breakfast Chicken Sausage Sandwich. Not only was this sandwich one if the BEST sandwiches for breakfast in the local area but it can't with good ole hand cut fries! I have to say for a little over $9, I was pleased to fund this little treasure in the Historic District of Herndon, VA!! read more
Looking for a brunch spot and this was perfect. Right on the Herndon golf course which is a little weird when driving up but offers fantastic views over your food and provides a relaxed, peaceful environment. The chef was very helpful when I told him it was my first time there and he offered me several suggestions including off the Sunday specials. I tried the longanisa sausage egg and cheese sandwich which was fantastic - flavors I found quite unique, rich, and irresistible. Also had the ube waffles, made from purple yams, and those were fantastic as well. Coming from someone that always prefers savory over sweet, I mean it when I say these were just as good as my breakfast sandwich - unique, light and fluffy, sweet but not overpowering. Five star dishes, both of them. I will definitely be back. read more
Came back today for their Sunday special. I ordered the chicken and ube waffles which was topped with an ube spread and it was delicious! I did think the fried chicken wings could be a little bit more flavorful, however when you pour the maple syrup on their and eat it with the waffles, it was pretty good. My fiancé got the longanisa sammy again but this time, per the owner's advice, he added pork belly to it and he said it was really good. We'll be coming back more often! read more

Two words... Longanisa Patties... So...damn...tasty. If you appreciate delicious food (especially Filipino food) and knocking back a couple of breakfast beers (Red Horse available) before your tee time and after you finish a full 18, this place is for you. This place is good enough for me to move a couple of my golf outings to Herndon. Also, for a cafe located next to the pro shop, the place is casual and very unassuming. It's a solid spot to have client meetings, especially with the ample (yet not overbearing) white noise. Highly recommend for an afternoon with clients or quality time with Filipino family. And once again...Longanisa Patties... So...damn...tasty read more

Came here for a tasting one night! It's located in the Herndon Golf Course. We got to sample a cornbread pudding slice and that was amazing! Honestly not sure what it is exactly since it was hard to hear the owner speak but coming back to get more of it. Then we also got this ube waffle with some ube jam (I think?) and it was okay. I'm not sure if it was okay because they burnt some of it or what but I would go back to try it fresh. We also received some garlic rice with an egg on top, crumbled longanisa (Filipino sausage), and some lumpia (Filipino eggrolls) on the side. I liked the longanisa the best! I couldn't taste the garlic in the rice and honestly, I make better eggrolls than what they served us. I would go back to try other things on the menu and I hope they have more authentic items on the menu! I don't want another Asian fusion restaurant! read more
Delicious comfort breakfast food! It's a little out of the way and located inside a golf course so there's not much else around the area. Plenty of parking and seating inside though. The food is fresh, hot, and definitely hits the spot! I tried the the silog breakfast bowl and ube pancakes. Ube pancakes were pretty light in flavor but I personally liked that it wasn't overwhelming. Definitely will be back! read more

HIDDEN GEM .. DELICIOUS .. you've probably driven past this place a dozen times and never noticed it or thought it's in a clubhouse; how good can it be ? Well, it's a cornucopia of flavors, and festivals in your mouth - you almost can't wrap your mind around everything that is going on. All that raving aside, the food was amazing. I had the longanisa breakfast sandwich and my buddy had the chorizo, and neither of us have anything bad to say, cooked to perfection and never ending flavor. Great place to give a try, I would put money on you coming back. read more
Interesting little place in the golf course clubhouse. The longanisa sausage breakfast sandwich was the clear winner. The fried arroz caldo balls were fine but really for sharing as they are pretty one-dimensional. Would definitely return to try another breakfast sandwich and maybe the lumpia and spam fries! read more

Was super excited to try this place for the first time. I love Filipino food and I love the fact that they are small and local. Great in concept but the service was really lacking. They completely skipped our order. And had to ask us AGAIN what we had ordered. They only had two people on staff and took so long to make our order. We literally waited for 40 mins and our food still didn't come out yet. We ordered 4 dishes. One sandwich one Sunday special and two small snacks and plates. The food was good. Accurate Filipino flavors. Innovative presentation. Spam fries and the Caldo Balls (normally spam is just pan fried and the Caldo is a porridge). I would try them again with hopes they get their service issues addressed. What could have been a great first time experience here turned out to be extremely dissapointing!!!! I hope Egg Karne can make this right. read more

Great spot for filipino food. My friend and I stopped by here while riding on the W&OD trail. Being Filipino, I'm always excited to try a new spot that is local within the DMV area. My friend and I ordered the Longsilog and Adobo pork belly fries. The fries were a huge portion, it can definitely feed up to 3-4 people for sure. You can taste the adobo in the pork belly and the Longsilog was very good, flavorful in every bite. Will be coming back to try more of their menu. read more

I ordered the ube burger and adobo pork belly fries for takeout. The ube burger was like a Mcdonald's McgrGriddle but sweeter, too sweet for me but definitely a larger portion than it seems in pictures. It came with ube sauce that was yummy, but the burger was already sweet enough. The fries were more obviously large based on the previous pictures on Yelp. They were good, but I wouldn't go there just for the fries. Overall I think I'd have to go back again to try more items and get a better picture. They definitely look like they have great food, I just didn't know what I was picking. read more

I was here just for the Longanisa sausage breakfast sandwich a friend recommended . It was great. The limited menu is mostly breakfast sandwiches, sharing snacks like egg rolls, specialty fries, chicken tenders, sandwiches, and burgers, including veggie burgers. The eggs are cage free and the burger is from all natural 100% Angus. This place is inside the clubhouse of the Herndon Centennial Golf Course. The atmosphere is different, in a fun way, from most breakfast spots I visit. I would absolutely recommend this place for a great casual clubhouse fare. Plus, the staff at Egg Karne were friendly and helpful. read more

Cute little place inside a golf club. I came here for the arroz caldo balls, which tasted just like the soup in bite sized form. They were great, but a bit too greasy for my taste. I also ordered the beef lumpia, which were perfectly crisp and flavorful. read more
Definitely to me this place is a hole in the wall I didn't expect it to be in Herndon golf building! I would absolutely be coming back here. Their menu is super cool and was my first time trying a Filipino menu! I got the ube pancake burger which was essentially similar to a McDonald's mcgriddle but definitely a lot better! I was glad the meat inside was not a just salty sausage party but a semi sweet Patty that fit in really well with the pancake part of the burger! There was also have sauce to drizzle on top! read more

I'll start with the food since that is the positive part of the review. The food was good and really unique for the area. We got the Ube pancake meal with egg and sausage. The pancakes and syrup were definitely the highlight there. We also go the sage sausage sandwich and spam fries and for real I ate about all but four of those fries before anyone else could. As far as location and other parts of the experience, this place is tucked away from a less trafficked road on a golf course and difficult to find unless through yelp or if you are already golfing. The view is pretty much just golf or a Parking lot if you're outside, but, a nice view. They were actively cleaning while there. However, because of the golfers coming in and out there was a lot of grass on the floor. There was also a beer can, towel, and lid on the ground at the outdoor seating area. Also, some staff in the kitchen I noticed were not wearing masks properly (not over the nose). Overall, the lower rating is mainly for the setting and the cleanliness/safety. The food itself was good and I will be going back for spam fries to go in the future. read more

Don't judge a book by its cover. This small restaurant, tucked away in Herndon's municipal golf course's golf shop, is a Philippine/American breakfast-lunch spot that will sure hit the spot while not breaking the bank. The counter service is pleasant, quick and the food was quite good. I opted for the Ube waffle & chicken. The waffles are made with purple yams and flour served with purple yam syrup and maple syrup. The fried chicken was moist and perfectly fried. Yum! My wife had a veggie burger and home fries. She enjoyed it. They serve Weird Brothers coffee, a local roastery that makes very good coffee. They serve breakfast all day. Next time I will come for burger or one of the sandwich offerings. This is a great little restaurant that is clean with modern decor overlooking the drive range. A definite recommendation! read more
